The Best Indian Restaurants in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Asian supermarkets have always had simple food courts with homestyle eats. With locations in Decatur and Duluth, Atlanta-based Cherians has served the community with South Asian groceries for over four decades. The cafe at the Decatur location offers freshly made south Indian vegetarian snacks and lunch dishes like various dosas and steaming idlis, complete with chutneys. Look for daily ready-to-eat specials such as thoran or stir-fried vegetables. A small dining area is available for dine-in options." - Nandita Godbole

Google
Great options and a lovely place to buy groceries again! One of the best things about this store is that they offer small packs for almost everything — no need to buy in large quantities, which is super convenient. One area for improvement: It would be helpful if they added price labels for ready-to-eat and perishable food items. The absence of price tags made it difficult to make purchasing decisions.

Google
It was a pleasant surprise to visit this store for the first time. It's a huge grocery store covering a vast variety of items, including almost all food products required to run an Indian kitchen. The display and stacking are very systematic, and the entire store is very well maintained. It's definitely a good option to the other big Indian store nearby.

Raj Raj

Google
They also have an amazing snack corner where you can relish yourself to an amazing Indian cuisine.

Paridhi

Google
I found this place super affordable. Not sure if the veggies were good quality or not, but the variety of products I saw there was a lot. You could get all kinds of Indian food items, packaged ones as well. We got a small tulsi plant from there which was good quality!

Google
Wow, this place is great! I went to this place just looking for rose water, and i didn't want to go to the other place nearby again, which felt pretty unwelcoming, so i gave this place a shot. I didn't grab a cart because I only went for one thing, but they had so many amazing products, I had to grab a cart after all. I felt like a kid in a candy store. They not only had rose water, they had many varieties including the brand I was looking for. I bought 2 brands. Plus, their aisles are spacious and well organized, and their workers were friendly. Way better experience over that other store. There's no competition. This is my new favorite spot! I'll definitely be returning.

Google
You have all the products what you need. This whole place is neatly arranged and you get coconut water in juice counter (they close at 7 pm). Billing was quick and easy. Parking is amble and store is clean.

My shopping experience was fast and easy! Ask for Falguni! She provided the best customer service ever! I recommend this location for everyone to shop at. Thank you Falguni!

Google
Step into a vibrant Indian grocery haven where you'll discover a treasure trove of authentic flavors! From fresh phompret and surmai fish to a tantalizing selection of crispy chips and snacks, this place has it all. Craving a delicious dosa? They offer freshly made batter, and don't miss out on the refreshing sugar cane juice that will quench your thirst perfectly! The friendly staff is always on hand to guide you through the amazing variety of vegetables and other Indian essentials. This is your go-to spot for Indian groceries.

Yelp
My family has been coming here to grocery shop for like 20 years. You could probably find anything South Asian cuisine related here. In recent years, they have really upped their game when it comes to prepared foods. There's a restaurant; a hot food bar with a lot of fried Indian classics (I'm partial to their bonda- basically just a big ball of sweet fried dough, not the healthiest lol but very nostalgia-inducing); a bakery (can't go wrong with laddoo, gulab jamun, or jalebi); and fresh coconut water and sugarcane juice. This time, I got the sugarcane juice (so refreshing! so cheap! it was even better cold) and two types of gulab jamun that I've never had before. Indian desserts tend to be VERY sweet, so be forewarned. Ambiance & service are fine (it's a grocery store), although restrooms could be better maintained. Lots of free parking available. 7.5/10 would recommend!

Yelp
I first visited this store in 2020 when the pandemic hit, as it was the only place that wasn't too crazy. While I don't shop here for groceries, the produce always appears to be fresh & the aisles are neatly organized. I have only returned for their mango lassi and their hot food which is A1. Now, I'm black. When I go I'm usually the only black person there, which isn't an issue but no one really speaks English if you need assistance. There are some Hispanic employees, so if you know some Spanish you'll be ok. As I've stated, I enjoy their hot food & mango lassi, when I've ordered here over the years, the cashiers usually aren't friendly... I do expect the basic level of customer service where I spend my money. On this particular February day, their lack of service bothered me. I, the customer, greeted the cashier and she just waved at me. I paid for my items and she was speaking to the coworker while she was giving me my change and preparing my order. It was rude. When she gave me my items, I looked her right in her eyes and said thank you, have nice day, very pleasantly. It was ONLY then that she smiled and said have a nice day. I told her thank you, I just wanted you to be nice to me. She seemed surprised that I said this, I proceeded to tell her about her lack of service in the most lovingly way and again thanked her for my items. I don't know if I'll be returning there bc of this experience and my experiences over the years. I am not going to shop anywhere where I'm not treated with courtesy as a paying customer.

