Chef's Market Cafe & Takeaway

We have been visiting this restaurant weekly over the last 15+ years. They use good ingredients, friendly open seating and a great store. Such a wide variety of vegetables. Mexican Coke , And it’s hard not to walk out with a piece of the homemade cake. The German chocolate is our favorite. My daughter likes the cold broccoli salad. They have a whole cold deli type bar and a hot bar with different specials every day. The Jerusalem chicken is amazing and so is the meatloaf. Another favorite is the salmon croquettes. I’m sure vegans would love this place.

There was just so much food. So much. This is one of those places where you need to wear sweatpants and maybe consider being wheeled out. All kidding aside, we went with another couple and we ended up sampling each others plates and it was all very good. There is a ton to choose from, so if you're picky, there will be something there for you! The icing on the cake is literally the last thing you see walking out the door. Very nice selection of deserts that we ended up buying too much of. All in all, great stop on our travels.

I hired Chefs Market to cater for my boyfriend’s birthday. When I first got the quote, I cringed a little, but wanted the very best, so I went with it! Let me tell you that EVERY step of the way this was the most seamless and incredible process I have ever experienced. From the planning with Emalee to the Server Team that spent the day with us…it was TOP NOTCH! I seriously can’t get over the culmination of our plans to the roll out of the event. Theresa, Elizabeth, Erin and Rachel were THE MOST professional, attentive and amazing catering team I have EVER witnessed. They helped make this event even more special than I imagined. The food was absolutely DIVINE; icing on the proverbial cake! 😉 If you are considering Chefs Market for catering…DO IT! And ask for my team…you’ll be lucky if you get them.

While in Nashville today Dana found this Restaurant in Goodletsville and it was really nice. It's a market and restaurant it has a huge offering like we had the meat and two, meatloaf and two vegetables and your choice of three muffins. I would highly recommend coming here hungry, portions are huge and delicious. Everyone was nice and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely one of the best meals I’ve ever had! The food was hot and delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. I asked a question about a menu I had found on TripAdvisor. The server didn’t know the answer and, without asking, she had the chef out to talk to me. First class experience and even though I live hundreds of miles away, I will be back!!

Chefs Market Cafe was a top notch dining experience. There are a wide variety of entrees to choose from and many different side items. I enjoyed being able to pick out my food, sit down, and start eating in just a few minutes after I arrived. We were greeted by the owner and I was impressed by the courteous servers. The food was delicious and it was moderately priced. The homemade caramel cake was exceptional. Can't wait until next time!

We hired Chefs Market to cater our daughter’s wedding. The whole process was a great experience. Maddie and Christina were on top of everything from planning the menu according to our budget to helping us make sure we had everything in place that was needed at the venue to make the event flow smoothly. The staff at the wedding were courteous and very professional - Keisha our captain at the wedding did a fantastic job. We received many compliments on how delicious the food was. I highly recommend them.

I gave it a 5 star cuz the food was great, but we won’t be back. It is way too expensive for us. If the prices were posted we would have went somewhere else.

Delish!!! Savoring every bite! I had Curry Chicken Salad wrap & Orzo salad. Both were extra yummy!! Service was great. Atmosphere is so inviting. I'm from Indiana but I will be back!!!

Took a detour on our travels to Lexington for a fresh, healthy option and Chef's Market was the perfect choice! The ambience is unique and welcoming and we enjoyed the outside seating. We highly recommend the Jerusalem Chicken - delicious!

A wonderful eatery in Goodlettsville, close to interstate connections. They offer dine in or take-out, and catering. The food is excellent and the staff works hard to take your order quickly and get your food dished up. This is an upscale cafeteria style market with large portions and excellent flavor in all of their entrees and sides. We didn't leave room for dessert, but order something to go because they are delicious. Prices are about $10.00-$17.00 per meal. I got two sides and water to drink. Stopped for dinner on a road trip. Easy to find. Nice layout. Every table is wobbly - we tried 6. Food is good. There are a lot of choices. Friendly folks. Portions are good, but a little pricy for what you get...probably has something to do with 10 people behind the counter getting in each other's way.

