Chef Alyssa's Kitchen

I reserved a company team building event at Chef Alyssa’s kitchen last week and it was a wonderful experience. Andrew was extremely helpful during our reservation process in helping me decide which class to take - cooking lesson or Chopped competition. We decided on the Mediterranean menu cooking lesson with Chef Alyssa. We all had a great time and enjoyed our creations. Highly recommend!

My wife and I went to a cooking class last night and had an great time. Chef Mike was fantastic and walked us through step by step to make some delicous pierogis from scratch. This was our first time going to a cooking class but we absolutely loved it! We will be back!

My husband and I received a gift certificate for a cooking class. (value $180) We put ourselves on a couple of waitlists because most classes were full. Long story short- I received an email notification on a Wednesday that a class of interest had 2 tickets available ($90 each) for the upcoming Friday evening, so I quickly replied via email we would be interested in attending. On Thursday evening I started feeling ill and when I woke early Friday, I had a full blown URI (bad cold) No shape to be cooking or socializing with others etc. I called at 7:15 AM to leave a voicemail to attempt to provide as much notice as possible … the owner Alyssa picked up the call. I explained the situation and she told me she will attempt to get the tickets rebooked but if she does not …we would be out. I said this was a gift from daughter and We want to attend a class- we would like a credit. Alyssa said sorry, can’t do that since food was purchased for the number of people attending. However, we were given option of picking up cooked food after class at 9:00PM which my husband did. He drove 45 min there and back. Accidents, illness, emergencies happen last minute and to not be given even half credit on a gift card is just appalling. Think twice about ever getting a gift certificate. Our daughter spent $180 on our Christmas gift and we got a heap of pasta in a paper container. Bad business. Owner not accommodating or helpful at all.

There is plenty of parking and great breweries in walking distance. The kitchen was spacious! The team-building event was in a smaller back room, but it had plenty of room for us to complete our Chopped Challenge. The Chopped Challenge might be the best event I have ever booked - even the people who do not typically cook had a wonderful time. It gave the people who love to cook a unique way to express themselves. Overall, it was an exciting way to learn some new things! We had Chef Kaegan and Chase leading our class. They were helpful, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable! They were accomodating to the food allergies in my group and went above and beyond to take care of us all! They even provided suggestions and helped with the challenge when needed (my group needeed A LOT of help.) Part of the Chopped Challenge experience is a chef plated meal. The group loved the short rib that we chose as our dish. I was plated a dairy-free meal and offered a vegan meal, which was a nice surprise. An even better surprise was at the end when I got my own vegan cheesecake for dessert! I would go back for a class, but I would love even more to participate in the challenge again! Even though some of the mystery ingredients provided were things I would never keep in my own kitchen, they were so fun to cook with.

My wife and I went here for a date night, we did the Indian Cuisine. It was a wonderful experience. They had bottles of wine for sale while we learned. We met some great people at our station and the class was very easy to follow. We will definitely be back!

Great staff team building experience! Amazing, creative opportunity for even a novice home chef. With four on a team, we created two platings from mystery ingredients. Judged by our peers, teams were ranked on each plating. Points from each event produced the winning team. Meanwhile, the real chefs of AK were cooking up a delightful meal for us to enjoy at the end. So much fun!

Amazing brunch experience! I had the stuffed French toast and grits. My wife had the shrimp and grits. Everything was great and the staff is incredibly friendly! I highly recommend this place, but get there early! The classes are great as well!

Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen is amazing! I’ve taken several classes here (doughnuts, fall in the south, bread making, Mexican cuisine, cake decorating) and every single one has been awesome. The instructors are knowledgeable, friendly, and make the experience enjoyable for everyone. It’s a great solo activity or group activity, and I love the little recipe books they give each participant. I highly recommend for anyone in Charlotte looking to try a cooking class!

Unbelievably disappointed with how our experienced turned out. My girlfriend and i joined the Monday 6-9 class on 11/24 to celebrate our anniversary. We love cooking together at home and joined the class for new recipes/ideas and hopefully to learn a few tips and tricks. It was a few days before thanksgiving, and it was very clear they were not prepared to host a class so close to the large holiday. The instructor was awful to say the least. Full of attitude, poor people skills, lacked engagement and very obviously did not want to be there. They were missing ingredients, the pamphlet was printed incorrectly, missing entire recipes and the instructor even said (a few times) the kitchen was still working on prepping our ingredients. They seemed very ill-prepared for this class. Worst of all YOU DONT GET TO CREATE EVERYTHING ON THE MENU!!!! Fried plantain's, Mango Salsa, Ranch dressing, Kimchi Aioli, Tonkatsu Sauce, Salad Dessing & Ice Cream were all premade. The time we wasted waiting around for the kitchen to prepare, could've been spent making some of the dressings!! On a final note - the recipe that was missing from the pamphlet was posted in the front of the room for guest to take a picture of. Every recipe in our pamphlet is measured in Cups, Tbsp/Tps but this recipe is measured in grams. i did not sign up for a $100pp cooking class so i could go home with homework. How many average people have a food scale at home to weigh grams? I definitely do not. i had to convert the recipe using conversions from google. After following the recipe (3 times) it did not come out correctly at all. I can't tell if the conversions im using are incorrect (seems unlikely), or if the recipe we were given was printed incorrect (this is more likely the reason). I hardly write reviews, but this was such a disappointing experience i felt the need to post about it. We will not be back to Chef Alyssa's Kitchen. We will definitely keep an open mind for other classes in the Charlotte area; our expectations can only go up from here!