Yelp
Absolutely love this grocery store for anything Indian I need! They carry huge variety of produce, frozen goods, spices, snacks, flours, utensils, worshipping items, cosmetics, and Ayurvedic medicine. They're a busy south Asian grocery store with a small cafe that offers authentic South Indian delicacies. They also have fried Indian snacks like samosa, Honda, kachori etc. they have a small sugarcane juice and coconut water stand. They also sell tulsi, mint, curry leaf plants seasonally. It is my frequent stop for all my household pantry staples and novelty items. Don't forget to check their $1 produce bags and $.99 3 bunch cilantro. There is ample of parking spots outside the store. The restrooms are clean and there is a common information board with adds for rooms on rent, new businesses etc. they also have a collection of all Indian print magazine. I highly recommend them.

Yelp
Today I had gone and slipped on the floor as the floor was not clean ! They need to Be careful And clean often and slipped on decayed okra spoke to the clerk and made sure they keep not clean as I saw elders and even expecting ladies were there ! Not happy with the response also

Yelp
Incredible fresh dosa and samosas, also raas malai and gulab jamun are delicious. Most reasonably priced and tasty fast casual Indian street food in all of Atlanta/Decatur/ITP. Food comes out FAST. Quick takeout food is always a highlight of getting groceries from Cherians :)

Ela L.

Yelp
I always have a good experience here. I love to come when I'm in the area to grab the things that I can't find in my less diverse city south of Atlanta. It's bigger than the other Indian grocery stores I used to shop at, with a more varied selection. There are lots of healthy and organic options as well, which I really appreciate. I like the food court area to grab a snack after shopping here.

Teki H.

Yelp
The best Indian grocery store with all the ingredients to make from scratch or ready made items if you don't feel like taking all the time to make those favorites. It's my Go To when I am in the ATL area.

Yelp
I find Cherian's to be my pick for Indian groceries - less mayhem in the parking lot, not too busy, plenty big store, and good prices. Frankly, I prefer Cherian's when it comes to buying fresh vegetables too - really fresh and a good variety (vegetables)! As with many grocery stores, you will find certain products that are packaged especially for Cherian's so you may have to find comparables if you have been used to certain brands/labels. However, prices for those are usually very competitive and the quality is just as good. The store is organized well, and is clean. With all the space available (never found it to be super busy) it's easier to shop than at say Patel Brothers. Checkout is easy and the staff is usually very friendly. I do like their eatery, which is inside the store - again great prices and tasty Indian snacks. They even prepare fresh juices (sugarcane, coconut) I believe. I find myself always leaving the store with a few snacks from their eatery. A few cons: They don't have all the choices as compared to Patel Brothers. I think they stock based on demand and items that don't sell a lot are a rare find. The staff doesn't seem very knowledgeable (unless you find the experts right at checkout), so if you are looking for certain things it may take you a while to flag the right person down or just search yourself. Bottom Line: if you are in the area shopping for Indian groceries, give this place a try. You might get what you need with a lot less hassle.

Yelp
I accidentally stumbled upon this gem after leaving DeKalb County Utility Operations Office. Cherians is nestled behind other buildings so if your not looking for it you'll miss it. I think this will be my new spot for exotic spices and Indian cuisine for preparing at home. The staff is super friendly. The store is clean the aisle are clutter free. The produce is fresh and ridiculously cheap. I purchase 5 lemons for $1 and 8 limes for $0.98. I can't even get a half a lemon for $1 at Publix. The store also has a Jamin Juice section were they make fresh drink. While your there you should check out the restaurant which has both ready to eat meals and quick bite options. There's also a seating area where you can relax and enjoy your meal.

