The Best Restaurants In Chestnut Hill & Roxborough

"At Chestnut Hill Grill, you can either dine either indoors in a comfy booth or outside at the spacious sidewalk cafe. But wherever you sit, you should try their New Orleans catfish. The juicy and tender fish is flawlessly blackened and gets an extra peppery kick from the spicy cajun aioli. It’s a casual place to head to after a day of shopping or walking through a neighborhood that looks like the cover of a gardening magazine. " - candis mclean, alison kessler

I go here a couple of times during the Summer, its a nice place to sit outside and dine. It has a lot of shade and the staff is very nicd and attentive, The house salad with chicken is good and so is the turkey garden sandwich. Also not super pricey to eat here and alot of places to walk and see around the street #food #dining #eat #dinner

Have been a frequent customer for years. Me and my mother come here quite often but on today our experience was different . Upon walking in the main lobby it was busy (no problem at all). Because it was so busy there a lack of order (again understandable). Everything was fine until it was finally our turn to put our name down to be seated when a couple walked in front of us to put their name down. My mother politely interjected. She asks the host "if we able to get our name down as we were there first. It was only fair. Unprofessionally and without an apology the hostess then tells her " to relax and calm down". The hostess was ready to argue for no reason at all. Not the way to treat paying customers. I want to give benefit of the doubt that this is an one off bad experience and one employee who just have no business in customer service. However this last visit has left a sour taste.

Google
We had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant! The food was incredibly delicious, with the risotto and shrimp being my favorites. Both appetizers, the calamari and bruschetta, were spot on—I couldn’t decide which one I liked more. The outdoor ambience was fantastic, especially with the lovely weather. I'm really glad we chose this place. It was a truly delightful meal!

We were waiting for a booth inside, but decided to eat outside instead. The atmosphere was pleasant and peaceful. From the artwork on the walls, to the water fountains, to the flowers, to the music. The food was absolutely delicious! Our server Kay Kay was awesome. We will be back.

Google
I always love coming here. The food is delicious. I would recommend pretty much everything. I particularly love their Lamb Chops, the Burgers, and the Fish Tacos. Service is always great, friendly staff. The atmosphere is really nice too. And they have very nice seating outside. It's in a lovely walkable neighborhood.

My friend and I had an amazing time and lunch here for the first time. The fresh ingredients and amazing flavors was delicious. Just be aware that parking is difficult and limited with meters plus the traffic for the farmer's market in the back makes the area super busy especially on the weekends. The atmosphere is lively and surrounded by beautiful artworks.

Yelp
The hostess welcomed me with a smile and escorted me to a table along Germantown Ave. My partner and I enjoyed lunch on a beautiful sunny warm Thursday afternoon. I ordered the wings, he ordered the coconut shrimp, and we shared a side of fries. We each washed it down with a cold beer. The service was good. The food was good and we wouldn't mind returning to try another item on the menu that's served after 4pm.

Yelp
Great ambience, love the location. Menu basic but well done, cocktails well done light in volume/size. Would return to enjoy the outside, "village" ambiance in warmer months.

Yelp
Went for lunch and was seated outside. Place looks nice and all. Took 15 minutes to be greeted after flagging down a server, who was friendly. Another 15 minutes to get our drinks which consisted of two iced teas and two sodas. After about 40 minutes of no food from time of order and asking for an update, we were brought 2 out of four dishes, one of which was not what we ordered. The other two dishes, which were a children's pasta and chicken tenders, were MIA. Our original server finally came back with some very dry pasta that looked to have been sitting for sometime in the kitchen. Still no chicken tenders or our other entrees. We asked to pay for our drinks and leave. They told us not to worry about paying and we left the restaurant without eating. Would not recommend based on service. Never tried the food.

