We first discovered Chez Loma through Instagram and knew we had to try it. We went last Friday and loved it so much that we came back again this week—it’s that good! They have a fantastic happy hour from 4–6 PM in the bar area. I’m pregnant, and the bartender made me the most delicious mocktails, while my husband really enjoyed the Hugo Spritz. Be sure to ask for the house bread—it’s amazing! You also can’t leave without trying the French onion soup or the grilled Caesar salad. For happy hour, the chicken Milanesa with Caesar salad is the perfect combo. My husband ordered the Beef Wellington, which was incredible—honestly better than the one at Born and Raised. The steak frites are also amazing! Everything we’ve tried here has been outstanding. For dessert, we shared the bread pudding, and it was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. Chez Loma has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants. Highly recommend!

Amazing!! Everything we had was incredible, and the service was also excellent. The waiter and the food runner were both very attentive and kind. We got amazing recommendations from them as well. The beef Wellington was cooked to perfection, the steak tartar was delicious, and everything else we tried was also great! We will definitely be coming back.

Absolutely loved my experience at Chez Loma! Nestled in a beautifully restored Victorian house, this French bistro offers an enchanting blend of historic charm and modern elegance. The ambiance is cozy and intimate, making it perfect for a romantic dinner or a special night out. The menu is a delightful journey through French cuisine. I highly recommend the Beef Wellington—perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The French Onion Soup was rich and comforting, and the Chicken Milanese was crisp and flavorful. Each dish was presented beautifully and tasted even better. The service was impeccable; the staff was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall dining experience. It's evident that the team takes pride in providing top-notch hospitality. Chez Loma is a true gem in Coronado. If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience with exquisite food and a warm atmosphere, this is the place to go. I can't wait to return!

Google
Amazing food and amazing service. Drinks and food were top notch and the quality was there. I got a special request breaded chicken and Caesar salad and it was the best breaded chicken I have tried in San Diego. Later on we ordered some martinis in the bottom floor and they were spectacular.

Google
We had a fantastic experience for dinner at this restaurant. The service was really wonderful, the weight staff really went out of their way to accommodate us. And the food was really great. I had the short rib, it was a good size portion, and really well seasoned. All in all the ambience, the music, the whole experience was a win for us. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a romantic evening or a small intimate gathering of friends.

From the moment we sat down outside, we were treated to an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant's inviting atmosphere, combined with the attentive and friendly staff, made us feel right at home. The food was simply outstanding! Every dish we ordered exceeded our expectations. The flavors were exquisite. Whether it was the perfectly seared octopus or the mouthwatering duck cooked to perfection, each bite was a culinary delight. It's clear that the team here is committed to providing an outstanding dining experience, from the delicious food to the impeccable service. It was so impressive that we returned the next day for brunch, and we can't wait to visit again!

****UPDATE 11/1/25**** Diego from Chez Loma got in touch with us after out poor experience recently. He made it a point to address each issue that we experienced and went above and beyond to show us that our experience was an anomaly and not a reflection of how Chez Loma operates. Though we were originally disappointed in how things were handled, Diego jumped in to make things right and ensure our feedback was heard and used to avoid future issues. Huge shout out to Diego for the follow up! Extremely disappointing experience at Chez Loma. **Raw Chicken served** Wanted to share our recent experience at Chez Loma. We have been coming to Coronado for many years and somehow never tried out Chez Loma. During our recent trip my wife, daughter and I decided to give it a shot. **Ambiance & service was excellent (our server was knowledgeable and attentive) The grilled Caesar salad was fantastic. Unfortunately that’s where the good experience stopped. Our entrees arrived and after the first few bites of the chicken Milanese my wife says “this tastes weird” “does this look cooked all the way to you” Upon my inspection, her chicken was raw/undercooked. We immediately stopped eating and notified the server. He was shocked and took the plate away immediately. He did comp her plate (only) and offered us crème brûlée (which we declined) honestly my wife’s appetite was gone as she was very concerned on potential sickness for her and our almost two year old daughter who was also eating the dish. The bigger concern is that there was little acknowledgment to this issue. No manager came by to apologize and express concern for the fairly serious health risk by serving undercooked chicken. Given the high end restaurant/reputation we were shocked nothing more was done / little level of acknowledgement. It was as if it was just swept under the rug and to get us out of the restaurant. Long story short our Chez Loma experience was about as bad as it could have been, which was a huge disappointment to us as we had high hopes. We had hoped the ownership/manager would care enough to speak with us and even sent an email to the restaurant after arriving back home. Chez Loma never responded to the email. Extremely disappointing experience from a "high end restaurant"