Yelp
I got the masala dosa with sambar and chutney. Delicious! For $5 it honestly can't be beat. The dosa was perfectly crispy yet still slightly chewy on the inside and the masala was so good! The chutney and sambar were great too. Will come again for their other dosas.

Yelp
Even after visiting all these years and after my first review of Cherians, I still absolutely love it! It's been that long?? I went back to get ingredients to make Chicken 65 and I tell you. I was in heaven with all the raw nuts I saw. There were also a lot of herbal oils. I never really cared to look that hard in the past but I see it now. That means I just have to come back for more. And I have. I've come back yet again before I updated this review. Box ingredients are on point. My Desi cooking has really gone up a notch and I have turned hubby into liking some Indian cuisine. Success! He is really particular and won't dine out at Desi restaurants with me but if I make it at home, he likes it and will eat it. The food court must have changed management cause the Punjabi samosas were delicious. I've had in the past and didn't like. I saw Aloo Bonda and was sooo happy. It's like one of my faves! I don't see it at a lot of places either. It is yummy. I'm not a fan of the chutneys but the food is so delicious that I don't need it. Oh yeah, I also got fresh coconut water! Yummy! When I finally drank it empty, there was still juice later when I let it sit. Man, the coconut was hard to open but I finally managed to do so and ate all the coconut flesh. Yummy. I'm coming back for you Cherians! 51/2019

Yelp
This place is one of my regular Indian grocery buying place. I always find what I am looking for from veggies, frozen items and some Indian household things and the most important are the snacks and sweets. Worldly market with an Indian & Pakistani focused & a full range of groceries plus mostly Indian cookware items. Very organized and a huge selection. Love to go their for Indian/Bengali/Pakistani groceries/spices. Also liked their small non-fancy cafe for Indian comfort food. The store is clean and everything is in apple-pie order. On entering, it looks very Western, but it is definitely mostly South Asian in inventory and patronage. Herbs/spices department extremely well-stocked. Any kind of dal you want is there. The in-house coconut drink was refreshing and also you can try their freshly made sugarcane juice for refreshment, and the prepared foods counter is very appealing. Good selection of Indian sweets too. The incenses inventory was beyond expectation. Lots of durable goods for sale, including cooking implements. Cherians International Groceries has been located in the heart of Atlanta for over thirty years now. They currently have two convenient locations in Decatur, Georgia and Cumming, Georgia. They provide with great quality products, quality service, and unbeatable prices compare to other grocery stores in the area. They carry fresh fruits and vegetables, some homemade snacks and sweets, tour luggage, cookware, and groceries from all around the world but mostly from India. If they do not carry what you are looking for, just let them know and they will try to order it for you. They are open seven days a week and open late for holidays time. If you do not live in the area and would like groceries shipped to you, just place your order online and they will mail it to you. They have ample free parking in front of the store and around the area. Always look for specials at the time of Indian festival times. I look forward to my next shopping trip.

Yelp
I love the dosa and vada here, I believe it's best in town. Price is reasonable and it placed inside the grocery store.

Yelp
Cherians surpasses Patel Brothers in cleanliness and quality. They claim they're an international grocer but they seem to mainly sell Indian goods and fresh groceries. Their produce is way better quality than PB's and I think it is cheaper as well. I like to purchase tomatoes here ($0.49/lb) and besan/chickpea flour (~$4 for a 3 or 4 lb bag). They also have good prices on nuts, especially when on sale ($12 for 3 lbs of almonds; $4 for 5 lbs of peanuts, etc.) Other than that, I haven't looked around the store too much but they seem to have a good selection of snacks, flours, frozen goods, and hygiene/beauty supplies. There is also an eatery within the store. It might be worth it to check it out. The cashiers are SLOW (sort of like at PB) and apparently don't know how to multitask because when they chat with one another or a customer, their hands stop moving and everything comes to a standstill. It is quite frustrating and it happens to me every time I'm here. There is also a cashier who is usually at the station closest to the entrance who is magnificently slow and chatty. So much so that she can't hear me when I say "credit" or "I have my own bag". Then she gets annoyed with me and will ask loudly "CREDIT OR DEBIT?" or "why didn't you tell me you brought your own bag?" OH BUT I DID. Anyways, between Cherians and PB, I would come to Cherians for groceries and flours, but PB for the SWAD Corn Chivda. That stuff always gets me!

