Struggling Filipino Restaurants Will Feed Bay Area Health Care Workers and Others in Need - Eater SF

"Nick’s on Grand is another location of the pioneering vegan Filipino restaurant chain, operating on a limited takeout basis during the pandemic. It participates in the Filipinos Feed the Frontlines initiative, providing meals to local hospitals and vulnerable people. The restaurant receives payments for the meals it serves as part of the initiative." - Luke Tsai

Wow this place was delicious! & the customer service was absolutely phenomenal. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and felt well taken care of throughout my entire visit. My server was a very kind woman who went above and beyond. Even refilled my coffee three times without me asking (major points). She also helped me pick out my dish since I’ve never had Filipino food before. I’m all about trying new vegan places & this place is worth dropping by! Flavorful food & welcoming vibes.

My wife and I aren't vegan but Nick's kitchen has the power to make us conform. We tried appetizers & entrees while visiting, the crab cakes & spring rolls are both great choices. If you're looking for healthier food options or some Filipino flair head over to Nick's kitchen!

Nick’s On Grand is a cute little restaurant very simple and rustic. They have a small menu which is ok and great music playing in the background. Their veggie stir fry was nasty but the Loco Moco was absolutely amazing. I would define come back for this dish

What an amazing place to eat and hangout. The owners are two amazing people who took their time to explain the menu and everything on it. This place is so hidden away that it's hardly noticeable. nestled between a small terrace of stores on either side, you would miss it if you weren't looking out for it. The food is absolutely out of this world. I'm not vegan and I don't particularly care for vegan food but the food was that good I actually ordered seconds. They also had live entertainment going on whilst we were there. It was some light jazz and got me humming along. I would give this place a ten out of ten for spirit and double that for the food... I will definitely be back, next time I will bring all my friends and order for them just to see if they can tell that it's vegan food. Keep it up Nick's you'll be seeing me again!

This place is amazing! Such a rare gem offering completely plant-based Filipino food. My partner is Filipino and was so excited to find a place with childhood favorites cooked in a way that worked for a vegan diet. Especially love the adobo with garlic rice. We have loved everything we’ve tried so far. A big highlight on our first visit was the Turon (a fried roll filled with jackfruit and banana). I highly recommend saving some room for dessert. Can’t wait to come back for more!

All vegan, great dishes with a substantial variety of flavors for every taste palate. Filipino cuisine, American, breakfast to dinner... some notable dishes: the sizzling Sisig, the Mac and Cheese, the BLT (how do they make this vegan bacon??), and the Caldereta were fantastic. I'm taking 1 star off for the acoustics (lots of noise) and for our table being sticky. To finish on a good note, the Ube coconut ice cream and the vegan flan are great.

Amazing vegetarian Filipino food -- if you love a great non meat alternative, you have to give Nick's a try. The higher end set up, the lovely ambiance, the food, the authentic Filipino food taste and the amazing service makes this spot a must visit next time we drive 3.5 hours to SF. Glad we made the trip for this dinner!

This is a really nice place and I really want to like it. The service was good. The food was beautifully presented and tasted pretty good at the beginning but the soy and faux flavor overwhelmed near the end of the meal. The first bite of that faux bacon was ‘wow’ best vegi bacon ever. The 3rd and 4th bite was underwhelming. The garlic rice was delicious and the corned beef hash accompanied it well because it was crispy and salty (in a tasty way). The pancake was dense, flat and gummy. They have soup on their menu. I’m curious to return to try that with their garlic rice. Based on price and value, this would not be my go to for Filipino breakfast.