Yelp
We walked in hungry and excited to try someplace new in Chestnut Hill. We'd always driven by and seen happy customers on the outdoor seating area and decided that that would be us for the day! After looking at the extensive menu, we ordered a slew of snacks: coconut shrimp, wings and hummus to start as appetiser. The breading on the coconut shrimp was great, flakes of coconut with a crispy skin had a great *crunch* to it. The hummus was tasty and flavorful--it was on a bed of zucchini with olives and soaked with oil (yum!). The wings were only alright, accompanied with blue cheese dipping sauce. For the main courses, we ordered the chicken salad sandwich, the fried chicken crispy sandwich, caesar salad with salmon on top and the chicken parm. The chicken parm was good flavorful and would order again. Probably would not order the rest again. The chicken sandwich-I was not a fan of the mangos and slaw combo. The dressing/sauce was good but the chicken was also dry-it was more breading than anything. The fries were good--big, potatoey wedges. The Caesar dressing was very anchovy-y and the salmon was also dry. Our server was nice. However, the food took a long while for us to get. There was a big delay and our server had said it was because of a large party downstairs. It took us about 40 minutes to get our appetizers before we even got our entrees. Because we waited so long, we lost our appetites. We sat outside it was it had just rain so it was a good mix of humid and warm. The inside area is dark and intimate. They have an upstairs area with a bar and tables. The downstairs area was very wine-cellar/cave-esque almost like a basement. Another patron had told me to next time get the lamb chops--she travelled from New Jersey just for the lamb chops so any indication of how good it is that will likely be what we order next visit.

Yelp
People always miss great dining experiences by skipping out on chestnut hill due to the location. This place is definitely worth the trip. It's in a quaint location and perfect spot to people watch. We enjoyed lunch outside and everything was fresh and came out quickly. The menu is a good variety of things for any type of eater. I'd recommend for lunch or dinner!

Yelp
I ordered the beef brisket sandwich and it was very delicious came with side of coleslaw. Friendly service and clean atmosphere.

Yelp
I went here for happy hour 4-6 and was impressed. I had low expectation due to the ratings. I was skeptical about salmon spaghetti salad but surprisingly that was my favorite! Salmon was nicely seared and not overcooked, and worked well with the crunchy lettuce and noodles. Everything else was pretty average. I was a bit disappointed with my sirloin burger, it was very bland and nothing special. Otherwise I'm giving a 4 because of the ambiance, service and salad!

Yelp
This is a cute restaurant grille conveniently connectted to a small boutique hotel. A friend of mine loves this place and always tells me I need to try. It's a great place for lunch. Not a ton of options but a variety nonetheless. I highly recommend the coconut shrimp. Very tasty. The Grilled Petite Lamb Chops with an arugula salad were good but SO SMALL. You only get three so definitely not worth the $19. You can skip those.

Yelp
A visit to one of my all time favorites in the neighborhood did not disappoint! Plenty of outdoor seating let's you soak in a beautiful day in the shade. The draft list is even better than ever, with some stunningly great beers. Lunch treats on the recent trip included the chicken salad on a stunning raisin walnut bread and fries. The fries here are the bomb. The veggie panini was excellent with a thin crust and the slaw is no mayo, hint of Asian sweetness that is perfect on a sunny afternoon. Paired with a hazy IPA.

John B.

Yelp
The Chestnut Grill has a friendy vibe with pleasant wait staff and great Happy Hour food and draft beer specials specials. However. my advice is to avoid the Happy Hour well drink specials at all costs.

Yelp
Excellent food and great service. This is one of my favorite spots in Chestnut Hill. I feel at home here, and everyone is so courteous.

Yelp
Ordered the shrimp and risotto. It was a little too light on the shrimp but it was delicious. I was with a group of 14 and everyone loved their dinners. Highly recommend this restaurant, especially for groups. We had a downstairs table. If you have trouble with steps, remember this is something to consider.

Yelp
Such a cute little place! Dined here with a friend of mines and we had a great time. Our server was Ethan, he was nice, and made sure we had what we needed. We sat in the bar area because the seating was filled outside--I'd recommend making a reservation if you have the chance as this place is very small. We started out with the vegetarian chili nachos which were fantastic! Then we shared the catfish wrap and shrimp risotto. The wrap was FIRE!!! The shrimp risotto was good too, but a little bit in the heavier side of things so I couldn't finish it after having everything else. Topped the evening off with the caramel pecan peach pie which I'm almost sure I'll be having dreams about. I will definitely be coming back here again. Thanks Chestnut Grill!!

