Witnessed history as the concert was amazing! Eric Gales and Buddy Guy gave great performances. Then both legends were so happy as it was declared that June 17, 2025 was Eric Gales and Buddy Guy Day in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Melissa Carroll

Google
It was my first and last time. We had great seats, but they had no AC n everyone felt like they were going to pass out. It was like a sauna. Way too hot.

Kerri Pinkham

Google
Such a great theater! Lots of variety of shows, easy parking across the street, and good prices for shows! Pics of our view from the 3rd row on the balcony. Great view!

Angela Richards

Google
Great show & staff from the security check to the bar to the bathroom to the ushers were wonderful. Sat in the balcony, 2nd row back and the safety rail was exactly at eye level which was a bit disappointing. Also, despite it being March 1 in New England the balcony was HOT!!! Smart & experienced visitors to the venue knew to layer up with tank tops underneath & were in them by the time the concert ended.

Google
First off, the staff were very nice. I chatted with one for a while and she was very friendly. So hats off to the staff! However, the venue itself is so so. The balcony level is HOT, the seats are hard, and the views are iffy. I saw the lower level had cushioned seats. Also, there is basically NO parking so you are on your own to find street parking or get lucky in a nearby parking lot. It took us 20 minutes just to drive past the theater to begin to look for parking. We eventually found some in the neighborhood.

Jon Newman

Google
Parking was street parking. There was no event parking that I could see. I was nervous about this but we found a parking lot that seemed ok. Glad to find no ticket or my car towed. The venue had one male bathroom with 6-8 urinals. However, it was a single file, so you have to squeeze by other people using the urinals to get to an open urinal. How in the world do they pass health or fire codes let alone ADA laws? Either they have been grandfathered in on a lot of safety compliance laws or the owners "know" a great deal of people in high places. In general, I don't mind loud music but the music was so loud through much of the show that it was distorted. Bad acoustics. I highly doubt I would go back to this venue.

No Pics allowed. Box office was helpfull. Seats were great. Gino was awesome and sounds system as well. Parking is difficult but do able.

A great place for a show. Go to the bathroom before you get there...huge lines and not enough bathrooms.

Yelp
Had an awesome time here watching Zarna Garg stand up comedian last night! Great way to spend New Year's Eve with lots of laughter! She is so funny! First time at the Chevalier theater. We only bought tickets the day of and were able to get Orchestra right row Y seats which was not too bad at all. We had an aisle seat so it was convenient to get to but not so much when others had to go in and out. Sound quality was good and we could see the comedian well from our seats. Really fun show. Parking was easy in the lot behind the City hall and free. Only a short 5 minute walk to the theater. Very convenient. The lobby is not too big, there is a concession stand though we didn't get any. Restrooms and water fountains are on either side. I like that they have water fountains so you don't have to buy water. Tip: they check bags and if you have bottled water or drinks they make you pour them outside before entering. So I had to pour off the water from my bottle but was able to fill it inside at the water fountain. There were 3 sets of checkers so the line went fast and wasn't much of a wait. Seats were comfortable for the almost 2 hour duration we were there. Overall great experience!

Yelp
I personally prefer this theatre to the ones in boston, particularly due to its ease of access than getting through the boston traffic/cold. The space is a lot larger and more accommodating as well. Saw Jimmy O Yang. Wish their drink and food options were a bit better, varied, and more reasonably priced.

Julie F.

Yelp
We came here for the Gazillion bubble show. The theater itself does not have parking, but I parked a bit down Forest. It's an older theater, but we were able to have a great view from row P in the left orchestra. My 5 year old did fine in the seats. The rows are very close together which is my only complaint. I thought the staff were very helpful in getting everyone inside and to their seats. They have concessions but we didn't buy anything. Nice to have this so close and not in Boston proper!

Kate H.

Yelp
Saw the Drag Queen Christmas show there and it was great! Not a huge venue so everyone can see what's happening on stage but I recommend the balcony! We were second row on the aisle on the right side and it was awesome! You could see perfectly. When the lights went down we moved to front row because no one was sitting there. Lisa and Kay working in the balcony were the best! Such nice ladies and it looked like they enjoyed their job which made for a more pleasant experience. They wouldn't let me tip them but I wanted to make sure I mentioned how great they were!

Chanda R.

Yelp
I like that there is a theatre near by that has well Known artists. It's small and intimate but worth it if you are in the area. Also the box office sells tickets which eliminates the additional online fees. A few things to note the second floor bar area gets really busy so make sure to get your drink First and then find your seat!

Kate C.

