The NYC Wines Of Provence Rosé Map

"It’s been a while since elementary school, but we assume some of the key groups on the food pyramid are currywurst, fish tacos, and wine. Chelsea Market has them all, and when your looking to check off the latter, order some rosé for pickup or delivery from Chelsea Wine Vault." - matt tervooren

For all your authentic wines, liquors and whiskeys from Italy, France, Russian, UK,North America South American and other countries look for CHELSEA WINE COMPANY.You can even order online,chelseawineco.com. Once you are in Chelsea Market don’t hesitate to visit them on the first floor. Lastly i love the woodworks used as counter and shelves. If you love wine this is your place to be.

Google
This is the best wine store in New York!! The selection is fantastic and the store is beautiful. Pedro is very friendly and helpful. He makes you feel like family as soon as you walk in. Would highly recommend this store to everyone. Will definitely be back!

Jacob Tubis

Google
I was absolutely amazed by the selection and quality of choices. Pedro was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and patient ultimately recommending an incredible port that I greatly enjoyed. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Reid Johnson

Google
Nice selection with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. I’ve gotten multiple excellent recommendations over the last few weeks. And the membership is a great value if you can commit to drinking 3 random (good) bottles per month.

Google
This place used to be phenomenal when it was in the Chelsea Market....excellent service, with a wide variety of wines. I returned to its new location, and the wide variety of wines is somewhat smaller. But the real loss of stars is due to the fact that pretty much nothing is priced. When I brought it up to the proprietor, he said "what do you want to know the price of?" and I said "this"....and "this"....and "that"....and finally I said it would be easier for me if everything were priced. He said "no it wouldn't. What do you want to know the price of?", and we returned to me pointing, and him telling me the price of each bottle I pointed to. So it took me an extra half hour to shop for one bottle; even though I knew enough about the wines I was looking at, I couldn't gauge price until the proprietor bestowed it upon me. I won't be going back.

Google
This has to be the best wine store in Manhattan. I appreciate a good bottle of wine and it’s tough to find an establishment that is knowledgeable and kind about their inventory. My experience with Pedro tonight will make me go back here even if it is out of the way. The interior is open with space and well worth the visit. Cheers!

Google
Great experience. Pedro was helpful and very knowledgeable. Selection was fantastic. Picked up a few bottles for me and family members I was visiting. Might be the best wine shop in New York City. Check it out when you get the chance.

Google
Terrible customer service. Asked to see their selection of burgundy wines, the male sommelier had to ask his colleague where that was, they proceeded to show us a single bottle randomly placed on a shelf. Couldn’t believe that was all they had to offer. Proceed to just have a look round the shop and turns out they have a selection of fine burgundy wines in a small separate room that they did not even think to show us, don’t know if that was just them assuming by looks that we could not afford those. But anyway, once we start looking in that room the guy keeps following us around, insisting for us to buy and try HIS favourite wines in another section… just an unenjoyable experience. They have some good prices for some of the finer burgundies, but for the experience of shopping there I’d rather not bother again.

Yelp
Very beautiful inside! Very friendly at the cashier. The selection of wine was great! Liquor section is. Small wall. I got a Malibu that was $43. So that was it . lol

Yelp
Is this store / storage open for business? I've been trying to take out my wines in storage but I've called and left VM several times and they are unresponsive to my emails as well. I went to the store itself on weekday but also saw that lights were on but nobody responded. With no response, I am afraid my wines in storage are gone for good.

Yelp
Walked in to get some wine and inevitably help. Greeted, well looked down upon an old man on his phone barely acknowledging me and my friends and then complete ignored us the entire time. We left.. we are wine drinker and tourist staying at the hotel across the street He probably lost few hundred dollars if not thousands with the 3 of us combined over a week

Yelp
An excellent wine store! Lots of great options and real gems if you look closely. Pedro is so great when helping you select wine, he is very knowledgeable and great listener. 5* head there today!

Yelp
We recently moved in to this area and I must say that after visiting a number of wine stores around here, this is the best one in the neighborhood! They have a great selection of wine and champagne. The service is impeccable. The staff is always very friendly and super helpful. Pedro always takes time to listen to your needs and recommends the best wines based on your budget. We will be coming back for sure.

