"Many East Bay locals were saddened to hear about the closure of Emeryville’s waterfront Chevys on Monday, April 22, and it seems that the restaurant got quite the sendoff. News blog the E’ville Eye reports that the location was hit by burglars on Sunday night — notably, the night before the restaurant was set to close — and that the target was the restaurant’s alcohol supply. This burglary was in addition to the multiple customers taking “souvenirs” from the restaurant in its last weeks, making for an interesting final day." - Dianne de Guzman

My sisters and I went to the Emeryville location on 7/16/23 @ 11 am. My older sister is allergic to avocado. The waiter put on his ticket no avocado. The cook still put avocado on her omelette. She was throwing up after one fork full. Manny the manager came over laughed and asked my sister if she wanted an alcoholic drink. He was making fun of her allergies. Now if she had to be hospitalized or died, would he continue to find her reaction to avocado funny? More things noticed about the place: 1. We had to get the manager just so we could get water at the table. 2. The floors were so slippery even the waiters had a problem walking. Manny the manager said he would get someone to clean it, as he was slipping. He never had the floor cleaned. 3. The women's bathroom is terrible. There are missing locks on the stall doors. No soap or tissue. My sister and I had to take turns using the one useful stall. 4. When we walked outside there was dog throw-up sitting in front of the door. My younger sister plans to return, but I cannot in good faith. Joel the manager was helpful, but Manny needs more training in empathy, because if my sister was sent to the hospital would laughing help a lawsuit? Lastly, some people do not like to mention their allergies due to all the new diets and such, and should not have to. If we ask for something to be left off the plate then just don't add it to the plate. It's unfortunate that location is a nice area, but management and corporate is letting it turn into a horrible establishment.

Went to celebrate the 36 yr Anniversary . Had the .36 cent tacos . They were so yummy. I had 3 carnitas and 3 chicken . Both were delicious 😋 . The chips and salsa was yummy too. Also had a frozen strawberry 🍓 Margarita. It was delicious too. Also the waiter was very helpful and fast . Great customer service 👏. Had a table by the window . With a great view of the water too. Will definitely be back again .

Stopped by to grab lunch. I got the chipotle chicken enchiladas w beans and rice. Also, a plate of Carne fries. The view from the pier out back was awesome. The food was good and the service was fast. It can get packed, so you may want to go early. The view from the patio is fantastic as well. Great for watching the sunsets!

Love the views from this restaurant. Perfect view of SF in the distance and the Golden Gate Bridge. Love the food. Happy hour is the best deals! They have amazing free chips and salsa! Could eat 3-4 servings myself! 1000% recommend the Flauntas!

This Chevys should be the best ever. With it's space and views, it is very disappointing to not be satisfied. The salsa has changed for the worse. It is now very soupy. The daiquiris we ordered were both bitter and not sweet. We did enjoyed the sampler platter. Our server was nice and helpful.

My recent visit to Chevys was, as usual, a wild ride. This restaurant chain holds a special place in my heart, as it does for so many others. The ambiance was fun and festive, and the service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and brought multiple refills of chips and salsa. The food was average (C for Chevy's) and, of course, very filling. The main downside was the parking lot - it was a complete mess, with tiny spaces that were difficult to get in and out of. Finally, it was disappointing that the table across from us received a huge birthday celebration from the waitstaff, but our birthday girl was overlooked and had a much more muted celebration from the team. Will we be back? You bet ya and can't wait! UPDATE 09/2023 (1 year later): As promised, we found ourselves back at Chevys, this time one year later. The roller coaster of fun seemingly never stopped and we hopped right back on. It has been said, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." And so I abashedly admit we attempted to park in the main lot only to be once again chewed up and spat out by the vortex of chaos that dwells outside the Fresh Mex front steps. Tip: Go directly to the back left parking lot and save yourself. In regards to food, no change. Server was A+ quality and overburdened by apparent staffing shortages, so service was quite slow. All the more time to enjoy the bay views and festive atmosphere! Chevys must have heard we were coming because this time our birthday girl got QUITE the celebration and they even brought back the free Chevys hat! Finally, we appreciated Chevys playing college women's soccer on the TVs - hat tipped to Chevy. See you next year!

