The zoo was a fantastic place to take your family or friends to or both. My only issue with the zoo is that it's pretty high up. There is a lot of walking involved. I have a surgically repaired ankle & it was 100 degrees F. There were a lot water fountains & places you can fill your own water bottle up, which is great. They also have lots of electronic mister fans all over the zoo. Unfortunately after being there for 2 hours & not even seeing 50-60% of the attractions. I had to go because I was about to pass out. The water tasted good to me, which only happens when I'm very ill. We also had ice cream 10 minutes before we left, but I couldn't hold on any longer. The people working at the zoo were helpful when they told us the shortest way to our car. The Cheyenne Mountain zoo takes good care of it's customers, but through no fault of their own it was too much for my body to handle.

I come to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, a lot. Have gotten to watch a lot of babies be born, and grow up there. Actually memorized a lot of the animals names. It's an amazing zoo, from what I have seen they take amazing care of the animals there. The staff are always friendly, and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend visiting. I do enjoy the Denver Zoo as well, but this is my top favorite zoo I've been to, and will always continue to go and visit. I am currently in my second trimester of pregnancy, and am so excited to take my kid there once they're old enough.

Google
This review is super late but when Christmas time comes, go see the ZOO LIGHTS! They had a drone show last year and it was awesome! Worth every penny plus we were still able to feed the giraffes and see a bunch of animals. LOVE this zoo! 🦒🐘

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is an absolute gem! From the moment you arrive, you're greeted by friendly and helpful staff who clearly love what they do. The zoo is home to a diverse range of animals, all living in well-maintained environments that prioritize their well-being. One of the biggest highlights is the opportunity to feed the giraffes. It's an unforgettable experience to get up close and personal with these gentle giants. The zoo does an excellent job of educating visitors about the animals and their conservation. Overall, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo offers a fantastic day out for all ages. The combination of stunning views, well-cared-for animals, and exceptional staff makes it a must-visit destination. I highly recommend it!

Google
A beautiful zoo built into the side of the mountain with so many fun things to see and do. Prepare for a lot of walking as in any Zoo but this one will include uphill a lot more. Beautiful views and wonderful structures built for children to play in. Lots of free range animals too. I really appreciated the misting fans as it was hot the day we were there.

Google
Great zoo with tons of animal interaction. They have many animal petting & feeding opportunities. I recommend buying tickets in advance. We went on a Sunday and when pulling in, all signage stated they were sold on & you needed tickets to proceed. Note: Tickets are cheaper in the afternoon. Tickets are normally $20 after 1pm. One of the downsides of our visit was that the sky lift closes at 4:15pm. They also had an entire section under construction so we weren’t able to feed or see the giraffes or other animals on that part of the map. They also have a great selection of decent restaurants plus food and drink stands throughout the zoo but they are quite costly. Things to Know: - If you want to visit the Will Roger’s shrine, you must have zoo tickets and cannot walk there. - It’s free to park. - Sky lift is $5.

Google
This is a great sized zoo for a fun family day. For those worth mobility issues, there is a carry you can ride and get on and off at all the different locations. It's a good uphill walk. There are a lot of exhibits and animals to learn about. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The giraffe area was so much fun. I was very impressed and enjoyed it very much.

Google
Lovely experience! I was fascinated by how high up the zoo's location is!! You can see the beautiful views from up there! Also we got to feed the giraffes and all animals look very healthy and thriving. If coming during summer ☀️ make sure to apply sunscreen and if you're coming from low elevation places, you should stay very hydrated...(I visited from Texas). My favorite thing was to see the moose 🫎 and porcupine! It's my first time seeing these animals in person 😍 The sky ride was very cool too!

Yelp
The best zoo I have ever been to! The mountain is a beautiful landscape and there are amazing animals. I loved how the peacocks roamed about and certain areas were more free range for specific animals. My favorite was hand feeding the giraffes! The only things to be mindful of are you walk uphill a lot of the zoo so if that's a concern for you, plan ahead!