Yelp
I really didn't love the show or the venue, but this rating is about the venue. They took my water bottle when I was entering the venue, but then it was impossible to buy another one because the line for drinks was so long. The show started 20 minutes late though, so I guess we could have actually waited in line. The seats are very old with poor visibility. Considering how expensive the tickets were, I was surprised by the overall quality of the place. But the worst part? The other audience members. We were seeing a play and people kept leaving throughout the show. The couple infront of me was having a fight and kept taking their phone out. It was so distracting so I missed most of the show. And none of the ushers did anything to stop the nonsense!

John T.

Yelp
Seems like they've fixed a lot of their early woes. Lines getting in were reasonable. A/C was on & was nice for the whole 4 hr show. Seats were adequate. They didn't make you lock up your phones! I thought the venue was descent. It's old but a lot of places are.

Barbara A.

Yelp
My husband and I go to a lot of comedy shows, and some days you just don't feel like trudging to Boston and searching for a parking space and fighting crowds to sit in a cramped space. I like this venue and am glad when I see a show here. It takes us about the same amount of time to get to the location, but I find the parking less stressful. The other thing I like is that I have not had a bad seat in this house (granted I have not been waaaay up but have been in the balcony). Also, it is not as packed and cramped as some other Boston venues.

Esther W.

Yelp
I appreciate the big name talent that comes to this venue. I've seen The Temptations, Patti LaBelle, Michael Feinstein, Buddy Guy, Samantha Fish, Gladys Knight and others. Parking can be difficult to find but my friend always manages to find a free spot close by. Am looking forward to seeing Buddy Guy again at Chevalier Theatre for his farewell tour.

Yelp
Very disappointed experiencing theatre for first time tonight. Parking is a nightmare, followed signs as directed yet lots full ( 1 hr before show). Very disorganized in getting people into the building. .... Seating ..... we had balcony seats...... seemed endless getting to the balcony with many people needing to stop along the way... Could better prepare those who are physically challenged or out of shape. Now comes seating.... Small chairs not for the vertically or horizontally challenged. Only way I could even see performer was on the screen. Obviously orchestra area may have been quite enjoyable and I would recommend not even using the balcony for a show like Theresa Caputo where she does not stay on stage. Venue not responsible for audience and we were surrounded by annoying individuals who were up and down, on their phones, Can't imagine purchasing tickets for this venue again....

Caroline M.

Yelp
First off, website directs you to park by city hall. There are theater parking signs at entrances of the lot but after that you're left to wonder where to park as there are many signs saying permit holders only. It is about a 7 minute walk to the theater from there. Once at the theater, there is the typical cue for security. I had my bag open and ready, the person barely glanced in it and waived me along. One person in my group had the security guy quickly wave the wand over him. Once we got inside for the concert, we were greeted by a screaming usher herding us out of the theater and back into the hallway scolding us for not waiting, which we were unaware that we needed to? Usually, one stops at the top of the aisle to have an usher direct you, but ok? Seats are tight, floor is sloped but only slightly, if someone in front of you is taller your view will be obstructed. At times people started leaving their assigned seats freely going down to the front to be closer the stage, standing in the aisles blocking the first 8 rows or so. No attempt was made to keep the aisles clear for safety purposes. We attempted to go to the restroom between sets which is in the crowded lobby, merchandise area and exit, but gave up as it was so crowded. The entire evening felt like a giant safety hazard. The bands were great ( Toad the Wet Sprocket/ Gin Blossoms) but hopefully will choose a different venue on their next trip through Massachusetts!

Yelp
Went in 2019 to see the Comedy Bang Bang tour. While the show itself was great, I could barely enjoy it due to the venue. If it feels like it has all the amenities of a 1950s high school auditorium, it is because that is exactly what it is and has not been updated much since. Seats are small and uncomfortable. The exits are limited. Bathrooms are far. But I could have put up with all of that if it hadn't been for the temperature. The show was in august and there was no air conditioning. It was absolutely brutal. I left drenched in sweat. I was literally wiping it from my face to keep it from stinging my eyes. By the end of the show I was begging God for it to be done because I thought I might pass out. The space has potential, and I love what it brings to downtown Medford, but without an overhaul, it is a miserable place to see a show.

