This place is almost perfect. The service was incredible everyone was friendly and very attentive. The Pu Pu Platter was delicious the beef teriyaki melted in your mouth. The barbecue spareribs had some fat but delicious. Spring rolls were good. Shrimp toast actually my first experience and I'm a fan now. Also the Crab Rangoon taste like Crab and yummy. House Lo Mein was the best I've had ever had. This all said from someone who's had Chinese in many restaurants. This is my second favorite behind Wing Teh in Fort Erie Canada BUT not by much. The prices were incredibly reasonable and plenty of parking. I strongly recommend Chen's Chinese restaurant.

This is THE spot in the Richmond area. We typically go the take-out route and it’s great, but do yourself a favor and dine in for a completely different culinary experience. Everything on the menu is fantastic and the service can’t be beat. Love this place.

This is a gem of a restaurant. Upon walking through the door we were greeted by a very friendly hostess that made us feel welcome. The hostess seated is immediately and took our drink orders. A few moments later, the manager of the place walked over just to say "hi" and all us how we were doing. Not long after that the waiter brought us some fried wonton chips and some sauces and took our drink orders. A few minutes later the waiter brought our drinks and took our food orders. A few moments after our food arrived the manager walked over and asked us how our dinner was and if we needed anything else. Everything was fresh and tasty. I had the triple delight, and my wife had shrimp fried rice. We both agreed that the portions were more than generous for the price which was more than reasonable. The restaurant was very clean with a nice, comfortable atmosphere. We will definitely come back and will recommend this place to our friends and family.

My family and I recently moved to Virginia from Massachusetts and we have been searching for our go-to Chinese restaurant. I think we finally found it at Chen's! We ordered the sesame chicken, pork fried rice, crab rangoons, and fried pork dumplings. It was so tasty! Everyone (guests and staff) seemed very happy to be there. And when I arrived to pick up my order, the proprietor/manager asked if my 5-yo could have a lollipop. Very charming and family friendly! We will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely wonderful experience at **Chen's Chinese** in Glen Allen, VA! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was immediately inviting. The ambiance was so soothing and calm — perfect for a relaxing dinner with the family. It's the kind of place where you can unwind and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed or crowded. The **food** was nothing short of delightful. Every dish was bursting with flavor and clearly made with fresh ingredients. We had thesteamed chicken dumplings for the starter and shrimp, chicken, pork, Singapore noodles which I added sea scallops to my order and they were large in size as our main course. The portions were generous, too — we left full but satisfied! We Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. It really added to the overall positive experience. We will definitely be coming back to **Chen's Chinese**. It’s become a new family favorite, and we can’t wait to try more of the menu next time. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for fantastic Chinese food in a peaceful setting!

Chen’s Chinese Restaurant is amazing start to finish. The food is delicious & they have true brown rice ( not fried rice). The service is top notch the whole team is dedicated to making sure all of your dining needs are met. I drink water at break neck speeds & never run out…that’s how fast their table service is. The best part they flow so smoothly they check in without disturbing your table’s vibe.

I am AMAZED at how good the food is. So much I’m writing review before finishing my meal. I called in takeout and a man named Benny answered. I didn’t know what to get so he talked me through options, ultimately recommending Szechuan Beef (I substituted normal veggies for onion). He said to trust him, so I did, and he was right because this is the best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten in all my travels throughout America. I trusted him, so you can now trust me.

I ordered takeout and appreciated that my food was ready right on time, as promised. I took the safe route with the shrimp fried rice. The shrimp were flavorful, a good size, and cooked to perfection, but I wasn't a huge fan of the rice itself. My girlfriend ordered a steak dish, which appeared to be steak and peppers or possibly Hunan steak. I tried it, and it was simply delightful! It was tender, flavorful, and plentiful. Did I mention how much steak she had? And how tender the meat was? My God, that alone was worth the 30-minute drive from my side of town. Overall, I'd recommend this restaurant and would definitely order from them again.