Beautiful place to eat, that view is just amazing. It was so busy today but our waiter was so nice, trying to do everything right and on time, we definitely appreciated that, thank you, great customer service and the food is good P.S Clean and big bathrooms 👌

Google
If I could give zero stars, I would. This place was terrible, the only thing they have going for them is their location. I don't like leaving negative reviews but there is absolutely nothing positive to say about our experience. The food was salty and served to our table cold, no one came back to check on us so there was no one to tell. The quesabirria was soggy and falling apart. My carnitas tacos were cold, soggy and so salty I couldn't eat them. Ordered queso for an appetizer and was served melted processed cheese with some tomatoes thrown in. No one at our table finished their food and the server could have cared less, didn't even ask how the food was or come by long enough that we could tell them. Save your money, plenty of other better choices out there. We can't figure out how they stay in business. 👎

Yelp
Well they are closing so nothing really much to say. We had to wait to be seated on a Tuesday afternoon. Not really busy but pretty much expected since they are closing early mid April 2023. Our food was delicious and took leftovers which I ate the next day that was still good in my opinion. I did notice that a lot of the other items I love are actually on happy hour prices 3p to close on weekdays for sure not Friday but I could be wrong. Our main reason to visit this closing location was to support, eat, almost half way meeting point with my friend here and experience this location before it's gone. We went to the dock side or balcony area to look out to the water. They do have stairs that lead to a dock walk over the water and it's also a way to get to the parking lot from what I see. Didn't actually go down the stairs so I might to be correct about that too. When we tried to go in though the doors were locked and as we knocked the employee close by just looked away. Good thing the customers saw us knocking and waiting that seemed kind of long to wait for employees to let us in. We left and that was that.

Yelp
The end of an era! We stopped in Chevy's last night after we heard the news they were closing the Emeryville location come April. This iconic building right on the waterfront has housed so many memories for our friends/family over the years (and I'm sure many others). It was refreshing to see the building crowded with large parties, the bar bustling with post-work peeps, and the space so vibrant and alive. Our group ordered classic Chevy's menu items including margarita flights, table guacamole, shots all around, shrimp & crab enchiladas, chicken flautas, the chicken quesadilla, and of course, extra sides of the fresh-made flour tortillas and the sweet corn tomalito. It was so nostalgic going through the menu and recalling memory lane. Funny how a single dining establishment and certain foods can do that, but Chevys will always have a place in an east bay foodies heart! The staff mentioned the closure while we were signing the bill, chatting about the potential of transferring to other locations or finding new opportunities. FYI the closure will take place on April 22 (enough time to pour one out & enjoy one last comp basket of the chips/salsa that started it all!) The restaurant parking lot was pretty packed when we arrived, but there's additional parking when you turn right out of the lot. Thank you Chevy's for the good vibes! Fingers crossed something cool will replace your lease, offering brews and views!

Yelp
See how we barely touched our food? The trio dip came out cold. That's okay for the guacamole, but I dare younto find someone who likes cold queso and bean dip. You can see from the picture the glossy cold film on the queso. The Mexican Pizza was also not cooked hot enough. Maybe because they're rushing. My Cinco combo was another lukewarm disaster. I kept cutting into the food because the inside of the enchiladas and the chili relleno wasn't hot enough. It's like they rolled it, slapped it on a plate and just barely put it under a Broiler. Wish I could have showed you the disgusting runny beans and hard rice it came with, but we were busy complaining to our waitress. Did she do anything? No. But, that's how she was with everything from the napkins to getting water, she just didn't care to do any of it. Including getting the bill. Everything was like begging her to get things done. Chevys you're going downhill and will close if you continue to have this horrible quality and service.

Thomas B.

Yelp
This was returned visit for us, but this time I paid more attention to the quality of the food in the ambience. I was not disappointed in any of it. When you walk in, try and get yourself a seat by the window so you can look at the San Francisco Bay while you're having your dinner . It can be a little noisy in there, so be prepared for that with high ceilings and being very busy.. We were given menus orders were taken, and the food was delivered within a reasonable amount of time, so that was a good mark for them on their side . I pulled my favorite off the menu and everyone else ordered theirs and we always like to share our selection so we can compare to each other. For a big chain, I would say that this food had nice presentation. I appeal and good flavors reminiscent of Mexico. I will certainly come back here and eat again, though I'm not big into chain restaurants. This one seem to be quite a bit higher above the others.

Tiffany M.

Yelp
I'm not mad at this experience. I really had a nice lunch with my sister. 2 stars for food but to others star are for service and value. I tend to be disappointed with this chain however as of late my last two experiences at 2 different locations have been pretty good. I had the crispy shrimp fluntas and my sister a burrito plate. We both had house salads and me, a glass of wine. Although we waited, moved, and wasn't sure who was our server in the first 10 minutes at the establishment, in the end our server was attentive and friendly.