Yelp
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo: A Wildly Wonderful First Visit! I came for the giraffes, stayed for the pizza, and left wanting a membership. We visited for the first time on a Tuesday morning and it was phenomenal. The views alone are worth the trip--this zoo is nestled into the mountains like something out of a storybook. Every exhibit felt intentional and immersive, and the whole place was incredibly family-friendly. One person who made our day truly exceptional was Jay, our shuttle driver. Every time we stopped for a ride, Jay was there with a smile, helping us navigate hills and stroller logistics like a total pro. If you get Jay, consider your day upgraded. He was kind, patient, and somehow made shuttle rides feel like part of the adventure. Management: please recognize this guy--he's the kind of employee who turns a great visit into an unforgettable one. We had lunch at Pizza With a View and--no exaggeration--it was delicious. Great food, stunning scenery, and a perfect midday break. Feeding the giraffes was surreal. Getting that close to those gentle giants was one of the coolest experiences I've had. And the carousel? So fast and so fun I briefly questioned whether we were riding actual unicorns. This was the best zoo experience we've had in ages, and we can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Well taken care of zoo - it almost didn't feel like a zoo. It was an animal experience. Bougie style enclosures and very well set up. Clean enclosures and overall so cool. Lots of animal demos to learn and see them. Lots of steep walking, optional to purchase a bus ride that can be used all day up and down the property. Can't say enough how awesome this place is and how well it is taken care of and the animals.

Yelp
Beautiful well kept Zoo!!! The staff here really care about the animals and there well-being. There are tons of opportunities to pet all sorts of animals like penguins, kangaroos, birds, and more! There are plenty of areas for kids to play which is great for families. There are water fountain refill stations all throughout the zoo. Parking was easy just make sure to get there early in the am and you will be okay. Reservations are required so make sure to book your tickets in advanced. Highly recommend to anyone!

Yelp
We love this zoo. The giraffe and elephant feeding experiences were so much fun. Well worth it. It is amazing how close you are to the animals. The view of Colorado Springs is beautiful. The was a lot of construction so main zoo shop was shutdown. That was a little sad.

Yelp
What a fun zoo to visit! It's located on the side of the mountains so be prepared to walk up and down hills! This is a smaller zoo but with a good variety of animals that appear to be well taken care of. Enclosures were clean and the larger animals had lots of enrichment activities in them. We loved the view of Colorado Springs from the many different lookout points along the way. It was warm when we arrived (Father's Day) but later in the afternoon the clouds and cooler air blew in and we actually ended up getting wet. They have a few great restaurants to eat at, we chose The Grizzley Grill because they had a large variety of food including pizzas, tenders, salads, burgers, etc. The food was all fresh to order and everything was great. Fun experience if in the area.

Yelp
Such a beautiful zoo in a beautiful and unique setting. To start, even though it is at a high elevation with hills up and down, everything was completely accessible. My MIL uses a scooter and didn't have to miss out on a thing. I like to visit zoos in every city I visit and I have to say this is the best I've ever been to for so many reasons. The staff is fantastic and interactive. The exhibits are so natural and beautiful. And the opportunity to feed the giraffes was incredible. I'm hoping to go back during the summer to feed the elephants and rhinos. And possibly one of the biggest perks has to be the food and coffee shop, which I'll review separately, but they were both places I would visit on a routine basis. Not your normal zoo food. If you are anywhere near the Zoo, it's a must see.

Yelp
This is a beautiful zoo and, in many ways, might deserve more stars. However, they've made some very questionable decisions that start things off on the wrong foot. First, they require reservations AND timed tickets. That simply makes it hard to plan a visit. I can understand it for some days/times, but it's stupid to demand that ALL THE TIME. Second, they are so rigidly adamant about the EXACT times on those reservations that they actually create congestion. Our tickets were for 0900. We arrived at 0840 (because it's hard to plan exactly how long it will take you to drive completely across the city). Even though they were virtually empty at that point, they would not let any 0900 tickets in even a second early. So, you had the ridiculous situation of a whole arc of people (probably 50-80) standing around in an arc waiting until they could approach the ticket windows where workers sat COMPLETELY IDLE. It felt like nothing so much as waiting at an airport for your seating zone to be called -- and that's no one's idea of fun. Third, they changed the sky ride to make it effectively useless. You used to be able to take the sky ride to the farthest (and highest) part of the zoo and then walk down all the way to the entrance. So, we immediately paid (extra) to take the sky ride up. However, now the sky ride is a ride to nowhere and nothing. It takes you to a small area up the hill but they've now cut that area off from the rest of the zoo so you can't walk ANYWHERE. You must take the sky ride back down to where you started. Had we known this before buying skyride tickets, we would have skipped it and, perhaps, purchased tram tickets instead.