My husband and I tried Chen's for the first time and were not disappointed. We started with egg drop soup. I haven't had an egg drop soup this flavorful in so long! I was delicious and the crunch from the complementary wonton strips really set things off. Next, I ordered the shrimp in hot garlic sauce with fried rice. My husband ordered the sesame chicken with fried rice. Both were absolutely delicious. My only critique is that I wish the sauce for the garlic shrimp was spicier, but other than that, no complaints! The staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back to try some other items on the menu!

Great food! We are not local but will happily return when back in the area! The owner made our visit inviting and fun from the moment we walked. A wonderful experience!

This is my go to every time I come to Richmond. The manager is always so welcoming and the food is impeccable and consistent!! I will drive from Chesapeake and this is best!!

Tried them recently for the 1st time. Pleasantly surprised. Was told they were good and it's comfirmed. Have moved them into my top 3 in RVA for Chinese food. Gives Peking a run for its money. Very tasty and seasoned well. Both my entree and the fried rice. Wife's shrimp, hunan style was perfect. Great to find another fantastic Chinese place.

Visiting Richmond & had heard fantastic reviews. Ordered an egg roll which was ok; ordered beef & broccoli which was ok. The beef was tough with a different flavor. Large portions but I didn't like it enough for leftovers. My friend ordered the chicken and broccoli and had the same thought. We had it delivered and it was still very hot

As someone who lives in the neighborhood, we are lucky to have Chens. Almost all Food lion shopping centers throughout VA and NC seem to have a Chinese restaurant. This is by far the best one I have ever seen! Most of them are low quality takeout Chinese spots, but Chens is very authentic and the food is awesome. It's well priced and high quality. Takeout is quick and effortless. Eating in is also a great experience. Keep up the good work Chens.

I've lived in the Heart of the Mid West for years but Richmond VA is my hometown. And I longed for the Great Chinese American food I ate at long ago at Joy Garden that's been closed for years. To my Joy (pun intended) I discovered Chen's Chinese Restaurant. The food was great especially the Shrimp egg foo yung my favorite that was cooked to perfection.

Chen's is one of those great holdouts of traditional Chinese food that's still great. Yes, there's a robust takeout business, but this place is still a real sit down restaurant with great food and service. No store bought wonton crispy noodles here, only homemade. I got steal and my wife got chicken along with soup and egg rolls. All fresh and delicious. Love it and will be going back again and again.

The food and atmosphere were both top notch. I am very picky with my Chinese food and this restaurant lived up to all the hype. Benny the owner came over and introduced himself to me. It's a family run business and they were amazing. I had the egg drop soup as well as the crispy sesame beef both which were outstanding. If you are looking for a neighborhood Chinese restaurant this is for you.

Five stars for the warm and friendly family atmosphere, but the food failed to hit the mark and is more four stars. Ordered the staple General Tso's which I found to be too overfried and crispy, where instead you want to taste more tender chicken. The lunch specials are a great deal though, where you get soup and an egg roll for a reasonable price. The steamed dumplings were large but mostly dough vice filling. I liked the complimentary fried wontons and sauces they bring out, nice touch. Again, good value for the money, although I thought $3.50 for a diet coke was a tad high. Service was very good and attentive. I would go back for the lunch special and maybe try something else next time.

Have been eating here for maybe 25 years. It is delicious with a friendly staff and reasonably priced menu. What matters to me the most is that in all these years the food is consistently delicious. So many restaurants have good and bad days, but you always know what to expect when you come here. Their egg rolls are the best around hands down. I could make a meal of just those!

