Cheesy Pizza

I come here pretty often for tres leches because they used to be pretty good. One time a while ago, I went to get it, it had clearly gone bad. The milk was bad. And as I saw it, I told the cashier. He and the guy making the pizza told me it was not, and so I asked if I could have another one, they refused. I tried it, it was indeed bad, so I just threw out the tres leches. I will attach the picture of it. Yesterday, I went back because I thought maybe they had a bad day with storage. Told the guy there about my last experience and he said he was sorry, and offered 50% off on the tres leches I was buying. I declined and said it's okay, I'll pay for the whole thing because I didn't want to seem like I was making things up for a discount. The thing tasted fine, something tasted off but not bad. Hours later me and the friend I shared it with ended up throwing up. We learned that it was the tres leches that made us vomit because perhaps the milk was bad again. Now I'm just scared to go back again or eat from there.

I’m really sad because I nostalgically ordered from Cheesy Pizza because they were my favorite pizza spot in the Upper West Side. Not only was my pizza terrible, I’m pretty sure it was a grocery store Frozen Pizza. Also, the GrubHub delivery person delivered my pizza at my door on the ground. Photo below. I’m so disappointed. ☹️

It’s standard. Sometimes, you want and need standard. Pros: beef patty (and by that, I mean they serve it) the biggest dining area in the hood w/AC cheap slice they got ice cream open late wings are an option… feels kind of dirty Con: < quality than the top end slice spots thicker more doughy slices the AC can be weak on super hot days feels kind of dirty To summarize: It’s the late night, don’t wanna wait in line, something cheaper, need to sit down and chill inside because it’s an oven/arctic cold outside- spot

2 cheese slices with a soda that comes with it was $8 not bad. I loved that they had monster there too😅. One of the best slices in the area. I will bring my family here it was really good.

The best pizza I've ever had without question. Excellent crust, not to thick and a bit of a crunch. I got the Grandma Vodka slice that had vodka sauce, mozzarella, and fresh basil.

Wide variety. Good price and good food. The only thing that I can complain about it not having a bathroom for customers and the place was a bit messy even tho they didn’t have any other customers when I was there.

Came here for lunch at 12 noon and can't get a fresh slice of plain pizza. To want 4 or 5 bucks for day old slices of pizza , is criminal. Nothing pisses me off more than passing off stale over priced pizza.. I would avoid this place if you want fresh pizza.

Great stop for a slice. I favor this place over others as the pizza is fresh and you can tell it hasn’t been sitting out and slices are large. Great customer service, very friendly. Will stop in again for a slice, soon.

Just a short walk from Broadway Dive, head left and stroll one block south to discover one of NYC's best pizzerias, Cheesy Pizza. I absolutely love their longer, softer, and cheesier slices. The sauce is delicious, and the staff are not only skilled at making great pizza but also incredibly friendly and generous to those in need, which truly warmed my heart. Highly recommend! --- Let me know if you'd like to make any more changes!

ANGRY on top of Hangry! Overpriced and the older guy with graying hair claims he cannot see well surr knows how to charge extra when you ask for a receipt for A SLICE AND MUSHROOMS FOR 6 bucks but it says "CUSTOM." I ask how much is a slice because it says 4.14 on the sign. Then he says 4.15. THEN i ask how much for a topping and he says I dunno. He cannot read the recipt and says 1.50. I SAY you gave me 3.25. He gives me more change. Out of a ten I got back 3.87 and the receipt say 6.53 with tax. That does not even equal a ten. So a topping is 2.00?

Great vibes, very cheesy pizza. This was our first stop after getting off the airplane and it did not disappoint!

The pizzas have always been fantastic. Prices are good considering portions and taste. Pasta & desserts are TOP TIER. Whoever the genius was to add the Dubai chocolate bar to the menu needs a raise asap!!!

I grew up in the West Village with Ray's as our standard despite wonderful others like John's (Bleeker) or Stromboli's (East Village). Cheesy pizza is great. Sweet owners and classic NYC pizza. A gem.

Menu prices aren't accurate, I somehow ended up paying $3 extra.. mind you the prices are already not cheap, but let's blame inflation for that. Taste is mid anyway, so this place needs to do better. The random upcharges are mad shady..