Yelp
Wow! I love my Conservator memebership! Some friends and I dropped in at 9 am in June and I think we saw every single animal! It was a relatively cool day (for a Colorado summer) and we spent 4 hours walking around! After that, we had lunch at Panino's Westside. It was a great day all around! Thank you, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo!
google avatar

Yelp
Very unique zoo on the side of a mountain and also the only zoo I been to that you can get so close to the animals!

Yelp
Bought tickets online. There were more people than I thought but I guess some schools are on spring break. Parked and walked up to get our tickets scanned. They have construction right now so the main entrance is closed off. There are signs along the way from the parking lot to let visitors know what to do to gain entry. After the ticket is scanned, they stamp your hand and give you tokens to put into the donation tableau by the alternate entry. You can support the animals you love by placing the tokens into the specific section. The associate at the entry checks your hand stamp and away you go. It's a little bit of an uphill walk in so wear comfortable shoes. You can pay $3 to ride in the golf cart they drive around. The smaller gift shop is right by the side entrance and there are restrooms as well which are handy. We went into the penguin and hippo enclosure. The penguins are so cute. They come out into a low fenced area and are quite close. I'm glad the child near me who wanted to touch them had his dad tell him not to. Didn't want them spooked and run inside. Hippos were swimming too. So fun! Primates next as he had been waiting to see them. The exhibit had naked mole rats at the entrance. They were funny, scrambling around their habitat. The emperor tamarin with his whiskers was my favorite. He did come closer to peer at us which was fun. Then I saw a gorilla eating lettuce. Just chomping away, not bothered by the people. The orang utan were resting and only perked up when they heard the zoo keeper unlock the main door. We were in time to feed the elephant if we wanted to but I didn't feel like spending the $10. We did watch the people feeding him. It was a cool morning so we went into their enclosure and saw two elephants working with trainers. I did buy lettuce to feed the giraffes and that was fun. They curl their tongues around the lettuce and end up licking your hand. This is getting long so I'll just say that there are so many animals to see and a lot of walking to do. And enough restrooms scattered around that you are quite comfortable. The only thing is that it's sad to see the animals locked up. He didn't like it. Neither did I. But I spent the money and also purchased food to help contribute to their care. Hopefully it helps some.

Such a nice Zoo! Highly recommend the Skyline lift tour! The giraffe feeding experience is so much fun.

Yelp
Loved this zoo didn't get to cover even half of the zoo but I can't wait to go back and see other half. Brought our 5 yr old toddler and so glad I brought a stroller it's an uphill hike for a kiddo and adults. I really love that every section has a thoughtful play area for kids. The penguin area had a rope bridge and climbing rocks and steps that kids loved. Was amazed by the giraffe feeding area - that was so fun and right atop it is a fun hill that all the kids loved to run up and roll down. Just an amazing zoo and drive up. Plan and book ahead.

Yelp
INCREDIBLE! honeyly the best zoo i've ever been to, the enclosures were all so spacious with lots of shade. And all the animals were super super close. the giraffes and the tiger were all so close! It was very intimate. and the food in the food hall! wow! everything was made right in front of you, we got pizza and garlic knots and a mediterranean salad. best garlic knots i've ever had. so so yummy! the only downside to some people maybe be there's a lot of incline walking. but i'm an athlete so i enjoyed getting the movement, and there were fans blowing mist everywhere which made the heat bearable
google avatar

Yelp
Worth visiting if you're not Colorado, saw some cool animals that I wouldn't normally see in my local California Zoos! Be prepared to walk up steep hills, bring lots of water, some sort of hat/shade and walking shoes. Elevation is high, low oxygen. We came early in the morning, took about 3 hours to complete with a 2 year old. There is an area with some turf and real grass for kiddos to run around and take a lunch break.

Yelp
This was almost a perfect zoo In my opinion.. feeding the giraffes, beautiful views, well kept exhibits, one of the giraffes was freaken skipping!! (So cute!!) It was such a fun time! ONLY THING, I felt like something was off with monkeys.. their exhibits were not as nice, when compared to the other animals and the monkeys seemed sad.. Just sitting by the glass with blank starres. Hurt my heart a bit because I just felt like they deserve more.. Other than that, it was a fun adventure!