Yelp
Employees are extremely rude. No courtesy. To speak to you like they given you a favor
google avatar

Giana T.

Yelp
Best and cheapest Dosa in probably all of Atlanta. Their little cafe on the side is so much better than the nearby restaurants like Chatpati, Gokul Sweets etc. For Indian groceries, I like Cherian's better than Patel Brothers. Much less crowded and less chaotic with the same competitive prices. Its a must visit for me whenever I am in town.

Yelp
Pro: This place is the spot to go if you have South Asian cuisine needs. There are a ton of fresh produce for cheap, a whole lot of spices/tea/incense/snacks, dairy products and flours. They also have a snack bar! Con: It is actually not an international market. I went in initially to look for hominy and they didn't have it. I didn't see any other non South Asian groceries.
google avatar

Priti J.

Yelp
If you are looking for Indian groceries cherians is the place! This store is so much better than Patel brothers. Service is good. Store is very organized unlike Patel brothers. They also offer fresh sugarcane juice and coconut juice. They literally make the sugarcane juice in front of you. I have never tried it but bet it's delicious. I would definitely recommend this store. Thank you for reading.

Teri S.

Yelp
This is the place to shop if you need anything for East Indian cuisine. They have fresh produce, an extensive frozen food section with precooked items that only require heating, and easy to make preparations to name just a few. It's really a Super Indian Supermarket! The prices aren't bad either, which is unreal for an import store.
google avatar

Addy C.

Yelp
If you love cooking Indian food, you need to check out Cherians International Grocery Store. Especially if you love naan. They sell packages of 4 very large pieces of FRESH naan (16" diameter??) for just $2.29!! No more Trader Joe's frozen naan for me! My Indian-American friend says she gets her naan here all the time. She also comes here for rice, Shan vegetable curry ("Shan" is a very popular brand among Indians), and mango pulp. They have aisles of produce, frozen foods, rice, beans, pre-packaged spices & sauces (cheaper than Buford Hwy Farmers Market!), and lots more. They also have "Tava & Grill" in their food court and their food is delicious! FYI - they are not directly on Dekalb Industrial like their address says. They're actually on a hill behind "US1 Discounts" store.
google avatar

Cherry L.

Yelp
To echo Addy's earlier review, Cherians has alllllll the spices you ever need for indian cooking. I wouldn't go there for produce as their selection is pretty limited. We picked up a ton of curry spices, simmer sauces, tea, and tea strainer. Unfortunately, i did not see Tava in their food court--now replaced by another shop selling indian snacks and some fried foods (samosas, curry puffs, etc). Will definitely be back! PS. Don't miss the turn, pretty much right after you get on dekalb industrial from lawrenceville hwy
google avatar

Serene L.

Yelp
Came here out of curiosity and wanted to try something new for dinner, I was floored by how many different varieties of spices, seasonings, curry sauces as well as ready to eat. Even simple items like pratha and samosas makes buying and making a decision on which to buy really difficult. It's a good difficult, not a bad one. I swear I will try a new sauce/spice/item every time i go there to shop.
google avatar

Lillian P.

Yelp
Amazing Indian grocery store. I went in and bought an amazing amount of produce for less then $50. I love the variety of foods and trying out new recipes. It is hidden so look for signs directing you.
google avatar

Alan W.

Yelp
OMG!!! I love this place to the moon and back. What a fantastic supply of incredible Indian ingredients. This is the best Indian market I've had the pleasure of visiting. We got a ton of stuff and had a blast going down the aisles, exploring our favorite dishes. Lots of cool people were shopping there and a couple of guys were using the cricket bats on each other for non-savory purposes... oh my!
google avatar

Siddhartha P.

Yelp
This is the epicenter of Indian Grocery stores in Atlanta. They just opened up in a new building. It is a clean and organized spot to buy all your ethnic Indian groceries and supplies. It also has a delicious fast food spot to get a quick fix on some Indian food. Fresh veggies were decently priced and the Indian spices/grocery aisles were stocked well with almost all the brands. The prices here are great!. The management seems to be great at keeping the aisles clean and organized, hopefully that will last! They have a great selection of frozen foods and breads, which are what i usually go for. If you like Naans then try the 'Deep' brand they are the best! I hope they keep up the good work and will do follow up reviews to see how that goes!
google avatar

Sing V.