Yelp
Quick and dirty review - Came here to grab lunch and I have driven past this restaurant several times before actually stopping inside. Shoutout to our waiter Giancarlo (so?) who was super kind and very knowledgeable. I ordered the Caesar Salad w/ Shrimp. Nothing too exciting, pretty hard to mess up but very tasty and the shrimp were plump and delicious. Would 100% recommend getting the coconut shrimp as appetizer because they were bomb. You can see sone of the remains in the photos. Now my wife ordered the Chocken Salad which she rated as meh (6 out of 10). The raisin bread from the chicken salad was a little burnt and there was enough chicken salad to make several sandwiches. Again the food was solid and I will definitely come again for lunch. Happy eating

Yelp
I love it here! I live super close and usually order the lamb burger because I already know how delicious it is. I decided to try something new when I went last night. We started with the nachos with veg chili. They were good and there were a lot of them but it wasn't your typical nachos appetizer set up where there are a ton of toppings. I ordered the shrimp risotto as my entree which was delicious. We got the toll house pie for dessert which was also really tasty. The service was great and they have an awesome outdoor dining setup!

Yelp
Food was delicious! Ordered a mango margarita and catfish tacos...fish was fresh and hot...mango was sweet with just the right amount of house tequila...and I'm from Phoenix so I know my margaritas...my mother loved the coconut shrimp and lemon chicken...portions were awesome...no complaints! Sat outside in beautiful weather...server was attentive and listened to our requests which is always a plus...I will definitely be back the next time I come back!

Yelp
My first visit to this, the restaurant of the Chestnut Hill Hotel. Was happy to find a place open on a Monday for lunch. Was immediately seated downstairs. The bar and dining area upstairs had a warm, homey look to it. Service was excellent, and food overall looked to be good. But I was very disappointed with the veggie burger. A very perfunctory exercise of serving a the generic frozen burger, with not much attention to the bun/bread. One little pickle slice on the side? Perhaps this is their idea of insulting the vegetarians. I had asked for onion, but it wasn't included. I mean, you do have to dress these things up a bit, and no effort was made in that direction. The fruit salad on the side was completely unripe, not ready to be served. Very disappointing lunch. The other items at our table (nachos, for example) looked much better, however, so I think it's fair to keep this at 3 stars.

Yelp
Food was great and service was quick. Chef was exceptionally kind and quite personable. Sat outside and the decor was super inviting. Again I have to comment on how amazing the chef was. Handsome too!

Yelp
Visited this establishment for the first time and it was a pleasurable experience. Unfortunately me and my party arrived kind of late towards closing time but our host, "Lilian" was still very hospitable nonetheless with her courteous customer service. The food was satisfactory for a late evening meal but I can wholeheartedly say the pleasantry of our service made it worthy enough for me and my party to definitely frequent this nice restaurant again. Kudos again!

Yelp
Chestnut Grill and Sidewalk Cafe is very much underrated, possibly because it has been around so long, about 25 years. We have been there many times and never been disappointed. We had a huge family gathering there a while back, and all 16 people were delighted with the food and service. The outdoor seating is wonderful when weather permits. Our dinner last night was perfect. I especially appreciate the vegetarian options since I do not eat meat. The vegetarian chili and vegetarian panini were so delicious last night, as was the divine warmed peach pie dessert a la mode. A Bourbon cocktail was a "10." Our server, Jack, who should be cloned, was sensational, and the greeter, Suzy, who has been there for years, always has a smile on her face. She is another huge asset. Perfect for both lunch and dinner. Very highly recommended!

Yelp
This place was awesome! I had the catfish wrap with fries. I didn't try anyone else's soup but it smelled amazing. Everyone said they were very pleased with their meals. And when I was looking at the menu I scoffed at the salmon salads price because normally you don't get enough salad. However I saw them bring it out to another table and it was enormous. Can't wait to go back and get it. Heaters out about the tables kept us comfortable. Wait staff was great. We got to hang out with what I assumed was the owner or general manager while we waited for a table. There is a little farmers market you can walk over to while you wait. We finished off the night with bread pudding and Lattes.