Matt M.

Yelp
Originally was fine for storage but over time the service severely declined. Within a period of 2 months went from monthly, to quarterly, to yearly pricing. Completley unresponsive to any kind of communication and I eventually moved my wine to a new facility. I feel lucky to have gotten out. Now they owe me for the unused balance and have still been unresponsive. Several articles have discussed this decline: 1) https://whiskeyraiders.com/article/chelsea-wine-storage-stonewall-accusations/ 2) https://whiskeyraiders.com/article/chelsea-wine-storage-probe/

Yelp
Customer service here is really great. Pedro in particular is very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Great selection of wines!

Abby P.

Yelp
We just came in here to get a gift for a friend and were met with amazing service from Perdo! He took the time to understand what we were looking for and recommended amazing wines. We will be coming back for sure!!

Jake R.

Yelp
Really nice looking spot but was immediately turned off by the rude and dismissive staff. Wouldn't give this guy my money if they were the only place in the city.

Yelp
Great selection of wines in a large ambiant shop. Pedro was super helpful and generous. Highly recommend for wine lovers!

Melanie A.

Yelp
If I could pick stocks like Pedro picks wines I'd be able to afford more of what Chelsea Wine Vault carries. Seriously, Pedro is batting 1000 on the less expensive wines he's recommended for me.

Yelp
Very special wine shop and a great excuse to visit Chelsea Market!

Yelp
This place is amazing! My boyfriend and I discovered it through buying a package of 10 classes (5 each): we went to Fireplace Reds, Wine Tasting 101, PNW Wines, and more. We recently went to a Wine & Chocolate Valentine's weekend event, as well as the Cabernet Carnival a couple of nights ago ($35, there were 18 wines to try, and cheese/crackers, they were doing free tarot readings - cool but I was too busy drinking wine to partake). Most of our classes were with John Ferro, the wine buyer, who gets an A+ in my book. Classes are super informative but also laid back and fun. The "tastings" are pretty hefty in the classes as well, you're typically trying 6-7 wines and getting about half a glass with each one. Our all-time favorite was Tacos and Tequila. They bring in some $$$$ tequilas (like $800-$1000 bottles), and pour very liberally. Tacos come from Los Tacos #1, and it's a match made in heaven. Also, if you go to a class, you get a discount (10% or so) on purchases made that day, so definitely worth checking it out.

Yelp
This is a lovely wine store located in the heart of Chelsea Market, I love how organized and well maintained it is. I've been here a few times and they carry a wide variety of different wines with a wonderful higher-end selection. The wines can be on the pricier side but this is what you should expect in one of NYC's most expensive neighborhoods. Love that they also sell gift wrapping and wine accessories if you need to purchase a gift! They have chilled wine as well which is great if you want to grab a bottle to take up to the Highline. Also, now that Chelsea Market allows for open container within the market they have a variety of canned wines and cocktails to-go. They offer wine classes and have a tasting room attached to the store which I haven't participated in but would definitely check out their website for any upcoming events.

Yelp
Wonderful wine vault filled with variety! I went gaga over the collection! There's a back room for event venues. Great stop by while in Chelsea Market.

Yelp
Great little wine shop, divided by region, with a lot of options for just about every pallet. I popped in to see if they had a specific Riesling I'm trying to track down...and after just a minute a sales clerk came over to ask if I needed help. Unfortunately they didn't have the bottle I was hoping for but he was able to suggest another bottle made in the same year and had the same level of sweetness. Price point was good, I'm pretty sure that bottle was $14.99. The guy who helped me out definitely knew his stuff, as I looked around I noticed him helping out several customers - all who then made purchases. Chelsea Wine Vault is a little out of the way for me to go on a regular basis to pick up wine but I wouldn't hesitate to visit again when I'm in the neighborhood. Then again... they do host several [free] wine tastings a month ... sooo maybe I will be visiting again sooner than I thought.

