Chef Rouge

"On the French flag, the blue stripe signifies liberty, the white, equality and the red, fraternity. If we adopt this symbolism, it could be said that the raison d'être of this bistro is fraternisation; something it achieves by offering great food and a charming atmosphere. Signature dishes here include grilled foie gras with figs and toasted brioche and, to round off your meal, the marvellous classic, Tarte Tatin." - Michelin Inspector

This restaurant has the cutest atmosphere, with red teddy bears as part of the decor, some even sitting at the tables! Still, the space feels cozy, spacious, and very pleasant. We chose this place because of the scallop starter, and it was absolutely divine! I’m a big fan of scallops, and we definitely made the right choice coming here. After that, we ordered two more dishes to share: the sea bass, which was super fresh, and the steak tartare, which was well-seasoned ... even the fries were delicious! For dessert, we went with the Tarte Tatin Maison, served with a scoop of cream-flavored ice cream that was simply delicious. We also tried the macarons and each one was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Exquisite French fine dining experience, well heeled clientele. Multiple foie gras options. Great bread starter with multiple spreads and dipping sauce. If you are in the area and are considering French cusine, this place won't dissapoint.

It’s indeed a very good French place. The name screams French and so the menu. It’s definitely upscale and expensive but it’s worth it. The wine selection is also quite good. I actually might go back.

Elegant French restaurant in the Jardins neighborhood. Traditional French dishes and with their special duck dishes.

The worst meal so far in São Paulo on this trip! Once a world class restaurant, now Chef Rouge is an unmitigated disaster. Expensive, limited menu, heavy sauces (not the delicate French sauces they once boasted), and such a disappointment! Many other restaurants in the area are half as expensive & have much better food. No wonder the place is empty! Stay away!!!!

Great food, mostly french, although with a Brazilian touch, not exactly like in France. Sitting outside reminds me a bit of sitting in a brasserie in Paris. Their beef tartare is the best I have eaten so far in Brazil (though it lacks cognac and tabasco). Important: they only accept cash, no credit cards! Try to get there before 8 pm if you want to get a (good) table!

Yelp
The decor and ambience are perfect. I am transported to another time and place, somewhere in France. The food is perfectly delicious, service impeccable. Hostess speaks fluent French, and the chef hails from France. The sea bass was superbly prepared, and the fresh ink pasta with shrimp and scallops was delicious. The tarte tatin and chocolate mousse tort are must-tries, as are their maracujá macarons! We'll be back!!!

Yelp
After a very nice experience at Bistrot de Paris (which I still recommend), I have found the ultimate French bistro experience. We were greeted by Christophe and nothing beats the setting and the quality of food. Even the kids dish was delicious.
