"For a taste of Senegal, Chez Dior delivers. This relative newcomer opened nine years ago and features traditional dishes such as grilled and marinated tilapia, known as caldou, and yassa chicken, a succulent bird served with caramelized onions and mustard." - Mekita Rivas, Tim Ebner

"This off-the-grid Senegalese restaurant offers beignets as a finisher to their extensive menu. France’s influence on Senegal is evident across many of Chez Dior’s offerings, but their beignets stray from the traditional French style. They’re smaller, crispier, and at five per order, worth investigating ($4.99)." - Abi Newhouse

I was super excited to discover yet another great Senegalese restaurant 🇸🇳 in the DMV area! Safe to say that Chez Dior is a hidden gem… The food was authentic and beautifully plated. The mom and pop restaurant hit the mark with all of the usual dishes that you would expect to find at a Senegalese restaurant. Everything was well seasoned, fresh and tasty. The service was a little slow, and a few of the items that were ordered were never brought to the table - it wasn’t at all a busy time, so likely they just forgot to bring it to the table. Overall those I had a great time and would definitely visit again.

Google
The food was good nothing out of the extraordinary. There is plenty of parking on the street. They have one table outside if you decide to sunbathe and eat simultaneously. But otherwise the inside is nice and cool. I was not a fan of the nems with meat in it thought they had a funny taste but the vegetarian one was much better!! And the meat for the rice was tough. But the drinks were very nice 👍🏾

Google
This is hands down the BEST Senegalese restaurant in the ENTIRE DMV area! All the way to Baltimore! Clean, soooo tasty, authentic, with a diverse menu and 4 different tchep (red with fish, white with fish, red with lamb, red with chicken) which is so rare and even the incredible Tchere/Senegalese couscous, which I think Chez Dior is the only Senegalese restaurant offering this on their menu! Yum! Love it! If you haven’t yet tried this restaurant, do it NOW lol!

Ordered the Dibi and this is NOT DIBI. They give you four very small lamb chops for $24. Will not be ordering from this place again.

Google
Good food, no questions about it but place could be perhaps a little cleaner (especially bathroom area). Music from TV should be turned down as mbalax beats can be loud. I was here this month (October 2023) and this review is based on that. I had been here 10 years prior and things were much better.

Google
Excellent for my first time with Senegalese food. I tried the Thiebou Diene, a dish of herb-stuffed white grouper, broken rice, and vegetables stewed in a flavorful red sauce. There was a potent heat and strong savory fish flavor that permeates the entire dish and separates it from run of the mill jollof rice. I loved their Attieke piment sauce which has a fruity habanero/scotch bonnet flavor and powerful heat. To cool the heat, I had some sweet Bissap (hibiscus) tea.

Nice cute restaurant! The food was very neat, and the flavor was wonderful. The customer service was fantastic! I can't wait to go back to try more dishes.

Visited this place with a small group of friends for the first time tonight. Great service. Our waiter was kind. I got the lamb with Plaintains as a side and also the beignets. I wish the menu had prices lol. But I found the amount of food to be very reasonably priced. Most of the people I was with were able to have leftovers. The lamb was okay but the Plaintains were absolutely amazing (lamb needed more sauce, not just on the side). I would go back just for those! The beignets were really good as well (more like puff puff though?). Im particular about soda and I liked that they had fanta orange (which is my favorite). They had ginger ale and other cultural drinks too (ginger root drink). A small place but it was cozy and unique. [I also tasted the cassava leaves and that was good too].

Yelp
Delicious Senegalese restaurant with amazing service. Staff was very sweet and helped us either recommendations for our first time trying Senegalese food. Definitely recommend the jollof rice! We also got the dumplings which were so tasty. Warm, crunchy outside, soft and stretchy interior! Will definitely come back:)

Yelp
Absolutely amazing spot! I heard of it from an Uber driving and it's been on my list for a year now. It's very small and quant but the food and service is amazing! Walking in, it feels and smells like a true Senegalese home and the worker was so kind.