Yelp
Soo good and convenient we ate here TWICE! The shrimp risotto was delicious! The burgers and portobello mushroom sandwich were also fan favorites by our group. It was even good take out the next night! They had a lot of great bar drinks listed on the cocktail menu but the real steal is the house wine which is tasty strong and cheap! The service was great both time and we loved the alley atmosphere with twinkle lights and pop up art exhibit!

Yelp
This place always delivers. I ordered a juicy burger and an ice tea. I love the friendly vibe in here and would definitely come back, by myself, for a drink at the bar.

Yelp
The Chestnut Grill is an old Chestnut Hill standby. This is not a spectacularly creative eatery and def not gourmet ... yet it can serve up some tasty dishes and is most reliable. There is an upstairs bar and two dining rooms in the basement in a Ratskeller-like atmosphere. Chestnut Grill's most famous dining and drinking areas are however reserved for warmer weather and consist of an outdoor café on the porch of the old Chestnut Hill Hotel as well as outdoor tables on the attractive flower-adorned pathway leading to the Chestnut Hill Farmers Market. Indeed this is one of Philadelphia's prettiest and best outdoor spaces for eating. Now for the food. Happy Hour brings some good specials for $5 including the tasty loaded fries (I'm sure I took a few months off of my life eating these) and a solid sirloin burger. Other dishes we tried were a perfectly decent chicken parmesan, wonderful coconut shrimp, and a delicious spicy Asian chicken noodle salad (except it wasn't spicy - you have to add your own hot sauce.) Service was friendly and I have no doubt I will be back at Chestnut Grill and Sidewalk Café at some point in time.

Yelp
When I crave roasted pear salad and goat cheese I head to Chesnut Grill. I discovered this great spot in 2004, and it has always been a great stopover when I'm in the Chesnut Hill area of Philadelphia. The food they offer is a vast array of standard American fare, but always served with a twist. My friend loves their burgers, while others enjoy their salmon!! The best part, in warmer weather you can enjoy a meal on their porch, while you watch the world go by. This restaurant is located in a great area to shop " small" vendors, who offer specialties. Go! Enjoy a day in this area and have a meal at The Chesnut Grill!

Yelp
Wow. Talk about a gem hidden in plain sight. My companion and I were staying at the Chestnut Hill Hotel, so we decided to try this restaurant for a quick lunch. We were seated at a booth next to the bar. She ordered the B & B Burger and I ordered the chicken flatbread spinach salad. She said the burger was one of the best she's had in her life. High praise! But let me tell you about my salad... holy smokes was this freaking delicious. The pickled red onion. The red pepper spread. The warm goat cheese. How the naan soaked up everything. I have been craving this salad from the moment I took my last bite. I NEED this salad again. We were so impressed with lunch we came back for dinner the next night. This time we were seated downstairs and were pleasantly surprised! The space downstairs is so much bigger and yet feels intimate with the mood lighting. Like you've sneaked off to a beautiful wine cellar. My companion ordered the beef brisket sandwich, I ordered the lemon chicken over polenta, and we shared a happy hour appetizer of their seasonal bruschetta which had roasted eggplant. The bruschetta was delicious! I honestly could've eaten the whole serving myself. I tried a bite of the beef brisket and it was good, but not amazing. My lemon chicken was a fantastic serving size. I love capers so the more the better for me. Another great meal. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
We were staying at a local hotel and stopped in here on the recommendation of the hotel desk clerk, didn't know what to expect since the Yelp reviews were ordinary. The outdoor eating area was closed due to weather, we got the last of the three tables in the bar. It was crowded, but the atmosphere was pleasant and the service was good. We ordered soups and entrees. My wife's Manhattan clam chowder was very good, if a little spicy for her taste. My cheddar ale soup was excellent, rich and flavorful. She had the salmon nicoise salad, the salmon was cooked perfectly, and my lamb burger was also delicious. In general, the menu was a little limited, and many of the menu items weren't available when we were there. Nevertheless, I'd definitely recommend this place for a good casual dinner.

