The 8 Best Lunch Spots In Denver 2024 - Denver - The Infatuation

"Chef Zorba’s in Congress Park reminds us that, sometimes, avoiding the chaos of Colfax Ave. has a lot of perks. If you worked up an appetite escorting your parents through the Denver Botanic Gardens or just finished running around Cheesman Park, hit up this low-key Greek diner. The small strip-center spot has a laid-back dining room, a small sidewalk patio, and a menu that serves all-day breakfast, an Athenian salad with dolmathes, or a gyro melt with grilled onions. Just make sure to grab a slice of honey-drenched baklava for dessert. " - Chelsea Thomas, Team Infatuation

I went to zorbas for breakfast and I would highly recommend it. They have fair prices and delicious food. They uncharged for eggs based on how expensive eggs have gotten. I got a delicious BLT. French fries are delicious but not my favorite I’ve found on Denver. The sandwich has good proportions. My friend enjoyed their breakfast sandwiches and would recommend the breakfast burrito. They have quick service and kind servers. Stop here for a homey vibe and good food.

Wonderful nice staff, huge portions, and tasty food! The moussaka was good and had the perfect amount of spices, none too overpowering. The spreads appetizer was great too. We especially liked the tziki sauce. The banana pudding was delicious. We’ll definitely come back

Google
Greeted and was told to sit anywhere. Busy local restaurant. Very friendly staff. Ordered the lemon chicken soup and chicken kabobs with rice pilaf. This was the best Greek food I ever had. The soup had the perfect v lemon taste and big pieces of tender chicken. I was told people order it in large containers for take out. I would also if I lived locally. The chicken kabobs with onion and pepper marinated, seasoned and grilled perfect . and the rice pilaf was so light fluffy . My husband ordered the gyros dinner and his gyros was tender, moist . He chose salad instead of the soup. Both our meals were large portions, we took home leftover. The desserts in the display at the front looked so good, chocolate cake, carrot cake, baklava, other choices. This is a gem in the neighborhood

Google
I have the chicken fried steak for breakfast! You get a great deal of food.. but I didn't expect to have my food completely smothered in gravy the gravy was horrible that's what made my food taste so horrible. The gravy was real pasty like they tried to hide the flour with some type of flavoring. I truly think the food would have been better if it was not disguised with gravy... I really thought I was going to come to a great Greek restaurant that served great food only to be let down. What's even really sad I got sick the very next morning it was food poisoning from the food that I had the morning before that I bought at Chef Zorbas. I was going to give you a try again but never will I step foot in that place again! What a shame you get all these great reviews but you refuse to respond to my review!

Google
Really good quality Greek food at a great price. The place was packed when we came in on a Sunday. We enjoyed the dine in experience. Lots of leftovers.

Google
We loved their pet friendly patio! Gyros sandwich was tasty, just wish there was more meat in it.

Google
Great portions and friendly staff! Popular for breakfast/brunch - they have outdoor seating when the weather is nice. I love that they do breakfast all day. They definitely keep regulars for a reason. The famous Athenian salad is on point. They have a walk up window for take out (with dog treats). Love the carrot cake!

Google
Wow, this place blew us away. It has a great variety of Greek, deli, and American comfort food. You can get anything from a hamburger, chicken shawarma, or a Reuben. The wait staff was super-friendly, and our waitress even gave us a great tip on parking for the nearby botanical gardens. Honestly, the prices are some of the most reasonable we have come across in Denver and the portion sizes were great. The reuben was fantastic and the fries crispy and delicious. This is our new favorite restaurant.

Yelp
I arrived at 715am on Sunday. I saw 2 tables occupied. I sat at a comfy booth. I was served by Rachel G. She brought out a hot coffee (free refills) and a large glass of Ruby Red Grapefruit juice. I opted for a big breakfast, Village Unusual Skillet. Large amount of hash browns topped with chicken fried steak, gravy and 2 eggs over hard. Very good. Great service. I waited awhile. Then got a parfait glass of house-made rice pudding. Yummy dessert. No service charge. Their menu has a nice range of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. While there, I saw two groups of Denver Police officers and more patrons sitting on the sidewalk patio. They have 2 gender free restrooms. Plenty of free street parking.