Yelp
Oh yeah, babe! *Emeril Lagasse voice* I loved everything about the food and the service. I had this place bookmarked for years and finally got the chance to try it as I was in the area for an appt. I called in an order for mafe (peanut stew) and thieboudienne (Senegal version of jollof w/ fish). I loveeed their peanut stew. It was rich and the meat was actually chunks of goat meat, along with some root vegetables, rather than random pieces of tough goat offal other places will throw in their peanut stew. Because there was actual tender meat in it, it was well worth the $20+ price tag. The rice accompanying the thieboudienne was delicious! It's very different from a Nigerian and Ghanian jollof as this version used broken rice instead of whole grains, and it's cooked for so long that the flavor totally permeates the rice. I could taste notes of dried fish in the rice-- so, so good! My favorite thing is that the service was FAST! I called in my order and it was ready about 20 mins later. Next time I'm in the area, I'm going back!

Yelp
Maaaaaann listen.... This food is as good as it looks and then some. Came here on the recommendation of a colleague. He and I were supposed to get barbecue from a nearby spot which happened to be "closed for the new year", so this phenomenal Senegalese restaurant turned out to be Plan B. My buddy is a fellow foodie and from Guinea, West Africa, so he knows his African food. Since most cultures on the motherland continent fight over whose Jollof rice is "the best", I wasn't aware that Senegal is where it was (actually) invented. The food here is well seasoned and unctuous. I had the lollipop lamb chops & Jollof. My buddy had okra stew and rice. He doesn't even like okra and neither do I but I tasted a little bit of his stew and I was impressed.... As was he obviously since he ordered it. Add ginger beer with fresh pineapple for a refreshing and pretty spicy drink. I had to tone mine down with some bottled water because the ginger was gingering - heavily. Service is a bit on the slow side but everything is prepared delicately so I don't mind waiting. We were the only ones in the restaurant until a couple of the tables got filled. Quiet ambiance. Definitely a good spot. I'll happily come back to this place.

Yelp
Eight of us decided to have dinner here after learning my nephew's wife had never had this type of amazing food. So we literally ordered 7 dinners and all of the apps, juices and the dessert. Yes, we had a feast and it was a wonderful experience! She enjoyed everything but her favorite was the cassava dish, the fish; and peanut stew. The owners weren't there but the young lady who served us was professional and provided great service. The young man who cooked did a really good job as well. The flavors in each dish were enjoyable but the owners wife who generally cooks seasons the food a bit more. Regardless it was a great time for my family and everyone left full and happy! I look forward to returning soon and encourage you to give this place a try if you haven't yet. They don't disappoint! It's small but always clean and food is served timely, hot and fresh. Sorry I didn't get any pictures. My crew was excited and hungry so the food was demolished.

Yelp
First time at this Senegalese restaurant. I'm Cameroonian so I got the Ndole and plantains. For me it was a 7/10 it tasted very watered down with way too much peanuts and you can barely taste the bitter leaves nor spinach. They also burnt my plantains but were very understanding when I asked for a new one. Overall, the servers are understanding and willing to help. They have several boots and tables for dine in.

Brittney S.

Yelp
Giving Chez Dior 1 star because while the food was ok, the rest of the experience was pretty bad. We were hungry, so decided to sit and eat there. The gentleman serving us was pleasant, but he was on the phone the entire time we were placing our order. The menu also had no prices, which I've never seen before. We were the only customers there at the time and there was no music on, so we could pretty much hear everything in the kitchen. Someone was doing a lot of sneezing and coughing. NOT the sounds you want to hear from the area where your food is being prepared. I was tempted to leave at that point, but my friend was set on having Senegalese food today. I decided I'd say a good prayer and eat. I had the chicken yassa which was ok, and my friend had jollof and goat which he said was really good and tender.

Tiffany E.

Yelp
One of the best Jollof Rice you can get in DMV, hands down! This place is truly a hole in the wall! As a fellow Salone Titi and Ghanaian girly, I tap my hat off to their Senegalese jollof rice. They are the true originators, so you don't want to miss getting this meal.

Rose K.

Yelp
Stopped in late on a Tuesday night craving delicious African food. I am so thankful this was one of the few places open late enough for me to pick up from. I got the meat brochettes and plantain + Bissap to go and immediately wanted take a bite with how good the food smelled. If you're in the area PLEASE stop in. Food was 11/10 and the bissap reminded me of the one they make back home. I can't wait to return to this restaurant !

