"Chelsea’s Bakery is a mostly takeout Jamaican restaurant on Covington Highway. Regulars walk in and head straight back to the cafeteria-style hot bar, where an attendant knows them well enough to start scooping their favorites with only a nod. Condensation fogs up the plexiglass food shield where there are no labels, so if you’re new here, just ask what items are what. If their plant-based mac and cheese is on the line, consider it a must. And any of their stewed tofus and vegetables are worth a try—rich curries and spicy jerk just do something so spectacular to vegetables, which is why this place is worth it even for avid meat eaters. " - nina reeder, demarco williams, juli horsford

"Vegan spots tend to have loyal fanbases. And Chelsea’s Bakery, a mostly takeout Jamaican restaurant on Covington Highway, is no different. I’m vegan again! My body just better appreciates the food choices. That said, it’s hard out here for a V. My area has absolutely NO vegan restaurants, and I have to drive 35-40 minutes for one. The drive here definitely proved worthwhile. Upon entering, I explained that it was my first time and was welcomed and thanked with a smile. I ordered two 3-item plates just to try a few dishes. On one, I had BBQ tofu, kale, and rice and peas. Everything was delicious, and I love saucy “meat.” On the other plate I had cabbage, curry tofu and pumpkin. Loved the flavors for the most part, but the pumpkin would have to grow on me. I guess I’m more accustomed to the flavor of sweet potato. The servings are HUGE, and I ate leftovers for two days, which were still delicious after it was reheated. Thanks for accommodating my dietary needs and making this journey a little easier. Will definitely return.

Hot bar. Enjoy the baked options for dessert. They have fresh juices too which is probably the biggest value they add. The atmosphere wasn’t the most inviting. The food looked old when I arrived and they don’t give samples. It was my first visit and I didn’t enjoy that policy at all. They’re not mean people just not warm. Food is a bit pricey for what you get and all options for plant based meat is SOY! I luckily found the flavors of my selection to be good. Decent option for the community still nonetheless. I’d just enjoy better service and smiling faces that want my business. It’s always about the energy for me.

The most delicious vegan/vegetarian food in all of Atlanta's metropolitan area- period! Sometimes they have drumsticks on the buffer, if not, you can order them. They're my children's favorite and a rare treat. Their vegan cakes are so moist and rich, without being too sweet. I've been going to this restaurant for 16 years, since moving to Atlanta, and they have never let me down. Not fancy at all, so if you dine in you have to be prepared for their bathroom NOT being guest ready and dining room may be in disarray. Food- fantastic! And service is nice.

An amazing spot for vegans/vegetarians! Got the chickpeas and potatoes with rice and peas, okra, and plantains… thought it was absolutely fire!! With the large plate it’s definitely enough for a couple of meals unless you’re able to put down a ton of food. Definitely one of the top Caribbean spots I’ve found in the area in my book.

A very pleasant find of a very unassuming spot tucked away in a side plaza. The food here is excellent but most of all they give you nice portions. You should definitely give this place a try.

I loved this restaurant. A great vegan/vegetarian find. The employees were friendly and the atmosphere is nice. I got 4 items for $20 and everything was delicious. I would recommend the BBQ Tofu and Rice & Peas.

This eatery can be found just off of Covington highway. Like most good places in the ATL it doesn't look like much. The portions are huge ! So you'll definitely have leftovers. A must try is the Irish moss & peanut punch shakes. I mixed the two together & it was yummy. Healthy vegan meals that feel like mama's cooking. It is pricey..
