"I go to Cheu Noodle Bar at 10th and Locust more frequently than any other restaurant. They always have a couple of Tired Hands beers on tap, they’ve got a rotation of creative happy hour snacks, and the holy trinity of matzo ball, brisket, and ramen is the ultimate meal." - Rachel Vigoda

"Darragh and chef Puchowitz, longtime friends from the Philly suburbs, started out with Cheu Noodle Bar, a snug spot in Washington Square West serving ramen and a handful of small plates — dumplings, black garlic chicken wings — in a colorfully decorated space. Cheu opened in 2013; in early 2015, they opened Bing Bing Dim Sum on East Passyunk Avenue." - Rachel Vigoda

Food is really good and staff is very helpful and friendly. There is a good selection of plates, cocktails, and sake. It is a very small space. But the decor and ambiance is cozy and intimate. There is a bar as well as seating area that are equally nice to sit at. One thing though is that each time I go, the food is really salty. It's good but it's really salty. Sometimes its unpleasantly salty.I am constantly drinking water and even when I leave my tongue is parched and dry. The broth, the dumplings, wings... etc. Is all sooo salty. I hope they can lay off the sodium a bit.

The food was alright - not quite authentic, more westernized type. The miso soup noodles, and beef dumplings are good choices. The place is small so getting a table during busy hours is difficult - note no bookings for small parties. Service is excellent.

Very creative and tasty ramen. Cool decor and nice service! 7 moms walk away from magic garden. Love the food and experience! The classic miso ramen rocks.

My old review of this place was very favorable but as time goes by I revisit and update reviews. Lately I have been very dissatisfied with CheU, at first it was nothing worth updating a review over but yesterday did it. The brisket was very firm and dry, it did nothing for the ramen. This is a first and I was pretty disappointed as I had been craving ramen all week and passed on a chance to try Morimotos tonkotsu ramen which was obviously a mistake. Ultimately what did it was simply that my GF found a hair in her drink and the waitress did nothing but get her a new glass. I get planting hairs is an old trick and I'm not expecting a free meal but comping one of the small plates or throwing in something may have helped. I've eaten here dozens of times and I can say this was the last. Really disappointed.

Great ramen spot albeit a little pricey for other comparable / similar ramen spots in center City. This location has mostly bar seating with a few tables. I had the 'chinese take out' which was delicious. It was ho-fa noodles that came accompanied with a stir fry in a takeout container. I concur with an earlier reviewer - that the music was a tad bit loud, although I did not care, as I was dining alone at lunch time.

Good unique selection of ramen and apps. This location is much better than the Fishtown. Chicken was breaded near perfectly. Meats in the ramen was flavorful and noodles had good texture to bite into. Broth was delicious, only ask might be to get a little more to dip on. Overall, highly recommended. Very small venue to expect to wait during normal lunch and dinner hours.

Loved the Ramen. The service was the best part. The restaurant was packed so we had to wait a little for a table. The hostess checked in with us a few times to apologize for the wait. When seated, she comped us an appetizer for being so patient. I will definitely be back.

This is a great spot. The food was great and came out at a good speed. The quality of the food was quite well. My only complaint would be that the noodles didn’t taste fresh or authentic. Also, this is a tight spot, as in not that much seating. So maybe your best bet might be to order out if you have a large party. Other than that, its a neat little spot for some lunch time noodles and what not. [pictured is the brisket ramen $15]