Yelp
Just went to the Chevalier for the first time to see Sal Volcano from the Impractical Jokers do stand up comedy. It's a nice theatre style room with a capacity of about 1800. The seats were comfortable, but narrow like most old theatre seats. Bathroom (mens room) was very narrow, but had a lot of urinals, stalls and sinks for its size. There was also an attendant on hand making sure things stayed clean. I did not goto the bar/concession stand mostly because the line was so long and always seems to move slow in places like this. Having a separate alcohol only line might speed things up for people looking for a snack or water. My main issue with the theatre is the event was advertised as MASKS REQUIRED and it was posted outside and in multiple places inside the theatre. There were ushers to help people find their seats, but much of the crowd removed their masks once seated and nothing was said to them by security or the ushers. I wore my mask, but sitting in such close quarters it would have been nice if other people did the same by choice or if the theatre staff enforces the posted rules. Parking is another big issue in this area. I don't know it will so there could be better options, but the theatre itself doesn't seem to have any public parking. We paid $30 to park in what basically seemed to be someone's driveway. It was easy in and out, but it was still a bummer for the theatre to offer no free parking options. I would go back to this spot for another event I was really interested in, but hopefully when that time comes masks will no longer be an issue. Thanks for reading!!

Yelp
Beautiful, old theatre that offers the elegance of a downtown Boston venue with the convenience of Medford Center. Knowledgable staff keep the crowd organized and the bar lines moving. Drinks are worth the price. Recommend seeing a show here.

Matt W.

Yelp
This is the worst case scenario for a venue. There's no subway to here, and driving to Medford from anywhere but Somerville is a nightmare. It's actually the old Medford High School theater--the seats are uncomfortable and the sight lines are awful. The sound booth is in the middle of the room and if you're at all behind it there are blinding lights coming off it. The sound and light techs don't seem to know what they are doing and there was constant feedback, or speakers in the show I saw were different levels, or the lights were wrong. I have never been to a worse venue, and I've been to theaters in South Dakota.

Flyguy G.

Yelp
The pitch of the room is so gradual that you can barely see over the head of the person sitting in front of you. It really detracts from the performance.

David M.

Yelp
While I thoroughly enjoyed the show I saw, I can only say the exact opposite about this venue. Parking is a joke, the city of Medford should be embarrassed. Seating is so narrow that pre teens will get bruised trying to squeeze into them. I even saw one broken chair that appeared to be fixed with a hanger. Acoustics are ok but not great. All in all I will never go to another show there. Even if Hendrix came back from the dead and I was given tickets.

Yelp
September 26, 2023 While highly anticipating the words and spirit of Jane Goodall (and more than delighted with her content), the production decisions and venue were both lacking. The event began 30 minutes late, for the apparent reason that merch was moving well. There was no reason provided nor updating announcement to the audience for the cause of the delay. The seating (1970 High School Auditorium style) was uncomfortable and the angle in the balcony too flat to get an unobstructed view of Ms. Goodall. It was nice that the air conditioning came on for a bit. With a hearing problem (and did not expect accommodation), Ms. Goodall is soft-spoken and the audio was consistent, but low. I only missed 25%. While there were two screens available on which to project Ms. Goodall while speaking, the organizers did not deem it necessary. Hence, the largest disappointment of the evening, I did not get to see her face. Would have been happy to have spent twice as much for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with reasonable accommodation. Now "one and done" with Chevalier.

Yelp
I went here to see Eddie Izzard. His show was incredible, as expected, but this venue is so awful I will never be back. Terrible sight lines, pushy staff herding you through the line; just an awful impersonal experience. The building is so old and sad. So much traffic and a nightmare to park. Done.

Stacey C.

Yelp
The improvements made at this theater over the years I've lived in Medford are many. It's comfortable and close to home, and they bring in an impressive array of acts. I'm always thrilled to learn about an act I'd like to see coming to the Chevalier!

Amanda H.

Yelp
We saw Celtic Thunder here last night, and while the artists were incredible, the overall experience at the venue was... just okay, bordering on highly uncomfortable. The seats in the balcony are wood with no cushion at all, and while portable cushions are available, you'd need three or four of them for them not to be completely flat within minutes. The seats are also fairly close together and if you're a bigger person yourself, or seated next to someone who is, there isn't a ton of room. We did sit in the seats on the orchestra level for a VIP event after the show and those were marginally better than the balcony. The sight line even in the front row of the balcony was suitable enough for me, but my mom, being several inches shorter than me, had to look between the rail and the top of the balcony in order to see most of the stage. There was a screen showing the stage, but who wants to pay that kind of money to watch a screen all night? Most of the staff was fine, but there was also an employee with a severe case of small man syndrome in the lobby before the show started who screamed at me for... standing unobtrusively in the lobby waiting for my mom while she was at the merch booth. Overall, I do not regret attending the show because the artists were fantastic, but I'd have to really want to see someone in order to buy tickets at this venue again.

Marie I.

