The beef teriyaki was almost raw. The chicken wings did not taste good. I was very puzzled about the rice. There was hardly any pork in it, and there was no onions nor bean sprouts, no egg; it was very bland. It used to be made with fresh scallions, bean sprouts, eggs, and onions. Even the crab Rangoon was thick and chunky, and the filling did not taste like crab, it was white with greenish color filling it tasted bitter no red at all , usually it had a sweet taste. Is this restaurant under different ownership? I have never had a bad meal here in many years, but the quality of our food tonight was very disappointing.

Google
food was fast to receive and delicious! they politely sat us while we waited for food. The server completely saved us from an uncomfortable encounter with a customer. would give 10 stars if I could!!!!! thank you so much!!!!!<3

Google
We absolutely love this place. Amazing food, drinks and sushi. The waitstaff is very welcoming and the bartender Brian will lift your spirits up. Parking is tight, but if you can find a spot, you're in for a real treat!

Google
Amazing service! Our waiter was so amazing! Very kind! I have a pork & shellfish allergy. They worked very hard so I could enjoy my meal just like everyone else. Very accommodating! Everything we ordered was so tasty! Although the crispy sesame chicken was a big hit at our table.

Google
Best chinos and sushi around. We get the angry dragon roll, house fried rice, chicken and broccoli, and scorpion for 2!! 10/10

Google
Every time we go here the food is fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and inviting. My top 3 favorites are Dumplings, General's chicken, and the hot and sour soup.

Danny

Google
My new love for duck sauce started here, like wow, me and my parnter entered and immediately got seated, rhe waitress was very nice and explained and cleared up the menu items. The atmosphere was nice, and it was very wonderful seeing the inside, the food was DELICIOUS, and served very well, would go and drive another 1.5 hours just to go dine again!

Google
Chen’s Garden is hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant in New Hampshire at the moment. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and consistently well-prepared. Whether dining in or ordering takeout, the quality never disappoints. The portions are generous, the flavors are spot on, and everything is made just right. The menu has a great variety, and I’ve never had a bad dish here. Service is always friendly, and the food comes out quickly, making it a reliable spot whenever I’m craving good Chinese food. If you’re looking for a go-to Chinese restaurant in NH, this is the place. Highly recommend and will definitely keep coming back.

Yelp
Best rolls in Manchester. Only issue is parking can be tough during peak hours. Great place every time we go Also, great scorpion bowls. One more thing, they make the best crab Rangoon in town too.

Michael S.

Yelp
Will not order from this place again. One of the worst Chinese food experiences I ever have had. They deep fry everything without any effort to make the food eatable.

Debbie G.

Yelp
My order included: SESAME CHICKEN: chicken cuts were thin and tender; not a sesame in sight; sauce tasted like barbecue. VEGETABLE LO MEIN: angel hair pasta instead of lo mein; the only vegetables included broccoli and chopped cabbage; bland taste. HOT AND SOUR SOUP: it was hot, I will give it that, the taste was burnt, like the end of the pot, and I really couldn't distinguish many vegetables; no tofu. PEKING RAVIOLI/fried dumplings: honestly haven't tried them yet, not holding out much hope.

Buffalo Chicken S.

Yelp
$15 specialty plate, came with 1 beef teriyaki stick and 3 chicken fingers. Literally any other Chinese food place will give you a better value.

Yelp
I would not recommend. The sweet sour soup was good. For $60, you don't get much. And the quality of food is really not that terrific. and if you order online, don't think you're gonna walk in there and pick up your food. They want to see your cell phone with your online order confirmation to release the food to you. Molly 56.66 was not sufficient. I had to go back out to my car to retrieve the cell phone the order was placed on. It's 5° outside. I'm just agitated with the place all around.

Yelp
Last time we ate at the restaurant there was a long wait and find their take out more convenient. The food is good but a little pricey. There are several other Chinese restaurants in town that are cheaper with food just as good if not better.

Yelp
Bartender was great they were very busy. Chicken teriyaki was absolutely the worst I've ever had in my life. Tasted like boiled flavorless chicken with a hint of mustard. The worst I've ever had and I've tried many places. Definitely not teriyaki in any capacity. Would come here for drinks not food. Expensive food too even for Chinese.