This was our first visit to Chen's and we CANNOT believe that this gem is just minutes away from where we live! Upon arrival, we were sat immediately and greeted by who we believe is either the manager or owner of the place. It definitely felt like a "homey" establishment which we love! We started off with the pork dumplings and chicken egg rolls which were phenomenal. We inquired about the spicy & tangy dumplings but were unsure. While we were waiting for our food to our arrive, the owner let us try the spicy & tangy dumplings and they were to die for. Seriously, I will be dreaming about them tonight. We ordered the crispy general tso beef as our entree to split and it was amazing too! We were so full but couldn't stop stuffing our faces because of how great all of the food was. I cannot recommend this place enough. Do yourself a favor, go to Chen's NOW!

Chen's is a bit of a drive from me and I do not care because it's the best chinese food I've had in Richmond. Not only is the food delicious, but the service is wonderful. My first visit, I had 2 people stop at my table to rave about how great it was and that I was going to love it. They were right! It was very quiet and chill in there. I guess people were too busy stuffing their faces to be talking lol. We started out with the egg rolls & pork dumplings and devoured them. So tasty! For our entrees we had shrimp fried rice and egg foo young. Both were amazingly delicious! I'm super grateful to the person who slid in my DM's on instagram saying I needed to go here. I was not disappointed and hopefully whoever reads this enjoys Chen's as much as I did.

This is my favorite Chinese food place in Mechanicsville, very good food, I recommend the crab Rangoon!

We get takeout whenever in town to visit our kids and grandkids. Good portions and full of fresh and flavorful ingredients.

Service is excellent. Friendly and smiling people. Even when we were finished they packed up the food for us. Which is a great help. The scallops were cooked perfectly. And the dish spouse got was very tasty. He had the General Tao's chicken. The hot and sour soup was excellent. We do recommend this restaurant.

Overall the food was good, service was very attentive. Wonton soup was good, egg rolls were good as well. Main dish was Shrimp and broccoli in garlic sauce, the spice level was perfect. Being from NY I know very good Chinese food and this place held up to my expectations.

Would give this place 7 starts if I could. Excellent customer service. Got the beef teriyaki and the chicken fried rice and both were exceptional. Got both items within what seemed like seconds and was fresh and hot. Will keep going to this place. Manager or owner Benny was extremely friendly and made sure you were taken care of.

We live 2 hours from Chens now, but you better believe if we are in the area we will be having lunch or dinner here. This is absolutely the best Chinese food. The staff are extremely attentive and I'm guessing he's the owner, he's the nicest. He is an example as to how an owner should be. He always comes over and talks to us and makes you feel like family. Best egg drop soup ever! We haven't ever had anything here that was delicious!

Been going to Chens for 20 years and it continues to deliver consistently good food and service. The spoon in the sauces that accompany the fried wontons at the table was crusted over so I'm guessing it's not cleaned and replaced regularly so I couldn't use it.

Ordered delivery, it took about an hour and a half at 3pm - annoying, but was hoping it was worth the wait. The lo mein was inedible - the noodles are so so mushy and the flavor is...not great. Unfortunately that is going into the trash, I can't make myself eat it. Hot and sour soup was not like anything I've had before, but was good. General Tso's was surprisingly dry - there is a sauce, but the chicken was super dry and there isn't enough sauce to even get much flavor; it kind of just tastes like chicken. Really disappointing unfortunately!

I've been to Chen's many times for lunch. Those in-house experiences are usually good, friendly, and quick. I haven't had good experiences with takeout or delivery, unfortunately. I see Chen's does a lot of takeout business, so I asked satisfied take-out customers how they're ordering. All the happy takeout customers appear to call their orders in directly. I've had bad experiences ordering at Chen's from grub hub, door dash, and yelp, so I won't be doing that ever again.

This is probably the best Chinese I've had for lunch. I got the hunan beef lunch special and food was absolutely phenomenal. The beef texture was different then other Chinese restaurants. The egg drop soup was very flavorful. The fried rice was good, but should be noted didn't have any veggies in it. It was just fried rice and some eggs. The meal was $12 which is fantastic for a lunch deal. This is a place I will definitely come back to for Chinese. 8.5/10

Service and food is the best in RIC in my opinion. Dine in vs takeout and enjoy a conversation with the owners.