Love A.

Yelp
Disappointed - I order from this establishment regularly - literally weekly. I'm not sure what's going on but in the last month the service has started to slip drastically. Each time the packaging is worst and the quantity/quality of the food is declining. For the amount they are charging this should not be the case.

Craig D.

Yelp
(4) ~ very good overall food & service. Note: This is Senegalese Cuisine & there is a small parking lot in the back. DRINKS: ** Pain De Singe (baobab juice) = (4.25) Very good * Cafe Touba = (3.75) Coffee w. Unique Spice FOOD: ** Dibi = (4.25) Very tasty & a popular street food in Senegal ** Attieke (cassava side) = (4.25) Very good, similar texture as cous cous. Really like the Hot sauce that came with it;) ** Thiarkry (dessert) = (4.25) Very good, kinda like rice pudding;) *** AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: 1.) Bring water to the tables & make sure it's filtered 2.) Check in on the table from time to time to see if people need anything... 3.) Lastly include Pricing on the menu

Yelp
I really wanted to love my first Senegalese restaurant after returning from Dakar. But, Chez Dior didn't really hold up for me. The restaurant is pretty small and there was hardly anyone inside on a Friday night. I tried the traditional dish which has rice bits and fish with veggies and a sauce. I was pretty underwhelmed by the food experience overall. The customer service was pretty good overall. Its hard to review a place with such great potential. But, ill keep trying to find something similar to my culinary experience in Dakar.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Food: This was my first time having Senegalese food so I asked Julio for recommendations and he recommended jollof rice so that's why I got! It was tomato mixed rice + vegetables (cabbage, carrot, plantain, eggplant) + 2 chicken drumsticks. The chicken was SOO good - I would order just the chicken. It comes with a lot of rice so it fills you up and could feed me for two meals. Next time, I want to try the yassa chicken and thiebou diene. Service/Drinks: Shoutout to Julio for the best service! While I was waiting for my food, he let me try their house-made drinks and they were AMAZING. The hibiscus mint is my favorite and the baobab juice is also SO good. The ginger juice is very ginger-y so get this if you REALLY like ginger. They also have Senegal coffee! Parking: they have a few parking spaces behind the restaurant (next to vigilante). If you park here, you can enter through the back door of the restaurant.

Cynthia P.

Yelp
Great tasting food! Had the meat skewers with fried plantains and the meat was very well seasoned. A little spicy. Restaurant wasn't very busy on Saturday night so service was very good as well, food was ready quickly. Highly recommend. Right around the corner from Vigilante coffee.

Sophia S.

Yelp
I recommend this place to everyone. They have a very nice turkey. I bought it last year.

Charlene C.

Yelp
We both enjoyed the Yassa chicken and Tiebou Yapp at this hole in the wall restaurant. The only thing I didn't enjoy was sweating during my time there. The temperature was probably close to 80 or 80° inside. They both came with mounds of rice, a meat and a small portion of their extremely spicy sauce. The Yassa chicken was tender, but I wish they had better quality knives so it was easier to cut the chicken off the bone. I liked the large serving of the lemon flavored sauteed onions and small pieces of mixed vegetables. The Tiebou Yapp's fried rice was seasoned broken sticky rice. My partner liked it but thought the meat was a little dry. It still made for a tasty dish when mixing all the different food components together with the spicy sauce. Also tried a side of plantains. They were a bit too oily. Wished they cooked them a little bit more so they had more crispy edges. The Bissap (Hibiscus) drink was a very sweet drink. It tasted like a concentrated grape juice. Wouldn't get this again. Overall, had good Senegalese meals here and would come here again.

Yelp
I remember having amazing fried fish from here maybe 8-9 years ago, good enough for me to probably have made 2 or 3 trips to pick it up. After years of a hiatus, im back today for peanut soup- maafe! Never had it before, it wasnt bad, maybe not my cup of tea but i could tell it was well made for what it is supposed to be. And the lamb was tender and delicious in it. The sauce was just a bit more 'funky' than i was expecting.. maybe used with fish sauce too? But the nems appetizer and bissap drink were delicious absolutely. Wait for food wasnt long and waiter was friendly. Im still coming back, maybe stick with apps and fish dishes- id like to try the thieboudienne next!!