Yelp
I'm only giving 1 star because I can't give 0. I can't believe a talented group like Celtic thunder had to sing in this venue. The acoustics made it difficult to understand what they were saying and singing. The venue says handicap accessible. Plan to wait in line for 1 elevator and be asphyxiated buy the bus fumes in Parking lot. Because of 1 elevator your likely to miss beginning of the show like we did. There is no parking for attendees on the parking lot and unless your there hours early limited street parking . The seating leaves a lot to be desired. Limited space. Bad sight lines. Luckily orchestra seats had monitor in back if I wanted to watch a monitor I would have watched at home. I don't understand why this is an acceptable venue. It does a disservice to the talent and those of us who paid good money to see the dhow. The venue ruined the total experience I will never go there again !!!!totally disgusted ! Ps I did like the group the were awesome it's the venue I hate!

Jackie H.

Yelp
If you are a normal sized or bigger sized person you will barely or not fit in the seats at this theater! Thank god I bought 2 tickets and my sister was too sick to join me - I was able to stretch one of my legs out into the area where she would have been sitting! Also prepare to pay $30 for parking in a private lot nearby unless you are lucky enough to find street parking on the tiny chaotic street outside. I was really looking forward to this show, now I'll spend the whole time distracted by how horribly uncomfortable I am!

Linda J.

Yelp
I was here for The Monkee's Show on Saturday 10/30/21. My only complaint is this, I was sitting in the second row, no seating in front of me. Just as the show started, they came over, dropped two folding chairs in front of us, now keep in mind, these chairs were a bit higher than the venue seating, and the tallest people in the place were dropped right there in front of us. I had trouble seeing the stage despite the location of the seating. Advise? if the venue seating is not in place, do not sell the tickets....that was not right....other than that, great show! Thank you

Chris C.

Yelp
Great idea in theory, but unfortunately a terrible venue. The seats are unbelievably cramped, especially if you are tall or wide. You will be on top of your neighbors, and will probably leave feeling some kind of soreness. There is no rise at all, so you'll spend a lot of time staring at the head in front of you. Bar is nothing special and there aren't enough bathrooms. Staff is helpful and polite, but it's hard to make up for all of these serious issues with the place.

Caitlin S.

Yelp
I've been here twice, once last night and once a few years ago, and both times it has been amateur hour. The parking and traffic is a nightmare. The venue is not set up for large acts and does not rise to the occasion. Last night the line to get in stretched down the street and around the block. We were hassled and yelled at by the clowns working security, including some schmuck wearing a trench coat and wired earpiece talking about the FBI, an old man kitted out in a bulletproof vest, and one single solitary dude checking IDs. It was sad, and more than sad, it was a little pathetic. We stood in line so long that the SHOW STARTED with over a hundred people still outside. Everyone wasn't seated until AT LEAST four or five songs in. Should the Chevalier comp the price of tickets for all the people who didn't get to see the entire show they paid for? Probably. What else...there is a small bar, but it would easily have been another 30 minute wait. The performer (Cat Power) was constantly gesturing to the sound booth to fix her monitor (not her fault, the sound was just bad). The ushers were a little unpleasant. It's unfortunate but I can't imagine seeing any more shows at this venue, it's just too much hassle.

Rocky W.

Yelp
I came here to watch Aziz Ansari perform on his Road to Nowhere Tour. I wasn't impressed by this venue at all. It's old, small, and clearly not made for the capacity that they're using it for. We showed up at 7:15 for our 7:30 show and waited in line for probably 30 minutes in freezing 30ish degree weather before we could get in. They check your IDs outside and give you a bracelet if you want to be able to purchase alcohol inside. The interior inside is very small, antiquated, outdated and they badly need to remodel or rebuild. Their lobby for drinks and snacks is a joke and was a chaotic jumbled mess and was simply too crowded to even try. When I finally arrived to the entrance of the auditorium, at the front, there was a station where every patron was required to turn in their phone so that it could be placed in a locked bag contraption so that we wouldn't be able to use our phones during the show at all and if we want to use our phone we would have to exit the room and ask them to unlock it. They mentioned this when buying the tickets but it was still really annoying I've never had other venues do this before. We sat in the balcony and our view was pretty terrible. We could barely see the head of the performers and only the back half of the stage and we paid nearly $80 each for these seats. The ushers here aren't great and are aggressive. The numbering and layout of the place is very confusing so they were barking everyone around and getting frustrated if you don't understand what they're saying the first time. Overall I really enjoyed the show, but the venue is absolutely horrendous and I definitely won't come watch any shows here anymore. After the show was over it took forever to get out since first everybody had to get their phone unlocked and second everybody had to get through their tiny front doors.

Brian M.

