The 19 Best Restaurants in Seychelles | Eater

"Set on Takamaka beach in southwest Mahé, Chez Batista makes for one of the island’s more rustic outdoor dining experiences with thatched roofing and sand-covered floors. While the restaurant does serve a la carte lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, come for the popular Creole buffet on Sundays between 1 and 3 p.m. when locals and tourists rub elbows over a crash course in Seychellois Creole cuisine. Expect a hodgepodge of curries (fish, bat, you name it), grilled fish and meats, chutneys (shark, papaya, salted fish), rougail saucisse (sausage in tomato sauce), and a few desserts such as la daube banane (banana or plantain cooked in spiced coconut milk). Come with an insatiable appetite because you’ll need it. Once you’ve had your fill, grab a SeyBrew, stumble down onto the breathtaking beach just below the deck, and lie down until it’s time to eat again." - Steven Rioux

Beautiful spot to spend vacation: sandy beach, stunning sunsets 😍, clean swimming pool. It is a quiet place, not very crowded. The restaurant had a great ocean view, the seafood salad 🥗 is a must try! So tasty! There's a small place for the big tortoises. On Sundays there's a Creole buffet with live music. There was plenty of food and it was really tasty 😋. You can also rent a car from the hotel.

The location is amazing and the view from the rooms with a balcony quasi direct on the beach are amazing. Just for that, I would go again. BUT! - Cleanliness was... adequate, not more. - we had only one armchair in our room for two (and it was so HUGE that no second one could have fit in) - we had only one soft drink glass in our room for 2 (of course we asked for, and got, another one, no big deal, but it shows carelessness) - the fridge broke down and it was hard work to convince them to replace it (after they "tried" to repair it twice) - reception is usually empty. Once you know where the computer room with air-con is, no problem, you know where to knock to get help, but it takes a few days to get it ;) - for reasons known only to them, they took my key away. Twice. You are advised to ALWAYS leave your key at the reception desk when you leave, and then... you come back and have to wait while they locate your key. And yes, of course, the cleaning staff have their own key, so it wasn't that. - the restaurant is good, the staff in the restaurant are very friendly and helpful, but the prices are really high. Well, the portions are generous, so I guess that point is not too bad. So, all in all, a nice place which is not-so-professionally run. We didn't mind all that much, and would recommend the place anyway, but at 195e per night (the sea-front rooms / there are cheaper ones), we would have appreciated more professionalism.

We recently stayed at this hotel and had a thoroughly disappointing experience. The location is indeed amazing, with a beautiful and clean public beach right at its doorstep. However, that's where the positives end. Unfortunately, the staff were consistently rude and unhelpful throughout our stay. We were charged extra for our daughter, despite paying for a room that supposedly accommodated her. To add insult to injury, a coconut fell on our car and shattered the windshield, and the hotel staff showed zero concern, claiming it was our responsibility to park in a safe location. Furthermore, the hotel's WiFi was virtually nonexistent, only available in public areas and not in the rooms. It's clear that the hotel is more interested in taking money from tourists than providing even basic facilities. But what really took the cake was the reception area, which was consistently unmanned. The staff only seemed to appear when it was time to check in and collect payment. If you needed assistance with anything else, forget it. We found ourselves waiting for ages for someone to show up, only to be met with indifference and a lack of concern. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. While the location is fantastic, the hotel itself is overpriced, understaffed, and utterly uninterested in providing a decent experience for its guests.

Fantastic location although coral in the bay is very bleached out-some interesting fish. Hotel rather try elsewhere- staff very rude/stressed/whatever-not going to give you that happy feeling. Having to eat that breakfast more than once risks medical complications. Environmental abomination of a Tourist tortoise pen .

Some years ago this hotel became our dream to visit and the reality exceeds our expectations. To be objective, we had the best room in the hotel. Senior apartment with sea view. This was really a paradise for us. Greta balcony with view over the ocean. Seats and even deckchairs on it. The sunset from this balcony is amazing. The room was huge, really perfect clean as well as the bathroom. The beds are comfortable with hard mattresses. Just the piloves could be softer. but there was a choise of 2 types. The room is absolutely without mosquitos ( on Sunday the hotel staff did a pest care). The breakfast is with amazing view over the sea and beach as well. The cook fresh eggs (omellets, scrambled, ...). They have fresh fruit juice, pancakes and fresh fruit even with bananas. Great! Directly near the hotel are the big turtles. They are friendly and they love neck rubbing. Don't be scare, but be quite! The pool is small, but useful. The view on the Takamaka beach is wonderfull. I've read many bad reviews. But most of them for the restaurant. (We were satisfied with the restaurant as well. The prices are higher, but sit directly over the sea and beach, so it is perfect as well!) The only thing is the Sunday buffet . Many locals comes to this hotel, celebrate birthday. So the swimming pool is full, the restaurant is full. The parking is full nerly to the main road. They play live and loud music. But it has atmosphere. We were 4 nights in this hotel. If we will come again, we will visit this hotel again. It is a real paradise.

Beautiful beach of Takamaka .. Things to note include it is quite isolated, there is no supermarket close by even to buy water! And bring snacks! Or rent a car for sure it’s the best bet|Staff are fine, they live on site however the operational hours are all very strange. Dinner last orders are at 7pm and there are no other restaurants close by. On Sundays the last order is 530pm!! Crazy|Overall, south of the island is the place to be, and less crowded so if you want to chill out and relax, come here. Else beau vallon is more touristy with more things to do!

My husband and I stayed at Villa Chez Batista for the start of his 60th 3 week birthday trip. This lovely place is nestled away on the most beautiful beach with granite boulders encasing it. Just what you imagine the Seychelles to be like. Breath taking.|We stayed in the new building in a clean comfortable room with great air con. It was great. Our check in and greeting was warm and professional.|The breakfast offering was good ( included ) and we ate dinner at the restaurant also. The food was amazing with substantial portions.... good value for money. The beach is wonderful but the waves could be strong but that did not stop us from enjoying it. You can really relax here. There are stones and rocks on the seafloor so swim shoes are a must.|The staff are amazing we really enjoyed our 4 night stay.|Very very good for the price point.
