‘Iron Chef’ Star David Burke Is Opening a New Restaurant in Midtown | Eater NY

"I noticed that Chez Jeanette, a bar of no relation in Paris’s 11th arrondissement, was cited as the comparison point for the Lower East Side's Le Dive because both feature a squiggly, illuminated neon sign above their counters and similar maroon awnings." - Luke Fortney

The Paris Wine Bars That Inspired Le Dive in NYC

"A Paris spot in the 10th arrondissement noted for its 'quintessential dive-y' vibe, distinctive squiggly illuminated neon above the bar, and maroon awnings with scalloped cream trim — elements copied to evoke its atmosphere elsewhere." - Emily Wilson

Marvelous vintage vibe - formica tables, ceiling moldings, and an authentic old-school bistrot feel that’s hard to beat. Great value too: €10-15 for a starter and main, tasty and rare for Paris today, though portions aren’t huge. Only downside? The service - functional but you feel like a bother if you’re not the ‘cool guy.’ Still, a great modern Parisian bouillon.

Shabby chic overall, but the service is definitely more shabby than chic. We seated ourselves and when we asked a server to clear the table of dirty glasses and an ashtray we somehow ended up with two used ashtrays. It was unclear whether there was table service or bar service and when we asked we were told “both” but in reality it was more like “neither.” The place is fine but nothing special.

I came here to meet a friend and got cursed out by the server. He was insanely rude. I have no idea what I did wrong, and when I tried to apologize he cursed me out and slammed the door. Apparently he mixed me up with another person, so I just got cursed out for no apparent reason. He never apologized. I have truly never had a worse experience in a restaurant in my life.

What a gem, the vibe is amazing, if you want to be surrounded by cool people this is your place. Plus they have croquetas, amazing prices!

Food is ok. Again, nothing amazing. The price tho is incredible. It's really cheap. For 12€ you eat good food. Staff is really cool. Love the vibe and like the food, simple 3 dishes all year round. You should try !

Yelp
WOW! This used to be one of my local haunts back in 2017, I'm glad to see it hasn't changed one bit. This retro bar and restaurant has always felt hyper local. That's part of why I love it so much. It's very hip and trendy. They make good food and even better drinks. It's a really fun place to go to for cocktails later in the evening. It gets really busy and has a great atmosphere. I revisited it on a long layover in Paris. I felt really lucky to be around during the France vs Poland World Cup match. I ordered a very tasty Aperol spritz and a scrumptious croque monsieur while screaming ALLEZ! with the French locals watching with me. Chez Jeanette is a really great place to visit while in Paris.

Yelp
Had a really lovely early dinner with family here on our first night visiting We shared the ravioli, Quiche, bavette w frites, and beef with blue cheese sauce The bavette was our favorite! Perfectly prepared Ravioli was in a pesto sauce that was great with the bread Waiter spoke English and was very welcoming Overall, a solid first meal out in the city!

Yelp
Okay, now that I've eaten here, j get why some tourists give this place a bad rap. They don't get the esthetic at all. It's in a little seedier neighborhood and it has that hipster rundown vibe, not the over the top French tropey kinda thing most Americans are seeking out. The staff were super accommodating, spoke perfect English and the food was very very good. We started with the Burratina salad (amazing) then Steak Bivette with chimichuri sauce and a Croq Monsieur (SP?). Even the baguette was good - I watched them cut it up for us. So if you're not too fouffy, give this place a go. Be aware that after 5:30 pm they go to a tapas style menu. So lunch or early dinner for the traditional stuff. If you wanna eat snails for the first time, hit a tourist trap by the Eiffel Tower.

Yelp
My husband and I walked by this place and the large windows are large and afforded me a view of a beautiful burger. Inside, Chez Jeannette reminds me of some of the hipster filled Oakland cafes. Maybe half of the crowd is young, the decor is old school and they play "cool" music. I only having a 5 year old's command of French so ordering, paying, anything that requires talking makes me very nervous as it could involve unintelligible follow-up questions or humiliating waiter frustration but this was one of our first experiences ordering & paying that went without a hitch. It's the little things. We ordered a cheeseburger and a glass of house red and our bill was 19 Euros. The food was good (especially the fries) the atmosphere wasn't bad.

Yelp
The service is pleasant, the location interesting. However, the food is decidely below average and there is not enough space to lounge. Has the standard french staples, but not worh Paris 12-20 euro admission fee. Frittes were burned and hard as rocks. Salad was made from the white roots of iceberg and the dressing was from a bottle. Desserts were all premade. There are plenty of better places for a warm cafe au lauit, a leafy salad with balance. Spend money on beatuiful pastries found warm on every street corner, or try some turkish food or gyros if you are looking for cheap. For the fleeting french cafe that is a good price and has wonderful food look elsewhere. For a drink on a hot night in the summer that's local to Chateau D'eau this place suits well.