Yelp
For me, this all boils down to 2 challenges. 1a. Why, oh why, are there so few doors open for exiting at the end of a show? It's slow moving. Took us foreverrrrr to walk out of the venue, which it really felt unnecessary. There were closed EXIT doors everywhere but staff would not let people by/open them. 1b. The entrance was also pretty disorganized. So many lines: for concession, for swag table, for entry, and no one was there to direct people. 1c. Warning: DO NOT JUST JOIN THE LINE if you got tix online. You need to walk around the right side of the building for them. The only person walking the line and sharing information was someone from a "Drink App" for $2 your very expensive drink. 2. Somehow my friend paid $47 for 2 drinks. Ahem... Otherwise, I thought sound, lightning and overall seat comfort were just great. (Saw the Rachel Bloom show on Saturday. She was great, too!)

Andrew C.

Yelp
No frills theater. Balcony seating had a good viewing angle, the acoustics in the room was good. Upstairs bar wasn't too busy, but only time you'd get a drink is at the beginning of the show if the show doesn't have an intermission. Security check is outside before you get into the venue, so that part will suck if it's the weather is bad. The line did move fairly quick. There's no real designated parking, so nothing against the theater for that. You can find some street parking if you go early enough, but it's kind of a crap shoot.

Pamela P.

Yelp
Bought tickets for an event, and it was rescheduled for 5 months. Bought tickets for the new date and it was cancelled the day before. I'm starting to think the show was never going to happen in the first place and this was a scam.

Linda H.

Yelp
On Saturday my friends and I went to the Chevalier theater for a concert. We had to be there early for a meet and greet and had been there for a few hours. My friend and I were thirsty and in line to get some drinks and a snack. The bar tender was so rude , by yelling at us to back up ...because "we were about to give the bar tenders anxiety" If it bothers you when people are at the bar, waiting in line , your in the wrong profession hunny ! We were not being obnoxious. we were standing in line waiting for them To open. It was extremely rude and uncalled for. It's too bad because the ushers were amazing and very nice ! we had pretty awesome seats too! Ps can you at least refrigerate your $5 water ?

Cheryl S.

Yelp
Went to see David Spade at this theater last night and had the worst experience ever at a show. The show was delayed so that they could let in people who arrived almost a half an hour late, and then during the show there was absolutely no crowd control. People were getting up and moving around all through the theater, speaking loudly, and getting out of their seats to stand in the aisles. They have a no cell phone policy, and in order to enforce that, they shown lights, including strobe lights up and down the isles. People were forcibly removed from their seats, which only caused to disrupt the show further. I will never return, and I don't recommend it.

Jeff N.

Yelp
Well, this was a well-thought out idea that had no decent execution. I went to a comedy show here and was in the upper balcony. The seats were $60 with fees. I have been to many shows in many older venues in Worcester, Boston, and NYC. But this was the worst of them all. This is an old high school auditorium that was converted to a theatre. Except I don't think there was any renovation. The seats are hard. The air coordination is poor. The acoustics are poor in the back of the balcony. Even the flow of people into the building isn't well thought out. There is a lot of potential here, but the owners here need to put some thought into it, and some money too. I won't see another show here, no matter what great act he or she is.

Melissa O.

Yelp
I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to do so, because I'd read so many negative reviews of this place when I was contemplating going to a show here. I showed up bracing myself for the worst but ended up being pleasantly surprised! To address specifics - 1) that it's hot inside the theather. The show was in October but I dressed in light layers just in case and were totally comfortable. 2) speaking of comfort, yes the balcony chairs are hard wooden ones but we weren't bothered at all 3) the line outside. We arrived at about 7:45 for an 8:00 show and we were inside in just a couple of minutes. While we were in line, we were handed cards for the Noble app, which we could and did use to order drinks ahead and just pick them up. Great convenience! I think we paid $20ish for a beer and mixed drink. The ushers were super helpful and friendly in showing us to our seats. The balcony level is a hike so if stairs aren't your thing, sit down below, because that's where the bathrooms are. But there's a bar on each level. The acoustics seemed fine to us. We had no issues getting out after the show. Parking around there is rough - there was a lot next door that must not have opened until closer to the show because it wasn't open when I was looking for parking a couple of hours earlier. I'd ended up parking across the river and crossed the footbridge that lets out in front of Salvatore's, where we had a great dinner/drinks. In summary, it's not the Wang, so don't go expecting the Wang. It's a little old theater but the tickets were cheap and we made a fun night of it.

Erin C.