Google
Had high expectations, unfortunately it didn’t deliver. I had the special which was Sea Bass, and my husband had the Salmon. Both of us were very underwhelmed. It was good but not as expected, especially for the price. Our waiters were understanding and did comp us a dessert and drinks which were appreciated. I’m sure it must be a good place to eat, it just wasn’t for us.

Yelp
I was finally able to try this place out for a dinner date night with my fiancé and we had the best time. The service truly is impeccable with everyone from the host to the food runners and our servers, we felt everyone genuinely cared for us. Now to the important stuff, the food. You absolutely MUST get the pear and burrata salad as a starter. The French onion soup might be the best we've ever had, and the escargot was yummy. It wasn't as heavy on the parsley as most escargot apps but it was delicious nonetheless. The best entree we ordered was without a doubt the beef Wellington. Cooked to perfection and SO tasty. Then we ended the evening with bread pudding, which was to die for! Oh ya, I almost forgot! We also ordered the lobster Mac and cheese as one of our sides and the lobster portion was very generous and also cooked to perfection.

Yelp
Delightful early dinner here on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The hostess got us seated in the bar, 'three plus Pug' Our server Art set the scene, started me out with a Banshee Pinot Noir to accompany the Escargot (the reason we came her) We only ordered apps, the grilled Caesar Salad was ok, the Artichoke dish was money, never seen it prepared like that, must try. Euro vibe, felt like the south coast of France. Wish they had more French Reds by the glass.

Julia Isabel M.

Yelp
We had a wonderful meal with great service. Chez Loma is a Coronado gem! Highly recommend

Yelp
Its a cute place. However the escargot was absolutely horrible! It was the worst I have ever had. The artichoke app was also not appetizing. The onion soup was good, it was the only good thing we had. The drinks and service were fine. I won't be back. There are so many other places to go. Ehh
google avatar

Debby B.

Yelp
One of best restaurants I have ever been to. Good portions, especially the escargot. The duck was outstanding full of flavor both sweet and savory. Also the duck very tender too. The bone marrow appetizer was heavenly, yum yum! We tried the scalloped potatoes, creamy and tender.

Camille P.

Yelp
We loved Chez Loma! We both had the Beef Wellington - amazing. The seafood tartare was also great! What really shined was the service - super attentive and overall 5 star dining experience.

Yelp
Everything about Ches Loma was magnificent! This is as close as you can get to dining in someone's house while eating out. It's a cute French chateau turned restaurant and everything about it is absolutely cozy and perfect. Service was impeccable. The host, bartenders, our server and every other staff member were all super attentive, helpful, and made our night there that much more special. The food is also incredible. Everything we got was delicious and made with love. The crab cake was the best I've ever had. The lobster ravioli and chicken milanese were absolutely dreamy. We also loved the baked oysters! Those are a must! Dessert was also very tasty. The bread pudding was my favorite. As the waiter said, it tasted like a warm, soft stick of butter. Can't wait to go back one day! Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is one of those restaurants that I've passed countless times and never been until one day, I finally got to try it. Their steak frites was super delicious! Perfectly cooked.