Yelp
I would give this place 7 stars if I could. I'm definitely a regular, and although their wine sold at retail is marked up higher than I've seen elsewhere, the classes and staff more than make up for it. Plus, this is a great one-stop-shop for a great wine-related gift. There are plenty of accessories, bags, and trinkets to satisfy any gift-giving occasion. I learned recently that CWV is in the building that used to be the Nabisco Factory, which is a fun fact, and not at all relevant. But still pretty cool. Unfortunately, the cookie smell no longer permeates the space. I've been to several wine tasting/education classes, and I've tried over 100 wines here, and I have to say, the wino in me is always impressed and satisfied. Wine classes during the week can be a bit pricey - sometimes up to $75/person - but for a less expensive option, try the Weekend Wine School, or pick up a Wine Gym or Monthly Wine Tasting pass. It will more than pay for itself. John is my favorite instructor. He's funny, experienced, and is happy to answer questions. If you're going, say hi to John, and tell him I sent you!

Yelp
Lately, I have been shopping at wine shops and well they are not all created equal. This one by far is in my personal top 5 of best wine shops in the city. Why, you ask? I am forever looking for places where they carry a good "concealed" container for alcohol, so I can do some outdoor drinking. No, I have not resorted to a personal flask...yet. I like to drink Sophia sparkling champagne that is packaged in a pretty pink aluminum can. No one will ever know you are imbibing on alcohol in public! The cinch to this place is that they only had the Sophia cans at room temp, and when I asked if they had any chilled ones, they told me they could chill it for me in 4 minutes. Well, colour me happy, I was immediately at check-out and got my goodie within 4 minutes!

Dave C.

Yelp
I've found the place desirable. I noted someone complaining about a rude employee, never ever have I experienced it. Must be a jealous competitor- if not, tell the owner because Im sure they would handle a disrespectful employee as well as take care of the customer. I like the Available Selections!
google avatar

Bruno M.

Yelp
If you really want someone not to touch your bottles, you should make a case for them, since they are so rare. The problem is not the product, it's the service... if you come up to me with a smile and explaining why we can not touch something it would be different. Bit when you come up taking bottles from my hand with a look on your face and the best explanation is "you need our help to touch these"... again, it's all about customer service and everyone was great except for her. Maybe some training would help.

Yelp
What a fantastic experience I had at Chelsea Wine Vault. First, they have a very extensive selection of every kind of wine you can imagine. Second, the staff is super friendly and extremely helpful. I wanted to get a gift for a friend and was happy with my purchase and my friend was thrilled. They also have wine tasting classes, which I may look into...
google avatar

Anthony G.

Yelp
They have a very good selections of wines from around the world in this ultra crowded, super touristy wine and spirits shop located in the human sardine can called the Chelsea Market. The staff here are always helpful and chances are you'll find what ever you're looking for here. They also have a small selection of spirits as well. I'd rate it higher but prices here are so obnoxious that you'll seriously pay double here than most liquor stores in the city. You're paying inflated tourist prices here. Still, if you don't mind paying more, this is a great wine shop.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
Since I wrote the last review, things have changed here. Many, many more options in the mid-range price point, especially Italian and French. Bright, well-arranged for browsing, and staff is friendly and helpful. Still a bit on the pricey side.
google avatar

Jenni K.

Yelp
Chelsea Wine Vault is a great place to pick up a gift or something for yourself! The staff is very knowledgeable about different types of wine and spirits. They're friendly and never condescending, especially if you know zilch about what you're looking for. I recently stopped by to pick up a single malt whiskey scotch for a friend -- I know absolutely nothing about whiskey because it's not my first choice of liquor. The lady who helped me was quite helpful and showed me the different brands they have. She recommended one that is "hot" right now and my friend (who is a big whiskey drinker) absolutely loved it! The store is very organized and I love to just walk around sometimes and read about the different wines they have. They also have these cute mini champagne bottles that I'm looking forward to gifting to my girlfriends someday! Also, there's a cute gift wrap/wine accessory section in the front by the cashier.