I sent a roasted chicken family meal to a friend this evening. We've ordered this same meal several times in the past month and it's been absolute perfection. Tonight it was very pink, which required the recipient to cook it for another 12 min in her air fryer. Through my email concerns, Chef Alyssa saw this photo and assures me that the chicken was, in fact, cooked, as her staff takes the temp of every chicken piece. Unfortunately this time I have to disagree. My friend has never had to cook the previous chicken meals sent to her this year. I don't want to provide a bad review. Chef Alyssa's Kitchen has been a godsend this year in preparing amazing food for my friend who has had many hardships. It warms my heart that there is an option out there that provides a home cooked meal. Unfortunately, we don't feel comfortable eating the chicken meal anymore. If you enjoy chicken this way, then please disregard. If you prefer chicken to be cooked more, please make sure you specify in your order as it's not described this way on her menu.

I had the most fantastic experience here with Chef Gloria (and Chase and Gabe) for the African cooking class. The class was fun and informative and the chefs were so helpful and bright! Overall an amazing experience and I can't wait to go back

I did a Mediterranean cooking class with chef JaQuari. He did a great job at explaining the steps & the meal was delicious. I would definitely recommend!

I was invited to attend a cooking class here with a work group. What a fun event. A disclaimer that I do not know the cost. There were wine being served by the sponsor of the event. We made 3 courses with the Chef providing instructions and the ingredients. The kitchen was very organized and the chefs were very knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. We got to taste the fruits of our labor at the end and made a few new friends at the event. I would love to do a team building event here.

Scheduled a cooking class for the wife and I for the Feb. 11th (Valentines Day class) and we loved it!! We didn't attend with any other couple that we knew but ended up placed with a lovely couple and Chef Alyssa even dropped Into the session with feedback. Our class was in a private room with Chef Clayton. I've never been to a cooking class and enjoyed this experience as a whole. We purchased our wine to enjoy during the session. I would love to rent out the private room for a family session.

Had brunch here pre-COVID and loved it. I didn't love the long wait we had before receiving our food, so I dropped a star. But I'm a sucker for brunch and I loved the French toast! I also loved the green KitchenAid mixers as a baking enthusiast. I'd love to try a class here and I'll definitely return for brunch.

Five Yelps! This was our first time participating in Chef Alyssa cooking class and it was nothing short of amazing! The wild game cooking class was very organized and Chef Alyssa walked us through all the recipes, step-by-step. We had an amazing time and met/made some new friends. You're allowed to BYOB but if you don't there are alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages available to purchase on site. Definitely a great date night idea! We can't wait to check out brunch!

For Christmas, I gave my son and DIL a gift certificate for a cooking class at Chef Alyssa's - I thought it would be a great date night for them. But, with him finishing his fellowship, welcoming a sweet baby boy and preparing to move to a new city, they just couldn't find the time. I contacted Chef Alyssa's and was able to transfer the cooking class certificate to a certificate good for her carry-out menu. I placed an online order for pick-up. It was pouring down rain when I got there and parking was frankly a nightmare but in the end, it was so worth it. I ordered two family meals - the stuffed peppers and the flank steak. Each came with two small sides, a house salad and fresh rolls. Each meal was supposed to feed 4. The entrees were so large that they probably could have fed 6. The house salad was beauty in a cardboard container. Impossibly thin slices of pink radish set atop fresh greens, sliced cucumbers and diced tomatoes. The salad also came with walnuts, housemade croutons and a lemon vinaigrette. If you added a side of protein, the salad would definitely have been large enough as lunch for two. I chose a variety of fresh roasted veggies for my sides. They were all delicious with the exception of the roasted cauliflower- not sure why, but none of us were fans. I also added an extra side of mac and cheese - a good call - it was delicious! In addition to a solid selection of entrees and sides, grain bowls, salads and desserts helped round out the menu. Wine was available to purchase by the bottle - much needed after a day with a fussy newborn. I still wish the kids would have been able to enjoy a night out, but, the alternative, a delicious meal, was a good substitute