Yelp
Excellent Food. Best soup I have ever eaten. Lemon chicken. Service was top notch. Love this place.

Yelp
Came with a friend to try this spot! Always walk by it and finally pulled the trigger. I got the gyro and the onion rings. Food was delicious and well executed! Small mom and pop spot serving flavorful food. Service was great and swift. ambiance gave you family kitchen which are Alwyas perfect.

Yelp
Traditional classic diner food. Friendly service and variety of Greek breakfast and lunch food that doesn't disappoint!

Yelp
Love this local neighborhood spot! I think the food you get for the price here is awesome, and the waiters I've had have always been awesome! Huge portions and pretty tastey food, a favorite amongst my friends and I is the pita breakfast add gyro meat. Nothing incredible about the food overall but a reliable local spot that I am happy to have around the corner.

Yelp
This place is clean and well decorated. Always different going into a Greek restaurant vs an American one. Staff noticed us right away, even though they were tending to a large table. We were still greeted and seated quickly. Orders were taken and brought out really quick! We couldn't understand some of the complaints by previous reviews, maybe just bad happenstance. The food is good, larger gyros than Gyroz restaurant serves. Not knocking them, just comparing. My only suggestion for them is to add feta and have the Tzatziki sauce already on the gyro if you're eating in. The Baklava was also good; although I think they use a sugar syrup instead of honey, but still delicious! Overall good experience and good food. We noticed their breakfast options and will probably be back sometime to try their breakfast too.

Yelp
Best gyros outside greece and service is Impeccable. Keep an eye out for the specials they are absolutely amazing.

Jenna E.

Yelp
Service was okay but it was FAST. The food was pretty fire. Got the fried mushrooms which is a good amount! Worth it! Got the village with falafel. The falafel was tasty but small! Got the specials of the day; Greek Philly and cream of mushroom soup. It was pretty good. Cute little local mom n pop feel.

Yelp
Ordered delivery twice and loved both times. The gyro is so good and the lemon chicken soup made me feel better when I was under the weather. Only downside is I can't order extra sides of gyro. I have to order a salad or a dish and add a side of gyro. On my second order I had to get a Greek salad to get a side of gyro meat lol. My delivery came and no gyro meet I was so sad! I called in to Zorbas to let them know and the owner or manager drove it all the way to Greenwood Village to get me my meat. The service is amazing and the staff is so lovely. Thanks for taking care of customers

Yelp
Went here for breakfast a few weeks ago when we were in the old neighborhood. It was our favorite place to have breakfast during the years we lived in Congress Park. They have updated the space and the menu. The prices have increased, but that is definitely expected and they are still really good for the food you receive. The changes to the restaurant are great and I love the walk-up window. The weather was good so we sat outside and were helped immediately. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There were dogs everywhere outside, which we loved. They even received a treat from the walk-up window, which was super cute. I ordered the green chili benedict and they were very accommodating when I asked to switch out the english muffin for a biscuit and scrambled eggs for poached. It was a very large serving and really great. My husband got the omelette with gyro, feta and tomatoes which came with toast and hash browns. The only issue I had was the lack of salt in the meal, especially the potatoes. Other than that we loved our meal and the experience.

Yelp
The green chili soup was perfect. It had a good kick. The salmon and rice were alright, it was toward the end of their hours when our group of 6 came and they provided excellent and quick service which was appreciated

Yelp
Gets even better every time, definitely a great place for any meal! Staff is awesome, chefs know what they are doing, and the food is top-notch every single time.

Yelp
Hello, I've been coming to Zorbas since I moved to the neighborhood in 2012 and this one left a bad taste in my mouth. Don't get me wrong, the food is great, as usual but when the check came, I noticed a $1.50 egg surcharge and I asked the waitress does the Huervos Rancheros not come with eggs as listed on the menu with a fixed price? She said it does and proceeded to hand me the triangular stand that was hidden from my view on the table to explain their "egg problem". It would have been nice to know this beforehand because I view this as a sneaky underhanded tactic to swindle unsuspecting diners at this establishment. Best recommendation is to either let the patrons know during ordering by saying, "by the way, I don't know if you knew this or not, but unfortunately, there is a $1.50 surcharge for all orders containing eggs due to major price increases as of late. Are you ok to go ahead with this order?" Had that been known to me before I ordered my usual, I would have understood and fully sympathize with the situation. The fact that this was left out of the conversation is nothing but a money grab for all unsuspecting folks. Do better!

