Chenin Restaurant - Review - Sukhumvit - Bangkok - The Infatuation

"Chenin is one of Bangkok's few wine bars, and a nice change of pace from all the fancy cocktail bars and local dives where chugging Leo beers is the primary option. They constantly host pop-ups with special menus, but the main menu itself is solid—lovely warm olives, squishy focaccia, Neapolitan-style pizza, and pastas with creamy cotechino, shrimp, and lemon. The wine list is pretty standard—mostly dominated by French and Italian producers—but they do have some interesting stuff from Japan. photo credit: Carlo Mantuano" - Carlo Mantuano

This spot is trending right now – super chill vibes and feels pretty international since there are lots of foreigners around. Even the staff are mostly international. The place is styled like a cozy wine bar, great for hanging out and chatting. It might look small from the outside, but it actually has two floors. The food overall was tasty, but the portions are really small. From the reviews, we expected the flatbread to be around a medium size, but it came out more like a small. Since we went with a group, we had to order a bunch of dishes just to feel full. • The flatbread was delicious – light crust and loaded with cheese. • The seabass was decent – not dry at all, the sauce had a nice spicy kick that worked well, but the fish itself was tiny. • The chicken was surprisingly good – grilled perfectly. • The pasta and ragu were kinda average. • The salad had fresh greens and lots of cheese, but the portion was tiny. • The bread was amazing – seriously a winner. Looking around at other tables, we realized people don’t really come here to eat big meals – it’s more of a place to drink and chill. The wine selection is great, and they have a sommelier who can help pair wines with your food, which was a really nice touch. There’s no parking, and it’s pretty tough to find a spot nearby. Would recommend using valet parking at OFTR Bar.

Loved the vibe of the restaurant! Portions were small, and the wine list while interesting was quite overpriced. The food is tasty but a little OTT. There is only so much Parmesan, salt and cream one can eat. It was a fun night but if I come back it’ll just be for drinks.

Wow, it deserves a proper shout-out. I’d heard their flatbread was amazing and let me tell you… it absolutely lived up to the hype. SO good. 😭 Since we were already a bit full, we didn’t get to try much else, which was tragic because the pasta looked incredible. They also have a solid selection of natural wines. The vibe? Dim lights, soft music — honestly, such a perfect date spot. Too bad I came with a girlfriend tonight, but we were both squealing over how cute it was anyway 😂 I’m definitely coming back. 🫶🏻

Chenin Bangkok: A Must-Try Italian Dining Experience in the Heart of the City! Calling all Italian food lovers — this is one restaurant you absolutely can’t miss! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chenin Bangkok, and from the moment I stepped inside, I was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant boasts chic, modern décor and a vibrant atmosphere, perfect for a night out with friends, a family dinner, or a romantic date. What truly sets Chenin Bangkok apart is its unique chef-driven concept. This culinary hotspot regularly invites guest chefs from over 20 countries, having already hosted more than 40 chefs. The result? A dynamic and ever-evolving menu that highlights diverse global flavors with an Italian twist. At the heart of the kitchen lies a wood-fired oven, used to bake a variety of flatbreads with bold aromas and signature textures. Combine that with an impressive Chef Counter experience and a curated wine selection, and you've got a dining destination that delivers on every level. 🥗 Start Light with a Fresh Salad & Signature Flatbreads Begin your meal with the Baby Cos Salad (450 THB) — fresh, crisp romaine leaves tossed in a well-balanced dressing infused with the zest of orange. Topped with crushed cashew nuts and crunchy croutons, it’s light, flavorful, and refreshing. Then move on to one of Chenin’s flatbreads, each bursting with creativity and character: Green Velvet (420 THB) – Parmesan-loaded flatbread topped with parsley butter, garlic, and mozzarella. Aromatic, buttery, and deeply satisfying. The Thai Pie (380 THB) – A bold fusion dish with traditional Thai-style shredded pork, flavorful dressing, and tender slices of Mortadella for a sweet, savory balance. Diavola 2.0 (550 THB) – Spicy food fans, this one’s for you! Expect rich flavors, bold spices, and a fiery kick. Cheese City (550 THB) – A dream for cheese lovers. Creamy sauce, layers of melted cheese, and an egg yolk topping come together for that ultimate umami bite. 🍝 Perfectly Cooked Pasta & Crowd-Pleasing Mains The pasta and mains here are just as outstanding — rich in flavor and cooked to perfection: Tagliolini Shrimp Nduja Oil (550 THB) – Springy, al dente noodles paired with plump shrimp and a bold, spicy Nduja oil that brings heat and depth. Lasagna Bolognese Nutmeg (650 THB) – A showstopper! Dark green pasta sheets sandwich a hearty Bolognese filling with melty cheese and a beautifully baked top. Comforting and decadent. Chicken Parmigiana (870 THB) – Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Topped with tangy tomato sauce and perfectly golden cheese, this classic Italian-American dish hits all the right notes. Great for all ages. ✨ Final Impressions Chenin Bangkok is more than just an Italian restaurant — it’s a global culinary experience wrapped in stylish ambiance and warm hospitality. With its rotating guest chefs, wood-fired flatbreads, standout pasta, and thoughtfully selected wines, it's easily one of Bangkok’s top spots for Italian cuisine with flair. Whether you're a devoted foodie or simply looking for a memorable meal, Chenin Bangkok is a must-visit.