Yelp
My weekend plans started off waylaid but three young gentlemen came to my rescue. That being said to reward them I planned a surprise trip for them to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Luckily I had a friend who I was talking to about my plans said I needed to buy advance tickets and thank god, literally, he did. As when we made the 90 minute trek to the zoo there were signs all over saying tickets sold out. On top of that the zoo closed at 5pm and we had time slots for 1:30. That only gave us 3.5 hours at the zoo. Definitely not enough time. We may have seen maybe 1/3 of the zoo exhibits. The zoo itself is a great workout to get steps in that's for sure. The employees of the zoo were very pleasant and glad that they gave a military discount. When We were leaving and the shuttle driver offered us a ride to the exit.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome zoo! You walk in and can feed the giraffes right away. There's lots of great animals and lots of opportunity to feed them and get really close. If you're in COS you don't wanna miss out!

Yelp
Wonderful Zoo!! I have been to so many zoos in the US and while the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is not the biggest it is a nice size, almost all the animals were out and active. Beautiful habitats, I loved seeing all the "young jr. interns" there helping the zoo. It's probably the perfect size it was a nice 2.5 hours to stroll through the zoo. There are a lot of hills, the altitude is about 6k feet so if you have breathing difficulties you can pay $3.00 per person to ride in a golf cart too.

Yelp
Everyone, including my wife, raves about this zoo. They're open rain and shine, they say advanced timed tickets are required, and there are no cancellations. We bought our tickets in advance, but then we're regretting our decision as it's raining and then snowing, yes SNOWING, on our way to the zoo on Mother's Day. Well, no refunds, so I guess we're going to the zoo in the snow. Lo and behold, the precipitation stops, and the skies begin to clear as we pull into the lot. There are already a lot more people at the zoo than we're expecting. As it turns out, we had a decent day at the zoo. The giraffe area is the star of the show, and seeing a moose was cool too, although I was more impressed with him than he was with me. I was a little disappointed a few other areas seemed to be without animals, or maybe they just weren't out today. The layout of the zoo is a bit odd, as there seem to be some dead ends that require doubling back from where you came. Shouldn't zoos just be a loop? Apparently not this one. I think we saw most everything, except we never found the bears. Not getting a zoo map may have led to some misdirections as well. Come to think of it, I didn't see anyone with zoo maps. Is that no longer a thing? They had maps posted throughout, and there were QR codes, which didn't seem to work due to questionable internet service. Parking is free, and the ability to drive up the hill and check out the shrine was neat too. It was chilly and windy up there, but the views were still fantastic. I'm sure we'll be back on a nicer day and maybe we'll see more when we're there.

Yelp
Where I live, we have no admission fee to access the Zoo. Once I heard there was a fee, I knew this Zoo was going to be great. First, you must book online and reserve a day and time. The slots fill fast. I think this is great because it helps with overcrowding (an issue we have at our free zoo at home). We got lucky and found a parking spot close to the front. Our other party had a spot not too far away. We gave our online order info and purchased the skyride at the gate (it's $1 cheaper) and headed in. The park was easy to navigate as it was a big circle. Lots of animals to see and feeding available (for a small fee).

Yelp
I took my whole family to the zoo on 7-15-25. I knew the zoo would be a hike, so I had to have a scooter to explore. My husband needs both knees replaced, he needed a scooter. AFTER paying for admission, I get up to gift shop and they only had 1 scooter left, out of three!!!!!! Three scooters for the whole Zoo?!?!? WHY GO? Went back to our car and sat and waited for the rest of our group! COMPLETELY DISSAPPOINTE!!
google avatar

Richard D.

Yelp
Wow this is probably the best zoo I have been to. They have more unique animals and they have a good amount of hands on activities and you can pet and brush some of the animals! Do the ski lift ride to the top and back down. Fun zoo
google avatar

Yelp
The Cheyenne mountain Zoo is absolutely amazing. You feel up close and personal with the animals. They offered a special event where you can bring your furry friends. All dogs were well behaved and everyone had a wonderful time. Highly recommend bringing your family and friends.

Yelp
I'm 47 and I will always want to go to the zoo or an aquarium! We're visiting from NC and we have a wonderful zoo ourselves in Asheboro. However, The Cheyenne Mountain zoo gets you so up close and personal with the animals that this is my new favorite!

Yelp
This is the best zoo ever! I've been coming here since I was a kid and it was great to experience it with others for the first time! My favpart will always be feeding the Giraffes! You get to be close to them and thier tongues are wild! We got to see all the animals expect the monekys but it was such a fun time! We ate pizza there and honestly for being a zoo the pizza was amazing! You can also have a beer and enjoy the beautiful views! Being on top of a mountain you can see the whole city! I highly recommend coming here but be prepared this is one hill so lots of incline when walking but they offer a shuttle to most areas.