Yelp
I have been a fan of the Chestnut Hill Grill for years! I enjoy the laid back vibe and the staff are usually friendly; attentive and the food is consistently good! While my Mom and Auntie were visiting Philly..we found ourselves in Chestnut Hill around dinner time..not mine...the early bird special time (4:30 or so....lol) and the Grill was open and ready! My Mom has the lamb and Auntie enjoyed a large salad and chicken dish! They enjoyed how well the meal was prepared and flavors....oh you ask-what did I have --Drinks..liquid dinner..as you can imagine keeping guests entertained is exhausting and mind numbing at times...so I needed a pick me up and it helped! Lol I was pleased with the value of the dinner along with the good service!

Yelp
I normally pick up orders from the resturaunt through grubhub , uber eats , and caviar but on yesterday I was outside watching a woman put her hands in a young lady face and yelling not sure what the issue was. I was coming to pick up a grubhub order for someone nearby. I stood outside finishing up a phone call with a friend when I watched for about a minute the issue occur before I decided to come into the resturaunt. I felt bad for the young lady because of the tone the woman was using with her. I heard the young lady asking for the woman to stop with the hand in her face but the woman did not stop she just kept going. I hope that young lady is okay I wish it was something I could have done it's sad that people are not respectful anymore.

Yelp
I mean I can't say I'm wowed by this place. The two times I've been here I have had the breakfast burger. The one thing I WILL say that Im impressed with is that they know how to cook a burger. If you say medium. You're getting medium not medium well. Not well. I know from now on that they know what they're doing with that. Besides that it was a burger. Not seasoned amazing but definitely not bad. Nice and messy. It was warm inside on a very cold day. The people are very nice.

Yelp
Solid food. Noisy place. The acoustics, both upstairs and down, seem to reflect sounds back at you so that everybody seems to bee competing to talk over each other. The food was unique. The specials were creative. There was quite a few dessert options. There were also some very creative drink options as well. I had the coconut curry chicken served over rice. It was very tasty with excellent flavor. We had the bruschetta of the day. Today's was eggplant caponata served over hummus on crusty French bread. Excellent caponata! We also had the hummus. It tasted as though it was freshly made with olive oil on top. Served with pita and fresh grilled zucchini and an assortment of olives. We all really enjoyed the hummus. This is probably the fastest service I have ever experienced in a restaurant. Our entrees came out within 10 minutes minutes of receiving our appetizers. Because of the noise, I'm not sure that I would revisit this restaurant. The food quality, if you live in the area, certainly makes a repeat visit worthwhile.

Roger K.

Yelp
The food was great but the service was bad. No offers for drink refills the entire meal. We paid our check with 4 empty drinks that were empty for the last 20 mins of the meal. No offer of sugar with tea either. There was a 15 to 20 minute wait between the time our appetizers were cleared and our meals brought out. I've worked in restaurants for over a decade and there's no excuse for this lack of service other than laziness. You typically tell the kitchen staff when to start cooking the entrees to minimize the time between courses. The hotel receptionist didn't acknowledge us either when we came in. We stood for minutes before calling her attention. It seemed passive aggressive. The food was great. I'll gladly come back for the food and continue giving a poor tip for the poor service. It saves me money. I thought you worked for tips?

Yelp
I was taking my 90 year old cousin out for the day. Decided to go to Chestnut Hill Grill for lunch. I have been here before and the food is always good. I called to see if they take reservations and was told only for parties of 5 or more. I explained that my cousin was 90 years old and didn't want her standing around to long waiting for a seat. They let me talk to the manager and they were very nice and accommodating. They also suggested we sit upstairs so she wouldn't have to climb the stairs. Also the bathroom is on the first floor (none downstairs). When we arrived, our table was waiting :) I did not realize that on the weekends they only have a brunch menu until two pm. This was my only issue. The menu is set for certain times. That's it! You can't get any options off the lunch or dinner menu at that time. The waitress was pleasant and patient with us. Giving us time to decide what to order. She was helpful with answering all our questions. My cousin decided on the Classic Egg Breakfast with sausage. She could not understand that a potato pancake was potatoes and that she didn't need syrup! She said everything was delicious. I got the Brunch Burger with fries. The beef was fresh and juicy. The egg on top was just right. The fries, just the right amount of crispy. My food was also very good! It turned out to be a very pleasant day with my favorite cousin :) P.S. They have a parking lot that is for all the stores and restaurants in the area, but it is very busy and hard to find a space on the weekends.