Yelp
A mere shell of the past. It has been fun to reminisce and relive the past. The location is shabby, it's dusty and the restrooms unclean. The benches are worn and the busy nature of the restaurant gave me pause as I came in for the last horrah. It's a sinking ship but staff cares. The kitchen manager quite on my last visit and the Bar manager stepped down. The word of Chevys closing has increased occupancy however the outdoor bar is pretty bad during peak hours. Staff tries to keep up but it's a sinking ship. Two weeks ago I heard the to go containers were on a truck but staff supplies container lids and foil wrap. So sad!

Mike D.

Yelp
Location closed months ago... I wonder why? Not surprised at all. It's best they did close. This was one of the worst dining experiences (on multiple occasions, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt) but things went from really bad to horrific. It's probably a good thing this abomination of a restaurant has closed. Sad, it was once a beautiful restaurant sitting right on the water. This is what happens when private equity buys everything only to exploit it to get every nickel and dime out of a business. Minus 5 stars. Corporate never responded to emails after posting original reviews. Not surprising. Private equity does not care. They are the destroyer of all things good.

Yelp
So unfortunately we came here last night and it was honestly the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. First the restroom was so disgusting doors didn't lock, toilet didn't flush because of too much toilet paper. Toilet paper falling off because it didn't lock in place. Paper towels falling out of the trash can because it was over flowing and there was literally Pooh around the rim of some of the toilet stalls. It was horrible I immediately told the manager and he just kept apologizing unbuttoned I don't even know if they did anything about it. The hostess told me they have their own restroom so I'm thinking it's very unlikely they fixed the issue. Second the food was just all wrong. We placed an order for food and waited 30 minutes to find out 1) what my husband ordered was completely wrong 2) my appetizer they ran out of and never informed me and 3) my food was just gross. Honestly I couldn't believe how horrible the service was. I asked for the manager twice on this trip which never happens and I literally asked for my check 6 times and it got to the point I had to go up to the bar and ask can I please pay my bill. The bartender and my waiter were literally arguing with one another about why my waiter was not allowed to use the bartenders registers! It was a hot mess. I will never come back here again unless they get NEW MANAGEMENT! This place is out of control and honestly it should be the next thing closed in Oakland/Emeryville area!

Jeremi W.

Yelp
Eh.... Me and my bestie came through last night for belated bday dinner for me. It was packed. As it was a Friday night, I knew this was understandable, however I was still hoping for a good experience. It took at least 10-15 minutes to get a server to come by our table with water and to say hello. After a while, I put in an order for a big daddy caddy margarita. It was so ungodly sweet!!! I couldn't drink it. My friend said the same thing, way too sweet and very low alcohol to be considered "big daddy" anything. She asked for an appetizer sampler platter with the corn dessert stuff. She got her platter but not her corn stuff. She also scarfed down the chips and salsa left for us and we were never offered any more. I actually asked for more but never got it. I ordered nachos with no cheese, they were pretty perfect. I imagine if I had gone on a Tuesday afternoon, it might've been better. But, can't count on it. There's a certain nostalgia to Chevys which is nice but the food/service quality has fallen so far off. I'd be surprised if they stayed open too much longer....

Leo C.

Yelp
Friendly service, food was definitely decent, well better than decent when compared to other chain restaurants, and you have a pretty awesome view. They also had a bottomless mimosa/bloody Mary special on the weekend. Problem is they were pretty clearly understaffed. Our poor server was running around trying to handle a large area and the bar staff was having issues keeping up with the bottomless drinks. Utensils were also dirty, had cheese baked on to my fork. Really want to like this place.

Nadia I.

Yelp
Chevy's is nostalgic, there aren't many of them left. This one sits on a beautiful waterfront location near the Emeryville marina and it has so much potential but unfortunately the service is terrible time and time again. This is true for both dine in and and carry out. The last few dine in experiences had slow or non existent service (to the tune of giving up and paying the bill up front and getting my own to go boxes even that is a nightmare). The last few take out experiences were also riddled with delays, mistakes, numerous items left out of the order, poorly packaged items, cold food, etc. I'm giving two stars because the location is amazing and the margaritas are still fun (though there are better places for the latter). Also, a manager was nice over the phone the time before last which is why I went back the very last time; but was ultimately disappointed again. I honestly kept going back hoping for something to change but in writing this review, I am accepting that my dreams of the Chevys I knew as a kid/teen are no more. I admit, I may go back again after a while, the flautas are still good, even kinda cold and without the sweet salsa they're come with (that they keep forgetting to give me).

Darlene B.

Yelp
They don't honor the Brunch Special if you want to place an order to go! No restrictions on the coupon stating this, but I guess they make up the rules as they go!

