"For the Francophiles, Chez Georges serves up traditional bistro favorites like soupe a l’oignon, escargots de bourgogne, and moules frites, along with French specialties with a Lowcountry accent, like roulade de porc stuffed with rainbow chard and bouillabaisse using Lowcountry boil ingredients. The fleur-de-lis decor and extensive French wine list (with a smattering of other European bottles) add to the Parisian vibe." - Lynn and Cele Seldon

We heard from a local the drinks here are outstanding so we had to stop by and try. Between the restaurant decor, which was regal and the bar, which was beautifully designed, this truly set the ambiance for our drinks. The overall experience with the presentation, even down to how the menu is presented was outstanding! We tried a few drinks and all were excellent! We will have to come back to try the food, but if you're in need of a great drink, this is definitely the place.

Google
Amazing dinner, drinks, and dessert. We had the amuse bouche, steak, salmon, crepe Suzette, espresso martini, Pinot noir and Pinot Grigio. Food was very tasty with great service.

Google
We went here for lunch, and it was totally excellent! Everything we had was a cut above. The cocktails were some of the best on the island (and elsewhere). The escargot is one of the best we have had. The sandwiches were inspired, and the crab dish fantastic. Service was extremely great - the bartender did fantastic. The environment is wonderful, and the bar very nice. Really a great experience, and we will return. Thanks!

Google
The restaurant lived up to its reputation. Seared frois gras, escargot, eggplant, pork chop, duck, frech onion soup were the best. Finish with a wonderful creme brulee. Sommelier was very helpful too.

Went here for an anniversary dinner and the staff all made us feel special and celebrated. Great food and wine selection. Would love to return. Highly recommend for a fine, French dining experience!

It's difficult to write a review for a place like Chez George's because it so clearly fits into the community. Each and every person we met was kinder and more welcoming than the last, with that theme echoing through the bar and dining room as waiters met their regulars. The difficulty is that level of enthusiasm and spirit didn't translate into the best food. Arriving for happy hour is hit or miss, but we made it in at opening around 1640. We took advantage of the bar specials ordering five plates along with three drinks. The plates are small. It's really small. Even for happy hour...small. Not only small, they all lack some luster. From the sauce with the escargot to the mayonnaise on the mussels, it's just somehow not French. Even worse was seeing our waiters pretend to steal and play with our dishes about to be served behind the bar. We paid just shy of $200.00 for our meal and left hungry. We had to go get dinner after dinner. And I know it's happy hour, but sampling half a menu and shelling out that level of money should reflect in a full tank. We came once and never again.

Perfect fine dining! We celebrated my birthday at Chez Georges and it was splendid from beginning to end.

Google
Chez Georges is really good. My favorite part is being served by Monica. Monica is a famous mixologist. She knows her craft & spirits inside & out. She brings in knowledgeable & renowned owners & sellers of their craft. Legit, if you want a good meal & an amazing cocktail go here!

Yelp
One of the Best! Chez George has quickly become one of my favorite go-to French restaurants on the island! The romantic and intimate interior sets the perfect mood, making every visit a delightful experience. The menu is equally impressive, offering a delectable array of French cuisine that keeps me coming back for more. The staff here are gracious and welcoming, always leaving a lasting impression with their warm demeanor. Their service enhances the overall experience, making you feel right at home and eager to return. I highly recommend starting with the escargot as an appetizer, followed by the exquisite Beef Bourguignon for your main course. And don't forget to save room for the crème brûlée for dessert--it's absolutely divine! If you're on the island, Chez George is a must-visit. Bon appétit!

Yelp
Amazing service throughout. We started with the Tartare de Boeuf. Very delicious. Also lots of complimentary baguettes throughout the meal. Entrees were the Canard and Boef Bourguignon. Both were very large and delicious courses. Dessert consisted of the dessert crepes and the layer puff pastry. Amazing. 10/10. Best restaurant we have visited in Hilton Head.

Jeff D.

Yelp
If you are looking for French Food in Hilton Head you need to diner here. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a large group (11) so we got reservations. They do have a nice bar area so if don't have reservations you could sit there. Started off with some great appetizers. Yep, we got some Escargot, wow very good! Be adventurous and try them! Also got the Assisted De Fromage and Ratatouille. Both wry good. For dinner I got the special Filet with potatoes and Broccolini. Very good! On to desserts, we got one of each, I think! Look at the pictures. They were all good!