Yelp
Best mother daughter trips include lovely French restaurants and this was no exception. Chez Loma was so very chic and elegant. We enjoyed beautiful dishes of food and drank elegant French wine. Our waiter was so attentive and we just had the best time. There was nothing stuffy about Chez Loma. A very approachable French Restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed my tartare and beet salad. Almost licked my salad plate. Lol This restaurant sits on Coronado Island and that alone lent itself to ensuring a special evening. After biking around the island all day we sure enjoyed our relaxing French dinner out.

Yelp
Went for a compay party for 17 people. The good was excelent food and offered a nice variety; something for everyone.

Yelp
While walking by this restaurant and checking out their menu, we met a lovely couple who was having brunch. We talked to them for about 15 minutes and then we decided to stay for brunch ourselves. We ordered the duck confit benedict and harvest salad to share. The food here was really good, as was the service. As a bonus, I made a new friend! The restaurant itself is a really cute house that was converted into a restaurant on the bottom floor. The various rooms of the house were converted to restaurant space. What used to be the garage is now a bar area with 2 tables for indoor dining. Behind the bar is an open space where the majority of the tables are for indoor dining. From the looks of it, this was formerly the living room and a bedroom. A small den is a private dining area with 2 tables. The place is really cute and they used up every room downstairs. We dined on the outdoor patio (formerly the house's front lawn that is cemented and overlaps a portion of the sidewalk).

Yelp
We were pleased to eat here for lunch on a June Sunday. The other French restaurant was not taking walk-ins. We were pleasantly surprised as how spacious the place was with plenty of seating. The breakfast and lunch menu was limited which made it easier to decide. The presentation of everything was very elegant and the tastes were on point. The server was very attentive and friendly. The only detraction was the host was in the bar area and was very boisterous. Overall a wonderful experience.

Yelp
Took my mom here for Mother's Day brunch. The location is in a nice, quiet neighborhood and very Victorian/historic. It's also great for if you want to enjoy Coronado after you eat! The ambience feels very high end/upper class, so unless you're decked out in all your finest pearls, don't expect to receive 5 star treatment from the staff. Service left much to be desired and the food was just okay, really disappointing. Coming here you're really just paying for the vibes/location. If you're looking for a beachy brunch, I'd recommend Brockton Villa in La Jolla instead!

Yelp
One of the best steaks I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend. Service and ambiance were great.

Yelp
My wife and I were Celebrating an Anniversary weekend on Coronado, and decided to try a restaurant our daughter recommended. Chez Loma did not disappoint, the service was excellent, and the food delicious. We started with the Blue Point Oysters, then my wife had the Lobster Bisque and I had the Caesar Salad, for our main course my wife had the Lobster Ravioli and I just had a craving for their Waygu Burger rather then the Filet or Halibut. Everything was delicious, would definitely recommend and return.

Gabriela L.

Yelp
Food is good.. service was very good too. Ambiance is ok.. could be more Frenchie The only thing is they the hostess , Forgot about us 20 minutes after our reservation time.

Samuel P.

Yelp
Best steak I have ever had! I've been to many steakhouses and have cooked a lot of steaks myself and none have ever been as good as this ribeye!! It was so insanely tender with amazing flavor. 10/10 would recommend. The brussel sprouts were also amazing, a sweet maple flavor to it. Service and ambiance were also perfect! Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Located in a home just off of Orange Avenue in Coronado, this little gem served up some delicious French food in the small intimate dining room on the third floor. We dined on tender Beef Bourguignon with veggies and potatoes. Our appetizer, Grilled Peach & Burrata, was a divine mixture of sweet and salty with the addition of Prosciutto to the dish. They have a good wine selection. I opted for a glass of Silk & Spice, Red Blend from Portugal which was poured straight from the bottle. The red wine was tasty, almost like a light version of Porto. The service is excellent. Highly recommended for a romantic dinner.
google avatar

Amber E.

Yelp
Such a pretty historic spot. They now have happy hour during the week 1-5 pm. We stopped in and had a beer for $5, glass of wine for $10, and 6 lovely delicate oysters, 6 for $12. Worth a visit.