//5 stars for customer service I thought this place deserved a rating. The most impressive part is their customer service. They will take care of you. For a pizza joint I was happy to be served with jokes and smiles. It's rare. The place was almost full. I bought my pizza and asked to go because there were no tables. However the cashier spotted a table and quickly told me we have a table and cleaned it. It shows they care for their business. The pizza: wow the ny style pizza is it here. With the crispy bottom crust and cheesy cheese and everything so delicious pasata it was very delicious. Let's not forget the size. It's like 2.5 times the size of a regular non-nyc style pizza. Overall: stop by and grab a slice

Decent pizza like every other place on every block of Manhattan. It all is good. Including Cheesy Pizza although they are kind of pricy for my favorite slice, the Buffalo Chicken for $7.

This is maybe my favorite slice? I love the textures. The crust on the bottom is classic, crisp thin crust, but still manages to offer up a good, bready bite. They're generous with the cheese. Maybe not the best "pull," and I could see some people thinking the cheese has too much bounce to the bite, but for me, it's just right. The sauce is really bright--which you really do need to balance out how heavy they go on the cheese--but simple and not very "deep" tasting. Friendly, patient staff. As far as ambiance goes, there's some perfunctory seating, but the place has the spirit of a walk-up counter. You get the impression that the seats are more for taking a load off while you wait, or maybe scarfing a slice down on your own quickly en route somewhere else, rather than for sitting and enjoying a meal. They're definitely aiming more for takeaway and delivery. It's where you'd order for a party, not where you'd go to host one. I haven't lived in NYC in a while, but whenever I'm back in town, I try to get a slice here, no matter how many other slices I've had on the trip.

I split a twelve-inch gluten-free pizza with extra cheese, mushrooms, and black olives with my mom. The gluten-free pizza option only comes on the twelve-inch pizza option, but it was absolutely delicious. The pizza was so good, and they even gave us a pizza cutter to cut it exactly the way we liked it. It was this cute little plastic red and white pizza cutter. I'm not sure if we kept it, but it was adorable. The cheese was gooey and delicious with the best flavor. I was only disappointed because they didn't have jalapeños on the menu, but the food came so fast and it arrived almost instantly. I was really happy with the experience, and I would love to come here again.

Food is tasty and pizza popping hot! I go here every time. It's good to satisfy a last minute hunger.

The service is horrible, they try and rip you off, and the owner doesn't listen. -After buying a pizza pie, I asked for extra sauce. Took the owner a minute to figure out what I was asking. He told me that I should have told him before he made the pie. I told him that I told him after because I wanted it on top. I didn't want a soggy pizza, I wanted a sauce layer on top. He said that I still should have told him in advance. I disagreed and said that I don't mind paying for the sauce, but I will order it my way in order to make sure that it's right. -The following week I ordered the pie again (leaving off the extra layer off sauce until it was completed), and of course the daft owner said that I should've told him in advance. Again I disagreed. I always run into issues, and this way of ordering always assures that I get the correct top sauce layer, This time I was charged $1 for the extra sauce. Perfect. -After another week, I ordered it again, but this time he charged me $2 (That's a 200% increase week over week). I informed the owner that I could've gotten it for free from Sal & Carmines across the street. I paid anyway... -..and again, the next following week was the same story, but now he's charging me $3, which is 300% more than 2 weeks earlier. I voiced my anger without expletives and without raising my voice. I decided to stop patronizing the shop. - One night (a few months later), I was running late and I decided to pick up some pizza. I stopped in Cheesy Pizza and asked for 5 slices to go. The owner's son starts whining... "How can you do this to me at this time. I can't afford to give you 5 slices at this time. I have to many customers that want pizza." ImI got upset and mentioned that I've never heard of such a dumb comment, and that they are in the business of selling pizza. The owner's son said "that I was only joking. It was a joke. Take it easy." I told him that he's a pizza boy, not a comic. This was the straw. After having the pizza sauce price raised 300% in 3 weeks, I refuse to think that anything they do is funny. So, I suggest everyone order from anywhere else. It doesn't matter that they're not smart people, or that they rip you off... They just don't care about you, and don't listen what you have to say. Zero customer service.