A great spread! Order from what's prepared and waiting for you or from the menu to be made while you wait. I've been there multiple times and I always want to make it a part of my Nashville trip. We've found our favorite Nashville restaurant! Warning: It's hard to make it past their gift shop without adding something on to your lunch! Their home decor is wonderful.

So happy we stopped. This place threw me off. Ya walk in and it's a gift shop and a bakery and the deli with hot to go or sit down food is in back. They have a great variety of options. Baked chicken, salmon, meatloaf, sweet potatoes, cold salads, orzo chick pea salad. Etc Everything we got was eaten quickly. Smells like you walked into your moms thanksgiving feast. As for the bakery, we got the praline brownies. So moist and I could have eaten 2 by myself. Wow! Love that take on a brownie. Never had one like it. I could have gotten a piece of every one of the cakes but had to hold back. Our son dropped his plate trying to go out the door to eat outside. He was so embarrassed and was crying. The manager took care of him and I swear I would come here once a week if we lived here. Thank you! Amazing food and restaurant!

Enjoyed the atmosphere and food. I had the Jerusalem Chicken with Almond Green Beans and Italian Pasta. I also picked up some whole bean coffee at checkout that I can't wait to try when I get back home.

What a great place to get a southern comfort meal and eat in a casual environment. Chef's Market is an upscale/updated version of the classic Nashville "meat and 3." Definitely going to be a staple for us. Plenty of options, you can have the 'meat and 3' I mentioned or order off the salad bar. Multiple options and combinations. There are standard dishes as well as rotating specials. I had the jerusalem chicken, still moist even after sitting on the serving line. (I saw the cooks bring food out as it was needed to keep it fresh) There is also a coffee and desert bar. We will have to try some next time. (may take it to go) I am really intrigued by some of the uncommon cakes.

I came to Chef's market through a recommendation from a co-worker and I'm so glad that I did! This place serves home cooked meals with hefty servings at an extremely reasonable price! Chef's market is located at a strip mall in Goodlettsville with plenty of parking. The restaurant is actually located inside a little market that was nicely decorated for the holidays! It's very casual. You order the food at the counter and receive it immediately. You can then pick your own table to sit at. For my food, I got the Jerusalem chicken, mac and cheese, garlic mashed potatoes and corn bread. Each dish was made to perfection! The chicken was my favorite part. It was a combination of sweet and savory. It was perfectly soft on the inside. I also got carrot cake for dessert and this was the most moist cake I've ever had. The meal was 10/10 and I would get every single item again. Not to mention I had leftover for another quite filling meal the next day. I fell in love with Chef's market on my first visit and will most definitely be bringing my family here soon!

We enjoy the quality and most of the preparations of food here. We will definitely be back. One side note: 3 meals, 2 drinks, 2 slices of cake & tip = $91. We can enjoy other establishments for less cost and comparable quality. - we will still return, just not as often.

We were recently traveling for my wife's high school reunion and a friend recommend this unique eatery as a good lunch spot. This place is truly an interesting concept. They have a large catering and takeout business as well as dine in. They have an indoor and outdoor dining area with a cafeteria style ordering. A large array of fresh salad offerings including green salads, chicken and tuna salads, and many others. All fresh and beautifully displayed. There are sandwiches and a large hot food area as well. There is an interesting and unique gift shop connected to the resturant to browse. All of the food was truly a cut above and well displayed and presented. The wait staff was next level in their welcoming kindness and attention. Well done folks!! Great food and a great local concept.

Cute restaurant with a Cracker Barrel atmosphere. It's buffet style with a menu as well, and a cafeteria like seating area. The food was good and reasonably priced not anything I'd rave about. It is far enough out of the city that parking is easy.

Wasn't sure what to expect. What was delivered however, was fresh food, friendly service/smiles, and reasonable prices. Not super glamorous inside, but the service, quality, and value, is a perfect reason for the 5 star review.