Yelp
Legit! Reminds me of being back in Chicago. The gyro meat was on point. We went in for "brunch" on a Sunday, just 2 of us. We only had to wait about 5 mintues or so but the place was packed! Good for them. I would love to go back for dinner. We had the gryo sandwhich and the whole hog breakfast sammy. Both were amazing!

Yelp
Favorite breakfast place! Staff have always been great and friendly and the food is delicious, I personally love the chicken fried steak. Restaurant itself is cozy and always cleaned.

Yelp
Like many others, we discovered Chef Zorba's for a convenient lunch given its proximity to the beautiful botanical gardens. It was clear this has been a popular neighborhood breakfast/lunch diner-ish place for a long time, but it was also apparent it was recently refreshed with a nice decor. I mean, I took a picture of the bathroom! As far as the food, it was filling and satisfying, but nothing particularly special. I'm a big fan of Greek salads, so I ordered their "famous" Athenian salad with gyro. The red wine vinaigrette didn't do a whole lot for me, and the gyro was a bit dry and oddly crumbly...like pieces that fell off or were leftover from slicing. Yet, the variety in the salad, including egg, grape leaves, and salty feta, olives, and pepperoncini was nice.

Jackie P.

Yelp
Great lunch. Many options for kids instead of just Mac and cheese and chicken nuggets. Great brunch still going at lunch time. Love the dessert display when you walk in. Lots of staff, friendly and attentive. Good place for family, have been here a few times and enjoy.

Brooke K.

Yelp
Excellent service, delightful food and welcoming atmosphere. You can't ask for a better neighborhood diner than this one.

Yelp
this place is vibrant and accommodating, with lots of seating. the menu is diverse, the fries and spanakopita are delicious, and the staff is welcoming. i love coming here with my family for breakfast!!
google avatar

Yelp
The BEST Greek diner (and just diner in general) in Denver. The staff is amazing and makes everyone feel like family, not to mention the food is always sooo good. Best bang for your buck and very filling, always consistent. The Chicken Lemon Rice soup is a must, along with the onion rings and banana pudding. Love this neighborhood gem!

Yelp
So the saying that goes '3rd time is a charm' did not apply to our experience at CZC! For a Friday at 5pm it was a perfect time to be sat right away and only 3 tables occupied! Great start right? And then it ends as far as a great starts goes! We received our drinks and waited 10 mins for the waiter to return, place our appetizer order and then we waited, and waited and waited! When we did get our appetizer we also got our dinner salad that was wrong and waited another 5 mins and advised of the issue! Before we got our salad back we had our dinner served! So now we have appetizer, dinner and salad all at one time....needless to say we had to send our dinner back to keep warm, while we ate our appetizer and salad. Sadly, we brought our dinner home in a to go box! There were 5+ servers so wasn't a matter of short staff maybe a case of staging or caring...not sure but we won't be back to find out..

Luke N.

Yelp
I've been going to Zorbas for 15 years and it's never once let me down. I would go here everyday for the service, food, and lovely neighborhood ambiance if I still lived in the area.

Katie K.

Yelp
Zorba's menu is quite varied. The service is always prompt. The servers are very accommodating about separate checks. The portions are large.
google avatar

Anders Christofer C.

Yelp
This place has great food and a nice indoor and outdoor seating area. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner and a big menu. I ordered the falafel sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. It took a while for it to come out of the kitchen but it was fresh and very tasty. The service was great and the personnel was very friendly.

Dorothy H.

Yelp
I have been to Zorbas three or four times now when visiting friends in Congress Park. The menu is quite extensive, not just Greek food. I had the eggs benedict for breakfast, excellent. And for dinner the gyro platter, lots of meat. The sides list is quite large so one can find a side one likes (instead of having two or three choices.) The food is fresh and plentiful, I took half my dinner home with me. One is greeted at the door and the service is really good, with lots of coffee refills. The neighborhood is nice and there is parking out front and in the back of the restaurant. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Casey D.