Yelp
This zoo is stuck in 2020! Nice small zoo but not worth the hassle. We drove down from Denver hoping for a nice day at the zoo. We unfortunately learned time entry is required and when we got there at 1130 they were "sold out" until 3. They do not "open" up more slots when people inevitably don't show for their assigned time. Although this zoo is okay if you are from out of town I don't recommend the trouble. Also, there were people who showed up and said the website wasn't working the night before so they could reserve a time. They too were turned away until 3 pm. Times entry for a small zoo post COVID is very dumb and servers no purpose. Edit: changed to one star after reading Rachel's tone deaf, out of touch excuses. Many people reserve times and never show up because plans change and yet their slot goes unused. The zoo does not open up slots as people no show. Finally, regardless of time slots everyone going through the zoo follows the same small path. It will always be crowded no matter if they have time slots or not.

Yelp
I believe that this ZOO is a little gem..not sure (yet) to 100%, though! Yesterday, I have been there for my first time. First of all, only the drive way to the zoo brings !phenomenal views! There is ample of parking, the advanced tickets come in handy, for there was obviously not much wait time to stand in line to enter the zoo. At the entrance, you'll encounter a gift shop, helpful zoo rangers, gorgeous giraffes greeting you at the very beginning and a shop where you can rent scooters! - What is very convenient! And surely comes in handy for people with disabilities, slower seniors or folks who have issues with walking all the way up the steep mountain hill. The down side I have experienced: If you go there in the afternoons, scooters most probably will be gone/sold out to visitors who entered their premises in the early mornings.. Now, you can hop into a shuttle bus instead for only !$3! And get transported up and down to your desire. What is a delight! Downside: this shuttle will not specifically wait only for You - It is simply a convenience for anyone who wants to be transported to the next exhibitions in a public bus. But know that the moment you leave the bus, you'll walk... Until the next exhibition/zoo ranger will come along (about all 15-20Minutes) where you can hop in the next bus and continue your journey. And so on and so forth ! Again, I have been there only once for 1-1.5 hours simply to go and check out this gorgeous zoological park. I am planning to visit this place many more times to get the right impression and to enjoy all the bells and whistles in there!

Yelp
Time to give my full honest opinion on this zoo. So we drove up thinking it was like a regular zoo that you pay and walk in but there was signs asking "did you get your tickets in advance?". Instantly I freaked out... I've been to many different zoo's in various states but never heard of this. So the next time to get tickets was at 3pm. I was sad I wanted to go earlier since we would be doing nothing for 2 1/2 hours. We bought the tickets either way and accidentally got four instead of two. Freaking out because it says no refunds also our bank said this payment was taken out three times. We go to the zoo to see why the other payments were taken out and the front desk was so helpful! She actually gave us a full refund and asked if we'd like to purchase tickets to enter at an earlier time. Inside the zoo be prepared to WALK and be out of breath if you aren't used to the elevation. We had a great experience and got up so close to many animals! We even rode a sky ride which had a beautiful view of the city. Overall our experience was through the roof. Customer service was extremely helpful. Feeding the animals was so fun and I got to pet a giraffe. I love this zoo and would probably say as of now this has been my favorite zoo I've visited. Warning: MAKE SURE TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER!!!
google avatar

Yelp
My friends and family love this zoo! They are very accommodating for disabilities. The animals seem well cared for and the staff are very knowledgeable. We've been mainly going for the Christmas Lights in December but cannot wait to visit in the summer!

Yelp
If your in the Colorado Springs area might be a good idea to swing by and visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Nice Zoo sitting on top of the mountain. Plenty of animals to look at. Even got to interact with the giraffes by feeding them some lettuce they have you purchase for $5 for a bundle. Great staff and there to help you with any questions. A lot of walking which you are able to get on golf carts to take you around but if you love to walk and don't mind might be best so you can go anywhere where the golf carts don't fit. Overall a great place definitely a great zoo.