Greg T.

Yelp
As my accountant is in an office building literally a block away from here, I always visit there to drop off paperwork SPECIFICALLY so I can come here to eat lunch, haha! :-D This is easily the best Chevy's in the Bay Area, which is somewhat unfortunate as I live only 2 miles from another one which doesn't hold a candle to this one. This Chevy's restaurant is just like I remember from back in their heyday. A huge dining area with an equally large bar with the requisite sports channels on the big-screen TVs, this standalone building still has what it takes. The staff here is also just like I remember: Friendly, fast, and fun! They make sure I'm settled in with lots of chips & salsa before bringing out my order piping-hot from the kitchen. Since I drive here, I don't order any of their cocktails. But I'm actually thinking I might just Uber/Lyft it over here one time just to try them! The Soul of Chevy's lives on ... in Emeryville!

Yelp
We gathered for my friends mom birthday back in 2018, since then she has passed away 4 months ago. In honor of Mrs. Jackson legacy we met here to celebrate her birthday November 15th. We enjoyed remembering her as we ate, laughed, and took photos. Our waiter was very attentive, friendly, and accommodating. We loved our dishes as we wrapped up the night with a birthday cake. Thank u so much Chevy's. We had enough food to take home.

Nicole P.

Yelp
Good service and good food. Wasn't too busy and not too loud but they seemed to be short staffed. Always nice to enjoy your meal while overlooking the water.

Brenda R.

Yelp
We went to chevy's for my Deborah , my best friend and celebrated. Suggest for drinks was excellent. Service was great

Israel A.

Yelp
Daniel and Alfonso did an excellent job and serving me after suggestions. Great atmosphere, and the food was filling. Thanks again guys

Dani M.

Yelp
I haven't been here in years, and found out that this location will be closing down in April, so I stopped by for dinner on Monday with a friend for nostalgia. We arrived around 5:30pm and the parking lot and waiting lobby were surprisingly packed. Our wait time was around 45 minutes, and I assumed they're understaffed because they were only seating the bar area and a small section in the dining area. It was happy hour so we got the $4 queso dip which was literally water with chopped onions- bland. We also got the corn bites; I was expecting street corn but we got corn with sweet bbq sauce which was decent. I got the shrimp and crab enchiladas, which were also decent, however when I asked for a takeout container, our server said they're all out of everything. There seemed to only be one server for our section, and she did pretty well for having a whole section to herself. Not sure if they'll last until April, but I can see why they're closing now unfortunately.

Ciaira G.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying the view is beautiful. Very nice location that is so close from the highway, easy exit to get on and off of. I came here to kill sometime before my flight left out of the SF airport. I was not in a rush, however the service was so slow. We were immediately greeted as soon as we walked through the door. It went downhill from there. We waited about 7-10 minutes until I finally asked if we could get some waters. It gets worse.. the other tables around us that were seated after us got waters and chips and salsa before our table did. The server was kind and I do think they should have more staff to help out. I started off with the margarita flight, delicious! The chips were crispy and hot, salsa was fresh. I got the enchiladas with rice and beans. Not sure why I got an extra big portion, but I was not charged extra. I also ordered a side salad (which was huge). It was good and the ranch dressing tasted homemade. Big portions and I would have taken it home if it weren't for me going straight to the airport.

Liann A.

Yelp
They now have crispy shrimp flautas and quesabirria quesadillas! Chevys was an icon place growing up and going to happy hour or eating with friends. We made reservations for a Saturday at 12pm for a group of 6 adults and 3 kids. They were super busy and there was only one server for our whole area. Since we were there on the weekend we had the option to order from the brunch menu. We got the all you can drink mimosas and bloody Mary's. We started off with the crispy chicken flautas and the shrimp flautas. The shrimp flautas were a little more wet but we like the chicken flautas sauce. The quesabirria quesadillas were also good starters and of course the chips and salsa had to keep on coming. I got the shrimp and crab omelette, others got the shrimp and crab enchiladas, a salad, and fajita plates. We also got the deep fried ice cream for dessert and don't forget to mention if it's someone's birthday and they can sing and give you a birthday hat. Nice location in emeryville and glad to see that they're still in business. Parking is easy because there's a parking lot there, just don't leave anything in your car.

Myrnelle G.

