This is in the new West Side Bazaar, to replace the one that burned in 2022. The new location used to be a bootleg warehouse during Prohibition. Suitably, there's a bar on the first floor!
Chef Big Wayne and his nephew Kyiree were happy to see us: Buffalo was bracing for another storm (1/22/25) and many chefs and customers had stayed home. Very friendly service, amazing aromas from the stove as the order was being prepared, and a quick filling of our order. We chose to eat in the comfortable food court, open daily 11-8pm.
The food was delicious! Slow-simmered oxtail stew, caramelized from hours of cooking; a curried goat meal with carrots and potatoes perfectly seasoned and tender, with mac and cheese, with cabbage cooked with a hint of spice. The plantains were lovely. We also loved the Ting soda in pink grapefruit, and a sorrel/ginger soda, both Jamaican favorites.