Ajaratu A.

Yelp
I ordered the okra soup and it was not good, I asked to make it spicy, there was little to no pepper. The okra soup was paste like. I would not recommend the okra but the jollof rice and the attieke was good!

Dee M.

Yelp
I ordered the thiebou bou yapp dish, nems, bissap. The thiebou bou yapp came with sooo much food. You'll definitely get your money's worth for it. It came with beef shank, jollof rice, onions, and a super spicy sauce (the chef even warned us to only use a little at a time). The beef shank was a bit tough, but it tasted good. The jollof rice was cooked with the tiniest grains of rice I've ever seen, but it was very delicious. There was soooo much of it! There was a little saucer with cooked onions and some kind of sauce. It was good, but not memorable. The nems was interesting. I thought it would the Senegalese version of Chinese spring rolls since the menu's description for it said spring rolls. However, it's sort of more like Vietnamese summer rolls, except the consistency of the skin was a bit gelatinous. It was very different. The contents of the nems and the sauce that they came with were pretty good, but I don't think I'd order this again. The bissap is the best hibiscus flowers drink I've ever had. It was sweet and refreshing and had a unique taste from what I'm used to. I recommend this drink. The interior design was interesting. They had some Senegalese artifacts, newspaper clippings of their restaurant, photos of Senegal, and lots of large spoons and forks on the wall. Lastly, they have outdoor seating, but it's only one table.

Lisa W.

Yelp
I came here on 4.3.23 and got mafe. Growing up I don't remember veggies in it so that was different but it was rich and smooth. I called ahead so the service was quick and friendly.

Nick B.

Yelp
Easy parking in the area even though the streets are busy. A lot of seating available. The food tastes great! Friendly staff that helped to navigate menu. They should mark their prices with a bit more clarity. I will be returning to this place in the near future.

Candace T.

Yelp
Nice, clean atmosphere and good customer service. I waz immediately greeted when I entered the restaurant and took a moment to look over the menu. The staff was really polite. I ordered takeaway and it was good. The vegetarian nem was delightful! I am excited to go back and try more. I would recommend this place. Cheers!

Kelson N.

Yelp
This is probably my third or fourth time to this location. It is pretty good and has that small mom and pop feeling. On this visit I had the chicken and white rice and a stew. It was amazing and I was happy to enjoy my food. I will eat there again.

Haja G.

Yelp
Top 3 best African food in the DMV. Idk how this place has some bad reviews. The food is exquisite and the owner is so nice and informative. Seriously... This is like one of the best African food restaurants, that don't skimp on ingredients and you can taste that because everything tastes so authentic and fresh. Wow the yassa chicken is amazing, their jollof is the best you can get in town, honestly senegalese jollof is probably the best jollof & I'm not even senegalese. But I'll be adult enough to admit some things like that. The presentation is amazing too, looks fancy lol The owner took his time to carefully explain the menu to us. Im very impressed with this place. Very professional, always on time. Keep it up guys. A great representation of African food and service

Matthew S.

Yelp
Dibi lampchops and Yassa Chicken have some now!!!! This is one of those classic ethnic hole in the wall restaurants with a very humble small seating area, and very flavorful food. The lamb was cooked perfectly, and sizzles with flavor. They gave us a huge portion of caramelized onions, which you just smother all over the rice and it's heavenly. The chicken was fantastic on the spicy side, but very tasty. I also had a ginger juice drink that tasted similar to ginger beer. Just a tip they don't have club soda so you might want to bring some and mix it with that ginger drink and it will be very similar to ginger beer. This is located in a walkable area in Hyattsville (which is a hidden gem). We will be back for sure.

Zender C.

Yelp
Wr returned after a few years to this restaurant. We were once again disappointed for the following reasons: 1. Kids were serving the food and walking in and out 2. The beignets were bad, old oil. 3. The Ndole was tasteless 4. Food arrive late and 1 by one and you still have to wait between 1 and the 2 and the third and the fourth 5. Ran out of ice This place should be a carry out. I don't recommend it.