I'd been eying Chef Alyssa's Kitchen for some time, and finally got an opportunity to visit for breakfast one Saturday morning with my husband. CAK is located in the Brewers building off Yancey. Just park in the back of the large Brewers lot, and walk towards the back right corner of the building to find CAK. I wasn't sure what it would be like to eat in a place primarily used for cooking classes. CAK has a large, bright space. The tables are well-spaced, and comfortable for dining. You order at the counter (credit card payments only), and they'll bring your food when it's done. Ours took maybe 10-15 minutes - not long! I had the pancake tacos with added cheddar in my eggs, and my husband had the Latin TBD with adobo chicken and his egg over medium. They happily obliged our modification requests. We also got their berry pastry. Their pancakes are absolutely delicious. They aren't too sweet, and are perfect with the eggs. The bacon is super thick, and nicely crispy. My husband loved the TBD. The chicken was so tender and delicious, and his egg was perfectly cooked. The sauce and potatoes were a perfect complement. We also got coffee, and their dark roast coffee is nice and strong. They offer both cream and almond milk to lighten your cup. We really enjoyed our meal, and will definitely include CAK on our regular breakfast rotation!

Absolutely horrendous. Our instructor, Gloria, should not be working with the public. She's not a people person-- to say the least. She made multiple members of our party very uncomfortable. We were all looking forward to this experience, and unfortunately, we were let down. I will say that if it wasn't for this particular member of staffs behavior, I think it would have been an enjoyable evening.

One of the best birthday presents ever from my son, was a night of Cooking at Chef Alyssas kitchen. Beautiful facility. light and bright with all the extras you would want and need. We went to the Stuffed Pasta Workshop, where we made Truffle Ricotta Agnolotti, Sausage Tortellini, And Pumpkin Sage Ravioli. It was explained step by step and we had all the tools and equipment to make a perfect Pasta. All the helpful hints and background was explained by Chef Alyssa, and she had 3 helpers that were walking around and available to help and give us great hints. We made all three pastas and were able to cook one and she had given us some delicious tomato sauce to use. Wonderful Parmesan Reggiano also. She teaches 9 classes a week and does take out menus also. What a fun and informative night, will definetly be coming back!

It started with the coffee to the blueberry muffin then the breakfast bowl. Flavors just erupted from ever sip and every bite. Young students are taking orders and serving. It's a lumberjack camp style tables where you can set next to anyone. You order, and get your drink, a little cream and sugar in my coffee then sit at your table. The first sip of coffee just tossed me back. It was rich dark roast without the harshness. Very smooth. The potato bowel was so full great flavors. Several different types of potatoes including yams, sweet and regular. On top was a perfectly prepared sunny side up egg. Crispy on the bottom, whites all cooked and the yoke liquid. Best egg I ever had. Then the chicken, nicely spiced with a tiny bit of heat. Then the avocado tied everything together with its simplicity. No sense in talking about how nice the place is or the service because: Five stars just for the fantastic food that brought a tier to my eye.

Charlotte is treating my belly well this time around! My mother and I decided to grab brunch Saturday Morning and this spot has been in my bookmarks for some time now. My mother was game for checking it out. We arrived around 11:30am. The place was easy to find using the Waze app. However, it took me to the street entrance where there is no parking. I had to bypass the restaurant turn left and go towards the rear of the building. There is ample parking available. When we walked in I noticed a few people sitting at tables and several standing in line to order. Since I read reviews prior to coming, I knew that we had to order at the counter, get a number and find a seat. They have an effective process going on. The cashier takes your order and another staff gets the drink ready, basically as you are ordering it. You are given your drinks prior to leaving the counter. Please note that there is a sign offering a disclaimer that because food is prepared to order it could take up to 30 minutes for your food to arrive. The seating arrangement is open. You basically sit wherever you can fit in. That may mean you are sharing a table with strangers. I like the idea because it force you to be social. Another thing to note is that everything is basically self serve. There is an area towards the back that houses silverware, cups for water, salt pepper, napkins etc. there is a separate section for coffee additions such as milk ( they have almond), sugar, honey etc. There was a young lady walking around clearing tables as patrons left. However, for the most part you are doing it yourself. Our food came out fairly quickly. If I had to guess I would say 10-15 minutes. I had the Modern Southern Bowl with tempeh. My mother had the Merguez Toast. My only complaint is the temperature of the food. My meal was neither hot or cold. I was surprised by this given the sign about food being prepared to order. I think for my meal It is put together to order and an egg is fried and placed on top of previously prepared food. In spite of the temperature of the food, I would still say my meal was tasty. It was spiced well and the flavors blended well. It was very filling, I could not even finish my portion, and I can eat! My mother also raved about her meal. One additional thing that I want to give credit to is the cleanliness of this establishment. I never saw the rating posted anywhere, but I would imagine they have an A. Everything looked clean, even the restrooms. If you are looking for a nice place for brunch offering gourmet quality food that will not break the bank, this is your spot. We had the two meals mentioned above, a mimosa and a coffee for about $35.00.