Yelp
Service from Alfonso = 5 stars Food = 3 stars Place = 2 stars I am taking a moment to write this particular review because I think it's important to focus on the good. Often times we like to critique when things don't go our way. We like to poke fun at places and really warn people when to stay away. This time was a different experience. Yes, this place is a bit runned down and I think they should knock off the wall on the balcony to get more of the water view especially from the booths we were in, but what really stood out was the service. Alfonso was calm even though it seemed like he was the only server. He was friendly and courteous. During this visit my cousin and I were going through a very tough time and somehow he sensed it. He was just so attentive, but not overbearing. He actually shared that it was a slow day even though they had him running around! I wanted to take a moment to share that nothing would ever make me return more to a place than by receiving such outstanding service. Alfonso would be the reason here! (Oh and of course, chips and salsa).

Joanna M.

Yelp
Terrible customer service! Can't even finish strong! We decided to make a long drive before they closed their doors for good because this is where my husband and I had our first date and 15 years later we wanted to bring our 3 kids. Arrived at 7:15 and were turned away because they close in 45 minutes. Said it was a full house but I saw half the restaraunt empty. We were not the only party turned away and pissed off. No wonder they're closing their doors. Heard it's the same owner as Fairfield. Makes sense now. Spend your money where you're welcome

Maya R.

Yelp
I had an issue upon arrival and asked for a manager. The manager was Sara, who handled my issue with grace, understanding, and impeccable customer service. They have a valuable asset to their customer service and customer experience in her. Thank you Sara, you exemplified compassion and empathy in our interaction and retained the customer relationship based on how you handled me. I genuinely appreciate you. Chevy's you have a gem! Take care of her!

Michelle M.

Yelp
This place has always been a favorite of mine when visiting Emeryville. They're closing next month and honestly, you can tell. While the server was great, service was kind of off. Half of our table got our meals and the other half had to wait close to 10 mins for theirs. They were closed for lunch because they didn't have a cook, a were only opened 5-8pm. It's starting to get pretty run down inside. The ladies bathroom has some plumbing issues. The refried beans I ordered with my taco were runny and came in a bowl. It was like a bean soup. The shredded chicken was watery too but the taste was good. The fresh tortillas are always a hit and of course, the chips and salsa. I'm sorry to see this Chevys go. But I don't know how much longer they'd last if things continued on the way they were today. Not bad, but not great.

Alexis M.

Yelp
Solid spot for Taco Tuesday. I haven't been to Chevys since my childhood and it was so nostalgic coming back here. The location is prime right on the water. We were seated for happy hour and our waiter Jesus provided excellent service and goes above and beyond in his customers experience. They have great happy hour deals including lots of margarita options and build your own taco bar on Tuesday nights. Definitely try the jalapeño jelly and sweet corn. Can't wait for my next Happy hour here!

Danielle M.

Yelp
Wow. Haven't been here in years. Two separate managers checked in and our server checked on us too! The food was just as i remember growing up :) 12 dollar bottomless mimosas too! Seriously??? Yummy Ans the view was spectacular. Loved our time here after kids soccer. We will be back !

Karl A.

Yelp
This was a decent meal. The server team seemed stretched really thin. I think our server was running between tables and was never really catching up. From when we placed our order until it got out was a reasonable amount of time. My food looked (and tasted) like it had been under the heat lamp too long. The sauce on my tacos had a funny crust to it from the heat. The tacos were hearty, but they tasted like the ingredients went from frozen to overcooked. It took a long time to get our bill too. Hopefully they get more team members soon. The food was meh, the service was strained. Good thing the view of the water is as nice as it is!

Monica B.

Yelp
Slow service but excellent happy hour deals and most food pretty tasty! Nice bay views. FYI the cantina side of the house with booths doesn't do happy hour for some reason, go to the side on the right when you enter or tell the hostess you're there for happy hour. Taco Tuesday's - $3 tacos. Join their rewards program for free guacamole and a free entree on your bday!

Alexis M.

Yelp
Went here yesterday with a large group because we heard this location is closing soon. And honestly didn't think it would have been like this. I've been to chevys so many times and this was the worst experience. When we got there, we were told there was a long wait to be seated and that there was only one cook. We were all hungry so we decided to stay and wait. Once we were seated, that's when we found out there would be no chips and salsa. Major disappointment. Then the waiter also tells us there will be a long wait for the food. We still decided to stay. We did make it in time for happy hour so we decided to order a few things to hold us over. The one good thing was the taco bar, which were $3 per taco and once you ordered it and they give you a ticket you can go to the taco bar and that was nice. Besides that I ordered a chicken nacho and when it came out I guess it was an appetizer but it wasn't what I ordered. So they took it back and I got the nachos grande which is what I had originally ordered. When the food did come it was mediocre and was not how I remember the nachos being or any of the other food for that matter. Everything was high. Sodas $5. Should have been free since there weren't any complimentary chips and salsa

Marlon T.

