Chef Elsa Ecuadorian

Very tasty authentic Ecuadorian food. Had all the traditional menu options to choose from, we went with the carne and fried fish option since it was a special for the day. Tried both the rice and beans and yuca sides which were equally good. They served everything fairly quick and all of it was a good portion to share amongst 2 people. Theres some seating right out front of the truck so ate there which was nice. Good prices $12-15 a plate since we picked more of the pricer proteins. They also take all forms of payment and deliver so thats a bonus if you’re not in the area. Will definitely come back to try more menu items!

Delicious Ecuadorian food with friendly and eager small family food truck. They have a wide and varied menu of all types of popular stews, soups, side dishes, and drinks (morochos) and more! Though admittedly these local spot in Ridgewood now has numerous, delicious Ecuadorian vendors, Chef Elsa is pretty darn good and worth a stop. I have had mainly a few different secos and grilled meats, and love the seasoning and textures (desirably chewy and tender). Though mostly take out, they have basic set up of plastic chairs and tables for those, like me, who are so eager and famished and want to eat on the spot. To my knowledge, none are proficient in English, but they will try their best to communicate if you don't know any Spanish. I use a free translation app on my phone to help.

It might feel crazy to get ceviche from a truck but the seafood is delicious and the sauce is well balanced. Comes with a little white rice and roasted corn, and hot sauce spicy enough to burn the tip of your tongue. They have a table if you want to sit and eat, but they wrap it up well so nothing spills if you’re headed home