Anthony B.

Yelp
Still feeling the side effects from what we ate. Boneless steak on a stick was 5 of 5 but that's it. House fried rice 1 of 5 tasted like dust from a vacuum bag, boneless pork same thing 1 of 5 awful. Beef with bean sauce one bite and to the trash bin inedible 0 of 5. Crab Rangoon 1 of 5 if a Chinese place can't get this right shutter the doors. After what we had I'll be looking for the shutters next time by. Won't ever go back and certainly wouldn't recommend it. I would recommend another choice Stay away.

Kurt H.

Yelp
The online ordering process is poor. Placing an order is easy. Getting a call or text when your order is ready does not work. I had to call them to find out that my order was done. After all this it was cold and unappetizing when we got home and my wife had to microwave it. I understand the dine-in experience is pretty good, but don't bother with ordering online.

Celeste D.

Yelp
I prefer my chicken cooked. I prefer my drink prior to my dinner and I do not like to be ignored by my waitress while she is having laughs with the male clients.

Yelp
I just ordered here for New Years Takeout and the food was one of the worst experiences I ever have had.I know by the looks of the place they were extremely busy but in my mind this is not an excuse for garbage food. The house fried rice tasted like it was made three days ago.It was a carton of brown rice with chicken and beef shoved over the top and thrown in the container.I ordered three pu pu platters for two,big mistake.Everything was cold and very poor quality. The Crab Rangoon was the worst I have ever tried to eat. We ended up tossing almost all of this food .I am not usually a complainer but feel this warrants this kind of review.I should have known better than order takeout on a holiday but did not expect it to be this bad, buyer beware.

Len S.

Yelp
Very good luncheon menu. Hot and Sour Soup was very tasty and the luncheon specials were as well. Generous portion and very reasonably priced.
google avatar

Alyssa M.

Yelp
The menu explicitly states to inform your server of a food allergy, the waitstaff and chefs should be well aware of the most common allergens in their dishes. I told the waitress that I have a gluten allergy. We review what I was interested in ordering and she assured me there was no gluten. When my order arrived I didn't see anything on my plate that lead me to believe there was anything containing gluten. However, as I ate the sushi, I noted a crutch and upon inspection I noticed tempura flakes. I asked the waitress and she confirmed with the chef that there was in fact tempura flakes. She told me all spicy crab roll contain tempura, as if I was supposed to know that. I have now have had a reaction for the last several days. Very frustrating. I reach out to inform the owner via email and did not get a reply.

Yelp
Tried Chen's Garden takeout for the first time today because our usual Chinese joint is closed on Mondays. We were not impressed. The chicken fingers were over fried. The lo mein lacked flavor and was made with thin thin noddles. Not my favorite. The general tsos I couldn't eat. It tasted vinegary and was super watery. The duck sauce was too watery too. I don't get why anyone would offer that duck sauce. Gross. Fried rice was mediocre at best. Might be the worst Chinese we've had. Disappointed. Will not eat here again.
google avatar

Jenn M.

Yelp
Simply delicious! We ate here as a party of 4 on a week night. The food was great, service was wonderful and the restaurant was very clean. Some staple items are made a bit different than what we were used to such as rice noodles for the lo mein, but we enjoyed the change! At the end of the meal we collectively agreed that we had found our new favorite spot for Chinese/Japanese take out!

Barry M.

Yelp
Thought we would give it another chance for sushi. Rolls are large but honestly all of it tasted the same....placed was packed with all the regulars which they seem to cater too. Sapporo on draft was the only highlight of the visit.
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
I chose Chens garden because it looked like an "upscale" chinese/japanese restaurant. Nice ambiance. Food was absolutely horrible. Mind you, I may have ordered the wrong things off the menu; but I left feeling sick to my stomach. My party of three ordered shrimp tempura app, chicken wings, Peking dumplings and chicken fried rice. I understand we ordered fried food, but everything tasted just like oil from the fryer. The wings had no flavor and could only eat one. Dumplings were heavy on the dough and only good with sauce. The shrimp tempura app only had 2 shrimp! The rest were veggies?!?! When we asked our server what that was all about, he could not care less we were dissapointed even though we had disgust written all over our face. The two shrimp we did have, were MUSHY?!? Never in my life have I had mushy shrimp. Horrible experience, never again.
google avatar

Kayla M.

