The 19 Best Haitian Restaurants In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Chef Creole doesn’t call itself a Haitian restaurant, but rather a Creole restaurant, and they don't only have Haitian dishes on their menu. You can also come here for Bahamian-inspired conch fritters, along with fried, grilled, and stewed seafood dishes. While all the seafood dishes here are good, the standout is the grilled conch—something that’s unique to Chef Creole. They marinate the conch in a Haitian-inspired seasoning before grilling it. The result is lightly charred, just a bit smokey, and the perfect balance between firm and tender. There are Chef Creole locations around Miami (and even in the airport) but the one on 54th Street is our favorite because it has a drive-thru and a little tiki hut you can sit and eat in." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino, carlos c olaechea

Google
The service was outstanding. Our server, Server’s Name Marie, was attentive without being intrusive. They provided excellent recommendations and were knowledgeable about the menu, which made our choices easier. It’s clear that the staff is well-trained and genuinely cares about their guests. And remember my name ..

Google
The best Fried Shrimp that I have eaten anywhere. They are seasoned, fresh and still supple even fried. Other selections were also great as well and at moderate pricing.

Visiting from NYC and stumbled upon some amazing Haitian food! I was hoping for black rice, but the griot and fried snapper did not disappoint. The food was packaged beautifully, and it's easy to see why this spot is a Miami favorite!

Google
When I say the people at this restaurant don’t have the common sense they were born with. I called 18 times regarding my DoorDash order which they gave the driver the wrong food. So I reordered my food and the dummies at the restaurant said this order was already picked up because they saw my name previously instead of checking to actually see if it’s another order and every single time I called a child answered the phone. I asked for an adult they hung up. I asked in creole the adult then said who’s that and hung up the phone. Remind you this is their business number posted on their website. Smh. And black owned businesses wonder why we as black people hardly support them because they let family do whatever they want in their businesses. Do better chef creole this is the last time l I’ll order from them.

Yelp
Best Haitian food in the 305....Hands down!!! It doesn't get any better than this spot, legendary restaurant that graces South Florida in different locations, you can never go wrong with Chef CREOlE .

Yelp
Kiki and Mimi over in North Miami running chef Creole and making it feel like the original one but better. Flavour conch fritters and service that will have you asking for red velvet and even more.

Yelp
On a good day they absolutely kick ass. Better to order online and have it delivered, it's very pricey. But well worth it. Quite delicious and the food always has a fresh taste which I love. Haitian food is mouth watering and chef creole has the right idea! Plus they deliver with care and efficiency. So I'll bump it up to 5 stars! You guys rock. Thanks.

Yelp
Very nice ambiance, clean and friendly staff. We ordered the fried lobster meal and 2 conch and a shrimp platter. The food was fresh and delicious!!!!! The presentation was stellar. An exquisite meal indeed. Hats off the server , chefs and everyone who is apart of this establishment, loved it!!!

Anie R.

Yelp
Oh my words for $23 bucks I got so much foods & delicious too!! Definitely this is going to be my spot to go!! I got the fried fish, it served 3 of us! So so good! I also had just had to try the red velvet cake thou I thought it was pricey for such a small piece, I brought it anyway one word "YUMMY"! Ps-they renovated the place it took awhile but happy it's finally done & opened! I went back. Also need to compliment the staff they're truly nice & friendly.

Yelp
They have got to work on improving the customer service. The North Miami location has 1 window to order and pick up the food. It makes no sense to wait in a drive thru line and not be able to order until the car at the window leaves. They don't answer the phone to take orders either. The staff should greet customers and acknowledge customers. "Sorry for the wait we will be with you soon" goes a long way. Besides that the food is good. Depends on what you order I suppose. I enjoy the chicken and fries and the fish fillet.

Jay M.

Yelp
Visited the north Miami location today and ordered conch fritters. When I got home and bit into them I bit something hard that turned out to be a hard piece of plastic. I tried calling the location to advise them but of course their was no answer. I attempted to reach out to them another way but there is no way to contact them that I can find.
google avatar

Yelp
I was visiting Miami and tried this restaurant. The food is great but the neighborhood isn't too safe. The fact that you have a security guard with a gun in the parking lot tells a lot. My anxiety was at an all time high when a confrontation potentially could have turned out for the worst. Thank God for maturity. If I am in Miami again and decide to eat Chef Creole, I rather go to a different location.

Maggie D.