Yelp
I loved everything about my experience here. Our server Jennifer was amazing. She was very knowledgeable about the history of Chez Loma, and I really enjoyed hearing all she had to say. Chez Loma used to be a home that was converted into the amazing restaurant it is just under 50 years ago! A truly beautiful and intimate place. I had the Chez Espresso Martini and the chilaquiles. Both we incredibly good. the martini was frothy but still smooth. The chilaquiles were excellent and beautifully plated. I added the birria to them and can't imagine ever getting it without that. The chips were seasoned and a little thicker than typically chips you see on chilaquiles. Definitely classier so the portion was not large.

Yelp
Food and appetizer were good. We stared with escargot which was Devin, Caesar salad was yummy simple presentation. Lobster mac & cheese was yummy. For main course we ordered ribeye steak, with mash potatoes. I will say my stake had absolutely no flavor no seasoning we didn't want to say anything because the service was amazing. Hubby ordered lobster ravioli so we traded dishes he wanted the stake he added a little salt n pepper. We ended our dinner with some coffees and crème brûlée. The coffee OMG!!! So yummy! I have to say our waiter Kevin C. was Amazing!!! Keven gave us the up most excellent service, thank you Kevin. I will say the ambiance is so adorable with a touch of romance with a saxophone playing on the front porch. The manager did come to our table asked us how was our dinner, we did mention about my stake has no seasoning no flavor, not making a big deal about it because we did mention how incredible the service was and our dinner was all in all yummy. Shout out to the manager for making it right which was not needed, THANK YOU!! Definitely coming back definitely recommending Chez Loma to our family and friends. P.S. when we were first seated, the hostess seated us at a table for two near the restrooms next to the kitchen. I will say we immediately requested to be moved. To be honest, for what we pay for dinner, I don't think it's a good location to seat people for dinner. We noticed the two couples after us that were seated in that particular table also requested to be moved. Just a suggestion not a good location nor a good table to enjoy any meal.

Yelp
We drove our son to meet up with his Friends for dinner, so while waiting for them to be done my husband and I went to this FRENCH restaurant called "CHEZ LOMA " in Coronado for our dinner. We requested to be seated outdoors 'coz we have our dog with us. I ordered the following foods: *PRETTY BLONDE COCKTAIL *FRENCH ONION SOUP *MUSSELS & FRITES *CHICKEN MILANESE *STEAK and FRIES * CREME BRÛLÉE While waiting for our food to come out, my Husband walked our dog Bambam nearby the restaurant 'coz the area is beautiful. Coronado is such a nice place, it's one of my favorite spots in San Diego. My PRETTY BLONDE COCKTAIL came and I loved it, taste like Pina colada . The FRENCH ONION SOUP had a very Thick cheese on top of it, and the soup itself was also good. For SAFFRON MUSSELS & FRIES ,the mussels were a decent size, and the fries that came with it were crisp and nicely seasoned. My Husband had STEAK and FRIES, I tasted his Steaks and it was very tender and the Fries were also crisp. I had the CHICKEN MILANESE, I loved the well seasoned breading, the arugula, and the Prosciutto, and the chicken was so good, I felt like I wanted to eat this one on a Bun :) At the end of our dinner we shared the Creme Brûlée and it was delicious, well for me any creme brûlée is delicious 'coz it's my favorite dessert :) The place is very dog Friendly, our Bambam enjoyed a few of my husband's steak and a few of my Chicken. Our server was very nice, excellent service. The location is nice and the restaurant looked like a very Cozy House. It's also near a lot of small shops and it's a walking distance to the Beach and the famous Hotel Del Coronado . Parking is a bit hard to find , especially during dinner time , so expect to make many rounds to find a parking .