So glad we found this place just wish it did not take so long. Richmond metro area struggles with good Chinese food and hands down this is the best Chinese we have come across. Ambiance is very nice and warm/welcoming so definitely can eat inside vs just take-out (but they do have take-out and had many orders). Service was wonderful and everyone very friendly! Food was very good. We started with the tangy Dumplings - sauce was so good. Dumplings were the small petite size ones (not the thick larger ones). Shrimp and Garlic was fantastic! Great flavor and lots of shrimp. General Tsos Chicken was awesome! Definitely recommend and we will definitely be making this our Go-To Place!

Man I've missed this place .. best Chinese! We moved to chesterfield but I grew up going here! Lucky westenders. Please come to Southside! Everything is amazing but we got the general So and the mushu pork. The egg drop soup and two spring rolls. Man if I could have ordered 12 of those things I would!! Friendliest staff. If we go to the west end I beg my husband to go! Best part is you always come home with another meal!

Love this place and the people. They are kind and the owner always makes us laugh! I will say that eating in is always better than taking out, but that is true with most places. Things we have ordered and like: Chicken egg roll, four treasures (my dad loves this), beef and broccoli (can be a bit salty sometimes), general tso chicken, dumplings are our favorite Things that have been hit or miss with us: moo shu pork, hunan beef, chicken egg roll (sometimes not crispy which again could be because it's often take out)

Chen's was very accommodating of our last minute reservation to host a party of 12 during the holidays! The service was great. The host really made us feel welcome and was super attentive. The food was great and left everyone feeling super full as the portions are quite large. We would definitely come to Chen's again in small or large groups!

My favorite Chinese in the Richmond area. I will drive 15-20 minutes for it as I haven't been able to find anything better. Always such wonderful and kind service! Great takeout portions. And a reasonably priced lunch deal. I love their lo mien and hot and sour soup.

Ordered Chen's on a Friday night after the baby fell asleep and my husband went out for guys night. Just looked to unwind and RELAX! This food was so good. I ordered the Chow Mei Fun and it was EXCELLENT. The shrimp, chicken, and beef were cooked to perfection and I loved the curry. My only wish was that it was just a little more saucier but it was excellent. Not to mention the container was PACKED. Enough for me to eat that night and then have lunch the day after. Will defintely be ordering from Chen's again!

Coworkers told me Chens had the best Chinese food in town so I decided to see if they were right. They were right! The egg drop soup was the best I've ever had (and I'm an egg drop soup connoisseur), then the crab Rangoon was phenomenal. Finally the General Tsos chicken was out of this world. So fresh and tender. Unlike the chewy spheres of meat from low quality Chinese restaurants. I'll never be able to enjoy low quality Chinese food ever again after eating at Chens. We will be back often!

Chess is the go to Chinese in Short Pump. Always solid meals with fresh veggies and meat. Have been going for over 15 years and never had a bad meal.

First time to try this restaurant. Has a wonderful reputation so we looked forward to visiting. Had seafood treasure, schewahn beef, hot and sour soup, egg roll, and crunchy wontons, and wonton soup. All of it was awesome. The beef was a little too hot but still delicious. Great service too. Can't wait to go back.

What a disappointment. Granted, I don't love American-ized Chinese food, but the reviews were so positive that I dove in and ordered $120 worth of food to try. On the menu: hot and sour soup, egg drop, chicken egg rolls, vegetable spring rolls, spare ribs, beef and broccoli, hunan chicken, pork and green beans and chicken chow fun. Nothing was a standout; in fact, it all tasted the same. The best thing was the egg drop soup, which is sad. Spare ribs tasted like old refrigerator and were super tough, the hot and sour soup was weirdly sweet, the hunan chicken wasn't spicy at all, etc., etc. I wouldn't eat food from Chen's again.