HOLY COW!!!!!! Get here FAST!! This place is so amazingly delicious! Everything is soooo fresh and very tasty. Something for everyone here! I don't think I'll ever go to Cracker Barrel again. Served cafeteria style. Walk in go straight to the back and order. There's a couple of tables to eat outside and plenty of room on the inside. The staff of friendly and accommodating. The meatloaf and pot roast are my favorite! the portion sizes are perfect and you will leave STUFFED! Make sure you grab a slice if cake or my favorite the banana pudding.

Such a good find! Friendly staff and fresh, tasty food. Wish I had more room in my suitcase, the little shop in the front of the restaurant is adorable.

Highly recommend, I truly cannot give this place enough kudos. They are the easiest to work with....! I've never eaten 'in' but ordered a catered delivery menu many times. Their service, both before during and after a delivery, is tops. Highest recommendation is for you to try the homemade chips and hot queso. So good! But honestly, I've never eaten something bad, everything is delicious. Rachel, one of the girls who delivers food, deserves a raise. She could not be more kind and customer service based if she tried. Will work with y'all menu more times, I'm sure. Thanks for all you do. Can't wait to try more menu items!

Girlfriend and I decided on the pineapple chicken, loaded sweet potato & string beans. Reminds me of a modern day Cracker Barrel. Would recommend for home style cooking. Service was prompt as well

Wow this place is amazing. I had very high hopes prior to coming here, having seen the glowing reviews, and having heard firsthand from locals singing this place's praises. These hopes took a nosedive when I saw it was at a strip mall, and there was a Cracker Barrel-esque shop when entering the store, and that you order cafeteria style. Your friend and humble narrator's luck turned around upon tasting the food though. I got the Jerusalem chicken, based on countless recommendations, and as the corn kid says "everything changed." It is so perfect. I am not a fan of chicken on the bone, I'm very lazy and it's tedious to me having to eat around it. This chicken was absolutely worth it, it is so perfectly succulent. I didn't even think about taking a picture, I had to have it right away. The leftovers kept great, it was still delicious the next day. We learned to not judge a book by its cover, and that is the vast majority of people think a place is great, it's probably really really great. Cannot recommend this place enough, and I cannot wait to come back!

Wonderful spot with a great food that gives you a home cooked feeling. I stopped by here at the recommendation of a friend. It's not very close to Nashville but definitely worth the drive for a comfort food meal. Everything is served cafeteria style and the salad options are numerous. I opted for the hot chicken salad (which refers to the temperature, not the spice level), vegetable casserole, banana pudding and corn bread. It was wonderful! The chicken salad was delightfully seasoned with almonds added for crunch. The banana pudding is amongst the best I've had. I'm already planning my return!

Absolutely fantastic! We just moved here a month ago and have eaten here 4 times. Roast beef soo tender and tasty. Meatloaf great and generous portion. Sides are all very good. Never disappointed coming here for a meal like Moma would cook!

First of all, I would like to applaud Chef's for their outstanding taste in decor. The interior of this Market Café is pleasant and it pairs with the food very well. Second of all, the food is good. Chef's is a good place to eat out if you want an affordable meal. And third of all, the service is nice and fast. Your food doesn't take forever to come out, which is a hallmark of small eateries like this. Chef's is an enjoyable meal out for family and friends.

They have extremely good food and desserts. Great service too. It's a great environment.