Yelp
Staff was super nice... location was nice if u like old buildings. Well don't go by the prices off yelp. Plates were over $50 each. Menu was very limited. Filet mignon was tough as a rock but flavorful. Struggled to cut it, server warned us that they had a bad batch tho. Lol halibut came with 2 bites of gnocchi I was like wtf is this. And they were 2 terrible bites. I literally was like omg I am spending over 50 bucks for 2 bites of a side dish. Wow lol. Halibut was good, best part of the dish was when id take a bite and get a granual of salt. Had one drink. Spent $100 and left hungry.

Yelp
Incredible from cocktails to desert with no disappointments at each step of the evening. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and our waiter, Sam, was absolutely incredible from entree recommendations to wine. Cocktails were expertly crafted and the Elderberry old fashion was incredible. A must. Escargot appetizer and French onion soup had an authentic European vibe. Wonderful. The lobster ravioli and fresh catch, a lightly blackened Hallibut Oscar were delicious. The cinnamon bread pudding ala mode did not disappoint. Even the coffee was memorable. The restaurant is small, buzzing with happy customers. A Coronado treat.

Ariana L G.

Yelp
My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day here last night. We did their prix fix menu($125pp), and were both sorely disappointed. My husband ordered the filet mignon/lobster tail option, and what he got was literal lobster scraps. I don't know how else to put it. I had the beef Wellington, and it looked pretty but the meat was super over cooked and flavorless, and the puff pastry was mushy. Pretty disappointed considering how expensive the meal was. The best part was the dessert. I had the carrot cake which was good.
google avatar

Ruth T.

Yelp
Had the perfect lunch yesterday. Our server, Kevin, was a one-man show who set the tone for our experience. Host, bartender & server, excellent & welcoming at every level. The Caesar Salad & Lobster Mac & Cheese small plate was a perfect lunch--the Mac & Cheese creamy & delicious & surprised by the generous piece of lobster meat that topped it! Top drawer presentation, too. The seared Salmon in Beurre Blanc was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. Try the Chocolate Lava Cake topped with Vanilla Ice Cream alongside a glass of port or a Baileys and Coffee--we were both thrilled with our choice! The value was there . Perfect opener for an afternoon matinee at Lamb's Theater. Will do on repeat!

Cheryl V.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! The chef is very talented. The service was impeccable. Enjoyed the beef Bourgogne and it was delicious. My husband had the sea bass. Both prepared to perfection. Will definitely return to this adorable antique house.

Yelp
Was really looking forward to a French restaurant for dinner, this hardly makes the grade. To be fair, the escargot was probably the BEST I've ever had, but from there the restaurant goes downhill. The menu was reduced due to (seasonability???) with no mention online that the menus was subject to change. I tried the 'special' which was a lamb bolognese and was adequate at best. Hubby started with Steak Tartare, which I'm a huge fan of, but this was "meh" it also was chopped into bite size pieces, rather than ground (strange - even chatted latter with the woman next to us, who also ordered it and was unimpressed). Unfortunately, I took a few days to write this review, and neither of us can recall his dinner order. I definitely would say it could have been a bad night, but I don't think we'll be back.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was very exquisite, loved the flavors , very unique style of French cuisine. Service was outstanding, attention to every of our request and needs , Rachid E was very attentive to us the entire time , very knowledgeable and friendly , very respectful as well , true professional. The restaurant was very clean , spotless. Background music was low , good enough to enjoy it without losing the quality of a quite conversation.

Yelp
Came here on a whim. May be my new favorite restaurant. Everything we had was so flavorful, presented beautiful, and service was great. Ambiance inside and outside is also great. As a foodie myself, I highly recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Dan K.

Yelp
Food was average, scallops served room temperature like had been sitting out. No bread with salad, had to ask and came with main coarse. No ground pepper for salad. Overall , "meh"
google avatar

Lori S.

Yelp
Just excellent all around! We sat at the bar and enjoyed not only wonderful service, but the food and drinks were fantastic! Rachid is so great, so friendly, and we enjoyed every minute. Can't wait to come back soon!