Yelp
Great Food & Service!! The food is so good here! The servers are very nice and hard-working. I'm not crazy about the tzatziki sauce though.
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
I thought it was only OK. I thought the Athenian Salad was fine, but nothing special. One friend had a Reuben and didn't love it. One friend had a gyro melt and said he wouldn't order it again. The only one who really liked their meal was my husband who had a green chili smothered burrito. Go figure. My husband also really liked the morning margarita made with cranberry and pineapple juices and the baklava ice cream. The atmosphere is pleasant in a neighborhood restaurant kind of way, and the service was good.
google avatar

Mel V.

Yelp
Great lil breakfast spot. All the traditional faves with some fantastic Greek ad ins! Street parking so be patient!

G J.

Yelp
Wow!!! The food was excellent and portions were good sized. Best pancakes I've ever eaten. Service was outstanding as well and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Virginia C.

Yelp
This is such a neighbourhood go to for nothing fancy but some comfortable Greek food with lots of outdoor seating next to Ace hardware. The service is always 120%. People are so friendly and accomodating with friendly pets on the patio. Things to note: 1) brunch. Brunch. brunch .... Otherwise - 2) falafel pita and soup of the day! 3) good chicken plates and hummus 4) lots of veggie options 5) inexpensive for the neighbourhood 6) take-out window and curbside pick up Love. love. love
google avatar

Gen B.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place after walking over from the botanic gardens, but it didn't really deliver on food or service. Got the hummus, a chicken wrap, and a gyro. The hummus was sad cafeteria hummus -- seemingly no oil or tahini, and definitely not what you would expect from a Greek restaurant (note to self: I should have read the other Yelp reviews more closely!). We asked for soup with the wrap and got fries instead. The wrap and the gyro were both pretty salty. I would have given 3 or 3.5 stars, but when paying the bill, they miscalculated the tip (the amount that says it was 20% was actually 25%). I noticed a second too late, but called the next day to tell them. They said they would adjust it but didn't. It felt kind of scammy.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Solid neighborhood diner with an emphasis on Greek food. We've been here a few times, getting both breakfast and dinner food and have always been pleased with it. Service is friendly and portions are generous.
google avatar

Natalie O.

Yelp
Zorbas is amazing every time we dine in. The food is great ( try the pancakes!) and the servers are always attentive. The managers are welcoming and remember you when you return! Everything on the menu is delicious!

Ted T.

Yelp
Been coming here forever. Today they charged me an extra dollar 50 for eggs. Burrito came out and filled up half the plate. got the bill with tip It was 30 bucks. Seems like a hell of a lot for a basic breakfast burrito. I doubt if I come back
google avatar

Ashley S.

Yelp
Zorba's is such an incredible neighborhood diner. The food is all incredibly good, the portions are perfect and the prices cannot be beat. The dessert counter is where the magic is really up leveled. You absolutely have to take a minimum of two desserts home. I have never been disappointed with any Zorba's experience. Huge shoutout to Zelda as well for just being the most wonderful human being and enjoyable person to converse with! Zorba's is lucky to have you.
google avatar

Saraya M.

Yelp
This place is so cozy and awesome. It is extremely clean and well maintained, and has a beautiful blue and yellow color scheme. We ordered the Rueben and the Village Unusual Skillet and they were both delicious, though I think the skillet was the best. We've had the Gyro sandwich before and it is consistently amazing also. Topped it off with the chocolate cake which was similarly bussin. Our waiter this most recent time was incredibly attentive, kind, and had scholar-level knowledge of Legend of Zelda lore. 1000/10
google avatar

Athena N.

Yelp
Cleaned off the table and had me sitting very quickly! They were extremely busy at my work. It was taken in a few minutes. I had my drink within three minutes and my food within five of ordering. I ordered the euro platter and use both my side so I can get a bowl of the chicken and rice soup with lemon Also called avgolemena. Everything is really good and it definitely was comfort food. Highly recommend to come after church on Sundays. It's busy but they do a great job handling it. If you have your puppies, they have outside seating that you can bring your dogs to.
google avatar

Bee W.

