Chennai Dosa Croydon

Oor Manatha vangatheenga pls! When i was dicy whther to move to south croydon 3 years ago, i decided to go for it after looking at this restaurant name, ‘chennai dosa’ because i am from chennai and somewhere i felt that belonging .I been to this restaurant there years ago ie the day when i moved to south Croydon, i had veg meals. One of the worst meals had in the UK. Sambar and poriyal were worst. And then never been there after disappointment. After 2.5 years , i took my wife to have food on a rainy day. Again, food was worst. Disappointed again. And today, somehow i convinced my wife to have desi food and said let’s try again . Again, disappointed totally. I felt like having chennai veg meals, when i ordered ,they said do not have meals, it’s over. They prepared 15 meals in total and some bought it with a bulk order. I cant even imagine, on a weekend , around 2pm , they just prepared for 15 ppl. Dats how they are prepared. One guy was handling orders and another one guy in the kitchen, they were handling business with two ppl. everyone was waiting for the food. Finally, We decided to order mutton and chicken biriyani, so that we don’t need to wait, but after ages, they brought only chicken biriyani. We havnt been served our ful items. By the time we finished our chicken biroyani, when i asked about the remaining items, he said gonna check in kitchen. I got pizzed and cancelled the mutton biriyani. Without hesition and not feeling bad, he said k. He dint even bother to apologize. Such rude behaviour. I an not worried about the desi taste, atleast the quality of food and service has to be good. It hasnt changed in three years and never gonna be. Thanks for spoiling our valentines day lunch. Beware, sarvana bhavan is coming next to you. You better either change your quality and service and train your ppl, or change the name of your restaurant and remove chennai’ from the name.

Visited on a Friday evening 🌆—the place was quite busy, but Akash was a one-man army 💪 managing the whole floor and keeping everyone updated on their orders 📝. Hats off to the chef 👨‍🍳—the mutton chukka was absolutely brilliant 🤤, and all the dosas were spot on ✅. Great spot for a quick bite 🍽️ and authentic South Indian flavours

Good ol' Chennai Dosa. Its a good chain. Food is good, but the service is tailored for the delivery drivers (as all other places of similar designation), so the visiting customers suffer a bit. Which is not a big issue but still can get a wee bit frustrating. Overall not a bad place. If service balanced between deliveries and customers visiting would be pretty decent place. Still good place to visit.

The food and service here is always amazing. The food is so fresh, authentic and reasonably priced. We always get the lamb samosa, dosa, chilli paneer, methi lamb and poori/garlic naan. Our waiter is there is always so attentive and helpful.

Just the best Dosas around. Delightful staff, ambiance is a wee bit stark, but you go there to eat great food!

On a day we were craving Pani Puri we found this cheeky gem in South Croydon. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the amazing Akass, who gave us the most incredible service. We are vegan and he made sure everything we asked about on the menu was described perfectly, also the chefs in the kitchen bent over backwards to make our dishes cruelty free without any hesitation. Dishes ordered : Pani Puri - delicious but could have had more filling. 🍃 Mushroom Manchurian - Absolute taste sensation 🍄 Chilli and coriander Dosa - South Indian delight 🔥 Tarka Dal - Delicate and so moreish 🥘 Poppadom Masala - tasty and firey twist on a classic 🌶️ Bill 💵 - £45 Bonus points - +10 for Service The only small downside was the Manchurian portion, I would have hoped for more considering the price. Non the less absolutely quality munch! 👌🏻

This used to be a nice place with good food, good service. It’s now fallen off a cliff. Their weekend brunches are like being in a warzone, with food items going out of stock regularly. Outside of that, they have only 1 wait staff most times and he tries bravely to manage but the waiting times are inordinately high - eg., min. 30 mins just for a plate of idlis. The kitchen is similarly understaffed and the food isn’t as hygienic as it used to be. The owner doesn’t give two hoots about customers. It’s such a shame. We were regulars. We’ve now sworn to never go back.

Authentic south Indian taste. Loved the menu and the taste. Staff is extremely polite. They also home deliver which is such a great thing, especially in winters. Highly recommended for all the south Indian foodies out there.