I ordered a family meal to go. I was so excited that I wouldn't have to cook for a week! That quickly turned into not only do I have to cook, but I wasted $$$. The side salad was okay. I did enjoy the lemon vigrette. These spiced carrots. Yuck! Huge dried chunks of carrots with cumin. Heating them per the instructions didn't cook them. 0/10 would eat again. The peppers - "roasted and stuffed with smoked cauliflower and feta cheese. Topped with a Smoked Tomato and Roasted Garlic Sauce. (Vegan option without cheese.)" I went with the vegan option since I don't eat cheese and no way this pepper was roasted or seasoned. It's raw and flavorless. There is a small dollop of the sauce with no extra. The sauce has a nice flavor, but there is so little of it it cannot save this disappointingly flavorless pepper, raw cauliflower (with no smoked flavor) chunks and soggy eggplant. Huge fail overall. Edit: I called for a refund. They only refunded a portion of the total cost. A gesture of good will would have been to refund it all or to offer to make me something different to redeem the quality they stand behind. They then commented on this whining about how this review ruins small businesses. The review doesn't ruin their business, the poor quality of the food and customer service that argued with me does. My review was detailed and accurate and I stand by it 100%.

I've sampled some of Chef Alyssa's food before, so when I heard they were doing brunch, I was so excited to try it. We went on Saturday just after 9am and we were the only ones there (everyone else is probably still sleeping at that time). You order at the counter, take a number, find a seat, and they bring your food out to you. We got the Pancake Tacos, the Modern Southern Bowl, and the Stuffed French Toast. Everything was amazing, but the Stuffed French Toast was probably our favorite. The over easy egg and fresh berries easily made it the best French toast I've ever had. I loved the pancake tacos. The flavor was great in the pancakes and scrambled eggs and the thick cut bacon put it over the top. I'm not even a big pancake person, but these were great. The Modern Summer bowl eat light and refreshing. It definitely felt like a good healthy option compared to the other things we got. We added some of the homemade hot sauce which really complemented the flavors. We got our food quickly and the everyone was so friendly and helpful. This is one of my favorite (possibly my favorite) brunch in Charlotte. Highly recommend!

Brunch: delicious with slight tweaks to the classic favorites; Cooking classes: tasty and healthy (be prepared to stay a while). Ever since they moved to Yancey, they've opened a kitchen/restaurant where you can dine for brunch from 9 am - 2 pm on Saturdays. It's a great way to start the day before brewery hopping. For a good pre-drink day, I recommend the Pancake Tacos, with three fluffy pancakes stuffed with thick slice bacon and eggs and accompanied with a spiced maple syrup. So filling and do worth it! The space is airy and open, with a lot of seating and a good handful of menu options. Classes here are super fun! You don't have to worry about bringing any supplies except for your own wine! I've come more than a handful of times over the years -- on date nights, girls' date nights, and for a team building activity with coworkers. You get to be really hands on at your own table station of four people, taste test as you go, get 1:1 tips and suggestions, take notes, eat what you cook, and take home leftovers! You also get to take home a recipe book, which includes cooking instructions and all the notes you take during your class. If you're beginner or experienced, the classes are catered to anyone! Alyssa is a great instructor who gives insightful tips, and her staff is very helpful and answer even the stupidest of cooking question! She even partners with Chefs around the city to co-instruct her classes, so you get exposed to a lot that Charlotte has to offer. The only downside to the classes is that they can go for 3 hours depending on the attention your class needs or the dish you're making because you end up making a side dish or two/an appetizer, entree, and dessert -- this means that if your class starts at 6:30 you might not start eating until 9/9:15pm...and if that's on a weekday then that's a pretty late night. Other than that, I love Chef Alyssa and her husband Andrew (who does the social media and PR for Chef Alyssa's Kitchen) -- they're great people who love to bring sustainable, healthy cooking to the masses.

I got a cooking class here from my wife as a birthday gift and it was a great time! The staff were super helpful and fun and we made some great ramen!

My company did a cooking class here and it was a really enjoyable experience! As far as how affordable it was, not sure. We were able to cook 3 courses & they mixed in challenges to make it fun! Definitely worth trying out with a group or for a date night! ‍

Want a different date night experience or a great team building event? Chef Alyssa's kitchen is a great option for either! We came for a holiday work party, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I figured the cooking would be "pre-done" and you just mix and go, but that's definitely not the case. You are chopping, mincing, sautéing and everything in between. There is step-by-step instructions, as well as a take home cookbook, but there are also instructors walking around helping you with every step. And they aren't elitists telling you that you're chopping wrong or anything, they are supportive and helpful! After everything is done, you get to do the best part- eat! It's a full portion too, not a little taster that you have to split between 30 other people. So, grab a bottle of wine (byo), tie up your apron (they provide) and have a great time!