Chenin Restaurant offers well-balanced and delicious Western cuisine. Reservations are highly recommended, as the place is quite popular. My recent visit left me disappointed. From the moment we made a reservation, we were informed that being late was not an option. However, despite arriving on time, we were made to wait for almost 40 minutes before our food arrived. To make matters worse, two out of four were a complete mess. The beef tongue was really bad, so much so that we couldn't even finish it. Although they didn't charge us for the dish, we would have been much happier to pay if the quality had been up to par. The tongue was undercooked resulting in an unpleasant chewy texture. The vodka pasta, the dish we came for, was also a major letdown this time. Instead of the usual high-quality pasta, they used macaroni, which was a poor choice considering the price we paid. It simply did not live up to our expectations. However, the flatbread was enjoyable, but the sauce was a bit too spicy for us. When we visited, there was only one staff member on the first floor, with another running up and down. This made it quite inconvenient as one person could not effectively serve the entire floor with almost all the tables occupied.

First of all, I heard about Chenin Wine Bar from Munchies on YouTube — feels like it was sometime last year. Then, just a few weeks ago, I saw a reel on Instagram from my friend. She mentioned that it would be nice to try the flatbread at Chenin. Yesterday, I finally had the perfect opportunity to visit Chenin and try their famous flatbread in Bangkok. I ordered two kinds of flatbread, the grilled branzino, and a yuzu soda 🍋🍊🥤 Even though I had my first bite of the Cheese City 🫓🧀 about 10–15 minutes after it was served, the flatbread was still soft and chewy. Every bite was filled with cheese, and the flavor was incredibly well-rounded. As for the grilled branzino, honestly, it looked a bit intimidating at first. But in Thailand, it’s actually quite common to see whole grilled fish like this at some restaurants. And once you taste it, you really stop caring about how it looks — trust me. The flavors of the fish paired so well with the two flatbreads I had. It had a touch of sweetness, a subtle heat, and a refreshing sour kick from the lemon slice. It was perfectly grilled — tender and flavorful 🐟🌶️🍋🤌🏻 And now, the final dish — the Reverse Nippon. To be honest, I’ve never had a flatbread that awakened my taste buds quite like this one. The flavor was layered, unexpected, and beautifully balanced. It left me speechless — absolutely insane. It’s hard to describe the flavor, but every bite felt like a surprise party for my palate. Honestly, I think I just found one of the best restaurants in Bangkok. This experience was truly wonderful. I really hope to come back soon — to this warm, welcoming place… and of course, for the flatbread. Thank you so much ☺️😊🙏🏻

Part wine bar, part restaurant, part cafe, and lots of artistic vibes 🔥 The menu is small but solid. We came looking for some carbs, grapes and comfort. We had the Cheese City flatbread (rich, melty, unfairly addictive), some well curated cold cuts, and a sticky date pudding that feels like a hug for your stomach. The wine list leans natural with some quirky wines from Japan and Austria. It’s a great spot to sip, share and stay
