Chefs Warehouse - Review - CBD - Cape Town - The Infatuation

"If you’re looking for a really special dinner but want to stay in the City Bowl (the center of town), Chefs Warehouse is the best spot. This place lands somewhere between a tasting menu and small plates restaurant, serving eight shared dishes across three courses for two people to split for R800 (a convoluted math problem that works out to $25 a person). They don’t take reservations, so it’s best to show up around 5:30pm, put your name down before they close the list (which can be as early as 6pm in the summer), then wait it out at their bar next door, No Reservations, or at Gigi’s Rooftop Bar a few blocks away." - Dana Alloy

Food is sooooooooooo good. We always eat the tapas for two or the chef’s menu for two. What an amazing experience.

What a lovely restaurant! We got a cozy table by a fireplace. We got there early so luckily did not need a reservation. We decided on the a la carte menu rather than the tasting menu because we weren't hungry enough for a large meal. Everything was fantastic and fairly priced. I definitely highly recommend!

We had lunch there for the second time last week. Everything about the restaurant is fantastic. Small, beautifully presented tapas portions.

Restaurant re-opened one week ago completely renovated. Our table was at the ground floor with modern and cozy industrial ambient. We tried different tapas and the food was very delicious and well cooked. Must try the pork dumplings and the seafood guazzetto. Meal paired with two fresh cocktails. Very good service and well prepared staff available to help and suggest. We will definitely recommend it to go!

We visited Chefs Warehouse and Canteen, and while the food was good, some dishes could have been better. We really enjoyed a few, but others didn’t quite hit the mark. Presentation of each dish was beautifully crafted. Still, the overall experience was worth it!

The sharing plates are a harmonious blend of diverse flavours. Some are excellent some muted. Recommend the venison tartare, Singapore chicken. Others are good but not quite blow your socks off given the price. Warehouse style interior devoid of any noise dampening so pretty rowdy with a club close by.

I just can't get enough!!! OLIVES, OLIVES, OLIVES!!!! If you are anything like me and have an unhealthy addiction to olives, then you need to try these from Chefs Warehouse & Canteen... Garlic crisps, crispy onion rings, flavours that I just cannot explain, get a portion for the table to share, along with some bagels to soak up the goodness!! Next on the menu was the Pea Risotto :):) what a treat... Vegetarian option of this dish available too, so don't worry, the veggies out there don't need to miss out. For those with a sweet tooth, their desserts made by the talented Pastry Chef will leave you wanting more. Wine list is so carefully curated that you are guaranteed to find a wine of your preference there. Have a tasting menu and get Taras to pair each course with the wide selection of amazing South African wines. A special thanks to Shirley for being so helpful in making the reservation, Luzelle, Josh and Taras for your attention to detail and Armand for the tentative service. Although, each and every staff member treat you like they have been waiting for you all day. Thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable experience once again. See you soon
