This restaurant adds another bbq restaurant to the newly cropping up mixed use/multi restaurant food courts and this time, to the Garden Oaks/Independence Heights neighborhoods.
While this bbq restaurant has standard bbq entrees on the menu, there are a few new and never seen before items that are definitely worth trying!
This Cherry Block has some items that the flagship store in Old Town Katy has, such as seasonings, jams and snacks; it also has the main main focus on food and drinks.
This not-so-typical bbq joint boasts steaks, but also has house-made items such as gumbo, sausage, crawfish egg rolls (aughhhh...must-try) and smoked boudain. It also raises the bar offering mixed drinks with house-made mixes and unique takes on classic mixed drinks, such as bone broth to the Bloody Mary's for an extra flavor and nutrient kick!
I ordered two, Three-Meat plates (all plates come with two sides). I had their: brisket, house sausage, boudain, chicken, pork ribs with mac and cheese, bloody mary greens (don't fret as if you like vegetable beef soup or beef cabbage soup, it tasted just as remarkable, but has bacon in it, I believe), house fries (very similar to seasoning of the likes of Chili's) and corn bread (this was more like a soufflé...corn bread mix, typical peppers and probably an egg as a binder, but nonetheless, FANTASTIC!).
You be the judge, so do give this a try and if that's just not enough, the entire collection of restaurants share a commons area, similar to that of the farmers market on Airline Avenue, so you kids are going to be free to run around, yet stay corralled within the business, not to mention spacious seating from picnic tables outside to comfortably cushioned seating inside!
To top this off, there is a mixed beverage stand within the commons, so getting a mixed drink from the mixologist is just footsteps away!