Yelp
I enjoyed this restaurant and dining outdoors. I came here on a date and prior to coming I was looking for restaurants with outdoor dining and this one was up my alley. We were seated rather quickly since it was only two of us. Our waitress was nice and quick. I ordered a chicken sandwich which also had mango pieces on it. It was different but tasty. I would dine here again

Yelp
Great food. We had a salad, coconut shrimp and the chicken sandwich and it was the best.

Yelp
I was a little disappointed that the entrees on the menu weren't available until 4pm (or 5pm, I cant remember which). But I generally enjoyed everything else there. The wait staff was friendly and VERY fast. The beer list was decent - I rather enjoyed a fresh #Adulting by Evil Genius on a crisp afternoon. The food from what was available was pretty good. I had the tuna tacos and found them to be extremely fresh and tasty. And despite not being an entree, the portion size was still pleasantly large. It was much smaller inside that I thought it would be (at least downstairs), but it made for a cozy atmosphere to be honest. I felt at-home sitting there enjoying my day and my meal. The next time I'm in Chestnut Hill, I'll definitely want to stop in there for a drink or a meal again. Looking forward to trying an entree next time as well.

Jane W.

Yelp
I have been coming to and enjoying CH Grill for many years. Today my partner and I went for lunch on a very slow day and ordered what we usually order - Mendocino Chicken salad and Salmon Salad Nicoise. The service was inattentive. Our food was served before we got cutlery. Dressing on the side was not in the side and not very tasty. The egg and potato were super cold and unappealing, like they've been sitting in the fridge since yesterday. Very disappointing. We had to go in search of our server to get our check. Just a bad day or a downhill slide? TBD.

John G.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped for lunch today, excellent experience. Cajun Catfish appetizer was delicious, generous portion for an app but was not overly filling as the fish was light and tender. Brisket Sandwich was delicious as were the fish tacos. Fabulous desserts - Italian Lemon Cake and Banana and Chocolate Cake! Service was excellent as well and the porch setting was great! Highly recommend, yum!

Shona M.

Yelp
Great food and drinks. My husband and I have gone twice and ate the same things on both visits because they were that good. My meal of choice is the shrimp scampi risotto, which is flavorful and comes out at the perfect temperature. I love the addition of pesto to the meal for even more deliciousness. My husband orders the fried chicken sandwich and it's always so fresh and juicy. For my son, we ordered a grilled cheese and french fries and those were tasty too. It is a small restaurant and they don't accept reservations, so be prepared to wait around for a bit to be seated after you put your name on the list. There is a nearby park, so we walked to the park and spent a little time there before coming back to see if we were up next, which we were.

Yelp
My friend and I had a girls night out tonight and she suggested coming here because of the rave reviews! We were told indoor seating was pretty packed so we decided to sit outside. The heat lamps really helped to keep things warm enough while we ate a light dinner. Between the two of us we shared a salad, mussels, and dessert. The salad was the mango and shrimp salad which was refreshing and very tasty! The shrimp was fresh and cooked just enough to be tender while also seared (although I'm pregnant so I only ate a couple of them just to be safe.) It's large enough to be an entree for one person, and worth the price in my opinion! Unfortunately, the mussel dish was left untouched. They reeked of seawater and didn't taste fresh at all. A table next to us ordered them later in the evening and I could smell them from where we were sitting. To the establishment's credit, they didn't charge us for the dish after we asked them to take the mussels away. Dessert was phenomenal, though! Such a nice way to end the meal. We decided to share their banana and chocolate bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. It was decadent, moist, and filling. I would bring my husband here just so he could try the dessert! Our waiter was attentive and very helpful the entire evening. I would come back to try the other food they offer.