Award winning comfort food doesn't get better than this. Chef's Market is a hidden gem located in a strip mall in Goodlettsville. It's fairly popular with the locals, yet when I bring it up to friends and acquaintances, a lot of them have never heard of it. Chef's Market has been featured in the Nashville Scene publication year after year. It's comfort food at its finest. Chef's Market has a wide-selection of sandwiches, wraps, salads, cold/hot café items are available to appeal to any palate. What's especially nice are the Vegetarian, Vegan, Paleo, Keto, and Gluten Free items clearly indicated for those concerned about those choices. Everything looks so amazing here but to be honest, the real appeal here for me is their hot café bar. The closest thing I can compare it to is going to an old Southern grandma's house for Sunday dinner, where she cooks up a storm and surprisingly enough, she's actually the poster child for Southern Living and is also a famous chef. That's what Chef's Market is. I've been here numerous times, tried different hot bar menu items, and I've never once been disappointed. This time around, I chose the Jerusalem Chicken with Turnip Greens, Roasted Potatoes, and Butter Roll. Jerusalem Chicken is a half chicken that's marinated with herbs, white wine, olive oil and slow-roasted with olives, capers & prunes. The chicken is very tender with an earthy flavor. Turnip Greens are turnip greens. You either like them or you don't. I LOVE turnip greens. There's something about the soft, cooked, hearty leaves and stems with slight bitterness that is comforting. I usually add a couple dashes of pepper vinegar to combat the bitterness. The Roasted Potatoes were lightly salted and had a crispy skin despite being in a warming pan behind the bar. Maybe I got fresh roasted potatoes during my visit but these tasted as good as they looked. If you are ever in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by Chef's Market. It's worth the drive even if you're not in the area. They have a cute marketplace if you like shopping but the food is where it's at. They do have a counter for cakes and pies, but it's located at the front of the store. Keep that in mind if you're looking to satisfy your sweet tooth. They do cater as well if you're looking to "wow" a group of people.

We ordered two Thanksgiving Turkey dinners at $17/each for Takeaway - the turkey portion was smaller than a child's portion. Stuffing was boring, veggies ok, no gravy, no cranberry sauce, in short, terrible value for our $34. We have eaten there twice and had nice salads and lunches so I gave two stars instead of one. I don't think the staff is well supervised because the food portions were so small in the Takeaway order, not to mention the missing items. This experience will impact our chances of returning. Wish I had taken a picture, you would have been shocked too.

We visited this restaurant at the suggestion of our hotel staff. We were not disappointed. The young folks behind the counter were beyond knowledgeable and kind. Great personalities and fantastic interactions with the public. It is a mix between home cooking and vegetables of all types as well as desserts of all sorts. The perfection in the tastes are beyond imagination. I will always visit here when in the area. I was granted a tour of the entire facility and met the owner, Jim Hegy. You can tell he has his heart in this business. The entire staff should be praised from entry to service and behind the scenes. This should be cloned and opened in our home town. I travel alot and whenever I'm near it's my go to spot. I have tried several menu items and I have not one complaint. The desserts are by far my favorite!

Everything about Chefs Market deserves five stars. I have been a loyal client since they opened their doors. One of the most reliable caterers in town and a favorite spot to pick up dinner, meet a friend for lunch, grab a whole pie/cake for an event, or items to help out with a holiday dinner. A few items worth mention so you don't miss them: ANY of their cakes! The flour tortilla chips and queso Hot chicken salad (get it with rice and veggies) Jerusalem chicken Tango tea Almond joy cookies Owners are very hands on, friendly, and community minded. Great local business I am proud to support!

I have ALWAYS loved this delicious restaurant! The food is perfect. It's a fast favorite! It's southern and tastes like down home cooking but also still nice enough to cater a special occasion (which conveniently Chef's Market can do!). I almost always get the meatloaf or Jerusalem Chicken, but they do have so many other tasty options regularly. The line to order food makes it easy to eye what LOOKS good to you before you choose from the menu if you are ordering your meal at the restaurant. We also order over the phone and pick up to bring home often. Recently I got the Jerusalem Chicken (so many flavorful spice explosions in your mouth), green beans, Mac and cheese (perfection), and the (soft, oh so melt in your mouth buttery) dinner roll. Amazing. But truly, it's all good, and you can't go wrong.