Yelp
I love this place. I've passed by it a number of times (I frequent Chelsea Market). We came here for a wine tasting class - Weekend Wine School. It was only $25 which I think was a steal given we got the equivalent of somewhere between 2 - 4 glasses of wine. I'd recommend getting there a bit early if you want to make sure to get seats together. It's probably not too hard to sit together if you're on a date, but we were 4 people so it definitely made a difference. The guy who taught the class was extremely knowledgeable, or so it seemed to our group. We learned a lot about the different types of wines, regions where grapes are grown, the process of making wine...all the things you'd expect to learn in a class like this. Also, if you take a class you get a discount, at least 10%, on any bottle in the store. They have some really nice stuff so it's a great place to get a discount. You may want to buy a bottle of something you tried if you particularly enjoyed it. Otherwise, the guys (and girls) there will happily assist and recommend something.

Chris F.

Yelp
Beware. Their pricing is wildly off. At first I was excited that this place seemed to be revamped from a couple of years ago and they have a much wider selection than they used to. Then I started noticing the pricing. At first I thought it was an anomaly with a few bottles. But then I started to notice that almost everything was marked up way higher than it should be. I would encourage anyone buying (especially the high end stuff and champagne) here to make sure they do their research first. A 5 to 10 dollar difference is reasonable among manhattan stores, but in this case it was usually way more. I saw so many prices that were up to 20-30% more than they should be. If they think this is a good long term plan they are mistaken. The internet exists and people buying good wine know what the prices should be. I hope they get their heads screwed on straight soon.
google avatar

Gene R.

Yelp
Top selection of wines and spirits but most prices may force you to file for chapter 9.

Jamie S.

Yelp
Don't even think of having wine shipped as they do not know what they are doing. On top of that they break promises and they even hung up the phone on me. What a strange way to run a business.
google avatar

R L.

Yelp
Went to a tasting class this weekend (West Coast Wines). It was GREAT! The teacher was just great, he was very free and easy going but very informative at the same time. He gave you a lot of very interesting information, clearly very knowledgeable...the class was really informative and fun and airy at the same time. Loved it...most tasting classes are about drinking, this had a PERFECT balance of it all. Would recommend and definitely be back. See you soon.

Tyler R.

Yelp
All style, no substance. A joke of a wine shop.
google avatar

Jay P.

Yelp
If you're looking for something under $12 , do not go to this place. When you walk through the door, nobody greets you. It seems as though they've switched buyers and are catering more to the tourists than the actual community... really hope things change here.
google avatar

Jingwen Y.

Yelp
I am drinking the wine while writing this review. I stopped by here because it's quite charming. I was browsing on all the wine and someone helped me out with a recommendation. I told him what I was looking for and he gave me a great recommendation that met my price range. Also if you check in on Yelp, you get a 10% discount. The staff is super friendly. The store is brightly lit and everything is clearly marked. Love it here and that is definitely not the wine talking.
google avatar

Bill S.

Yelp
Last week I went to Jean-Georges for lunch and I had French Wine on my mind. I walked by Chelsea Wine Vault and asked the beautiful woman at the front desk "where are your French Wines?" She points to a huge sign that says "FRENCH WINES". A guy comes around the counter and we start talking about the different wines from France in the store. Really helpful and he steers me towards a bottle that I would have not chose without his assistance. Great pricing on wines from different regions as well as helpful staff gives Chelsea Wine Vault 5 stars in my book!
google avatar

Candice A.

Yelp
The people are very nice. They really know their stuff. Every week, they offer free wine classes and some wine classes are specific that they charge $75 for (ie. reislings and wine and cheese pairings). I'm personally a sweet wine fan and one of the employees was also nice to teach me in what to look for when looking through wines. You should stop by and chat with them because they're really nice, friendly and you can learn a lot.
google avatar

Viviann L.

Yelp
A bit pricey for some of the bottles there but quite worth it. White and red wine, sweet or dry, sake, hard liquor, you name it! They have a few different kinds of sake and their bottles are beautiful. Very nice service and there is wine tasting too!

L W.

Yelp
Touristy, over-priced, and pretentious. Used to be an okay shop with a neighborhood friendliness before it renovated, now everyone wears an ear piece-seriously??!, nobody seems to be knowing of the wine they're trying to sell, at an over-priced cost. The service is very abrupt and the shop overcharges nearly every bottle they carry, you could walk one block from them and find something 40 dollars for what they ask for 60 dollars. And often the overpriced bottle is sold without a smile but with a stare. A very strange team of staff.
google avatar

Yu P.