Christmas Present from my Son and his family, absolutely the best gift. Enjoyed the basic cooking class. Learned knife skills, great instruction, preparation, execution of dishes, and much more. Staff were helpful and friendly. Would recommend to anyone.

We loved it. Came w/a group of female friends & we loved it. Let's talk about the bacon 1st as that was the only thing that would put the tiniest of little rain sprinkles on what is otherwise a glorious rainbow. We were assured at the counter that it would be 2 healthy slices of bacon. Now let me tell you it was a running joke all day. it was one long piece of bacon as generally seen in a butcher's case cut into 3 pieces that fit on a saucer. Like were they running low on bacon & decided to split into 3 pieces, serve it w/a flair & say look 3 pieces not just 2 which in itself was funny. Didn't get a pic before it was gone unfortunately. 2 of us couldn't decide so split the french toast stuffed w/an egg & the shrimp & grits. Can't taste the egg but def need it to not go into an absolute sugar induced coma on the spot. The bread was thick but can still can't it w/your fork, berries right amount of sweet & the syrup was just the cherry on top. Shrimp & grits - healthy amount of shrimp w/real stone ground grits. These aren't your man w/a hat on grits. They were cooked just right not like the future purees I'm looking forward to at the home. The sauce was oh so tangy to counteract that grits don't have a lot of flavor by themselves. Just a bit of fat like a extra sharp cheddar cheese, havarti or a gouda and these would be sheer perfection. Half the table sampled the savory grits dish which seemed like an adobe style pulled pork over grits. That dish by itself was just literally ok. Pour the leftover french toast syrup over it & the table couldn't get enough! So tip if you order this get a syrup on the side & it makes all the difference in the world.

I recently took a class at Chef Alyssa's - what a fun experience! I highly recommend signing up for a class ASAP as I know they fill up very fast. The class I did was a Cooking with Beer dinner, so there was a rep from Brewers at Yancey to assist us in pairing dishes with different beer samples. I love that the classes are BYOB- they even have wine glasses, cooler, etc. You cook at stations - usually four people to one cooking station, so I really enjoyed getting to talk and cook with people I didn't know. The only thing I would recommend is bringing a snack or eating a little before, as we didn't eat until all 5 dishes were done- which was about two hours after we started. I had so much fun and really learned a lot from this class. It's definitely motivating me to want to cook more at home! I will definitely be signing up for another class soon!!

A few years ago, Ted and I received gift certificates to take a couple classes with Chef Alyssa. We've been fans ever since! We love the small group size (you cook with a team of 4 and total class size is about 20-25) and how hands on the classes are. This is not one of those boring cooking schools where you watch the chef prepare and cook everything then get a little taste at the end... Participants at Chef Alyssa's prepare, cook, and plate your own 3-course meal. Alyssa and her husband and business partner, Andrew, are some of the nicest around! I'm constantly amazed that they remember us, months after we take a class. I'm sure they meet hundreds of people a week -- there's no way I'd ever remember us, but it makes me feel special that they do. This friendliness is what inspired us to approach them to host our rehearsal dinner. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect event to kick off our wedding weekend! They were able to accommodate our group of about 60 people with a delicious spread of prepared appetizers (charcuterie, spreads, etc.) followed by the most amazing cook-your-own tapas stations. Guests floated between 4 stations, making spaghetti squash and brussel sprout cakes, stuffed squash blossoms, shrimp and grits, and chicken and waffles. Besides the amazing, interactive food stations that kept guests mixing and mingling all night, other highlights included the seasoned staff they hired to man the stations (chefs from Community Culinary School of Charlotte and Little Spoon) and the fact they're BYOB! We emptied out our beer and wine collection and were not only able to save SO much money that way but knew we'd be drinking our absolute favorite beer and wine all night long. While I love their current spot in Atherton Mill, I can't wait to watch them expand to their new space in lower south end. I really can't encourage you enough to take a class with Chef Alyssa and/or consider them for your next event. We love Alyssa and Andrew and look forward to many more fun, engaging, and TASTY cooking classes in our future!

Ummm. Yeah. Completely impressed. Full. And in love with Chef Alyssa's Kitchen. Husband is a breakfast connoisseur and hard to please in this category. The dude wolfed down his breakfast sandwich in 3 minutes. The grits took 20 seconds. He looks down at his plate with saddness because it was over so fast and so delicious. I laughed. I still had half my breakfast burrito and as he eyeballed it, I put up my fork and said "YOU. SHALL NOT. PASS." My burrito was so good and the fruit was so fresh. I have nothing but good things to say. And I'm glad I finally tried it. On a Saturday I suggest going around 9:30am or waiting until about 12. We got there at 9:30 and it was quiet and not busy. At 11 it started to get packed. Husband is still talking about his sandwich and wants to go back and try the French toast!