Yelp
This is a pretty legit Indian grocery stores. They stock the usual South/North Indian vegetable suspects and I'm able to get all that I need to re-live my childhood meals. They have a good selection of imported products (think MTR Badam (almond) milk, all the wonderful pickles, Indian Maggi and the pantry-staples (spices, lentils, pulses, rice, flours etc.). They're huge, well-stocked, clean and the employees are nice enough. One complaint I have is that they've been teasing me with a ready-,made food section which has yet to become fruitful in the last 16 months.

Yelp
Cherians is one stop grocery place for south Indian cooking, especially the Kerala Cuisine. I personally buy most of Indian groceries from Cherians. It's is not too far from it's famous North-Indian counterpart, Patel Brothers in Decatur, and probably about the same size too. The building has some parking in the front and plenty on sides. Until Cardamom Hills(also kerala kitchen in Lawrenceville) opened its doors, many didn't know about Kerala Cuisine in Atlanta.(Kerala is a southern state in India). Yes, even though south Indian cuisines share common elements, the preparation and taste varies based on what was locally available on these states. For those who are interested in kerala food, check out this website www.pachakam.com. And you can get all needed groceries for south-Indian dishes and even many north-indian dishes from Cherians. Cherians also have fresher produces than Patel brothers. They even carry some rare vegetables, like moringa leaves & it's long slender pods, tangy kenaf leaves, that we usually don't get at farmers market in USA. And they have all the spices you will ever need as well. Also a tip, if you like basmati rice, it's cheaper to buy it from Indian groceries like Cherians than buying it from other American or korean markets. You can buy it in ten or twenty pound bags and rice won't go bad for years. Another tip, if you are a non-indian(or Indian, feeling lazy - it happens) trying to cook Indian food, they have pre-made wet masala packs that you can just add to chicken or fish or beef and cook. I have tried several versions of those and I find it comparable(but not better) to made from scratch dishes. It's quite cheap, starting at $2.99. They operate this with minimal staffs, so you may not see them going to customers to check on them but if you ask for assistance, they always make sure to help you out in finding anything in the store. They also have a small shop selling snacks, but I don't find the snacks or food tasty there. For food or quick snack, you are better off going to other Indian places in the same neighborhood(there are plenty, just open yelp and search). Even with all it's faults, Cherians is undoubtedly the best south-indian grocery market in Atlanta. I highly recommend it. 5 stars.
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
Cherians is a hidden two-story building with lots of potential. I didn't know you could order special items or for your groceries to be shipped until I searched the website - how convenient! They have everything imaginable: food, cooking utensils, baked goods, spices, produce, Indian sodas, etc. Definitely worth a visit!

Shawn D.

Yelp
The store got a variety of collection. Price should have been better. The food court have a lot of Indian delicacies. Authentic enough. Considering taste, it's hit or miss.

Yelp
Unsatisfied customers service and expire thing they sell in the store Nancy make me very unhappy with her answer
google avatar

Amrin J.

Yelp
I have been coming to this place since 18yrs and I had a really bad experience at the Resturant in Cherians. The women at the counter Michell was really rude I asked her for a splenda she says It's out of stock, mins later I see her handing it to another "GORA" customer from underneath somewhere cause he only demanded Splenda. I went back and asked her, how come when I asked you.. you told me we don't have anymore? on which she replies...sometimes we have to give this to our "special"customers. I was really surprised & do not appreciate this kind of behavior & mentality. This girl has no respect for her own people. Mind it this is a INDIAN GROCERY Store!