Yelp
Very good customer service this evening. One of the bottles I had purchased earlier today was fermented. I know it can happen sometimes and it's the luck of the draw. When I called to inform them they were happy to exchange the wine for another.
google avatar

Whitman T.

Yelp
Visited Chelsea Wine Vault from North Carolina. Picked up 2 gifts for friends and later decided to have them shipped. Because I paid for shipping on a second transaction, the shipping stayed in limbo. After contacting Ashely Williams at CWV, and a little team work, she discovered the breakdown. She quickly remedied, and even shipped the gifts Next Day Air. What excellent customer service, even when there was a little confusion. THANK YOU CHELSEA WINE VAULT and AshelyWilliams! Will continue to do business with these guys!
google avatar

Barney B.

Yelp
Walked in on a Wednesday evening and helped myself to a $30 pinot noir. I felt good so didn't mind it being a bit pricey. Went home and googled the bottle and to my surprise it was, on average, $10-12 dollars cheaper. As another reviewer said, do your research.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
We love visiting here every time we're at Chelsea Market. They have fun events where we learn more than anticipated and they have a good selections of wines you don't see everywhere. I really recommend the wine tasting 101. We had a great time at bourbon and balls, which was sampling 9 different bourbons and catering the the meatball shop. There is a Pappy Van Winkle tasting I'd love to attend, I'm sure it'll be great, but it's a little too rush for my blood (understandably) Some prices are okay, others are expensive, but it's something we excepted due to its location. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and take advantage of ordering and shipping wine by the case, if you find something you like. Cincin!!
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
Wine from all over the world safe is friendly and very helpful Great for exotic wines doesn't have same wines as local liquor stores See you soon wine vault

Gary N.

Yelp
Most cold useless employees ever. I've had warmer welcomes at a funeral. This isn't even taking into account the outrageous mark-ups on their wine.

Ross A.

Yelp
Staff was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Recommend not patronizing this establishment.
google avatar

K R.

Yelp
Nice selection. Friendly staff. Cute location. Their sale wines were very nice. Highly recommended. Bought two bottles for $15 each and they were very good. Nothing like some chilled rose or sparkling in the hotel room after running around in the city all day in 90F heat.

Mike F.

Yelp
No smile, no help, outrageously inflated bottles to make rent. I understand the rent issue but not the cold hearted customer service.
google avatar

Kimberly K.

Yelp
Great wine shop right in the Chelsea Market that sells a variety of wines, accessories and spirits. They even sell a sustainable Sauvignon Blanc called "The Oyster" that restores 100 oysters to NY Harbor with the Billion Oyster Project!
google avatar

Raymond L.

Yelp
Need a bottle of Dom to post on Instagram? They got it, need it in a gift box for a bday gift? They got it. Need a champagne gun to shoot the bottle of Dom? They got it. How about nice bottle of wine for when your parents come visit you and you have to put on a front that you're not spending a mortgage payment worth of rent each month? They got it. Oh and did I mention that it's usually cheaper than the liquor store down the street from your apartment too?!
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
I've taken the Whiskey 101 and the Wine and Cheese of France classes at Chelsea Wine Vault, and both were so fun! I learned a pretty good amount about both subjects, and found it to be a nice balance of education and drinking :) Highly recommend the classes - they're great for dates or with a friend!
google avatar

Courtney M.

Yelp
Love Chelsea Wine Vault, not only is the wine selection spot on, but they also offer fun classes, free wine tastings so that you have the opportunity to taste the wines they carry, and believe it or not discounts. I went in the other day looking for a nice bottle of wine as a gift and a bottle, called The Oyster Wine, caught my eye because of the pretty shell that is attached and I thought "how cute"! As I was reading the label, it turns out the wine is Vegan and it helps restore NY's oyster reefs. Such an awesome cause and the presentation makes it the perfect gift. Thank you Chelsea Wine Vault you never fail me!!!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Vladamir and the rest of the staff know there stuff. Set with in the Chelsea Market, this shop is an experience. They carry a fantastic selection of both high end and affordable wines. They also have wonderful tastings and good prices. I bought my '04 Messorio from them. _____