My review is of brunch only. This really is the best kept brunch secret in Charlotte. They do an order at the counter system and they deliver your meal to the table. Honestly, it can be a bit overwhelming when you step in there and see a long line, but it moves quickly. The earlier you can get here the better. I love the decor of the space. She has a definite brand and color scheme going, and I'm really digging it. Plenty of room to sit inside or out. It always seems like there are a lot of families with small children, so this place is family friendly as well. On our first visit we got the shrimp and grits and the short rib and grits. Both were fantastic! Excellent really. Seasoned well and very flavorful. Good portion for price. Our second visit we got the breakfast burrito and a breakfast sandwich and weren't as impressed. I'll just stick to the shrimp and grits. I also enjoyed a mimosa with sorbet. I have friends and family who are vegetarians and there seemed to be plenty of options here. Check it out!

Brunch! Completely agree with others assessing this as a hidden gem in Charlotte. Especially surprising with the location being right in the middle of all the breweries (Olde Meck, Sugar Creek, 4001 Yancey, etc), but I suppose most people aren't getting up early on a Sunday. Fortunately, this was a perfect excursion when our a six month old daughter was wide awake, but my wife needed a little nap to catch up on sleep after a long night. The simple atmosphere let's the food really take center stage. The biscuit basket was an obvious order, but these small, healthy bites are on the other end of the spectrum from Sunflour or Bojangles. Still, a great thing to share! Pancake tacos really need no description and they are appropriately listed right at the top of the menu. I was VERY impressed with their structural integrity after being completely soaked in maple syrup. De-lic-ious! This isn't the kind of place you are going to take a big group and hang for a while, but a excellent choice for a date or even takeout.

Truly 1st class. My spouse and I attended the Boozy Baking class with Hailey, April and Jordan. The chefs are industry experts! I have no experience baking and they made the class so easy to follow. We were gifted the class and last minute the school learned of a food allergy. They went above and beyond to accommodate for a cinnamon allergy. It was simply amazing and we can not wait to take another class!

Chef Alyssa's is the best brunch in Charlotte! The biscuits are some of the best I've ever had and they are huge. The Latin TBD is also delicious and the perfect portion. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a casual brunch experience on Saturdays! We have also done the cooking classes which is super fun for a date night. The food always comes out great and we have now incorporated the new skills (like cutting an onion) to our home cooking skills.

*Brunch Review* This is a FANTASTIC Saturday morning brunch choice!! If you have ever taken a Chef Alyssa cooking class you know she knows her stuff, and now you can eat her food without having to cook it yourself! The menu has a number of vegetarian and gluten free options. I ordered the Modern Southern and subbed the house bacon for tempeh sausage. We also had some fresh fruit and cheese grits on the side. The cheese grits are seriously heaven and were my favorite part of my meal. The space is great, very open and bright. You order at the counter and seat yourself. There is also a private room you can book if you'd like. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely be back!

I like eating at new places every weekend and I French Toast is one my favorite breakfast items which the Stuffed French Toast here was AMAZING! You can taste the quality in the freshly baked bread, especially when you add the fresh fruit and pecans its Top 3 in CLT for me. Pancake Tacos were good and very filling. Eggs were a little salty but good overall. I was a little confused on how service worked due to how there was no directions about who got table items for you like Silverware, napkins, and water.

TLDR: The food is bright, flavorful, and fresh. The vibe is trendy and casual. The servers are short but sweet. The stuffed french toast is one of my favorites. Consider Chef Alyssa's Kitchen for a relaxing Sunday brunch.

I attended a knife skills class. I learned far more than I anticipated. Most importantly, I need sharper knives! Our learned skills were used to slice and dice sweet potatoes, carrots, peppers, onions, and garlic. The veggies were roasted and Chef Alyssa prepared eggs as a protein for our salads (see photo). The facilities were appropriate for all attendees and everyone had a great time. We also learned how to correctly slice an orange and a lemon for proper use. Attendees were invited to BYOB to go with the food. I worried about those who were drinking during the class but I was the only one who nicked my hand (removing diced veggies from the knife). I can hardly wait to attend another class with Chef Alyssa. This was an awesome experience!

Brief update on hugely delicious (and time saving) family table meals! We have always loved the classes and the brunch but the pandemic turned us to their family table meals. As restaurants have reopened, CAK stuck with the meals and they have been so awesome. 2 weeks ago, we finally got hit with COVID (both parents!!) and their family table meals were perfect so we could all eat well and our kids didn't have to eat microwave mac n cheese AGAIN! Can't wait for our next order. And always order the orzo whenever it's on the menu. ALWAYS ORDER THE ORZO!