Yelp
We learned from the "salty" woman at the ticket booth that "everything in Colorado Springs need reservations." Despite the initial attitude, she sold us the last tickets of the day. We paid $74.25 for 2 adults and 1 child ticket. We had an amazingly fun day. We will visit again next time we are in town, but will remember the reservations! The zoo is about a quarter the size of our San Diego Zoo, but the exhibits were fantastic. The mountaineous back drop was also quite beautiful. We loved how close you can get to the wallabies and that most of the animals were out and about. The best part of this zoo is the raised walkway at the giraffe enclosure. The walkway allowed you to be at eye level with the giraffes. You can also purchase a bundle of lettuce for either $3 or $5 to feed them then pet them. Inexpensive for such an experience. Pathways in the zoo didn't loop around. The way you went to see an exhibit, is the same way you get out. Some walkways were narrower so some parts felt cramped. We also thought the signage around the park could have been more prominent and clear.
google avatar

Rick S.

Yelp
The best zoo, love it. You can easily see everything without using the overhead lift but it does make it more convenient.

Yelp
Have been to this zoo multiple times, and keep finding reasons to come back. This last time, it was because I couldn't pass up the opportunity to bring my dog with me. When I first heard about dog days, I knew I had to bring my dog. It was great to be able to experience the zoo with her. Although she seemed to be more interested in the other dogs than the zoo animals. Nonetheless, we had a great time and the zoo is always a pleasure to visit.

Yelp
I had not been to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in probably 20 years before this visit. My family goes to the Denver Zoo all the time, but this was a first visit for my kids. They absolutely loved all of the animal interaction opportunities. We fed giraffes, elephants, and chickens. And we even got to brush goats. There were lots of things to get kids engaged there and it was really a great visit.

Yelp
Let mw preface by writing that the views from this zoo are amazing. With that being written, there is a lot of uphill walking. The patch's are roomy and paved but it can be a for littles and those not use to a lot of walking. Our favorite enclosures were the Hippos, we saw at least three of them. They were very active and playful. We also enjoyed watching the Otter, and feeding the Parakeets. The down side of this zoo was seeing some of the animals in very small enclosures. The orangutan, looked totally defeated and in such a super small space. The Silverbacks have a little more space but their inside habitats were grossly overrun with feces. There is no way it was one days worth of excrements. The mountain lions also seemed to have a very small space, compared to the wolves. I would say the highlight of the visit was the cute penguins, the hippos, and the two toed sloth with her 4 month old baby. Now, I realize not all zoos are the same. We have been to so many. It's on of the sites we visit when on vacation. I have also been so plenty of them overseas. We just feel so terrible for the animals when they have a small enclosure but I guess not every zoo can be The World Famous San Diego Zoo or the Wild Animal Park. Would we go again to Cheyenne Zoo? It's not very likely. It's a one time visit type of place, for my family.

Yelp
They oversell tickets and until someone leaves you cannot get in at the time of your ticket. Huge line to get to parking. The flow of the zoo is very disconnected and signage where things are at is poor. Lots of large hills to get from one place to another. Bring your own water or water bottle as they don't have much in concessions. Cars were constantly driving through the main walkway. Quite dangerous. Animals are in very small pens. Pretty sad.

Yelp
Had such a blast on this excursion! Bestie and I went made our reservation for 1300 and we're in the gate by 1330 as stated necessary on the website. We were advised to ride the gondola up, then walk down the zoo from the gondola. Unfortunately, we rode up and then we were informed that we cannot walk down the zoo, but instead take the gondola back down and then explore the zoo. God ola ride still worth the $5. In honesty, this zoo doesn't have tons of animals and it doesn't have lots of kid excursions, but the animal exhibits that they do have are phenomenal and the animals to view are extremely well kept. Most importantly, the scenic mountain views make it the most unique zoo experience that I've been to.

Yelp
Me and my wife love to travel and experience as many Zoos as possible! When we came to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo... we loved every moment! All the animals were out and very active ! Now the only thing I could say was a tiny bit frustrating is there is not a flow to the zoo! It's always a dead end when looking at some animals and you have to back track to go back but that was the only thing I could needed improvement! 10/10 recommend! We also came back at night to see all the Christmas lights they had out around that time and it was very worth it !