Yelp
Nope. I won't be tricked into coming here again. We went to see a podcast tour and while the show was amazing, the venue was not. We showed up at 7:15 for a 7:30 show thinking we could skip waiting in the line. It looked like they had just opened the doors and the line was wrapped around the building. It didn't take too long, but it seemed a little ridiculous. The space to buy drinks was so small that many people just went during the show. This resulted in people getting up and down throughout the entire night. This is fine, except there is ground floor has no slope to it, so anyone who gets up is walking directly in front of you. The seats weren't horrible, but my main complaint was that it was SO HOT. Apparently there is no a/c and at several points throughout the night I thought I was going to have to leave because I felt like overheating. I appreciate that the tours are trying to move outside of Boston occasionally, but this venue is not the right spot.

Joe B.

Yelp
This place is nightmare. Go to a theater in Boston! 1st, the show started 40 minutes late and they had people packed in the stairwell (with Covid rising) while we all baked and stood shoulder to shoulder. I am not a Covid "nut" but even that was just stupid. Then, they have a parking lot directly across the street they "do not own" and allow event parking for $30, they take your money and block you 10 cars deep without any way to exit. They never tell you they are screwing you out of leaving for an emergency. Money grubbing, no plan, and not very bright. Wait for the play to get to you usual Boston spot. This place is trash-- period

Lydia M. And Connie C.

Yelp
If it weren't for the talent this venue has, I would never go here. In fact, I've considered not going here even when I wanted to see a performance. First off, Chevalier Theater is stowed far enough away from Boston for it to be a hassle for anyone to get here. The only feasible way to get here is by car. After you wait in a seemingly endless line for the inefficient security check staff, you are greeted with the outdated, dingy interior that looks like a 1940's high school that's riddled with asbestos. I understand this building was a Boys & Girls Club, but they seemed to put very little to nothing into making the venue look even remotely inviting. The seating also needs to be revamped. There are 1900 seats--seats riddled with stains and must--and more than half have lackluster views. No incline and obstructed views everywhere. It makes me sad that brilliant performers will go to this venue to perform, as opposed to the charming Wilbur Theatre. But I get it. It just sucks to have an entertainment experience that doesn't run parallel with the place I'm experiencing it in.

David S.

Yelp
Love the theater, but the performing crew were amateurish and disorganized, sadly some of the Chavelier crew were as well. When I asked a young man (playing on his cell phone) at the a/v console if I had to change my dinner reservation a second time, and yes I was a bit upset, the crew member from the theater (I found out from someone else later) was dismissive. He did not tell me he was not part of the production, did not direct me to someone who could answer me, just said "don't give me attitude". Hardly good customer service, but I did interrupt him playing with his cell phone, so what could one expect.

Yelp
I bought tickets to The Golden Girls on June 5. Row E Center. the show is today. Got a confirmation e-mail. Yesterday I received an e-mail and phone all telling me my seats were unavailable. I could have row J (on the voice mail), or Row K (on the e-mail). Also a $20 credit per ticket. I called and spoke with he representative of Box Office. I told him I wanted to keep my tickets in Row C and would not like to exchange them. I had an e-mail confirming my unrefundable tickets. They said they never had the tickets to sell me. That they get their tickets two days before the event. So I really never owned the tickets. I accepted the change very reluctantly. This morning I received an e-mail telling me my new seats (Row K center) are unavailable. I can have Row C left. I need to speak with my sisters, but I no longer have any interest in this show. Rating 0. Looks like I have give give at least one star.

Yelp
We had a blast! There was 2 pay parking areas within feet of the entrance which made it real convenient. The place holds 1900 people so it was a relatively small venue which made viewing great! The seats are old wooden seats but they provide cushions for free for your butt and we're comfortable.. I'm a bigger dude, 220 and was comfortable for the 3 hours we were there. I'd definitely not think twice about going back! The parking lot fills up so you do have to wait for the guy in front of you to leave if you arrive early but we got out in about 5 or 6 minutes and we werre in the back so don't stress it. Oh yeah the acoustics were greatt!!! We saw Cheap Trick and unlike concerts when I was younger, the volume was perfect! Not too loud as you might think from a rock concert!!