Yelp
Chens is the best Chinese I have had in awhile! They have great attentive staff that get to know you. I have quickly become a regular!
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
Kind of expensive for the portions you get. Beer was really pricey. Food was just OK.
google avatar

Drew H.

Yelp
Always great food, super nice staff and delivered as promised! Lot of Chinese food around town, but there's is the go to if you don't want Re heated frozen food!

Yelp
Chen's Garden thinks they are PF Chang's or something charging the prices they charge. $15 for orange chicken? Whew. The food here is mad expensive for Americanized Chinese food. To be fair, the restaurant is very spacious, well kept, and clean for a Chinese restaurant. The best Chinese food is from those hole-in-a-wall mom & pop joints though. I ordered the "Seafood in the Bird Nest" which traditionally is a bunch of seafood and mixed vegetables in a light sauce in a "bird nest" made of crispy, crunchy, fried noodles. Chen's Garden's version of the "Seafood in the Bird Nest" was the ultimate cheap version. The seafood was obviously not fresh at all. I don't need all the seafood to be fresh but if frozen, it should be some good quality frozen seafood. Some of the seafood tasted like it came out of a can or something. It wasn't good. The actual "nest" was NOT made of noodles. It was like a big, fried wonton wrapper. For $18.95 - it was not worth. Actually for $18.95 the seafood should be fresh and the portion size should have been bigger. Rip off. My friend got the pad thai and said it was really bland. Another one of my friends ordered a lemonade and when he got a refill the waiter made it seem like the refill was included in the initial charge but he got charged again for another lemonade. The wait staff definitely needs to be more clear when it comes to beverages.

Yelp
Excellent food. Service is also top notch. The atmosphere is perfect. You can enjoy a lively experience at the bar/sushi bar or a more personal visit at one of their tables. These folks really know how to make everyone feel welcome. I highly recommend the sushi. Fresh and flavorful. I ordered hot and sour soup. Very good although I forgot to ask them for the vegetarian option. That was on me. The rice was exceptional. The appetizers were very good. All in all it was a great experience. We will be back.
google avatar

Sue H.

Yelp
Take out was rediculous. Vermicelli noodles for lomein. Shrimp breaded in bread crumb for friend shrimp . I would never go back there
google avatar

J.A. L.

Yelp
Mediocre food. General Gao's chicken was good. Lo mein was good not great. Fried rice was lacking flavor and missing ingredients, basically just rice they turned brown. Certainly not worth the price.
google avatar

Jean S.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered takeout Chinese Lunches today. The beef with mushrooms and shrimp in lobster sauce was fresh and delicious. The crab Rangoon appetizers were very good. The service was good for my takeout order

Joseph M.

Yelp
Extremely poor service, staff was rude and unhelpful. Food took way too long and wasn't even hot when it came out. Atmosphere of dining area was closer to a bus station than a restaurant.
google avatar

Bobbie M.

Yelp
Doordashed this food because my Friend wanted beef and mushroom. I didn't order here before. The prices are hella expensive for fast food Chinese. And let's say I rather and should have ordered from Bamboo Garden like I knew I should have. They give it tiny white rice to go containers and the meals were the size of one from any Chinese food place. I got the orange chicken-It was soggy, chewy and not at all tasting like orange chicken. Her beef and mushroom she said-was not worth 20 bucks on its own. The crab Rangoon? Don't bother. Never ordering again. It wasn't worth 62 bucks for crap.

Daisy B.

Yelp
They always seem to get things wrong whenever I order, and when I ask about it being incorrect when I pick up they tell me that no, it's correct. Next time I'm better off opening the containers and saying it's not what I ordered. Further from that was was correct was not great either. Better off ordering elsewhere

Bene R.