Yelp
Amazing zoo! This place is incredible- from up close and personal encounters with animals to friendly and knowledgeable staff - we will definitely be returning! Feeding an elephant and the giraffes was the highlight! Such a cool experience and so fun for kids! All of the other animals were quite active in their enclosures which was neat to see. The tiger spent lots of time by the glass and the mountain lions and grizzly bears were walking all around...maybe waiting for feeding time? We'd never been to a zoo and seen so many active animals. There is a big kids play area too - so if you have little ones that need an open space to run keep your eye out for that area. As others have mentioned, there are some inclines as you walk around so be prepared! The facilities are nice and clean with several easy to find restrooms and plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Yelp
I'm a zoo person but I wasn't impressed with this one. For starters it was way too crowded. I know it was a Saturday but why reserve time slots if it doesn't help crowd control. We did the giraffe feeding which was $3 for lettuce or $5 for two piles of lettuce. The area was crowded and they didn't clear the giraffe area in the inside in one spot which prevented the giraffes from coming close to get fed. The zoo is more on the spread out side so we were just confused just walking all around: I didn't see any petting zoo. Matter of fact didn't see much animals there to be honest. We spent probably no more than an hour and 15 minutes there and left.

Yelp
It has been 11 years since we've visited and this experience did not disappoint!! We knew it was uphill and prepared with snacks and drinks on hand. The food trucks and cafes were all open as well. We loved watching the lions getting fed, they were adorable! My daughter said she didn't realize how big they are in real life. I am so happy she got to see them! While the wolves were at the doctor, which are her favorite animal, the cougars and snow leopards were out. She was definitely not upset, so fun!! I say pay the money and go! Make a fun family day (you might want to rent the scooter though! It's a bit of a huffer and puffer chugging up the hills!) and drink lots of water. OH! There are water refill station if you bring your own water bottle, super convenient.

Yelp
This is hands-down, the best zoo in the United States! I personally think it puts Omaha & San Diego to shame. The zookeepers are all so extremely friendly. The junior zookeepers in the loft were so knowledgeable, I appreciated their time and expertise. My favorite part was the Rocky Mountain wild and the grizzly bears. But you just can't help but love the elephants and giraffes and the moose and the beavers.

Yelp
My husband and I visited on a winter weekday afternoon. Due to the weather and day of the week it was pretty quiet and the perfect time to visit. Almost all of the animals were active and it was really cool to see some of the mountain dwelling animals in their snowy natural habitats. The animals looked great and it appears like they are well taken care of. Many of them were taken from other zoos and the bald eagle is unable to fly, making life in captivity necessary. The layout of this zoo is amazing. They used the natural landscape of Cheyenne Mountain to create different levels. This allowed for large spaces for the animals and an impressive number of animals for the area. When you arrive take a note of the feeding times and be sure to watch a few. Watching a lynx "hunt" and then eat its chicken dinner was really awesome.

Yelp
Such a fun spot! I loved that you can feed/pet some of the animals. I would suggest packing water and snacks(especially if you have kids), but there is a cute coffee shop in there for a little pick me up. There is a lot of uphill walking so be prepared. I'd definitely go again with friends or kids, it's a place for everyone.

Yelp
Been here a couple times over the past 2 years. Lots of walking and all up hill. You are on a mountain! Be prepared to walk. And work your muscles. Staff is great! The animals are amazing. Great views! Yes, it's pricey but they got to pay for the land and staff and animals. They are doing a lot of remodeling so once that is finished, from what it sounds like, it's going to look great.

Yelp
Love this place! I came here on my birthday and specifically to see the giraffes. It definitely did not disappoint. I had the best day at this zoo! A couple things I think it's important for you to know. This is a pretty large zoo so you will be doing a lot of walking. It's on the side of a mountain so a lot of it is uphill/downhill. Also, you will need more time than you think. We went at 2 PM thinking the three hours would be plenty but we only made it halfway through the zoo and then started getting forced out and had to really quickly look at the rest of the animals. We should have picked 12 or earlier.

Yelp
I would give it 10 stars if I could. We have been to many many Zoos across the nation and this ranks as our top 3. Why? It's on a mountain and such a range of diverseness. Animals, habitats, signage, restaurants, sky ride (4.00 per person) unlimited and shuttle service (small cost per person). It was reasonable cost for the sky ride and shuttle service with a one time cost but you got to use it all day. The sky ride was a treat with a great arial view and a place to sit and rest with the cool breeze. The shuttle service was great to the ride to the top so you can walk down and do it again for the other side. The gift shop was lacking with needs of the guest like sun hats for adults. Let's talk about the wonderful animals and zookeepers and all those involved. They are so healthy and seem content. The way the enclosures were appropriate with a twist was fantastic. (reptiles). Again the information involved really made us think and reflect. If we are every in the area again we will be back and plan to share with others. KUDOS to all!