Yelp
This place never ceases to amaze me with how unorganized they are. It's pointless to have a drive thru option when no one shows up to take your order. People either drive off after waiting too long or parked their cars in the drive thru to head inside to order. Either close the drive thru if you're short staffed or take orders in the order people actually arrived. I waited over 20 minutes in line before having to exit my vehicle and rather than apologize they made excuses. Horrible Customer Service always. This is why it's hard to support black owned businesses this doesn't happen at Chic-fil-a. They just lost a very loyal customer! I won't be back. So many options for Haitian food in south Florida.
google avatar

Hilda U.

Yelp
I love Chef Creole's while fried fish, my husband and I can share that meal siento how much food it is. It is extremely delicious and reasonably priced.

June S.

Yelp
Visited on March 19,2022. We waited literally almost two hours after placing the order. No one came back to the window to say anything about the wait. After getting the food, we waited another twenty minutes for our drinks. The food was awesome but the customer service needs a LOT of work! 54 st. is much friendlier! If you want some good food, go there, don't go there hungry!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm still surprised that Haitian cuisine is still largely unknown, especially since it shares a lot of similarities to other Caribbean food that most of us locals are familiar with. There are distinct differences, however, take Pikliz for example. It's a sort of condiment that pairs well with almost anything, but especially for fried food like Griot which is a better executed version of Macitas de Puerco (fried pork chunks) in the latin food world. What's nice about Chef Creole is the accessibility with it's drive through, but the no-frills inside is nice to eat in as well. Food is made to order so keep that in mind when in a rush for drive-thru.

Yelp
I always go to this location; however, when I went on Thursday, May 13th I had the worst experience ever. First, they have a sign in the window that says basically, no extra picklies, but you can buy a jar or pay separately for extra. I placed my order and wanted to purchase a jar of picklies. The order taker said oh we aint got none (not kidding), so I asked to purchase extra small containers of the picklies, she said no we don't do dat (lol). Normally when someone that is supposed to be providing customer service is rude, I simply leave, but my daughter wanted the lemon pepper wings and the red beans and rice, so I went ahead and ordered. I ordered for me griot with read beans and rice. Got home and everything was absolutely awful it's like they must have a new cook. The rice and beans were flavorless absolutely no seasoning, the griot was bland, and the wings were very salty and should have been called salt wings and not lemon pepper wings. The customer service experience I had and the taste of the food, I will never go there again.

Yelp
I really do enjoy chef creole. This restaurant has been a staple in the neighborhood since before I was in high school. Not to age myself but I'm talking over 15 years ago. I find this location to have better food than the location on NW. 2nd Ave. a.k.a. 441 not to say the Miami Gardens location isn't good because it is this one is just better and always has been. The rice is more flavorful the food just tastes better I don't know what it is. This location also gives you more fried shrimp than the location in Miami Gardens which I find odd but whatever. I am slightly disappointed in the prices that keep rising but I do understand that the costs of surviving in South Florida is going up as well and attributes to the cost of the food continuously rising. I'm speaking of the shrimp and the conch specifically. I do have one added suggestion which would be for them to make a fried conch and fried shrimp meal combined. OR bring back the fried conch appetizer because back in the day you used to be able to get fried Conch by itself as a side/appetizer...now you have to get an entire meal for $16. That would be a great idea especially for those of us who do not eat meat and only eat seafood.

Yelp
Chef Creole is a Haitian drive-thru restaurant... kinda a neat concept for one of Miami's underrated cuisine! And the food that comes out of here is good, despite the appearances of the two-chains restaurants looking like a dive with no table seating inside. There's a bar you could just chill and eat on though. This location is indoors, while the other location is more divey and open-aired. At least I think so, but that's what it looks like when I drove by the other location the other day. One thing that's a shocker though... despite the lowly exterior and interior, they charge high prices in my opinion. I had the steamed conch for $15.75. A drive-thru restaurant charging $15.75 for a meal - yes you read that right! Yes, it was good, and yes the portions were big, but a drive-thru restaurant should be based on simplicity since you're on the "go!" But to be fair, that wasn't the cheapest thing in the menu. It was mid-range with some plates in the $20s and $30s and others in the $10s and below. So really, you can find something to match your budget should you decide to come here. And that's probably the draw of this establishment. But is it worth it to come here? Honestly, I don't know, but it may be if you want to get something from a drive-thru establishment. But if you're not in a rush, there's many other Haitian restaurants in the area around this location and around the other.

Gabrielle S.

Yelp
I like this chain, but could you please update your hours for the North Miami location.

Claudine M.