Yelp
Worst theater in the greater Boston area. For anything. Keep in mind, this is a slightly-updated old school auditorium built in the era of FDR. It was not meant to act as a paid-theater venue. And everything about it shows. Parking? Forget about it. Arrive at least an hour ahead of a show to get any in the surrounding area, because it's few and far between. Lobby area? Mobbed by a tiny bar that can't handle the number of patrons who would like to purchase a beverage of any kind. Want water? They're going to open the bottle and poor it into a plastic cup. Talk about waste for the environment. And prices? They certainly believe they are a first-class venue in Boston, because they charge $16 for a glass of wine or beer. I waited about 20 minutes in line for some water. Bathrooms? Ha. You're funny. You expect a theater this size to have enough bathrooms for customers, right? Nope. Expect to wait at least 20 minutes to get into one. Ushers? The most rudest, awful people ever. In the middle of the opening act, when latecomers were still being seated, one of the ushers comes up to me and loudly asks to see my ticket. I completely lost the ability to focus on the act, because she didn't know how the numbering on the seat worked. She needed my ticket to understand whether I was on the high-number aisle, or the low-number aisle. She couldn't have asked one of the other ushers for this information? Or, you know, actually KNOW the theater she was working in? I mean, what's the point of an usher if you don't know what number the seats are on what aisle? You're just taking up room, flashing your WAY TOO BRIGHT flashlights in everyone's eyes. In short, this is a venue that clearly does not care about its customers. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a worse theater in the area. Even the Wilbur is slightly better, because it at least has parking nearby and tiny bit more of a lobby area. And its ushers aren't rude and ignorant. We will never go back to this place, no matter who is playing. The management needs a serious re-evaluation of how it runs this place.

Yelp
Once. And never again. Came for Aziz Ansari on 2/6/19. Everything the other critical reviews have stated is spot on. Do not disregard them as being "disgruntled" or in any way at fault for their experiences. Parking is nonexistent, so traffic 30-45 mins before the show is obscene. After finally finding street parking in a residential neighborhood (sorry, local residents!) and walking 10 mins back to the theatre, we arrived about 25 mins prior to showtime and found a line that stretched about 1/4 mile down the block, around the corner, into Medford Square. Are you kidding me?? 20 mins to get to the door. "Lobby" was puny and PACKED--as others have said, due to the bar being crammed in here. Add another 10 mins to get a beverage. We then get in a line to head upstairs to our orchestra seats...but that line barely moves because this theatre isn't big enough to handle Aziz' obnoxious requirement that guests lock cell phones in a bag for the show (not the theatre's fault, but the theatre is too small for this crap). Once finally upstairs, good luck with the ushers. There were two of them that I could see, everyone needed their help, and they had no idea where rows/seats were... the only purpose they served was for their flashlights--since we couldn't use our phones for that purpose! We finally got seated about 20 mins into the opening act, and the seats were horrible. Cramped...obstructed...don't trip on whatever those weird metal things are, sticking up from the floor in the row... To top it off, about halfway through Aziz' set, I think someone fell down the dangerous stairway we had to walk up--there was a loud scream, followed by someone shouting "CALL 911!", followed by about 15 minutes of highly distracting commotion. Again--this is circumstantial to my experience...but was exacerbated by the layout/size of the stairway. I don't care who plays at the Chevalier...I'll never return.

Yelp
Terrible experience. Parking in the area is very limited, so we took an Uber. The doors didn't open until 10:00, the time the show was supposed to start. The line to enter the venue stretched for blocks, continued onto the next street, and wrapped around a building. We waited in line the freezing cold until 10:30 before giving up and leaving altogether. We didn't even enter the venue or get to see the show. How is this acceptable?

Yelp
Highlight of the terribleness of this place: They clearly don't pay the lighting guy enough because there were TWO UNINTERRUPTED AWKWARD MINUTES WHERE THE SPOTLIGHT WAS POINTED DIRECTLY INTO THE CROWD -- AT ME -- AND I AM NOT PART OF THE SHOW! Came here last night to see Nick Offerman. He was great and took a lot of the issues without saying a word, including the awkward spotlight predicament. I'd like to also say that a lot of the reviews of this place are accurate: It's small, there's not much of an incline for the seats so it can be hard to see if anyone stands up in front of you, the seats are small, the lobby gets insanely busy, there's only two bathrooms (one per gender, which is entirely another issues -- no gender neutral bathrooms??), parking is a nightmare (or expensive with no warning on the website that it'll cost you $30!), and they only open the two rear exit doors at the end of the show and it gets very congested. That said, it seems like they fixed at least one of the issues that people complained about. The staff were friendly, including the ushers. Another WTF: they closed the bar during the show, but they also encouraged people to "plan ahead," which means that a ton of people were getting up in the middle of the show to go to the bathroom, which obstructed views intermittently, so it didn't actually cut down on people getting up during the show. I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
The Chevalier Theater is a nice little venue for live events. From the outside, it looks like a public administration building. Once you're inside, it looks like a school gymnasium. But the acoustics are good, the seating is comfortable for what it is, and it's a fairly easy in/out process. The staff seemed well-organized and kept lines moving quickly. But...the lobby is insanely small. It can get pretty cramped with all the people filtering in from outside, waiting in line for drinks, waiting in line for the men's and ladies' rooms, or clustering around the merch booth. There are also a lot of stairs, both from the outside up into the lobby, and from the lobby up to the seating levels. If you need help with accessible entrances or seating, it might be best to contact the venue before your visit so they can help. There isn't any parking at the theater itself, but there are a couple public parking lots within an easy walking distance at affordable rates. (Free after 6 p.m. on weeknights, 25¢ per 15 minutes before that.) I only had a seltzer water inside the theater, so I didn't pay much attention to their drink and snack menu. It seemed like the standard bar selection, though, nothing too substantial. But there are TONS of restaurants and cafes within a block or two of the theater if you want a full meal or coffee/dessert before your show.