Yelp
I can't believe I lived in Atlanta for four years and only discovered this gem at the very end. For my first visit, I felt that Cherians is hands-down much better than Patel Brothers. It is cleaner, neater, and much less hectic and crowded than Patel. Staff here are friendly and smiley. And the selection is mind-boggling. When I was looking for chickpea flour my jaw dropped when I saw how long the flour aisle was. Every single flour under the sun that you're looking for is no doubt here. The aisles are clearly marked, and there is a section of cooking where that is designed for the single person to a large family to a huge restaurant suited for an army. Huge stainless steel cooking pots. There is also a counter for hot food that had a pretty decent selection including a bakery case with fresh snacks and pastries. I had the idli sambar and it was pretty good for being fast food. There's a little section where you can sit and eat your food unlike at Patel brothers. Also it seems like they designed the layout a lot better here; at Patel once you finish ringing up your groceries it's really stressful to order a coconut water or a pastry from the bakery case which is right behind the checkout area. Here, there is much more space so people can lineup to get their fresh coconuts or to order something from the little restaurant without feeling like you have to elbow battle a couple of aunties and uncles. The parking lot seems to be a little treacherous so you do have to be careful driving in as the slope is pretty steep.

Rubina K.

Yelp
This is many time I got the expire product from Cherians this time also the thing happen the product was expire since August n still using the product to sell very unsatisfied with it plZ do check all the products date when u buy it from Cherians customer service not good

Yelp
Love this place... get all the Indian groceries over here... I always go here to get the pickles... Fish pickle is my favorite... Sometimes you get the Elite Plum Cake which is made in Kochi.. .. Its about 10 miles away so go there once in a month when my pickle stash gets over ;-)

Yelp
One of the best Masala dosa and sambar in the city. I love Mysore masala dosa, which is a little spicy. Samosas are good but the quality varied between visits. They have fresh vegetables, rest is a standard grocery store.

Asim R.

Yelp
We hapened to visit cherians to get aome groceries and found this little restaurant that serves authentic south indian vegetarian food. The ghee masala dosa and vada sambar along with filter coffee is amazing, costs around $10 and can serve 2 adults. Will definitely revisit.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for Indian grocery shopping. Cherians has a good collection of both North and South Indian spices, ready mixes, pickles, and other items from India. On Fridays there is less crowd and all the vegetables and other items are stocked well. It also has a small eatery with good indian food and snack items. Their dosa is the cheapest and best in Atlanta.

Hope A.

Yelp
The small eatery in Cherians makes the best uttapam of any restaurant I've had. The uttapams are large, served with samba and coconut chutney, and two of us struggle to finish one. The dosa and medu vada are also excellent. All the food on the menu is cheaper than you will find at sit-down restaurants. Chai and coffee are also good. It is also nice to come in the summer and get fresh coconut water straight from the green coconut and fresh sugarcane juice. As far as groceries, the whole spices are always good quality and affordably priced. I also like to try a different vegetable from the dollar rack (older produce) each week.

Jay S.

Yelp
We have been a regular customer of this grocery store/restaurant even before they moved to this new expanded, well lit, CLEAN and well stocked building. They have a huge variety of grocery to choose from. The staff is very helpful when you cannot find any item that you need. The best part is they have a fantastic restaurant which serves FRESHLY cooked meals. Their Idlis are THE BEST in town. They are soft and freshly made as you order. The "other grocery store " across the street seems to pale in comparison. We shop here regularly and yet to be disappointed. George always replies promptly if asked about any specific product I need. We have tried almost all Asian grocery stores in metro Atlanta area. This one is just the tops. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Mary P.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST Indian grocery store in the USA! It's HUGE w/ tons of variety for all of you Indian foodies out there! I've been going to Cherians for the past +15 years and it's still the best in regards to cleanliness, organization and variety. They recently renovated and expanded their store. I also shop at Patel Brothers down the street, but found that it's too cluttered, disorganized and just not as hygenic or clean as Cherians. And Cherians has twice the selection, variety and is slightly cheaper. Because Cherians is larger, their aisles are wider so there's less congestion, which makes shopping there a delight. There are also many workers (mainly hispanic), but they know their products and can show you exactly where to find what you need. The store owners are always found at the front of the store man-handling the check-out area. I like that they are still very hands-on with their store, despite the huge success. Cleanliness: What I love about this place is that every time I visit, there is always someone mopping, sweeping, wiping down, cleaning something. Being a healthcare provider, this makes me happy! Knowing that they make sanitation a top priority is a huge plus, especially for an Indian store. Food Selection: I love their frozen food section. They have an amazing selection of frozen samosas, naan, parathas, desserts! it's endless! Their spice selection is unmatched! I used to go to Dekalb Famer's Market for my spices, I still do, but they don't have a good variety of Indian spices like Cherians. Dekalb Farmer's Market also doesn't have a good variety of the many Indian flours or dal...like moong dal. They have a good fresh produce area with many southern/northern Indian vegetables, peppers, curry leaves for cheap! Cafe: They also have a small Indian food cafe at the front of the store with freshly made South Indian snacks. You MUST TRY their freshly made plantain chips...the best I've EVER had! They're so good, cooked perfectly and fresh. They sell it by the pound. Parking: It's located up a hill with a large sign that reads Cherians. The building is huge, but can be hard to miss b/c it's not along the street. Once you drive up the hill, you will find ample parking. Overall: this is the best Indian grocery store in Atl, a staple among the Indian community and a must for all foodies! If I ever have to move away from the perimeter, I'll deeply miss this place and Dekalb Farmer's Market.