Yelp
Update yall hours online an also train your staff to not pick up an hang up on ppl when they are tired of hearing the phone ring it takes 2 seconds to tell someone that y'all are closed I waited in my car in the drive thru 6:29 pm -7:15 just to get the window locked in my face no sorry for the wait nothing an I also can see staff eating while preparing the food with no mask or gloves in sight

Yelp
As a Haitian. I want to say this restaurant is truly a blessing. The ambience gives you a feel like you're in PAP, which i loved.

Nikitta N.

Yelp
Good tasty, I definitely can't deny the great flavoring however my last visit was probably my last I placed my order and sat at bar and waited...... waited.... waited until guest number 5 came in and got there food before, I asked the woman taking the orders she looked at me and said she never sent the order back..... BYE!!!! TF my time was literally on the house, I lost my appetite and went right back to running my own business should of sent over and Invoice for trying it

Sandy J.

Yelp
Nasty attitude Unprofessional Bad customer service Long wait time Fish was soggy Bad communication between employees and customers Will never patronize this business again.
google avatar

Leiba L.

Yelp
The moment you walk in you are greeted with warm smiles. They have multiple of flags hanging from different Caribbean countries which I thought was a nice touch. The lighting was good and the floors and tables were clean. There were pastries in a glass display case and specialized drinks in a refrigerator begging the counter as well as fountain drinks. There are tables inside but no table service, you order your food and retribution yourself. There are a variety of condiments to chose from I opted for the pickleys. My date ordered the garlic shrimp and I had the fried shrimp. Both entrees lacked flavor. The garlic shrimp was gummy and undercooked. The fried shrimp has so much batter the shrimp disappeared in it. I will not be going back to this establishment as it was t to my liking.

Clodiane G.

Yelp
This place is a good go to when a woman need to eat some good food at a cheap price. There is a drive thru and a sit in area as well. The service is always great and the people are nice. The service is fast and now they deliver through foodxdelivery.com
google avatar

Tricey J.

Yelp
This place is the worst. Drive thru, order inside, doesn't matter you will be here for a hour to simply carry out. These people move as if time does not matter. The women taking the orders are extremely slow, they don't pay attention to who ordered what, don't remember if u paid for a drink or not just a mess every single time! You can wait in the drive thru for 20 minutes while they help everyone inside and they will come take the order of the cars behind you first. Today the rice was greasy and oily after waiting all that time. I have given this place enough chances to say never again.

Yelp
I am from NY and everytime I come to Fl I try to get some good Haitian food before I leave. I remembered last time I was in FL I ate at Chef Creole which was really good (not this location) so before our flight we were looking for a place to dine and chill. I mentioned Chef Creole and everyone agreed ( I didn't know they had multiple locations) we put it in our gps and drove to this location... I knew it wasn't the same one I went to before but since our flight was in a couple hours we decided to order the food there anyways.... so we get there 1st thing "only cash" the CC machine wasn't working.. cool no problem so we asked the young lady in the front for an atm around and she had no clue where there was one... we went outside and got it cool. We came back to order & ALMOST everything we asked for they didn't have . We ordered random things... saw a sign that said "free samples " they didn't even have that (mind you we were there at like 1pm... then we get our food we asked for extra Pikliz ( we couldn't even get that) even SAID WE WOULD PAY FOR THE EXTRA PICKLIZ homegirl said no . Very unorganized in this location I'm not sure about the other ones but for me to hype this place up to my family and they didn't even enjoy the food or experience . I don't think I'll ever be back
google avatar

Fiorella B.

Yelp
Food on point and quantities are huge but NO COCA COLA! I mean if I'm going to have fried greasy food I'll be dying to get an iced cold Coke with it! Food was fast, we went on a weekday and they were almost closing. We ate at the place and even though is not welcoming at all I really loved the food. I am coming back probably tonight just because I just remembered how good it was!
google avatar

Shikira H.

Yelp
Oh Chef Creole, how I love you so! I love that you're right down my street AND that you have a drive through. I love that your dishes taste like momma's island cooking. The flavor in your; rice and peas, Stew Chicken, Fried Shrimp platter, Griot, and Conch Fritters just to name a few...are the BEST in the neighborhood. The list goes on with my family favorites but I highly suggest to try my top choices, but aim to try everything at least once. Their menu is 'cooked to order' so prepare yourself for a short wait if you didn't call ahead. I especially love their friendly staff that are always happy to explain dishes to first time customers who no nothing about Haitian cuisine. That's always a plus. My undeniable love for island food runs deeeeep. Thank you Chef Creole for keeping my island flavors alive.
google avatar

Gena L.

Yelp
I decided to give them a try since I loved their food since high school but fortunately I'm not sure what happened cause I tried their lemon pepper chicken wings dinner and the chicken was so hard like it was some leftover chicken they refried. The rice was about the only thing fresh in my plate... I have been coming here for years and they tried it. Never again will I come back .

