Chennai Dosa Croydon Is One of Broad Green’s Best Restaurants | Eater London

"When Chennai Dosa opened around 15 years ago it really did set the standard for dosa and home style south Indian cuisine in south London. There would be queues every evening as the locals patiently waited to eat some of the best dosa in the country. They’ve since opened more branches around the south east of England. The Croydon original may not be as busy as it once was, but the quality of the food hasn’t slipped. Dosa is the obvious choice here. Classics such as masala dosa or mysore dosa are reliably top quality. For a light starter, opt for the sambar vadai or rasam vadai. For larger dishes, the paneer manchurian definitely trumps the chilli paneer here. Chennai offers a large menu, which will cater for all needs — two people can comfortably go all in for just £20." - Harkaran Gill

Visited on a Friday evening 🌆—the place was quite busy, but Akash was a one-man army 💪 managing the whole floor and keeping everyone updated on their orders 📝. Hats off to the chef 👨‍🍳—the mutton chukka was absolutely brilliant 🤤, and all the dosas were spot on ✅. Great spot for a quick bite 🍽️ and authentic South Indian flavours

Good ol' Chennai Dosa. Its a good chain. Food is good, but the service is tailored for the delivery drivers (as all other places of similar designation), so the visiting customers suffer a bit. Which is not a big issue but still can get a wee bit frustrating. Overall not a bad place. If service balanced between deliveries and customers visiting would be pretty decent place. Still good place to visit.

Just the best Dosas around. Delightful staff, ambiance is a wee bit stark, but you go there to eat great food!

On a day we were craving Pani Puri we found this cheeky gem in South Croydon. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the amazing Akass, who gave us the most incredible service. We are vegan and he made sure everything we asked about on the menu was described perfectly, also the chefs in the kitchen bent over backwards to make our dishes cruelty free without any hesitation. Dishes ordered : Pani Puri - delicious but could have had more filling. 🍃 Mushroom Manchurian - Absolute taste sensation 🍄 Chilli and coriander Dosa - South Indian delight 🔥 Tarka Dal - Delicate and so moreish 🥘 Poppadom Masala - tasty and firey twist on a classic 🌶️ Bill 💵 - £45 Bonus points - +10 for Service The only small downside was the Manchurian portion, I would have hoped for more considering the price. Non the less absolutely quality munch! 👌🏻

Authentic south Indian taste. Loved the menu and the taste. Staff is extremely polite. They also home deliver which is such a great thing, especially in winters. Highly recommended for all the south Indian foodies out there.

Great service, value-for-money food, their dosa was excellent. The atmosphere is a little dark and difficult to enter from outside if you didn’t know what to expect but overall, a pleasant experience

Service and ambience was good if not the best. Ordered tandoori chicken took ages to come except it was sauted in a ton of oil with bell peppers. Tasted more like Chinese cholli chicken. Staff apologised and said people usually liked it that way.

We came all the way from Germany to celebrate my nephew’s birthday and had booked a hall for the event – but sadly, the entire experience was a huge disappointment. The service was extremely poor, and hygiene clearly wasn’t a priority. There was no coordination among the staff – everyone gave us different information, and no one seemed to be in charge. The organization was a complete disaster, and instead of enjoying a special day, we were left dealing with stress and frustration. This is not what you expect when you book a hall for such an important family event. Save yourself the stress – celebrate somewhere else.