Faith E.

Yelp
I ordered a take out order and it was very nice! The Jollof was nicely cooked and flavored. I ordered Yassa chicken for the first time and it was nice as well will be coming back to try others items on the menu!

Lia M.

Yelp
If you've ever considered broadening your culinary horizons, Chez Dior would be a great place to choose. This Senegalese restaurant serves delicious food. The owner is super nice and willing to explain, so feel free to ask questions. He's always appreciative of your interest and your business. I've visited twice, and I've had the yassa chicken, the dibi (lamb), accra, and bissap (hyssop) juice. I love the lamb, though it is well-done, so the texture is a bit tough. It comes with onion and pepper sauces and plantains. I actually do no like sweet plantains, but these are not too sweet, and I am fan. The pepper sauce really does it for me. It's spicy, but flavorful. The yassa chicken is quite delicious and well-seasoned and I appreciate the rice. Accra was good, though maybe slightly overdone, but I'm addicted to the pepper sauce, so I just kept dipping it in. I appreciate slightly sweet bissap to complement the food. No alcohol, but you can bring your own wine or beer. I'm looking forward to returning and trying more dishes.

Naima K.

Yelp
I was so excited when I found out they had attieke, I'd come here once a week for a few months. Instead of eating it with their tasty grilled fish, they presented the option when I was ordering dibi, to have it with attieke. Yall!!! This was a dream come true. The tastiest meat with the tastiest starch...and it came with all the different sauces too...the attieke sauce with the vegetables and onion sauce for dibi. Anyways, one day a different guy was taking orders and my $18.99 order was suddenly $45.99. I was not ok. Lol. Talked to another guy working there, and they confirmed that the price increase was real. I'm sure all their entrees have increased by now (but not as bad as attieke), but back in February ish 2022, I had it made. No, a side of "riced cassava" is not worth $25 per serving for me. Beyond that, thiebu jen is decent. The nems have had no meat in them the past few times I ordered them (they had some when I first started coming). The drinks (sorrel/bissap and ginger juice which you can get mixed) are good too. Cassava leaf is decent but they seem to add peanut butter and one of my kids is allergic. Besides that, they are generally friendly and attentive but tend to be on the slow side. The ambiance is casual.

Ramatu K.

Yelp
Prices raised exponentially since last going there. The owner and the young dude is nice, but the other guy working in the front is terrible and needs help with customer service.

Memuna E.

Yelp
I've only been here twice but the Jollof was amazing both times. I usually only eat my mom's Sierra Leonian Jollof but if she's not cooking this is where I'm coming for some rice. They also make plantains that go so well with the cabbage and carrots in the Jollof. I'm drooling just thinking about it all. So delicious, I will be back!!!

Edgar A.

Yelp
Senegal! I've never been, however, I've heard that their cuisine is quite tasty. The D.C. area is known for having a variety of African restaurants. Since I'm here, I thought it would be great to check out a place whose cuisine I'm unfamiliar with. My friend recommended Chez Dior. He's eaten there before, and swears by their menu. I can now say I support his statement. When our party of three arrived, we were quickly seated and given a menu. The laminated menu has both food and drink options. The options ranged from things completely foreign to me to others (like plantains) that are very familiar to me. Notably, no alcoholic beverages. We placed our food and drink orders with the kind waitress. Not soon after, I got my Chez Dior cocktail and my gf and friend got the Bissau drink. Personally, I don't like juicy liquids, but the Bissap was a hit with the group. The food came out pretty quickly too. Even though it was 7:30 pm or so, we were still able to order from the lunch menu. The peanut butter sauce was out of this world. The savory and sweet bits of meat and yam lathered with the peanut butter sauce went great with the white rice. The crushed chili on the side is dangerously spicy as well. The theibuo diene had a great smoky flavor to it. To me, not nearly as exciting to eat as the peanut butter sauce. The plantains were on the mark as well. The other important thing to note is the slow service after your food arrives. I think it's great when businesses don't make customers feel rushed, but they need to still give us attention every now and than. Overall, great food, friendly staff, and nice drinks. Highly recommended.

Will C.