Tatem G.

Yelp
Everything was amazing! The wine list is great, the service was wonderful, the other patrons were kind, and the food was delicious. The ambiance is a little on the fancy side but not too fancy. To start-I cannot say enough good things about the charcuterie board - it was amazing and I could have ordered it for my own meal! The French onion soup was great & the Beef Bourguignon was absolutely fantastic! Cannot wait to come back!

Noah C.

Yelp
Just a perfect meal from start to finish. The ambiance was perfect and the waitress was attentive and very helpful. The French onion soup was incredible as was the cassoulet.

Ron H.

Yelp
Located on New Orleans Road - Of course.... Chez Georges is outstanding is all ways. Server Monica is the epitome of outstanding. We really enjoy this property. Recommend reservations. We are very fond of Mussels, and I prepare at home -- but not as good as Chez George.... We travel often to Europe; Belgium and France offer great mussels; more recently we visited Ireland in September and October; Irish Mussels are great. Chez Georges is a 5 0f 5 in all respects; we shall return.

Caitlin S.

Yelp
Appetizers we had the tartar and oysters. Both came out amazing! The staff are really nice and the food comes out quick. As for dinner, I had the duck and it was so overwhelmingly sweet that it became difficult to eat it. After two bites I was done and just watched everyone else eat. Which is so disappointing when the dish was close to $50. My mom had the fish that was over cooked and my dad had the mussels which were fine. All together it was $400... As for the ambience.... It's cute until you see the amount of water damage and mold in the ceiling.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance, great food and drinks. Fantastic dining experience with wonderful service and food!

Millie D.

Yelp
I had the duck and my husband had the bouillabaisse both dish was made perfectly. The duck has the best combination of sides & sauces. The bouillabaisse has a very rich flavor and goodness which will make you say DAMN that's real seafood. We will definitely come back and that's the answer to the question.

Grant M.

Yelp
Reserved the bar for Father's Day, the bartenders are courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. The food was terrible, inedible in fact. The ambiance looked like a bankrupt sports bar with wallpaper and hanging light fixtures. So I ordered the special, per recommendation, and I received thawed out duck with Jack Daniel's bbq sauce on it. The sides were interesting. Raw sweet potatoes with canned pineapple chunks. Yum. I think it goes without saying, we won't be back. After complaining about the food the drunk Italian owner slammed his palm on the bar and yelled, "Get the f$&@ out of my restaurant!" So I happily left. Thank you Chez George!

Mel N.

Yelp
Outstanding restaurant! Both in service and food quality! I just returned from Paris two days ago And the one thing that I always miss the most is the baguette. The owner gets the baguette flown in from a Tribeca bakery in New York City and this one came very close to the baguette I miss in Paris! We ordered so many dishes I'm sure I missed a couple of them but everything a taste it was excellent! Will definitely return!

Opal D.

Yelp
Great cocktails. Bartender was competent. Nice ambiance, would definitely want to dine here next time I visit HH.

Jim M.

Yelp
The food totally pops, great flavors, super service, and one of the best cocktail/Wine bars on the island.

Priscila O.

Yelp
This place is the BOMB! ... simply AMAZING . No words for it . I'm Argentinian , I know what good food is . Anybody that complains about it lacks common sense ,is malicious ,and is just straight up a KAREN . From the moment you walk in you just feel welcomed . The food is exceptional , drinks as well . It is one of the most beautiful bars I've seen . If you write a bad review .... Just GO HOME learn how to cook French food ,and stop trying to sabotage small hard working family owned businesses. You should be ashamed of yourself. Thank you chez George for always doing an amazing job !

Jenna M.

Yelp
We were treated to a dinner here at Chez George while on vacation as recommended by a local. Food and service was superb. Highly attentive, white table cloth ambiance in a comfortable setting. Fresh bread and butter was a great starter and my steak frites were cooked perfectly. What a quality experience.

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
I have been going there since it opened, just an excellent restaurant. Great food, exceptional service.

Lucy R.