Very cool thing to do! I went to a cooking demo as part of a meet-up group special so I did not get to do any actual hands-on cooking :-( still I had a great time. Chef Alyssa is super-sweet & very receptive to questions. She keeps it very practical and simple in her instruction (think "cooking for dummies" ;-). I actually left the demo feeling like I could potentially make the dishes that were featured (ha!). After the demo, we were given samples of what she had prepared. My only gripes is that there were no alternative options prepared for the samples that are offered for people who may not eat meat/beef. I can't detract a star though because I don't eat beef, she was great! Chef Alyssa is located within Atherton Market. I visited on a wk nite and the lot was packed, so just a tip to arrive early to allow time to find space. I certainly recommending trying at least one class as she offers quite a variety of types of classes. I certainly am looking forward to attending an actual class soon!

Smell that? It's that delicious Grilled Pizza my group and I made on Wednesday Cooking Class. Moving to a brand new city, to people I don't know at all is hard (no surprise here!) So, I booked and participated in my first Chef Alyssa cooking class at Atherton Mill. I met some new nice friends, I made pizza dough and ricotta cheese (from scratch), and had a great time. Notes: - Chef Alyssa was very thorough and personable. (Shoutout to her crew.) - Roll up your sleeves and learn few fancy knife techniques. - Bring a bottle of wine. Or two but who's counting? - Good for a date night, fun night, or just because night. - The class runs about 2 hours; wear comfortable and closed-toe shoes. Five Yelps.

After a long night out at a concert we decided to try Chef Alyssa's for brunch. When you arrive you order at the counter in the back then snag a seat wherever you can find one. One thing to note; they don't take cash, it's posted on the door. Also they have a little sign when you walk through the door about how food can take upwards of 30 minutes and that held very true. We ordered the pancake tacos and breakfast burritos with a beer and I i tried to order the sorbet mimosa but they were out so I got a regular mimosa. The pbj rolls were eyeing me at the register but I held back; next time I'll be ordering multiple baked goods! There was a group getting up so we were able to grab a table pretty easily. While we waited they had old class cooKbooks available so we read through those and took one home. All of our food took a while to come out and came out staggered so we spent a good amount of time hanging out at the table. One of the girls ordered the bagel and lox and the bagel looked delicious. The burrito was hefty and different than a typical breakfast burrito. The pancake tacos were good and I enjoyed the syrup with them. We also looked at the take home menu and I would definitely look into ordering and picking up a meal sometime.

Chef Alyssa's is the best kept secret happening for brunch in Charlotte! Set in a beautiful cooking workshop where she holds her classes in Lower South End (LoSo), the vibe is light and inviting and the perfect cozy casual (but not too casual) Saturday morning brunch spot. The food lives up to the billing with unique dishes like pancake tacos and a coffee rubbed short rib and grit bowl on a menu filled with items that give you that "wow I want to try that" feeling! I had the morning buzz bowl and it was just the right amount of food and flavor (with arguably the best grits I've had in charlotte). Can't recommend here enough for brunch!

This was such a fun experience and a great way to kick off the Holiday Season. I definitely will be coming back!

My fiancée brought us here for a date night. We are avid cooks, and happen to love Spanish tapas which was the theme of the evening. We were paired with another couple for team work and off we went! It's not a dinner, or a short class, it's an experience! It was approx three hours before we were eating, so don't show up famished. Alyssa and her staff took great care of everyone. Our meals turned out really good considering it was our first time making some of the dishes. You're able to bring your own wine in as well which is a plus! Wouldn't recommend this as a first date spot, as you're captive with no escape routes! But maybe a third or fourth. Overall we had a great time, had a really filling dinner, and felt like we certainly got our monies worth! We will be back!

Awesome place for a date night, a group event, or even a rehearsal dinner! I've actually done all 3! Alyssa and Andrew are two of the nicest people we've ever met! She does the cooking and he does the business side of things. Right now they are located in Atherton Mill, but they will soon have a much larger space in LoSo. They offer a variety of cooking classes regularly for everything from beginner meals to advanced, from Mediterranean to Latin Street Food. Prices are reasonable for all you get, usually around $60 per person. Tables work in teams of 4, but if you really want to work alone, you can pay a little extra for a private station for 2. For our date night, my husband and I worked with another couple to make leg of lamb, stuffed squash, and a dessert. You can BYOB and it's a fun night out where you learn a little something, eat a lot of something, and have a great time. You get to keep the recipes to take home with you too! You can also book private classes for your office or a birthday or whatever. I recently did a class with my coworkers for team-building and we made a Latin Street Food menu. It was a great shared experience that we now have together and the food was amazing... again! Lastly, we chose to have our rehearsal dinner for our wedding here. The set-up for that is a bit different... so instead of having people stay at tables as groups of 4, the tables are turned into small-plate stations and guests have the opportunity to mix and mingle and learn some skills as well! Everyone loved this set-up and we were even shocked when one of the grandfathers proved he WAS able to make his own food haha! Alyssa and Andrew helped us out with some prepared appetizers and planning a perfect custom menu. Oh and they also have the best playlists :D