Yelp
We took some friends here a few weeks ago and the food was fine but for $30 a (tiny) drink and $50 a (tiny) plate I expected a lot for than "fine." The atmosphere is very quaint, a tiny little house adjacent to a neighborhood in Coronado that looks to be straight out of a fairy-tail. The staff was very kind too although a bit slow as we often waited 20 - 30 minutes in between drinks. I understand this food is meant to be enjoyed at a slower pace and conversation is encouraged but 30 minutes to make 2 cocktails with about 5 tables occupied in the restaurant seems a bit much. Overall, there's many cheaper places in San Diego with much better quality of food but if you have tons of disposable income, don't mind average food, and want to check out some neat vintage architecture with a pretty unique ambiance then be sure to check this place out.

Oly O.

Yelp
It's a classic old house transformed into a quaint restaurant. Art the server and his team provided seamless attention and good guidance on the drinks and food. The food was good but not excellent and the stand out was the hearty short rib. Pricing was reasonable.

Rogelio C.

Yelp
They have a new chef, he comes from Michael Mina and Mission 19 and his Food is amazing, We order a lot; rib eye with mashed potatoes is probably the best I ever had, the octopus served with humus was unbelievable, and oh my god! Grilled oysters with bone marrow!

Petunia L.

Yelp
The owner is very hot and nice and the food is yummy. Def go here it is amazing and you wont regret it

Yelp
Such a disappointment. This was a go-to restaurant for me 20 years ago- since then I moved to France for several years. Now back in San Diego, I wanted to bring my French husband here for some good French food. Went there on Friday Jan 26th, the menu given to us bore no resemblance to the menu posted outside. Prices were nearly double. Apparently there is a new chef and a new menu. The starter "Brie and leek Quiche" wasn't. It was feta topped by a few strings of green onion. Their minuscule "confit parmentier" ($45) listed "pommes dauphinoise" instead of mashed. Yet was topped with mashed. In addition, it was obviously just reheated- the first one was cold so I sent it back, the second was hot- but was mostly skin and fat (and not crispy skin!). Hardly any duck meat at all. The arugula served as accompaniment was dressed in a spicy vinaigrette that was too hot to eat. So I didn't. The chicken cordon bleu ($33) looked and tasted like a Costco product.... I can't tell you about dessert- We couldn't wait to get out of there so we didn't order any. On a nicer note: Colin our server was great. He insisted on subtracting the confit despite my protestations. Can't recommend.

Yelp
I can't top the extraordinary gourmet dinner Tara Meltzer and I shared on our Humpday date night in Coronado. I highly recommend Chez Loma in Coronado. Our 4 courses included British Beef Wellington and Salmon Moroccan style and the best Brussel Sprout appetizer ever. Device was impeccable and the Victorian building of a restaurant was intimate and quaint. Thank you God for another amazing meal, fabulous perfect day and Your glamorous sweetheart I get to share this with.

Yelp
Sorry this place is lacking. Not very French. Been to quite a few and sadly this place is overpriced and lacking anything genuinely French. It could be so much better. It's like the Bar Rescue guy can come and help this business. See Marche Moderne in Newport Beach for inspiration. I think there's a better place down the street. Should have checked here before booking on Open Table.

Gaurav M.

Yelp
We were here on Sunday, June 16th for dinner just to try the place out. We were surprised by the quality of the food, drink and the service. We ordered the lamb chops, grilled octopus, grilled salmon and beet salad. Everything was cooked to perfection. This is the best french food I've had in Coronado.

Jonathan M.

Yelp
I was visiting friends in San Diego, and we stayed at the Del Coronado. We were walking around looking at menus when a nice man standing in front of this old avant garde looking house invited us to check out their dinner menu. We were hungry and decided to stay because of the welcoming invitation we received. Their menu is small, but everything we had was done very well, and our waiter (the young man who invited us to check out the menu) suggested some very great options. The grilled octopus was about the best I've ever had, served with hummus which was a unique but delicious pairing. We had USDA Prime ribeye suggested by Dallas, and it was to die for. He even brought us some great dipping side sauces served with the other steaks complimentary. My friend had lobster ravioli, and it was filling and amazing. This place is a hidden gem off the main drag of orange ave. What truly made it special was the service we received from Dallas! Thank you Chez Loma and we will be telling our friends about this place!