Yelp
Chevy's Fresh Mex is a classic Mexican American chain with locations around Northern California. This location is near the Emeryville Marina with nice views of the water. My friends I have been coming here for years to celebrate birthdays and just to have a drink after rec. soccer games. The chips and salsa come out right away while you check out the menu. Usually people order a margarita here and they have an extensive margarita list. The fajitas are popular here also, I tend to order a bigger combo meal to share with my wife. They have lots of appetizer to choose from and recently we've enjoyed bringing our toddler for brunch to let him practice eating at restaurants. The food isn't super authentic so just show up with an open mind. You can't go wrong with a big margarita and chips w salsa!

Lisa L.

Yelp
Hardly no customers @ 12noon, got a window seat in bar area, got the tostada salad, shredded cheese was dry like a cheap generic brand & chicken was dry, just didn't taste good. My friend got Steak strips w/rice she enjoyed hers. Chips n salsa were good. Great service from hostess & staff. When we left it was packed w/people waiting outside for a table. Best to come early.

Danielle K.

Yelp
This spot is so cute and festive. I really wish they'd work on the service and wait time for food, drinks, and the bill. It took 20 minutes for someone to take our order. The food came out quickly enough, but then it took over 30 minutes after we were done eating to get someone to bring our bill. On Wednesday kids eat for $1, which includes a main dish, dessert, and a side. The bill came up full price, and did not include dessert. When we pointed this out, it was another 15 minutes to get the dessert, which was one slice of cheesecake rather than the two ice cream sundaes that were indicated on the menu. The bill was corrected, however their version of 20% tip does not match the correct math. Make sure to check your bill.

Marker K.

Yelp
Dirty and forlorn is the first impression. The windows were dirty. Our booth fabrics was ripped, and it had been that way for a long time. We both ordered margaritas, one was strawberry and the other was traditional. Way too much salt and too much tequila (although it tasted like rubbing alcohol. The food was salty and bland. Our side orders were wrong. Our server was a lumper. His lack of interest in being there was obvious

Tom B.

Yelp
Ending an exhausting and very trying day from leaving a memorial service we were hungry and this Chevys was the most convenient spot to eat. It was a Saturday at about 4pm. The place was hopping crowded, but not packed. We were seated, without a reservation, in five minutes of arriving. Bar seating was only available. Service was top notch and about the only good thing about the meal and atmosphere. I did notice, however, that the backup helpers were bringing orders to the wrong tables and creating a bit of a mess for the main server. We each ordered a 'House Margarita' and it was promptly served. We were a bit suspect in that it came in a marked 'Cadillac Margarita' glass, a price difference of $6. to $11.50 each, but we were charged $6. so I suppose the glass was what they had for the 'House Margarita'. Chips and salsa arrived quickly as well. The salsa, a dark rich looking variety, seemed good at first but lost its luster quickly. The chips were a mess, extremely greasy and not even fully cooked. One clump of several partially cooked chips stuck together was something I'd never seen before anywhere. I ordered the Three Amigos Combo (a taco with meat, shrimp and a chicken enchilada), and my dining companion got the Chipotle Chicken Enchiladas. Both meals were hearty, but the quality was quite lacking. My shrimp weren't bad and tasted OK, but the entire meal really missed the mark. Overall it was tasteless and lacked freshness and flavor. For the price we could have done better. Both of us felt a lump in our stomachs afterwards. The noise level was quite annoying and really made it difficult for any conversation without yelling. This location has been here many years and its age is really starting to show. It could definitely use a refresh. The waterside location is the one plus to coming here. I had been here once before, years ago, with some European guests who enjoyed it. I remember it being much better then. I've also eaten at several other Chevys locations over time and all were better than this experience.. Oh well, that's how it goes sometimes.

Yelp
With Chevys, there are always certain expectations. You know the food will be delicious, margaritas will be popping, but service can be questionable from location to location. EXCEPT, this location. You got the food, the margaritas, and banging service. All thanks to our man Freddy!! He was our server and he killed the game! Even though we came in near closing, he still greeted us with enthusiasm, checked in with us consistently to reassure our food and drinks were coming, and gave our table good recommendations. We love Freddy, Freddy is the man!