A great experience for my first visit to this charming breakfast spot! I had a little trouble finding Chef Alyssa's Kitchen but once I entered I was pleasantly surprised by the great setup of this cooking school/restaurant! I processed to the counter and I was greeted by Chef Alyssa and her staff. The menu selections all looked appealing but I narrowed my choice to the Shrimp and Grits! My meal took a reasonable amount of time to arrive! The portion size was definitely worth the money, I could tell they used fresh ingredients and it was perfectly hot! A great fun spot for Saturday breakfast/brunch and I definitely would love to come back to try one of her cooking classes! Thank you Chef Alyssa and staff!

This was an awesome date night I bought my wife for her birthday and would highly recommend this experience to anyone regardless of cooking experience. The night we selected was a Mediterranean night where we prepared sea bass, fried sunchokes, stuffed grape leaves, and meringue for dessert. We met in Atherton Mill where all of the ingredients are already portioned out and Chef Alyssa is in a rigging that felt like kitchen stadium with microphones, mirrors, and cameras so you can follow along with ease. Initially I was concerned as this class was listed as a intermediate skill level bordering on expert. My wife and I are no strangers to the kitchen, but working with a pro chef can seem intimidating! Fortunately my fears were unfounded as the instructions were easy to follow and their was a ton of help floating around. Overall the night was a blast and the food turned out terrific! We both are looking forward to booking another class soon! Pro Tip #1: it's BYOB, so class it up and bring a bottle of wine. If you like to party like me, bring 2 as you are going to be there a while. Pro Tip #2: Be sure to start looking waaaay in advance as they fill up fast. I had to work with Andrew to find a spot - fortunately he is extremely helpful!

I had the pleasure of participating in 4 classes as 2 date nights and 2 family dinner events. Each class was unique and they were all a really great experiences. After the first class we learned so much about cutting techniques and ended up making a hearty Italian menu that was incredibly delicious that we had to go back. I can proudly say that I am much more comfortable in the kitchen because of Chef Alyssa. My family dinner duties have extended past clean up and errand boy to bringing some sort of dish for the meal! It really is a perfect date night, bring a bottle (or 2) of wine and get social with your table-mates. I highly recommend Chef Alyssa's Kitchen!

I had attended a handful of cooking classes the past couple years in Charlotte, and after Chef Alyssa's Kitchen, I realized that those could only really be described as demo dinners. Chef Alyssa classes are the real deal. She let's you get your hands dirty and even trusts you with sharp objects! The majority of the lesson is taught with Chef Alyssa at the front of the class and some helpful camera work projecting an up close view of the important moves on the screen above her. Her helpers walk around frequently to provide guidance and take care of distribution and clean up. Once in awhile Chef Alyssa well also check on your progress and answer any questions. It was so fun cooking and nibbling and making new friends at my station. At the end, she invited us all to sit together on the cool long custom bench made of repurposed doors and dine together on our proud creations. The food was so good that I immediately put her complimentary cook book of the night's lesson to use and repeated the meal the next day for family. Thanks for making me look good, Chef Alyssa!

Do you like cooking? Do you need a fun and unique date night out with your love? Do you simply like food? Chef Alyssa's Kitchen has it all! I have known about Chef Alyssa's Kitchen for a while now. I first met Chef Alyssa at a Yelp event where she did a mini demonstration for us. After this event, I told my husband that the only thing I wanted for my birthday was a cooking class with Chef Alyssa. Fast forward a few months (her classes fill up fast, so sign up asap!) and we were treated to a fantastic and educational Friday evening class. First off, Chef Alyssa's husband and business partner, Andrew, is fantastic! He responds to emails so quickly and genuinely wants to help organize your experience. We arrived on Friday and took our spots at one of the tables. You work in teams of 4 to complete the meal. After the meal is over, everyone sits down to eat. For our meal, we made stuffed grape leaves, sea bass with sunchoke chips and puree and berry meringue. It was an intermediate level class and I felt like the pace was perfect. Chef Alyssa and her assistants walked around throughout to give tips and answer questions. I thought the steps laid out were easy to follow and very methodical (hats off to Chef Alyssa to be able to create a menu that is a. easy to follow b. can be cooked in the time period c. can be coordinated appropriately using an oven and range so that all food finishes at the right temperature at the time needed. All in all, a fantastic evening. I am literally about to go on the website after this review just to look up more classes. Pro tip- BYOB. They have cups and bottle openers available.

Came to try the place. Excellent food and staff. I had one of the brunch bowls with short ribs and it was delicious. Wife had the stuffed French toast and loved it. Definitely will be back.