Cheryl W.

Yelp
The setting was very quaint and cozy. The menu had many delicious choices. Our server, Dallas, was engaging and personable. He was also very attentive! He added to a pleasant first time experience at Chez Loma. We plan to return to have the escargot which has been reviewed as excellent! Our overall experience was great food and great service!

Sarah J.

Yelp
Excellent service, nice ambiance in old house like building in town. Food is excellent with creative combinations. The waiter was great and his suggestions were spot on. I'd put the Crabcake as a top 3 I've ever had. It's fine dining that feels comfortable and not pretentious and tasted delicious. Fresh and fabulous. Thank you Chez Loma!

Yelp
Great simple French menu and excellent service. Love the area and how fresh everything tastes

Yelp
Excellent french cuisine and even better service. The staff were just wonderful. Try the squid appetizer. The wild shrimp and au gratin potato was excelling and the desserts were divine (molten chocolate cake and crème brûlée). After dinner, we were unexpectedly offered a ride back to the Del hotel in a golf cart for six passengers. What a great evening, made even better by the joyful manager and staff.

Yelp
Ordered the bistro burger with a side of kewpie horseradish sauce. it was delicious! the fries were very crispy and went amazingly with the horseradish. i poured the horseradish on my burger and it tasted amazing. i'm usually not a fan of onions on my burger but this meshed perfectly and didn't dominate the burger's flavor like onions usually do. we also had a caesar salad and potato croquettes. the caesar was pretty good, pretty standard for a salad, while the croquettes shocked me. i usually dislike potato-heavy dishes but this was great, especially with the sauce they provided. the pickled radishes were a very nice touch and elevated the flavor. i ate more than the rest of my family.

Yelp
My family went to celebrate my sister in laws birthday. Fantastic service. We had a fun mocktail and delicious meal. I had the filet mignon and literally have day dreams about it. Great ambience and service.

Yelp
This place seems to be trading on a no longer deserved reputation. Atmosphere: When we entered I could not help but notice an odd smell like old grease. The entry has very dirty carpet. On the way through the dining room I noticed the rest of the flooring was original hardwood, which might be beautiful if it were not covered with decades of filth and nondescript grey commercial floor mats. The upholstery was disintegrating. The seating is "cozy"/cramped. On the plus side, the wall next to our table was reasonably clean and the picture frames at eye level were free of dust. Food/drinks: I ordered escargot with bone marrow to start. It tasted good, had some perfectly cooked tiny tomatoes, and was topped with some excellent micro greens, but was a bit rubbery and surrounded by an overwhelming creamy sauce. The main course was overcooked salmon over undercooked risotto - very marginal. Same for dessert. We had a creme brûlée that had clearly been prepared much earlier in the day. My husband enjoyed his french onion soup and wagyu burger. I did have a nice glass of wine that was well priced at $13 and my husband enjoyed his cocktail, also well priced at $11. Service: Our waiter was pleasant and professional. However, when he asked how our entrees were and I responded "ok" he reacted as if I said it was great. Bread was not offered when we were seated. We asked for some and it came with the first course. We waited so long between the first and the main course that I was no longer hungry when the food arrived. Our silverware was changed, but crumbs were not removed from the table cloth between courses. I would have expected a little more attention to the details. For two first courses, two main courses, dessert, a cocktail and a glass of wine we paid $148 before tip. Overall, we did not find the experience worthwhile.

Yelp
I have lived in San Diego for 4 years and there have only been two restaurants that distinctly stood out during that time. Chez Loma is certainly one of the two. My fillet was perfect and the glaze/sauce used was excellent. The side of lobster mac was also very good. High quality food, beautiful location and excellent service. I rarely give 5 stars but they deserved it.