Yelp
I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but I stopped in last week for a drink. I was very impressed with the customer service from the bartender. He looked young, is blonde, and (I'm pretty sure) his name is Ethan. He took care of not only me, but the other customers with class and grace, making efforts to connect with everyone and was personable all around. I'm a pretty tough critic so this holds great weight! The drink was great (forget what it was), and I had the bruschetta special, which was excellent. I've been here twice and I have not had any issues with service, food, or drink. Hopefully Ethan is working if you decide to stop by!

Yelp
Food is upper end bar food. Must say that they're totally hit or miss about seating - sometimes they'll seat you on the side of the building, sometimes not... and really ambiguous on when they stop seating on a Friday night before. Super frustrating.

Yelp
Good food, good prices and excellent service. I've driven pass this restaurant numerous times over the years and never ventured to try them out. Finally, I somewhat dubiously made the decision to get dinner there. Good call for me this time because the food was good and pricing was comfortable. Plus, the service was awesome. I got a crab cake sandwich. It was just ok flavor wise--not the best crab cake I've had; yet it was sizable. The fries were really good so it compensates for the underwhelming sandwich. My friend got the homestyle beef brisket which he enjoyed. Said it was very tender. We both drank lemonade which was refreshing with the right amount of sweetness. That was on time because we had been walking in heat and worked up a big thirst. Get the lemonade :) Seldom do you get excpetional service and when you do, it's worthy of noting. Our server was very attentive, kind, suggestive on popluar meals and friendly. Kudos to whomever hired him. We ate indoors, opposed to the popular outdoor seating there. It reminded me of a french-styled restuarant. It was a liitle unclean as some crumbs was on seating, but it wasn't too significant not to sit comfortably. I look forward to outdoor seating next time. Parking was good in the back, but can be limited.

Yelp
Great potential, but always hit or miss with the food. Sat in the downstairs area a number of times. No phone service down there. The last time I went it smelled like a dumpster. Service was poor. Dessert was good though.

Yelp
I got the lamb burger and fries. It was really good. The burger comes medium and was comes to perfection. The only issue I had with this place was that they seemed to be severely under staffed. We probably say there for about 2 hours in total. All we ordered was nachos as an appetizer (which were also really good) and we reach ordered a sandwich (there was four of us). I would have given this place five stars had the service been a little quicker.

Yelp
I went with my parents here for a Brunch and it was amazingly delicious. I ordered the Brioche French Toast & it far exceeded my expectations. They also have a great Bloody Mary. I will definitely visit again for the tasty food. Well worth it.

Yelp
I went for lunch this week. The good: Location has free parking in rear. Unfortunately, I didn't know that but street parking was plentiful and inexpensive. They have outdoor seating. There's variety on the menu. Our server was timely and attentive. The ok: The food was just ok. I had a grilled fish taco. I'm a HUGE taco aficionado. The raw cabbage provided a nice crunch but little flavor. The fish as well wasn't really seasoned. The flavor came from the guacamole and the salsa toppings. It wasn't awful but it also wasn't something I would return for or recommend. Overall it was a decent meal, with acceptable service and a good price. I won't be rushing back and I expect there are other option in the area that are better.

Yelp
Updating review because we went back to find they've changed the menu. After moving out of Philadelphia, we came back here for a visit since it is our favorite spot in the Chestnut Hill area, but we were a bit disappointed by the changes made since our last visit over a year ago. I'm not sure if it's under new management but the staff seemed a little flustered by the dinner rush and didn't appear to know what to do with us when we arrived. We assumed the staff members were new, but it's ok to tell us there's a wait. We will wait patiently! We were very sad to find some of our favorites (namely the gnocchi and the goat cheese ravioli, among others) were taken off the menu. I hope management will consider adding those menu items back. We ended up ordering only an appetizer and not dinner because there wasn't much on the menu we wanted to eat now that it's changed. We used to love this place and still want to see it succeed, but I don't think we'd return unless they change the menu again.