Yelp
Onion soup was an oily, cloudy, fatty oxtail mess with barely a slice of onion. See photo of the 1/2 cup of grease I skimmed off the top. The very worst onion soup in 40 years of dining out. Tall skinny, long hair bartender was aloof and never engaged anyone other than the bar fly who had a pre set wine glass and placemat waiting for him at the end of the bar by the kitchen door. Said bar fly walked around the dining room with his wine glass talking to - annoying guests as if he was Chez George himself. In between making a decent cocktail, the bartender stared into his phone, ignoring the dirty plates stacked up in between courses. He would be a good "service station" bartender at best. The shining stars were the beef Bourguigone, Salmon and the tiny jar of pate with bread service. Otherwise, this place falls way below the mark of a 5 star restaurant.

Nancy B.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing. I went there when I was doing a whole food plant based program and they put together a special meal for me. If you have special needs they will do all humanly possible to accommodate. They found chicken of the woods mushrooms that they treated like "chicken" the meal was really spectacular for no oil. They were the best no oil fine dining, no meat meal I had during that time!!!

Yelp
We live on HHI 6 months out of the year. As it's time to "move North" again, we chose Chez George for our Saturday night meal. Its ambiance, wonderful food, bartenders, and sommelier make this one of our favorites on Hilton Head Island. Steak Frites and bœuf bourguignon were our choices this evening.... Along with delicious cocktails and wine. We left feeling culinarily satisfied and already missing HHI. Until October...

Pat S.

Yelp
Food and service outstanding. We've made this an annual event on our trip to Hilton Head and is something to look forward to.

Loredo L.

Yelp
Thanks Yelp! for helping me find this fine dining French restaurant for my mom's 80th birthday. Our server Christian was great. The owner introduced himself and gave us a round of feee champagne. The food was excellent and better than many restaurants I went to in France. My mom was very happy so mission accomplished! Highly recommend

Peter G.

Yelp
Amazing service and ambiance. Cheese plate was off the charts! Beef Bourgogne was unreal. Hey the eberle cab, never seen it outside of Paso on a wine menu

Claudia E.

Yelp
Really, really enjoyed this place. I took myself on a me-date and sat at the bar to have a drink and a meal. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, they really elevated the experience making it great. I treated myself to one of their cocktails. The Avec Leal was fantastic, I texted my friend who is into craft cocktails that he needs to learn how to make it. Then there was bread, butter, and pate brought out. I really, really liked that pate. I then got the poulpe octopus appetizer. I enjoyed it but it wasn't what I was expecting. It said it was going to be charred, but the texture was not at all what I was expecting. I still enjoyed it, but I think I would order something else next time. For the entree I got the boeuf bourguignon, and this was wonderful as well. Overall I had a great experience here, and I would highly recommend this place for when you're looking for an extra-special meal on the island!

Yelp
We continue to experiment with dining options in town and on the Island... This past Sunday we were totally blown away with a night out at Chez Georges. We have been here a little over 2 years now and have quickly found our favorites along with a lot of ok places. We kept looking at each other and asking the same question "Why have we not been here before?" From the moment you walk in your are warmly greeted, and even though it was our first trip, we were made to feel like we were regulars. We were introduced to the sommelier who gave us a quick walk around a well put together wine list offering to answer any questions at any time. Our serving "team" also introduced themselves by name and we were told there would be "additions" to the menu but they'd wait a while while we settled in to relax. We started with cocktails and the two of us that love dry martinis (one gin, one vodka) smiled broadly when our server (yes, I should remember his name, but it was such a long, fun, night, and I'm as old as dirt, so I forgot) said, "I'll tell the bartender "in and out" " #iykyk my wife and I shared the escargot and they were wonderful, She chose a chicken dish, I chose the wreckfish special. Our friends Tori and Paul started with the deviled crab and then chose the duck, and the short ribs and at the end of the meal Paul exclaimed the short ribs were the best he'd ever had anywhere. As the courses were so varied, we were wrestling with the wine choice, so we put our trust in the sommelier who suggested a Pinot Noir (on of my very favorite varietals) we chose from the list and he was spot on with his reco, it paired perfectly with all four varied entrees. We ended by sharing come creme brulee and some outstanding cappuccino. The pace of the meal was perfect, our server (one of the few people we met who was actually born and raised in Bluffton) was amazing. We have added Chez Georges to our list of top choices.

Mary V.

Yelp
Giving 3 stars due to ambiance. Food was okay but way overpriced. Happy hour was a joke - cheese plate and escargot- really who eats that? $20 cheese burger - really! Five guys is better flavor. Taking off list.

Bruce M.