Yelp
If you are going to own and run a restaurant then try and pretend to have a little interest in the quality. Fast food from the mall would have been higher quality. We have been eating here for 8 years and we literally just threw away every single dish except the sushi which was only alright. The wonton soup was a bowl of pure salt. Inedible- tossed. The shrimp friend rice had nasty dirty shrimp and who wants to eat that? Would they serve that to their family? Another dish- in the trash. Such a sad day when the restaurant cares so little about their customers.

Ellen M.

Yelp
Worst Chinese food I have ordered in Manchester. The chicken wings was very small and dry and the egg roll tasted like cardboard. I ordered lomein with my meal instead I got fried rice. The rice was starchy like it was sitting around for some time. I had no idea what kind of meat was in it which also was dry. The only thing that was edible was the crab ragoons but it was all cream cheese. Will never order from grubhub again from this restaurant. This meal was not worth the price I paid for it.
google avatar

Dennis L.

Yelp
I gave this restaurant five stars last month but today unfortunately, I couldn't rate it that high. I ordered a combo meal for $12.95 and it didn't even come with fried rice! The rice was $9.95 more and that's just plain rice! Everything was cold and the rice had a kind of fishy taste. It's going to be a while before I come back.

James W.

Yelp
We have frequented this restaurant for years, and all it takes is 1 order of Lo mein to put a complete stop of patronizing. When you call and let them know that the pork in their dish was bad/spoiled/rotten, and you get "I'm Sorry"..... Nothing to offer for a spoiled meal, and "I'll speak with the cook"...... #ENOUGHSAID......#NEVERTORETURN.... Just sad it happened, but even more on how they reacted to their poor response to us... It might've been a one time thing, all the more to #DOTHERIGHTTHING!!!!!!!

Michael B.

Yelp
Look at the size of this pupu platter. Are you out of your fucking mind? 30$ for this? We are splitting bites like 18th century peasants. You should be shut down immediately you clowns.

Ralph C.

Yelp
Wow was my meal bad. Started with won ton soup, it was a pleasant broth, that came with 4 pasty, inedible dumplings. If u somehow can get past the outside, you are greeted with a tasteless meat concoction. One dumpling, few spoons of soup and tossed away. Next chicken chow foon. A plate of same doughy noodles, that had melded into one giant mealie glob of something. There was a sauce that was non discernible by taste and couldn't find a piece of chicken anywhere. So terrible that it didn't make the three bite test before being tossed. Let the buyer beware

Wayne G.

Yelp
We did two take out dinners and they were at best fair. Our friends wanted to go their for dinner and it was even worse. The waitress was rude, incompetent and rarely available. The food took a long time to go out, all the hot dishes was cold and we were almost ready to leave when the sushi came out. I will never return to this restaurant.
google avatar

Melissa J.

Yelp
This place needs to be shut down and doesn't even deserve one star!!Husband found this in his food and daughters throat was scratched up from eating but she had written it off as a hard piece of food! Here are the facts:1. Husband's to go container was on bottom and under cardboard piece. 2. Rice is in the back of the container and would be impossible to get in the rice from the bag. I have watched this place go downhill and switch so many ownerships in what little time they've been open not to mention the many health code violations they have had over and over! Their best solution, come get a new rice? Really??? Going to contact the Manchester Health Department and possibly an attorney!!! Last time we ever go there ever and stay away from here if you don't like staples in your food!!

Karyn S.

Yelp
Ridiculously Expensive, can't understand how they can justify the prices for the quality of food!

Cindy K.

Yelp
Awful!! We went there for lunch and it was terrible!! I ordered Beef and broccoli the beef was so touch and didn't taste like beef...mystery meat!? Also, dirty wine glasses, and overall not a good experience. What a difference. I was there a year ago and raved about the food...not anymore! We will never go back
google avatar

Gerry L.

Yelp
Awesome Chinese food. Very clean. Very good service. I got your standard Chinese dinner - pork fried rice, beef teriyaki, chicken fingers and spare ribs. Hot & sour soup. Best I've had, and I've eaten at many Chinese food places. Everything tasted fresh made and not reheated.

Yopap Y.