Yelp
I love this place. The produce seems fresher than Patel Brothers and they are chock full of great food finds and hard to find ingredients. I come here to buy Indian spices, paneer, cashews, almonds, etc. They also have fresh coconut water vendors on the weekend (think fresh coconuts with straws) and an inside area for snacks such as Masala Dosa for just $3.99. Warning though: The service at the inside food stall is horrendous. The woman who runs it looks and acts like a witch to her staff and customers alike...she glares and pouts...but the dosa is decent for the price. The store is HUGE so you have less people running into you with shopping carts as compared to Patel Brothers. This place is on a hill behind Gokul Sweets and the entrance is plain screwy and up a hill with a severe lack of signage, so it is hard to find. The place is also extremely clean and organized. You cannot buy meat here which is the case with most Indian grocery stores, so head to the nearby Dekalb Farmers Market for your meats and seafood.

Yelp
Plus: A really large Desi grocery store with a wide selection of Indian, south Asian brands. Convenient location in Atlanta's Little India Four Stars because of a few Minus': Sells only large size packages and does not sell smaller size. Disadvantage for hose on short term trips or want to replenish stock more frequently Does not take AMEX cards. Many desi grocery shops have begun doing so. Matter of time before Cherians follows?

Yelp
Heard from a friend about Cherian's and decided to check it out. Cherian's is large and has a wide variety of produce, dry goods, freezer section etc. Plenty of Indian/Pakistani ready-made/boxed products that'll blow away any selection you're used to seeing at the other Int'l markets. Worth the visit.

Yelp
Pretty good South Asian grocery store for the area. Much of the produce is a better deal, and better quality, than what you get at the Dekalb Farmer's Market - especially when it comes to fresh cilantro, ginger, garlic, and other staples of Indian/Pakistani cooking. Spices are definitely much better here (I got tasteless cinnamon, cardomom, and cloves at Dekalb's - sigh - live and learn). Be sure to pick up some super-cheap pomegranate juice - Azerbaijani pom's bottled in good old Staten Island. (Yay, my home, New York!) Phone cards are cheap here. Please do not eat the disgusting prepared food sold here - the samosas and sweets - tasted stale and as if it was fried in old, already fried-in oil (A NO-NO!) I had to deal with a tummy ache for a few days. I repeat: Do yourself a favor and go to Rajbhog across the street for samosas, or even to Gokul (despite the filth and the attitude), but do not eat here. Weekend highlights at Cherian's include - fresh coconut juice (served in a coconut), and my favorite, fresh sugar cane juice. Be sure to ask for lemon juice and ginger juice for your sugar cane juice - At $2 a glass, it is well worth the mind-vacation to India.

Yelp
Wow. This has to be the best Indian grocery store. I was quickly brought back to India in here. However, I never saw a supermarket quite to this scale anywhere in India. The other half got quite upset with me as I danced around to an ol' fav by Sharukh Kahn while eating Kurkure yummies. The selection offered here is fantactic and may be worth a five star rating. Yay for Cherians!

oops o.

Yelp
Cherians is one of the Largest Indian Grocery Store in Atlanta may be in the United States. I heard about them through a friend. I visited there last week bought around $300 Groceries they have whole lot of items and fresh vegetables. Cashiers are very friendly and helpful. The owners or the managers are great i was coming out with all items on the cart, and one guy @ the front called a Mexican dude and he helped me out with all the groceries into my car! GREAT PLACE TO SHOP!!!!