Yelp
Loved Chez George. We showed up at 9:20 PM and they seated us even though several other restaurants would not seat us after 9 even though they don't close until 10PM. Great service, delicious warm bread served up front. The complimentary pate and butter served with the bread was a wonderful touch. The salads were delicious, the frites were spot on and while some may argue I really enjoyed the the French onion soup. Not a lot of onions, more broth and cheese. If your looking for that French onion soup loaded with onions, this is not that soup. The service was excellent and the food we had was on point with lots of attention to detail.

Bill G.

Yelp
Simpley the best. Gourmet par excellence! Duck 2 Ways the best duck I've ever had. And I've had a lot of duck from France to Florida. The owner, chef, Father and Mother made our dinner supurb. Great wine selections. Other people has fish, porkcops, and other delicacies. Very French inspired menu. I'll never mis this delightful restaurant when ever I'm in Hilton Head.

Helen D.

Yelp
C'est magnifique! This is a lovely French bistro, with high quality renditions of all the French classics, and stellar service. If you're looking for somewhere a little bit special, Chez George is it.

Angela C.

Yelp
The food was great! Service was excellent our waiter Andrew took excellent care of us. The short ribs was delicious the pork shank fell right off the bone. Dessert was very good. All around five star restaurant.

Stephanie G.

Yelp
So glad I found this place on Resy! We went to Chez Georges for my birthday dinner. I HIGHLY recommend that you make reservations ahead of time since they were packed on a Friday night. I initially made reservations for 7 pm, but since my fiancé and I were hungry by 5 pm, I called the restaurant to see if they could take us in early and they happily obliged. We were greeted by a server and seated us right away. The restaurant is darling! The ambiance and the service were wonderful. We were offered sparkling water or filtered tap water and opted for the free water lol. We were also given bread with butter and chicken liver pâté (which was out of this world). We started with the grilled octopus, while I got beef bourguignon as an entree and my fiancé got the steak frites. I thought the food was amazing and presented very well. After dinner, we both shared creme brûlée. The only minute negative thing about the place is, I believe they got us mixed up with another table. When I made a reservation on Resy, I indicated that it was for a birthday. The server for the table next to us asked them if someone on the table was celebrating a birthday and they both declined. In that moment, I realized that may have been our table instead. No big deal about it, but it was just a funny mix up. It would have made my 30th bday even more special if our dessert came with a candle or something.

Kendall C.

Yelp
This place is truly a hidden gem in Hilton Head. I was told they opened 2 yrs ago and before it was just a bar. The inside is really nice and so tastefully decorated . There is a really nice bar when you enter and there fine dining is to the left. Its more of a smaller restaurant and cozy. Now , for the food, I did not have my phone on me to take pictures but everything we had was a wow! Full of flavor and the cocktails were delicious . The waiter was super friendly and told us they serve lunch and brunch as well . We will be back for lunch next time . The place was also very packed so that should tell you something !

Diane L.

Yelp
Best food, best service!! Such a great atmosphere. We drive down from Lexington and they remember us every time we come in! Highly recommended!!

Clive V.

Yelp
Wow what a gem - French cuisine at its best! So good we cancelled plans and revisited it a second time. Great cocktails both evenings. First night we had the swordfish and muscles - great. The second evening I had the Duck - oh so good! The notable side was the gratin - so so good.

Hannah L.

Yelp
From check in to pay out, the best description I can come up with is, make sure you speak French to order a very American style meal. I recommend avoiding the steak frites and short rib...slathered in sweet gravy. The service was a little curt, but the ambiance is nice.

Shawn G.

Yelp
Fantastic food. 5 stars. Loved that they give you pâté with your bread & butter. This proves how French they are. I had the duck two ways & loved it. The escargot were great as well The staff was wonderful & very attentive

Lori R.

Yelp
I went with a group of girlfriends for lunch which they just recently starting serving. I had the French onion soup, which was very good! Four of us had salads and two had burgers. They switched the temperature on the burgers (one was med rare and one well done). Once it was brought to their attention they offered to remake the burgers, my friends declined since the salad people would be done eating. The restaurant comped their burgers which we all thought was very gracious. I would say the only negative, and I didn't count off for this, it was FREEZING in there. I can't wait to try for dinner, as long as it's warmer!

Karen O.

Yelp
Awesome food. Well, I only had the French onion soup and escargot. The BEST soup I've had. Great service and the ambiance. Pricey but ask about the happy hour.