Yelp
Ok sushi, their food went down hard. Chinese fast food. Taste like everything was cooked ahead and then mixed.

Amyn D.

Yelp
I am hoping the bad quality of food is a result of resources issues during COVID. The food I got today was below anything I would expect. The Pad Thai noodles were soggy and so were the vegetables in it, with a very Smokey flavor. And the Crispy Sesame chicken was over fried.

ilene m.

Yelp
Disgusting. I have stopped before for sushi, which always been good, but last night I called in my order over 1 hr before pickup--vegetable fried rice. Not only wasn't it ready, I got an argument about not knowing my number, which really is immaterial to my food not being ready. When I got home my vegetable fried rice tasted like chicken, and no corn, water chestnut, bean sprouts, just peas, a few onions and carrots. I was really looking forward to the fried rice, so I ordered from another long-standing Chinese in the area, and made perfect. I should have gone there first!

Yelp
I was in the mood for some fried rice so I read up on local options and I decided on Chen's because it has pretty good reviews and it is centrally location in Manchester. The restaurant was easy to find even though I am completely unfamiliar with the area. I was there at dinner time on Saturday so it was pretty crowded but I did notice a few available tables. The parking lot is very small and it was completely full. I walked in and ordered take-out at the reception desk. The staff was very friendly and they were eager to assist with any questions. I ordered fried rice with pork and substituted the white rice with brown rice. Ten minutes later my order was ready and bagged up. The fried rice was OK. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I wouldn't order it again. The portion size was a bit smaller than I expected. The rice itself was well-cooked but the overall dish was pretty boring. There were a few sprouts and diced onions with a disappointing amount of small bits of pork. There wasn't much flavor to it so I added a few packets of soy sauce to bring it to life. I did see some dishes being served while I waited. The noodle dishes looked great, especially the rice noodle dishes, as well as the crispy spicy beef dish. I would probably try the crispy spicy beef stir fry if I visited Chen's again.

Yelp
Extremely fresh, wonderfully creative and abundantly delicious sushi. Blizzard rolls, spicy girl, kumo roll, mountain king roll, just to name a few. I've had quite a bit of their sushi. Continually surprises me with taste, value and presentation. Crab Rangoon is unique, fresh and very tasty. Take the last known memory you of a Scorpion bowl and throw it out the window. The scorpion bowls here are a definite palate pleaser, right amount of fruity and a whole lot of flavor, unlike ANY ive ever had! Garlic lo mein is top notch, lots of fresh, sautéed chunky garlic mixed with hot, steamy thin noodles never disappoints. I always try to get something different, because I've never had a bad meal or experience. The atmosphere is quiet and pleasing and relaxing. Staff are always welcoming and thankful for your patronage.

Bailee P.

Yelp
Some great food here! I get North Garden when I'm hungover but this is more of a quality place. The portions are large and the food is very good American/Chinese food. The place was clean and the service was good. We made a scene in the restaurant but they were very forgiving and loved having us in the restaurant. The service was fast and it wasn't too expensive. There is an extensive menu of all of the classic favorites.

Christian V.

Yelp
Great service and great food. Curry chicken and sesame chicken was cooked perfectly. Great portions and delicious sake.
google avatar

Jen B.

Yelp
Nice clean restaurant. Excellent food. The Peking duck was delicious. Yes I ordered a whole one for myself as I wanted lunch the next day. Hubby had General Gao chicken really liked it. Crispy chicken and the sauce was perfectly balanced. My son had the triple delight and seemed to be delighted as he also finished his. We'd love to go back and try sushi. The table next to us had a sushi roll that looked really good and super fresh.

Meagan S.

Yelp
I love Chen's. It's my go Chinese restaurant in Manchester. Great for big parties or small and takeout is always fast. Get the garlic lo mien, it is the best thing on the menu and I could eat them everyday happily.

Claire F.

Yelp
So disappointing. You can't call it pad tai just because you put chopped peanuts on top of tasteless soy sauce noodles. Lo Mein with teeny angel hair like noodles. Undercooked chicken finger breading. This was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Most of the $140 order went in the trash and this was a birthday celebration. Embarrassing And not cheap!
