I went to Cherry during DC Restaurant Week. I'm certainly glad I didn't pay full price. The concept & plating was good, but execution was poor.
Apps: 1. Fire Roasted Olives & Feta - They forgot the feta! We got a bowl of olives with bread, which was actually pizza crust, and very good.
2. Cold Corn Soup - Pleasantly surprised
Entrees: 1. Filet with Potatoes - Filet was tender, but the accommpanying spinach was dry and overly smoked.
2. Pork Loin - the entire dish was warm, not hot, but the flavors were great. Favorite dish of the night.
Dessert: 1. Roasted Peach with Ice Cream - the peach was not roasted; it was raw and cold. The ice cream was absolutely flavorless; not creamy, not vanilla, just blah. It was the most disappointing dish of the night.
2. Carrot Cake - the cake it's self was excellent; moist and flavorful. The side carrots were cooked carrots, which was an odd choice for a dessert
Service: Our waitress had no personality. She didn't smile; there was no inflection in her voice. She checked on us before we even had a bite of our app, and then didn't come back until we were halfway through our entree. She's didn't know how to repsond when we told her about the missing feta. You could tell she was new, and not comfortable.