Yelp
Well, I came back. Mostly because I work right around the corner, and I do indeed love me some Chevy's. Reading this old review was like PTSD. First, I wanted to watch the Warrior game. They said there was a ~30 minute wait for a table for 1 in the cantina just to watch the game (!). They took over an hour to seat me, and when they did, they clearly didn't assign a server to me. Second, the "server" I got didn't know the menu, didn't know to bring me silverware and napkins, and there were all kinds of issues with the chips and salsa service. A total disaster. As I was about to make my escape from this place, I went to the restroom. There was a massive pile of puke in one sink. The toilets were filthy. There were no paper towels. It was terrible service all the way around. They clearly had some issues, but I didn't see a single person lead the team in any way. It was just madness and chaos. This all happened three weeks ago, and a friend wanted to meet me tonight and watch the game. I warned him. Yet another disaster. Does anyone at Chevy's care about how bad everything is run here? I cannot imagine a world where their kitchen is filthy too. Where is the manager? Why can't someone even find someone to complain to? Just the absolute nadir of food and beverage service. Oh and in both cases, they put us nowhere near a TV showing a Warrior game, so despite emphasizing the primary reason why we were there (to watch it), we missed both games. BOTH of ALL of them. Just a complete strikeout. My new company told me the other day that they sometimes get catering from Chevy's. Without a marked improvement, I'm shutting that down immediately. We don't need to make our customers and valuable employees sick, because due to the state of the rest of the restaurant, I can only assume the kitchen is just as unsanity. Ewww... 10 Ewwws out of 10.

Yelp
I stopped by for lunch on a Monday. I havent been to Chevy's in years. The service started off pretty slow. The waiter was really nice and attentive. The chips and salsa are always good. I ordered the crab and shrimp enchiladas they were so good. I also ordered a pina colada that was good as well. On Monday's they have free watermelon pops. They werent my cup of tea.

Yelp
Slight upgrade from my last visit. The food was good and the service met expectations. The server was fantastic, but the busboy left a bit to be desired. To start with he didn't speak a word of English which made communicating details impossible. Secondly he did everything he could to avoid eye contact when it came to getting refills on anything. I had the steak and shrimp combo. I ordered an appetizer cup of chicken tortilla soup. The steak was tasty, but the shrimp was sad. Tiny pieces of shrimp looking nothing like the menu. The rice tasted good, but wasn't especially fresh. It actually seemed like it might have been stored on the plate having hardened on the bottom in the shape of the plate. The chips and salsa tasted good. The chicken tortilla soup was not the best. The problem is, I have had the best so anything less taste like boring canned soup. The broth was extremely thin and the chicken chunks sort of random in shape, size, and texture. This was my first visit to Chevy's in many years. Sadly, I probably won't be back from any more years.

Yelp
Five stars. Nice service, great mojito, and delicious fajitas. My partner really enjoyed her crab and shrimp enchiladas. Excellent parking and superb view of the bay from our table. Really sad this location is closing in April.

Yelp
Ordered a Fajita Shirmp Steak Combo on Doordash. Initially I was upset they only gave me 3 tortillas. But that was just the beginning. This food was NOT worth $45. The 3 tortillas were stale and almost hard, the entree consisted of 6 slivers of steak and 8 shrimp. There was more onions and bell peppers than protein. I use to be able to share this meal, why am I still hungry? Oh and $5 for a spoonful of guacamole.

Yelp
Chevys is a great go to spot! I've enjoyed the food every time and the staff has always been friendly. This location is especially nice since it overlooks the water. I got the Tacos Vampiros with Carne Asada and these were amazing! Full of flavor, with a bit a heat, and the portion is super filling. The free chips and salsa are also great, so careful not to get too full before your dish comes out!

Yelp
I came here many years ago as a kid. Now as an adult I tried it out again but the only thing I really like are the drinks, tortillas and fajitas. Everything else is m'eh. Also we all got stomach issues the next morning. The place is cool, next to the water and the service was ok. Overall, I just wish they would revamp the menu.

Yelp
I ordered rice and beans to go. The rice was dried out and clumps of really hard rice pieces stuck together. I couldn't believe that this is what I received when I opened up my bag to eat it when I got home. I couldn't eat it I had to throw it away. I want my money back I spent money for rice and beans and I didn't get to have my rice and beans the beans were fine but I wanted the rice and beans together I didn't want beans by themselves. I want my money back

Yelp
Food is not good... I got a carne asada taco and chicken taco and honestly the carne asada tasted like anticucho which is cows heart lol. I asked the waitress and he said it was Carne asada but it looked weird. So I didn't eat it. The only good thing was the guacamole since they make it fresh but other than that I'm never coming again. It was my first time and last time.

