Chez Lui Bistrot - Review - Notting Hill - London - The Infatuation

"While this gorgeous Parisian bistro is the perfect backdrop for a 10/10 I’m-cooler-than-you thirst trap during the day, it’s also an incredible wingman come evening. Once your eyes adjust to Chez Lui’s barely-on light bulbs, you’ll start to notice the single, flickering candle on each marble table and intimate-feeling corner seats that invite cosy conversations, and later discover the exclusive-feeling downstairs drinking den that begs for a nightcap. video credit: Rianne Shlebak photo credit: John Carey photo credit: John Carey Pause Unmute The polished Notting Hill crowd—On Clouds matched with Polo quarter-zips and fresh blow-drys—come in groups after having already started the party elsewhere. Friends scoot into the burgundy sofa seating and pick at excellent sea bass carpaccio and skinny golden fries until they run out of ketchup. But as good as the food is—and it’s pretty great—you’re here for the scene. And everyone, whether here for a fun catch-up with old friends or a third date they desperately want to go smoothly, is having a great time. RESERVE A TABLE Food Rundown Pain Chaud Et Beurre Au Piment D’Espelette This baguette is a risk for anyone with a loose filling. The ratio of crunch to crumb is seriously off, skip. PlayMute Carpaccio De Bar Aux Agrumes A delicate sea bass carpaccio that’s nice and citrussy. We’d order one of these for the table. PlayMute video credit: Rianne Shlebak Ravioles Del Plin Au Castelmagno, Truffe De Saison These ravioli bites are so soft and doughy that they lean more gnocchi, and the truffle sauce is nicely balanced and perfectly creamy that you’ll finish this moreish bowl in record time (ours was seven minutes). PlayMute video credit: Rianne Shlebak Poulet Rôti This roast chicken is tender, juicy, and comes in a nice meaty gravy. Get just this with some mash on the side for a seriously satisfying lunch. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Goujonettes De Lieu These glorified fish fingers are doing everything right. Crispy golden crumb, flaky fish inside, and a healthy drizzle of spicy tartare sauce all over. Oh, and they come with the best kind of fries: skinny, with a golden, 20-minutes-in-a-sunbed tan. Chez Lui is a charming French restaurant tucked away in the heart of Notting Hill. The atmosphere is wonderfully cozy and romantic, with beautifully arranged seating both upstairs and downstairs. The downstairs area is lit with candles and creates the perfect intimate setting. The food was beautifully presented and full of flavor, and the dessert came with a little show that added a touch of fun and elegance to the evening. The service was good, though we did have to wait a bit for the dessert menu and the bill. Still, the overall experience was lovely.

We had an absolutely fantastic meal at Chez Lui Bistrot last night. Boris had great energy and made wonderful recommendations to slightly amend what we’d ordered so that the combination went together better - he was right! This is a lovely new opening in Notting Hill, will definitely be back. Thank you for a great evening!

One of my absolute favourite spots in London so far! I was just walking past when the stunning interiors caught my eye—so elegant and inviting that I had to take a closer look. Since the weather was beautiful, I chose to sit outside and soak it all in. I ordered the veal and bean salad, and it was incredible—bursting with flavour and clearly made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Every bite was a delight. The staff were absolutely outstanding—warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive. Truly top-tier service that elevated the whole experience. I ended with an apple tart for dessert, and wow—absolutely to die for. Light, perfectly balanced, and the ideal finish to a fantastic meal. The pricing is very fair, especially given the quality of the food, the impeccable service, and the prime location. This has officially become my new favourite go-to in London—and it’s just around the corner from me! (P.S. Every other diner around me looked just as happy as I felt.) Thank you to Ali & Fedele.

I must say, I was impressed with this French bistro, the setting an ambience of the space is classic and the staff are very attentive and the service is top-notch. The food was absolutely amazing with some classic served in a very authentic and delicious way everything you would want from French food. The menu is minimal. We went for the chicken and steak and they were both amazing. The salad we got was also great and we really enjoyed our meal. They had candles on each table and the staff clearly take your service very seriously so that you can enjoy all aspects of your meal, it’s a great place to go on a romantic date or to get comfort food. The prices are fair for the food there is additional service but it’s probably worth it.

Fantastic dinner at chez lui this evening. First thing to say is that the staff are all brilliant. Every single member was so lovely, thoughtful, professional and knowledgeable about the menus. We had David and Ali serving us but everyone was incredible. The food was fun and sauces were brilliant. Hard to choose what to have as everything sounded delicious. We had lots of starters to share and then the veal and steak for main. The veal was beautiful and very delicate with a beautiful sauce. The peppercorn sauce with the steak was beautiful and the steak was perfectly cooked. The downstairs bar is beautiful too. We will definitely be back to try more from the menu!

Fantastic food from this cosy French bistro - our waiter Ali was so fun and attentive (he kindly turned the heat up for me as I was chilly, made recommendations and was present without being over bearing). The food was familiar but yet distinctly indulgent, and delicious. Unfortunately the cocktail bar wasn't open but the margarita I had was the excellent as were all the dishes we tried. Highly recommend.