Yelp
This is the worst venue I have ever been to. We had Balcony left row a seats 37-43. Those sound great, right? Well, they were on the side of the balcony and are set up so that the balcony itself blocks the view of the stage. I literally couldn't see the stage at all while sitting in my seat. To make matters worse, there was confusion over our seats when some late people arrived. The reason for the confusion was there weren't enough seats for the tickets they sold. Let me repeat that. They didn't have enough seats for the tickets they had sold. I missed part of the performance while ushers scrambled to find folding chairs for everyone. Even though they were sold together, seats 37-43 are not together. Seat 43 is across the aisle from the others. I ended up standing like a weirdo for the whole performance so I could see and be next to my wife and not with strangers. Also, 2 of the ladies in the group of late comers opted to share a folding chair instead of the seats they paid for so they could see. If you can't see from the 1st row of the balcony... Never again with this venue.

Yelp
It's no Wilbur or Wang, but my boyfriend and I saw Chris D'Elia here last week and had such a great time. All these years of living in Medford and going to the post office next door and I had no idea what this building even was! I couldn't believe when I looked up the location of the show to see it was a building I knew. So cool! The only issues I had were that there is no parking close by and the seats were pretty tiny. It felt really tight. Other than that, this place is great! For not expecting much, I was pleasantly surprised. The security and all the staff were so nice. The sound was great, and so was the view. We were only a few rows back from the first stage. It was such a fun show! I definitely plan to catch more stand-up comedy here.

Yelp
Was also there this weekend for the "Whose Live Is It Anyway?" show, and this is not a review of the show (which was great) but the venue itself, which was not. Located in Medford, there is no parking lot and everyone was finding street parking. This didn't end up a huge issue, but we walked several blocks to get to the theater. As others have said, it seems like an old HS Auditorium built in the 40's or 50's. I can't imagine the performers were thrilled to be there. There are several doors in the front to let people in via, but before the show there is a long metal fence that corrals people past a) the people who stamp your hand if you want to buy drinks, and b) the security people. Once past that, you can go in and we were only aware of the one bar immediately inside the entrance. The booze line was confusing (not sure how to "get in" and where the lines were being formed from) and slow to boot. Considering the age and condition of the place - hell, regardless - the drink prices were outrageous. $16 for a large Harpoon, $9-$12 for a small drink in a plastic cup, $24+ for a "large" drink. For the price of 2 large drinks, I could have paid for an entire bottle. $5 for a bottle of water. I think this place labors under the illusion that it is Fenway park. Or some venue that had been renovated sometime after the stone age. Getting up into the theater, as others have noticed, the seating is very old and the place was WARM. It was a cool night out, otherwise it would have been a serious distraction. Most of the show involved being able to hear the performers, and even though I was 6 rows from the stage, the sound was not good. As others have mentioned, although there are 6 double doors marked exit, only the 2 at the rear of the theater were opened at the end of the show, and it took a long time to empty, even though it's not actually that large of a place. I absolutely would not go back to this venue. I'd recommend, at least in the warmer months, opening an outside bar within the metal corral fences so there is less of a traffic jam inside the doors.

Yelp
Let's start with the positive...The men's room was clean. The entertainment, Gabriel (Fluffy) Iglesias was outstanding! The negative...The theatre is in the middle of a residential neighborhood on a two-lane road which was packed with traffic an hour before showtime. Even Mr. Iglesias commented on how the traffic made him late for his own show. Parking is very inadequate and over-priced at $30.00. The theatre, itself, is old and dingy. The seats are cramped. I'm not a big guy (5-foot-7, 170-pounds) and I was shoulder to shoulder with the people next to me. On the floor, in front of each seat is a round, black something that spins which is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Getting in and out of the building was like being part of a cattle herd. Should a fire break out, a lot of people will be trapped. Overall, at $200.00 for two seats, the over-priced parking, and $32.00 for two 10-ounce plastic cups of wine, we won't be returning.