One of the better slices I've had in the city. Lots of options, big slices, fair prices. A solid 9/10 slice of pizza.

I always get the personal pizza with pepperoni and bacon when I decide to live on the edge with pork. Lol. This is the best pizza shop around and the prices are amazing. I literally choose this pizza over the popular pizza joints.

I'd stick to cheese slices with maybe garlic as a topping, I had some premium slices and the ingredients were not great. Definitely just a late night spot.

Dropped my kid to an event nearby and needed a slice. I was starving. One look in the pizza case and do yourself a favor and about face! I knew when I walked in I was about to make a bad decision but I was so hungry. Don't do it! Horrible food and way Overpriced. I got two slices, a margarita and bbq chicken, and a bottle of soda and it was $14 and change. I had to do a double take of the receipt because it wasn't adding up to me. I'm from Spanish Harlem where a slice costs $3 or less in 2021, and it's actually good pizza. This place wants $5.50 for slice with a topping. That's outrageous. Outside of the cost, its jusd not good. The chicken tasted old, the sauce isn't great, there was a decent amount of cheese on the margarita but not enough sauce or basil and way too much sauce on the bbq. On top of that the place was not clean; The garbage was overflowing, and the tables sticky. And the man at the counter had the nerve to be rude. Just No. Don't do it.

Insanely overpriced food. Found 2 pieces of hair in my fries. Fries were green and moldy. I normally don't go out of my way to write bad reviews, but this place deserves it.

I ordered a BBQ chicken slice, Sausage slice and Eggplant Parmigiana hero (I wrote in the notes to please give me a toasted garlic hero). Ordered through Uber Eats. The food arrived quick in excellent condition. Slices were warm, hero was hot. The hero was on point, toasted garlic hero eggplant parm. Delicious. The slices were also good. Will order from there again.

I went in and ordered a spaghetti and meatballs with a side of garlic knots. simple right? I guess not. the pasta was not cooked all the way and the garlic knots had a sour taste. I spent $22 and for a broke New Yorker this is pretty pricey to me. i was shocked by the price but he told me that it's worth it. the only good thing was the souse and the can of soda I got. I'm not sure about how I feel but I don't think I'll go back. very nice and kind people I can tell you that.

The pizza is really good! Huge slices and tastes like old school New York pizza Will definitely come out of my way to come again!

Pizza was bland and mediocre barley any cheese, zeppolies had no sweetness and the whole order was severely overpriced $42 for two personals and zeppolies is crazy definitely lost a customer

Really good pizza, cheesy and light but fills me up. Last pizzeria i went to had hairs and roaches in the pizza i ate all the time, but i came here and I'm going to keep coming here. The owner is super chill and kind. Didn't have a dollar for a drink once, he told me not to worry. Pizzas amazing tho. Fully recommend coming here.

Didn't check the reviews before going in and I'm glad I didn't. Their name is cheesy for a reason. Not sure how my lactose intolerance is going to feel about this but my taste buds savored every bite. Quick service, reasonable price, delicious food.

I love the sauce on their pizza. It is not typical of most NY pizza but the small personal pie is just a perfect amount of sauce cheese and dough. This is a local owner and a small business we need to support -- they deliver and they also have small indoor seating area. So, try it out if your tired of domino's or papa John's -- they have some extras NY quick bites--- like beef Patties and wings and boneless chicken and chicken and other stuffed rolls and ice cream for desert plus cans of soda plus bottled water. Delivery or dining in -- or pick up and go -- this is a cheesy pizza place I am proud to call a favorite of mine.

I come here every time I'm in NYC! I love the cheese pizza, and the Hawaiian pizza, 10/10! The service is quick and efficient! The staff are friendly and courteous! Definitely recommend, big portions and great prices!

Old but gold, absolutely good stop and go place. Great service and you will build a great relationship with the staff. Their the type to know you by name.

Late night hero... but maybe hero is too strong of a word. Pizza quality is not the best, but sometimes it is the only option and it gets the job done. Ordering a whole pie is always better, fresh pizza always tastes better than reheated. Prices are considerably lower than other pizza nearby, but again that may be because the quality is a bit lower. Big plus on Lemon Gatorade and other beverage selection - as well as Ice Cream availability!