Heidi B.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant with excellent food and attentive service. Welcoming from the first moment. The early dinner menu offers a range of French favourites, perfectly executed. The cassoulet is excellent, seasoned to perfection. Relaxed and low key elegant atmosphere, recommended for an evening out with friends or your significant other.

Steve R.

Yelp
Outstanding dining experience! From the friendly and professional service to the exceptional food, all at reasonable prices for the quality received. We started with Escargot, and had the duck and Beef Bourguignon as entrees. Ended with crème brûlée for dessert. All were absolutely perfect. We are only here in Hilton Head for a few more days, but will likely go back to try some of the other choices (the pork chop at the table next to us looked phenomenal).

John M.

Yelp
Took my wife to her birthday dinner at Chez Georges and it did not disappoint. Food was excellent, service, and attention were excellent as well. We both loved it there and it will be a new go to place.

Brad H.

Yelp
If you are in Hilton head you must go to Chez Georges Bistro and Bar for dinner! Truly one of the best dinner experiences we've had and by far the best in Hilton Head.We were celebrating my sons 18th birthday and definitely chose the perfect location- beautiful restaurant, incredible service and amazing food! We started by sharing a few appetizers ( escargot, French onion soup and salads). You really cannot go wrong with any of these options but my favorite was the peach, burrata, and pecan salad. Entrees included the fish special, steak and frites, poulet paillard a'L orange, and the boeuf bourguignon). Again fantastic but our favorites were the fish special and the beef bourguignon. The bartender created mock-tails for the kids and mv husband and I were surprised with champagne for our anniversary. Then they brought out dessert with a candle for my sons birthday ( and of course we had to try the crème brûlée). Fantastic! The service ( thank you Christian) was perfect as well. We definitely chose the best place to celebrate. Thank vou for a perfect evening.

Joseph J.

Yelp
Way too noisy. We won't go back. Server was un-rememorable. Our first time there - we were two couples

Nick D.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants we ate at in Hilton Head. Food was great and the service was very professional and friendly. Very good wine list as well.

Elisa M.

Yelp
I just love this hidden gem. Service and food was phenomenal. Our waiter Will was top notch. I enjoyed a juicy, delicious braised pork on the bone with a potato side that was to die for. I cook but could never replicate the bursting flavors in that dish. My husband enjoyed the tasty swordfish with scrumptious rice and hearty beets sides! The chantilly cream and berry dessert was heavenly. There is no doubt I will dine there again as the wine list was extensive and unique! Not to be missed!

Melissa R.

Yelp
We had a delicious birthday dinner starting with Le Cabaret, a fresh, slightly citrusy cocktail, the French onion soup, and the salade de peche. We also enjoyed the bouillabaisse, boeuf bourguignon, and the pork porterhouse and overall were pleased that we found a restaurant in Hilton Head that served traditional French food that was comparable to the cuisine we've had in Paris. The prices were high, but the quality of the food and service was quite good. When my husband informed our server it was my birthday, she brought out a small sign that said "Happy Birthday" and added a candle to our dessert although it wasn't complimentary. We saw the owner walking around chatting with all the customers, and he even sat down at the table next to us which was loud and seemed to have had too much to drink. They all chatted for a while and had more wine. I smiled at him hoping he would stop by and say "hi" but he never came over.

Beverly P.

Yelp
Fabulous food and exceptional service. A great place for a special meal. Will be returning.

Jack L.

Yelp
During our recent visit to Hilton Head, S.C. in mid September we were fortunate to enjoy a Monday evening at Chez Georges (it's on 'restaurant row', New Orleans Road). The Wine Dinner special menu and presentation by owner sommelier, George Casalicchio; and executive chef, Chef Eric was beyond expectation. Every wine, from the welcome champagne to the dessert wine, was thoughtfully selected and fully customized to a 5-course cuisine serving of "extraordinary". We were two of forty others in the well-appointed dining area who were treated to exceptional service and superb presentation(s). From beginning to end, the experience was par excellence - and memorable. We loved the food so much we returned on Tuesday to sample their fall menu - delicious! We dined at the bar - such fun! If you find yourself in Hilton Head, S.C. (or anywhere within driving distance), get there. Tout de suite !

Leonna M.

Yelp
Good and service were wonderful. Tables were spaced nicely and noise level was pleasant.