Yelp
Invited to breakfast by a co-worker. I haven't been here for breakfast before so it was a nice surprise. I still love the renovations they did. So bright and open. Street parking and patio seating. Steve, our server, was friendly and attentive. I usually get huevos rancheros but decided to branch out this time and went with the green chili Benedict. He ordered the Zorba's omelet without any carb items and Steve suggested cucumbers and tomatoes instead. My eggs were perfectly poached and the pork green chili yum! Avocado added a refreshing, creamy texture. I didn't care for the English muffin under the eggs so I skipped eating it. The hash browns were a combination of crispy and tender. I gobbled them up. He liked his omelet a lot. We had a nice meal with orange juice and coffee. Good place for breakfast.
google avatar

Donald R.

Yelp
Zorba's for Lunch We visited the Denver Botanical Gardens this past Saturday morning. We decided to not have lunch within the gardens but to eat locally nearby. It was a great decision as we found a casual Mediterranean restaurant called Zorba's. The restaurant is located in a residential neighborhood. It was already busy at 12.00pm, which is always a good sign. Our group of six were seated inside a booth. Service was prompt. We all ordered different types of pita wraps. Everyone was very pleased with their meal. Overall, an excellent spot for lunch
google avatar

Steve M.

Yelp
charming little neighborhood restaurant. this is my favorite hood in denver. solid restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream stores, all wonderfully supporting happiness and walkability. chef zorba's - nothing life-changing, just solid goodness. vast menu, highly recommended.
google avatar

Jordan W.

Yelp
Amazing service by the pearl wearing waitress! We thoroughly enjoyed our time and meal here. Nice patio option if you're in the mood.
google avatar

Kim M.

Yelp
We ate breakfast here twice and it was a perfect neighborhood restaurant. They serve bloody marys and mimosas, which a great start to brunch. Each thing we ordered was scrumptious. I, personally, loved the eggs Benedict and I also had the corned beef hash. So yummy. If have the opportunity, be sure to stop by. Also, the dogs that walked through the patio area were precious. Whole experience was perfect. Highly recommend! Oh, and the baklava, wow!!! Try it. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Karen A.

Yelp
Love this outdoor patio, but it was just too too windy today. Inside at 12 noon it was pretty busy and for an old gal like me a little too loud, we had to shout at each other. I can fix that by going on the off hours as their all day breakfast could be my safe place. Fabulous Athenian Salad with added Gyros...I was in heaven. Still am, as i brought half of it home! My two guests had a Greek plate that came with two sides..for them salad and soup. We all agreed the Athenian salad was the best as it offered cucumber, calamata olives, wonderful feta cheese, tzatziki and the best Italian dressing. Okay... I'm in!
google avatar

Visitor A.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food. I know prices have been going up in general, and prices here feel a little high. But the service was great, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. I love the seasonings they use.
google avatar

Mitchel R.

Yelp
Love this spot. Great gyros and perfect outdoor dining spot to spend time with friends and family!
google avatar

Christina T.

Yelp
Zorba's is a staple for our family. We love the food and the atmosphere but the best part of Zorba's is the team that works there, especially Steve. We started coming before we had kids and now that we have kids it's so much more than a restaurant to us. Zorba's and Steve have created an environment where we feel at home. This will always be a cherished place for us and we recommend it to anybody who wants a good meal from the best team.
google avatar

Brooke G.

Yelp
This place is good but not the most special. Somewhere between adequate and fantastic? We usually come for breakfast, but today we came for dinner. We shared the vegetarian plate and a side salad. Didn't need the side salad, the plate was plenty of food for two people. The tzatziki was the star of the show. Falafel and hummus were good enough. Service was pretty good considering they were busy and had very few waitstaff working.
google avatar

Joyce R.

Yelp
Food is excellent. Fresh quality and great flavors. Staff is efficient and work smoothly as a team. Outdoor seating is great on a nice evening. The Greek food is great and they offer a menu with a lot more options finally the Greek and Tonic was perfect refreshing cocktail
google avatar

Camsie M.

Yelp
Great breakfast tucked away on a quiet block in Denver. Our waitress started out a bit grumpy but the food quality more than made up for it. By the time we left she was all smiles and we said we'd come back any time we were in the area :) sad we missed out on the cake and baklava. Yum!