All arrived within 25 minutes on Tuesday night and tasted just fine. Burger deluxe: I got a medium-rare patty as requested, but the fries were thick, soggy, and bland. The burger was thin, the buns chewy and obviously store-bought. $9.50 and not bad, but I'll refrain next time. The Cheesestix won my heart. Dough was gooey and salty and oily, hella cheesy, had loads of garlic and parsley, and was a hearty serving for $11.95. Not rushing to try again, but will when I have a hankering for that cheeeese bread.

Is this place an insult to Pizza it just might be. However cheesy pizza has been around for as long as I can remember probably going back all the way to 1987. the food wasn't good back then either but here's the thing it's a neighborhood staple and in time where gentrification and the destruction of regular working people of the Upper West side is an all-time high... I give cheesy pizza two stars not because of the quality of the food but the fact that it survived this long.

Thicker crust, huge slice and good flavor. Great beverage selection. Late hours. A bit dirty too. Cheesy Pizza remind me the 80's. Cheesy Pizza need to renew the establishment.

Bought 2 slices of pizza yestersay night. The lady at the checkout forgot to give me back my credit card, I call today to pick up the card, whoever answered the phone (a man) wasn't helpful, and tell me to call back at night. I have a flight to catch at the evening, I explained and he said he doesn't know. Not his problem. This place lacks customer service and business ethics. I have to report my credit card to the bank as stolen by the shop.

Listen is a solid 3. Like you have sal and carmines obviously best cheese slice in the area period. This place though if you need a slice at 2/3am is good. Also their milkshakes you just ask are low key good

These are tips for those interested in the gluten-free pizza: I gave this place a second chance after having had a horrible experience. This time I offered specific instructions to make the gluten-free pizza tasty (so many do not put love into these!). It came out fantastic except the pie arrived with the toppings off the pizza pie itself :( Note: While it is not listed on the ordering site(s), know that the gluten-free pizza comes with mozzarella and red sauce, as a 12-inch for $13.95, so do not pay extra by selecting a cheese topping add-on. I would now ask for the following: - the 12-inch gluten-free pizza (of course) - white sauce instead of red (extra charge, but delicious with their thick, dry crust) - crispy crust - no plastic pizza cutter (unless you are completely gluten-intolerant) - delivery man to take it easy with the box so to not toss the toppings all to one side of the pie with cheese sticking to the box (as has happened now twice) I will revise my review of this place as I see more improvements, as I did this last time. Hope this helps others!

Huge slices. Soft and cheesy, salty sweet sauce, thicker crusts. Better at room temperature. I absolutely love this pizza place for a quick slice on the go.

I see some people like this spot but they just don't know good pizza they serve some old Az pizza here I got a chicken bbq slice it was over priced for the quality and my stomach started hurting so bad it still hurts and the guy charges $1.25 for a $1 soda . Someone ordered a pie and he tried to charge more then what's on the menu the customer had to show the guy the menu to get the right price I will definitely not be going back to this location because it's overpriced and they save the pizza for who knows how long

Amazing. Recieved delivery in New York to a hostel at that. And Recieved all sauces ( honey mustard, ranch, marinara, bbq) everything hot..fresh..and delicious! If I could tip more I would!!

We ate here three nights during our visit. The pizza is delicious! I always got the thick bacon pizza and my honey always got the thin pepperoni. We also got the bread bites filled with pepperoni. Delicious! The guys were very nice and service was expedient. The place is open late and convenient to our hotel. We will definitely go back when in the area next!

Pizza was good old fashioned NY pizza. Great prices considering it's NY and literally everything I tried was good. I especially liked the buffalo chicken pizza and the spaghetti with meatballs. Try it out!

This is my favorite place to order pizza for delivery. Their artichoke-spinach white pie is amazing and their regular cheese pie is also very good!

Judging by the top half of the slices, Cheesy Pizza isn't bad. I guessed this would be a place whose best virtue is late operating hours, but the cheese and sauce were good, as were the sausage and pepperoni toppings. However, the crust had an amorphous feeling that suggested it would have benefited from a bit more cooking time.