Yelp
*This is a review of a visit about 2-3 weeks ago* Service and Staff: - No servers or staff were wearing masks - It took about 5 minutes to get seated, about 20 minutes to get noticed once we were seated, another 20 minutes to get our drinks and appetizers, and about 20 minutes to get someone to notice us so we could ask for utensils, plates, and napkins for our appetizers (this included asking one staff member who said okay and then never returned). The restaurant wasn't packed either (as seen from one of my photos) - Our server seemed to have been very overworked as he used taking our order as an opportunity to sit down next to me and take a break (I felt bad) - I saw a table across from us have to ask for a new glass because her dishes weren't clean Food: Food was mediocre. I grew up going to Chevy's, so I know the quality to expect. I typically enjoy the food, but it was hard to enjoy when we couldn't really eat our appetizers for 20 minutes, and then our dinner was so late due to the service. Miscellaneous: There's a parking lot out front with very small parking spots. We couldn't use a lot of the spots because people were parking in two spots due to the size. Overall, I was looking forward to the Chevy's experience again, but didn't get it here. I think they're just so understaffed right now, which is very unfortunate.

Yelp
When I heard that this restaurant was closing in April, I made a point of going one last time because I've always loved Chevy's, although I haven't been since before the pandemic. We arrived at 5pm. The parking lot was only 2/3s full and there were many empty tables but were told there was a half hour wait. Ok, whatever. We went for a walk and they texted us when our table was available. My first impression of the place was that it was dirty and run down. The front steps were filthy and black and the fabric on our booth was torn with chunks completely missing. They brought us chips and salsa right away but they were terrible and I used to love Chevy's chips and salsa. The chips tasted only of rancid frying oil. The salsa was warm and had an overwhelmingly smokey flavor that was just weird. It was at least 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order and at least half an hour to get our drinks - two house margaritas on the rocks. They were sickly sweet with hardly any tequila in them. Very disappointing. I ordered the green enchiladas, which always was my favorite. It was utterly bland with gristly chicken filling. The rice had little flavor and the black beans had an odd, weirdly sweet sauce. The whole dish was edible, but nothing more. It was probably another fifteen minutes before our server came by to ask it everything was ok. We said it was fine because what would be the point by that time. The section we were in had quite a few empty tables and the section next door was completely closed off. There were plenty of staff but many of them seemed to be wandering around aimlessly. When we paid our check and left, the line at the door had more than quadrupled from when we got there. There were at least three or four dozen people milling around and half the tables in the place still empty. WTF!

Yelp
We received such excellent customer service here at Chevys!William was our waiter, the sweetest! The manager, Manny and the manager Victor came to check on us. Manny recommended the shrimp flautas, which was excellent! I ordered the combo nachos! The food was delicious. We initially sat outside... beautiful view, but eventually we came back in because I got a little chilly. It was a wonderful experience will definitely be back.

Yelp
Very convenient from the Hilton Garden Inn, but not worth it. I can handle a chain restaurant for convenience, but this was rough. I was sat near the window, and my view was lovey (looking over the Bay at sunset). However, my table was quite sticky. No one approached me for 12 minutes. I asked for water and a margarita. Chips and salsa arrived at my table immediately, and it took another 5 minutes before my water or margarita arrived. When it arrived, it has a brown rotten lime in the rim. It was very bitter. Salsa was fine. Chips are badly fried... I ordered a Birria quesadilla, which was decent. The meat was succulent and it was in a shell of cheese. A sign informed me that if I registered for a rewards program, I could get a free bowl of guac. I love guac so of course I was in! The guac was..... waxy. It's hard to imagine, but it's the only way to describe it. I had one bite and could not bring myself to have anymore. I had a second margarita and it had almost no salt. I asked my server for an empty glass with a salt rim. She could not understand me and after 5 minutes sent someone out to wake me what I wanted. I waited a loooooong time to close my check. I had my credit card on the table for over 10 minutes but was never able to get my server's attention. Finally, she bring the check and despite the credit card being on the table, she dropped the bill and walked away. It took another 5 minutes before she came and ran my card. On the way out I stepped in something so sticky, it stopped me in my tracks, and my shoe stuck to the ground with every step the whole walk home. The convenience and the view do not make up for the service and the food.

Yelp
Pros: - the servers/staff were very friendly and polite - the drinks were good ( I had the watermelon candy shot and the Moscow mule ) - the restaurant itself was relatively clean - I got the carne Asada and cheese enchilada, which was really good in my opinion and the meat was cooked great Cons: - the restaurant was clearly understaffed with only 2 servers and a bartender on the floor - the wait time was 20 minutes - the only bad thing about my food specifically was that my rice was dried out and hard ( I loved the fried beans ) - I waited probably about 15 minutes for my first drink, which was the candy shot and personally think it should not take that long for a small drink