Yelp
Like many reviewers here, I've had no experience eating Senegalese (or even West African) cuisine, so as such I'm on weaker footing than I would be usually. In addition, though I don't much care for fish usually, I ordered the Thieboudienne because it's the national dish of Senegal and if I'm going to try something new...might as well go all the way. Chicken Yassa would've been an easier choice, but I wanted to push myself. The actual dish itself was a mixed bag. Vegetables (carrots, cassava, cabbage, eggplant) and rice were deeply infused in the flavor from the sauce. It's hard to describe, but it was savory and very different from anything I'm use to. Really liked the rice. However, the fish was fairly disappointing, even if I liked fish. Biggest issue was that it was quite dry and I couldn't detect the herb/aromatics stuffing that I was expecting. I know that thieboudienne is supposed to be prepared in large platters for large dinners, but the dry fish was quite disappointing and this might better as a weekend special when there's more foot traffic. Service was fine but somewhat diffident. Worth trying again, though I'd probably get the Chicken Yassa.

Kathy P.

Yelp
This place has incredible food & service. I even took 2 orders of Fattaya home with me

Geraldine U.

Yelp
This was my first time eating Senegalese food and I'll be coming back for more. Anything with lamb was delicious - I was a big fan of the dibi (lamb chops) and the couscous tiere (more of a lamb stew, tomato based). The meat was tender and juicy. I may pass on the couscous next time, but I'd order an extra side of plantains like we did at this meal. Expect the meal to take a little longer to cook since it's made fresh and made to order. And since it's made to order, the chef was so kind to adapt a dish for our vegetarian diner. He was able to combine a couple of the vegetarian appetizers into a dinner plate. It looked so good I almost wanted to order the vegetarian combo plate also!

Eric F.

Yelp
Don't let the hole in the wall aesthetic scare you away, the food is incredible.

Rudy H.

Yelp
We enjoyed both the food and the service at the restaurant. It appears to be a favorite place for many customers, judging by the number of orders picked up when I was there.

Tae S.

Yelp
I have never had Senegalese food. I didn't know what to think about it. However, once I came in the small establishment and the bright atmosphere. The place looks like a home establishment. The service is not fast but it's not slow either. The food had such rich flavor. My friend had the lamb. I had the stuffed fish (traditional dish). We also had a small taste of the okra soup which was outstanding. This is a must go stop if in the area.

Barrie H.

Yelp
The food is excellent! Great and fast service. It is important to note, I have not tried everything on the menu but I just know all the food must be delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone, it will not disappoint. Apart from the food, the restaurant was renovated with new seating and tables.

Anita W.

Yelp
We ate in here shortly before the pandemic started and it was phenomenal. The owner was gregarious and helpful explaining the dishes, and the chicken (an almost stew-like dish with vegetables in it) I had was the best I've ever tasted. Really the best in that category. Perfectly prepared. My husband loved his food as well.

Gina L.

Yelp
This place is ridiculously good. The owners are very nice and extremely helpful when we were ordering. Honestly, everything was so delicious, from the Yassa Chicken, Dibi (lamb), to the Thiebou Diene (fish). The couscous and plantains are amazing. The tea at the end of the meal was quite interesting, a little sweet, and definitely worth a try! Pros: EVERYTHING, especially the couscous and plantains Cons: ??? I'm going to keep this review short to save you time so you can make your decision now to go to Chez Dior.

Mike B.