Dee L.

Yelp
Thank you Chef for sponsoring and feeding our school's basketball team. In addition to the great customer service, the food was nutritious and absolutely delicious. Our boys advanced to the next phase and we attribute that to the support given to them. #greatfoodgreatservice

Yelp
Disclaimer: I really like Chef Creole. Now... I have been to this location numerous times, whenever I'm in the area. This is the case for today's visit. I called in my order, lunch wings plate at 2:15. I walked in at 2:50 with 2 people waiting and one employee working the front. It took her 5 minutes to acknowledge me and to ask my name for pick up. After this, she continued to work with the customer before me (as she should have) but instead of going to look for my order, she proceeded to go to the next person. Unbeknownst to me, she never assisted the 2nd customer. I got her attention again only for her to ask the order once again, then go to the back where the order was never filled. I left empty handed because there was no haste or regard for any of the customers, whether walk-in or pick up. There is more I can say about my experience but I won't besides the fact that this is my last visit to the West Dixie location. This is not like Chef Creole at all.

L C.

Yelp
On 1/29/21 I stopped at Chef Creole Restaurant on West Dixie Highway. I ordered 2 plates of griot. When I got home, I noticed the small size of the black Styrofoam plates, these were not the regular size white ones. There were no lettuce and tomatoes, that you typically get with griot. EVERYTHING in the plates were salty. The rice had an overwhelming taste of dried oregano. The fried pork was not well colored, it had no epis or citrus, just salt. The meat had some pickled like chopped onions on it, even that was salty. Owners of Haitians Restaurants need to know that they are cooking for a large range of people, their cooks cannot packed everything with salt. I regretted my $20. This is my first and last visit to Chef Creole Restaurant.

Larenz S.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to eat hands down. Stop in and get their fish fillet I promise you you won't be disappointed. It taste so good!! Wish I could give them 6 out of 5 stars.
google avatar

Kathi C.

Yelp
I'll get my one complaint out of the way-I suppose that since the place is mainly take-out with a few seats for dine-in customers, they don't allow you to use their bathrooms. That was pretty uncool. However, the food was good. I ordered the oxtail, and it was tender, meaty, and very well seasoned. I could've done with a little less salt, but I know they cater to the masses, not just lil' ol' me who likes my food light on sodium and heavy on taste. All the dishes come with rice and peas. Normally, I would prefer to have a choice of cabbage or other leafy vegetables, BUT this rice and peas side was so moist and the rice so plump that I pretty much inhaled the whole thing in one sitting (and happily lay bloated like a whale the rest of the night). I'm not sure what was in the marinated onion condiment that came with the oxtail, but that was great too. I'd pour that on almost anything and eat it. I tried my dining companion's fried catfish and that was tasty too. Not too peppery and only lightly seasoned, but good. The guy next to me ordered fried conch, and it smelled terrific! The gentleman at the counter who helped me was very gracious and helpful- he recommended the lemon cake to try next time. I think I will come back for the conch and the lemon cake!
google avatar

Maria Seti L.

Yelp
Wow! Very very unpretentious. I mean, try not to look around too much because this is not a fancy place by no means. I would say more like an islanish feel. They do have drive thru. The food was very good! I ordered the fried shrimp and it was accompanied by their creole rice and beans with a side of plantains. The shrimp were excellent! Not sure what breading they use on the shrimp but it enhances the flavor more than it over takes it. As for a side of their version of Tartar Sauce (eat it with the shrimp.) My favorite part was their automatic side of their house encurtido (tiny container of hot sauce with pickled cabbage) I mean cabbage is not even my favorite but add this to the rice and beans and trust me-you will be sold. I am planning on buying a large container of this stuff next time!

Yelp
This was the first Chef Creole that I ever visited & I plan to do a review on the other two that are on this site. I think Chef Creole is wonderful. It satisfies my Haitian-American pallet. I'm a fan of the shrimp, conch, pikles (spicy cole slaw), banan (fried plantains), & conch fritters. I never tried the lobster or fish but I plan to one day. The food is always fresh & hot, doesn't seem like it was thrown in a microwave at all. This location is not sit down, it is more for take-out. There are cool celebrity pictures all over the walls. And some Haitian paraphernalia is scattered about the place. I've never had an issue with the service or language barrier because even if they couldn't speak English, I could speak Creole. I often find here that sometimes I feel like I pay way more than what the food is worth IMO *Disclaimer: I am not paid to do any of my reviews. I'm just a consumer who was sick & tired of not seeing any reviews (good or bad) on many of the South Florida establishments that I frequent or have visited in the past.