We have stopped here several times on our way south through Nashville. Live the ambience, the friendly staff, and the food has been consistently really good. I have had their roast chicken, a salad with salmon; both excellent. My husband keeps going back for the homemade meatloaf. The last time we brought our dog and ate outside. Lovely evening. And it is fun to look at the eclectic things they have for sale.

Chef's Market is a hidden gem tucked away in Goodletsville. The selection here is endless. Many salads, pastas, and southern favorites to choose from. The Jerusalem chicken and pot roast is my favorite. I also love the vegetable casserole and kale salad. Be sure to get a Parmesan roll with your dinner and sweet tea. Do yourself a favorite and purchase a desert to go. They have cookies and cakes to choose from. The cookies are huge. I enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie. I also noticed a selection of flavored and seasonal coffees you can purchase. I'll be sure to get a bag next time I visit. Chef's Market is worth the drive If you're not in the area.

The food is amazing. The staff is not so great ...some can be helpful, but the process is so complicated and unnecessarily plus it leads itself to dropping things and spilling things because you've got to carry everything to your table. Even when you take things to go you have to carry your soup and your drink and your entrée to check out in order to check out. It's just an unnecessary inconvenience. They should at least offer a bag. Also, they run out of Carmel cake very easily 3rd time I'm here and ran out of for the caramel cake ... maybe they should make more ??? It's really disappointing

This a great place to get delicious comfort food in a relaxed environment. They have nice outdoor seating as well which is nice. The menu varies but from entrees to desserts you're bound to find something you like.

We discovered this place on Yelp while driving through the area and it was AMAZING. We went inside to order so that we could see the food options in person - super glad we did this because there were more options in person than what I saw on the online order form. It took me forever to decide what to order because everything looked and sounded delicious. I ended up getting the 3 cheese burger which was excellent and very filling! I got the Italian pasta salad as my side which was also great. My mom got the roast beef with a few sides and really enjoyed it as well. She was obsessed with the Parmesan muffin that came with her meal and said it's the best she's ever had. Overall the portions are very generous and the prices super reasonable. The packaging for the takeout is much nicer than most other restaurants. The place was super clean and employees seemed to be following safety protocols. Tables were well spaced as well. Note that masks are required! We found the process of ordering/getting food/checking out to be a little confusing but overall we had an amazing experience and this will be a new go-to stop when traveling through the area!

Been here multiple times now and I really love this place. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 is because it is VERY loud in here during lunch hours. I cant hear the person saying the names for orders nor can I hear the person sitting across from me. The food, however, is fantastic! I have had the salmon, the chicken caesar wrap and the meatloaf. The salmon is by far my favorite item here. They have a vegetable casserole that tastes exactly like my grandmothers use to and its just a rush of memories every time I eat it. Their deserts are phenomenal and you will want to grab a slice of cake or a cookie on your way out. You can not go wrong!

A great little spot serving home made farm to table food. I enjoyed my meal with coworkers but it wouldn't be my choice. Portions were huge, meat loaf is very large but when I go out I like a little different food than this. They have what could be considered a gift shop with many items and as I said, the food is farm fresh home cooked goodness. I recommend you give it a go, you can't go wrong on your visit here if that is the taste you are hungry for. Staff is super friendly and owner is on site bringing it home interacting with customers.

Walked up to this charming family restaurant and immediately gave me Cracker Barrel vibes. There's patio seating mixed with country home decor outdoors and you walk into a gift shop upon entering. The place was clean and the staff was welcoming. The setup is "cafeteria style" which made me think of Piccadillys. I must say, watching them pour that crawfish sauce over my salmon was SOOO SEXY! Overall, the food was decent and the price was reasonable. Cheers!

I love this place! Anytime I want a home cooked meal, but I don't want to cook, this is my spot! The staff treats you like family! Always patient, always sweet, and willing to help or answer questions. The food is hot, tasty, and so delicious. I recommend the meatloaf and salmon with crawfish sauce! The sides are ALL AMAZING!!! And just for an added bonus... Do Not Leave without getting dessert! This place has some of the most amazing cakes I've ever had!!