Yelp
Senegalese food... What is Senegalese food...? The closest country to Senegal I've had cuisine from before this experience was Ghana. And after having eaten at Chez Dior and Rainbow Cafe, I can tell you, the two are VERY different- at least as far as the representations go from those two restaurants. Chez Dior's menu and dishes all seem somewhat familiar but with stark differences. The "Nems" seem firmly rooted in Vietnamese cuisine. So much so that if you were too serve this same dish in a Vietnamese restaurant I wouldn't blink twice. Even the dressing that comes with it, what they call "Nuoc Mam" is a shade of "Nc chm" a very popular Vietnamese dipping sauce served with a plethora of different dishes. They are described on the menu as : Spring rolls stuffed with chicken, ground beef, vermicelli, with vegetables and mushrooms. Served with nuoc mam dressing. The Accra are essentially seasoned black eyed pea croquets served with a tomato based sauce. One propelling factor of having dinner there that night was the Yassa Chicken, which just made "The Ten Best Places To Eat Cheap In Washington" according to the Washington Post. The chicken is a fork tender, melt in your mouth, expertly spiced piece of meat with a sauce that is mainly composed of sautéed onions with bright acidic punches. The onions when eaten with the chicken and rice round out a Thai-worthy combination of sweet, sour, savory, and bitter. The Thieboudieune, what the waiter calls one of the most common and basically National dishes of Senegal, is a flaky white fish that is stewed in a deep and smokey tomato based, and almost tamarind flavored stock and is served with brown rice that seems crushed or broken. The rice is somewhat vinegary with a host of fork tender stewed vegetables on the side (including cabbage, eggplant, and sweet potato). Totally a winner. The service hear was insanely good. The waiter was friendly, attentive, kind, and joyful. He also brought over another small table to add to our table when he heard how much we ordered. That was awesome. The only dish that was somewhat of a miss for us was the lamb, which was a bit tougher and chewier than we would have liked. Outside of that, the meal was fantastic, and it was really fun exploring a cuisine that is shades of cuisine I've had, but with new wonderful flavors that I'd never had and now love.

Yelp
First of all, the nem are TO DIE FOR!!!!!!! Second this local staple is frequented by Senegalese folks as well as other West African ppl so you know the food is authentic and delish! The dibi was good but I would've wanted more sear/char, I'm not sure it was grilled. I also liked the thieboudieunne but I missed out on getting fish so I had rice only! Nonetheless, very delicious and from someone who grew up eating Senegalese food and has traveled to Senegambia several times, it is 100% worth it! No pics cuz I ate it all too fast!

Yelp
Everything was great about Chez Dior! This was our first time trying Senegalese food and the experience was awesome. We took a while to decide and also had help from the kind staff. Finally we decided on: Nems: 3 spring rolls stuffed with chicken, ground beef, vermicelli, with vegetables and mushrooms and served with nuoc mam dressi -These were yummy! Thiebou diene: fish with red rice and veggies -Our waiter told us this is his favorite dish. It was great! Dibi: Grilled marinated lamb shoulder chops with onions and mustard sauce -The lamb was very good and it also came with plantains. Yum! Bissap juice: Hibiscus flower infused -My second time trying Hibiscus juice and this one was better than the one I had in the Middle East! Recommended! We liked everything but as I don't have experience with African food, it's hard for me to know exactly what to recommend or how it should taste. I'm definitely planning to go back to try some of the other dishes though! Regarding parking, there is some street parking but you can also park for free right behind the restaurant since that's their space. They were super helpful for this!

Yelp
This was my first time trying Senegalese food and let me just say, I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it! I really knew nothing about what dishes were most popular/traditional in Senegal, and I'm glad one of my good friends recommended this place to me! I always love supporting small local businesses as well and the staff here was very friendly and you could tell they were authentic and genuinely appreciated their customers. I wish this place wasn't a bit of a hike for me from where I live because I would definitely be ordering take out from this place veroften if it was closer! I ordered what was called Thiebou Diene, which was an herb stuffed white fish with a side of brown rice and various vegetables topped with a tomato stew. It was absolutely delicious! The definition of comfort food. Thank you, Chez Dior, for the wonderful and welcoming experience! 10/10.

Yelp
The owner has really gone out of his way to make sure we are pleased customers. The quality here is typically bar none and this is REAL FOOD! It is beautiful in taste and execution. I am truly grateful to have Chez Dior. We eat there at least once a week and more sometimes. UPDATE: Add SoupaKonji to the list of faves. This restaurant is fabulous. I LOVE CHEZ DIOR!!!

Yelp
I have been ordering from here since I moved to MD in 2016. Whomever is inside running the store is always pretty friendly. This time I ordered the lamb chops with jollof and bissap (sorrel). The peppers cut up with the lamb made the meal for me. The jollof is always delicious and peppery. Sorrel was so so good. They do not make theirs super sweet which I like. I do not have pics as I demolished everything. I would give this four stars but I always get food to go. I can't accurately judge the ambiance.