Peter Z.

Yelp
This place has great food but there employs make you not want to go back I just left there asked for 2 orders of conch fritters got home noticed there was one called them 3 time's got put on hold for 10 min when I was there I also asked for a pineapple smoothie as we're watching her make it she adds strawberry we told her it's only pineapple she looks at my wife and says well I already added strawberries ‍‍‍ this will be my last time going there I'm sure there's good conch fritters in the area with people that actually want to work

Synn W.

Yelp
Every single time we patronize this location it's something . I love haitian food and have been eating it for over 10 years but it's always a new way I should have ordered . I'd rather take the long drive to the one in LH then order here they are not as precise as lh. Their difficult ways really detours non Haitians from eating here.

Yelp
I had had the pleasure of tasting Chef Creole on many occasions as they catered several meetings at my old job. Craving some Haitian goodness I decided to order some takeout. We ordered the Lobster Tail, Conch, Shrimp, and Fish complete dinner for about $33. This location is definitely not in the best area, and there were many shady characters lurking about. Good thing I found parking right next to the entrance so could pop in and out. The sheer amount of food we got for $33 was staggering. We had one container for a whole cooked fish, another for the lobster, another for the conch and shrimp, and another for the beans and rice and plantains. I also asked for some extra creole sauce although it definitely was not needed. The food was absolutely incredible, well spiced and delicious. If you are not used to eating cooked conch it can be a little chewy, but I thought it was great. The shrimp and fish were in a creole sauce while the lobster was steamed with some butter. We were able to feed 3 people with the completed dinner and definitely had leftovers. Great deal for about $11 a person. If you are looking for some GREAT creole cooking, order from here! Just be sure it is not dark and don't wear your watch or jewelry when picking it up....
google avatar

Toya S.

Yelp
I ordered the conch fritters and they were pretty good, I think the conch was a tad to rubbery but other than that they were the best I've tasted so far... My friend ordered the stew chicken and she really enjoyed it... and I ordered the oxtail for my kids and they tore it up... it must have been good because their picky and don't like spicy food but none of them complained... so I guess that's a go, Lol. The staff at this location was very very friendly (Good Customer Service) and very very helpful... I'm planning on returning in a few days so if anything changes I'll be sure to update this review...

Yelp
Chef creole always hooks it up with their food. I always come here for their fried shrimp with rice and chickpeas or whatever they call it, with a side of tostones..... Sooo soooo good! Especially for $12 you get a really good portion.

Yelp
I love Chef Creole ,I've known about him for about 15 years maybe more I found him at Gombay in the Grove. Now that I'm in NYC every time I go back Miami he's a must stop. Love the BBQ conch and lobster always yummy. In closing I've never ever had a bad meal there.I wish him and his staff all the best. HEY CHEF WHEN YOU COMING TO THE CITY???

Hollywood P.

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite restaurant to go to! Seafood is the best you'll find in Miami no doubt! The fish fillet is my favorite dish, it tastes so good! 10/10 recommend. Check em out!

Lynette R.

Yelp
I do enjoy their food but if you don't take phone orders then DONT TAKE THEM !!! I always order 30-40 minutes ahead but when I get here I still wait 30 minutes so why take my order ??? It's to the point that I don't even want to come anymore . I will either go to another location or try a different Haitian place . Customer service should be a priority!!
google avatar

Denisse P.

Yelp
Loveeeeee this place always, the fried chicken and rice is amazing, big portions and cheap prices. The service is GREAT. Well mannered employees. I was also surprised to see more Hispanics then anything. (I'm Hispanic myself). Can't beat this!! Keep up the good work all.

Maggie C.

Yelp
I purchased the stem fish although it cost it was DELICIOUS. The seasoning was perfect the fish wasn't spicy it was JUST RIGHT

Yelp
My to-go place when it comes to ordering Lambi in this part of town. It is stew conch and it is delicious. I never eat in but pick up order and eat home and one order is so generous that u can feed two to three people with it. Love the flavor, the authentic rice, and that feeling of being in the Caribbean at each bite.

Yelp
My sister raved about the food after tasting it at the Yelp culinary carnival. We searched Yelp to find the restaurant but didn't realize there were several locations so we picked this one. After a long drive we arrived to a run down, extremely small take out restaurant with few seating inside /outside and a drive thru. The service was poor and very slow. We waited a little over 30 minutes for two orders which was flavorless. The conch fritters were the most tasty but not enough for a second visit. I
