Chez Lui Bistrot - Review - Notting Hill - London - The Infatuation

"While this gorgeous Parisian bistro is the perfect backdrop for a 10/10 I’m-cooler-than-you thirst trap during the day, it’s also an incredible wingman come evening. Once your eyes adjust to Chez Lui’s barely-on light bulbs, you’ll start to notice the single, flickering candle on each marble table and intimate-feeling corner seats that invite cosy conversations, and later discover the exclusive-feeling downstairs drinking den that begs for a nightcap. video credit: Rianne Shlebak photo credit: John Carey photo credit: John Carey Pause Unmute The polished Notting Hill crowd—On Clouds matched with Polo quarter-zips and fresh blow-drys—come in groups after having already started the party elsewhere. Friends scoot into the burgundy sofa seating and pick at excellent sea bass carpaccio and skinny golden fries until they run out of ketchup. But as good as the food is—and it’s pretty great—you’re here for the scene. And everyone, whether here for a fun catch-up with old friends or a third date they desperately want to go smoothly, is having a great time. RESERVE A TABLE Food Rundown Pain Chaud Et Beurre Au Piment D’Espelette This baguette is a risk for anyone with a loose filling. The ratio of crunch to crumb is seriously off, skip. PlayMute Carpaccio De Bar Aux Agrumes A delicate sea bass carpaccio that’s nice and citrussy. We’d order one of these for the table. PlayMute video credit: Rianne Shlebak Ravioles Del Plin Au Castelmagno, Truffe De Saison These ravioli bites are so soft and doughy that they lean more gnocchi, and the truffle sauce is nicely balanced and perfectly creamy that you’ll finish this moreish bowl in record time (ours was seven minutes). PlayMute video credit: Rianne Shlebak Poulet Rôti This roast chicken is tender, juicy, and comes in a nice meaty gravy. Get just this with some mash on the side for a seriously satisfying lunch. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Goujonettes De Lieu These glorified fish fingers are doing everything right. Crispy golden crumb, flaky fish inside, and a healthy drizzle of spicy tartare sauce all over. Oh, and they come with the best kind of fries: skinny, with a golden, 20-minutes-in-a-sunbed tan. One of my absolute favourite spots in London so far! I was just walking past when the stunning interiors caught my eye—so elegant and inviting that I had to take a closer look. Since the weather was beautiful, I chose to sit outside and soak it all in. I ordered the veal and bean salad, and it was incredible—bursting with flavour and clearly made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Every bite was a delight. The staff were absolutely outstanding—warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive. Truly top-tier service that elevated the whole experience. I ended with an apple tart for dessert, and wow—absolutely to die for. Light, perfectly balanced, and the ideal finish to a fantastic meal. The pricing is very fair, especially given the quality of the food, the impeccable service, and the prime location. This has officially become my new favourite go-to in London—and it’s just around the corner from me! (P.S. Every other diner around me looked just as happy as I felt.) Thank you to Ali & Fedele.

Fantastic dinner at chez lui this evening. First thing to say is that the staff are all brilliant. Every single member was so lovely, thoughtful, professional and knowledgeable about the menus. We had David and Ali serving us but everyone was incredible. The food was fun and sauces were brilliant. Hard to choose what to have as everything sounded delicious. We had lots of starters to share and then the veal and steak for main. The veal was beautiful and very delicate with a beautiful sauce. The peppercorn sauce with the steak was beautiful and the steak was perfectly cooked. The downstairs bar is beautiful too. We will definitely be back to try more from the menu!

Newly opened and just what the area has been looking for. While surrounded by albeit great Italian eateries, this was so exciting to try. And it didn’t disappoint. 10 days new and while a few bits and bobs missing like the amazing bar area downstairs was short a few seats, who cares. Supply chain and delivery of things like that these days are so unreliable. Please don’t hold it against it. It’s a gem. Smallish plates meant you could try lots. Each cooked and plated beautifully. Perfectly portioned in my personal opinion. Clearly so much care went into each dish. We were told a few more items and wines were to be added at point soon but don’t let that stop you going now. Temporary small wine list is perfect. The cocktails were brilliant. La Parisienne to note. Front of house were all so lovely and friendly. Without it being too much. All super knowledgeable. We missed the name of one lady but she, Ali and David were all part of the package. You guys are so lovely. Thank you for making it special. Wonderful night. Thank you so much. Will be back.

The starters were really fresh, and the plating was visually very appealing. The mains were also very tasty — I especially appreciated the clever touch with the crunchy bacon on the all’Amatriciana. Having to crush it myself added a fun element of interaction with the dish, which I really enjoyed. The tropical fruits rum baba was absolutely amazing. I’d say it was the star of the evening — the sauce had a distinct passion fruit flavor, and when combined with the vanilla cream, it left a truly memorable taste. Service was friendly and warm throughout. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I will definitely be coming again!

I went to a new French bistro in Notting Hill and honestly, it was fantastic. The atmosphere is cozy and low-key, like a little slice of Paris hidden in West London. We started with some shared dishes and for mains I had the steak au poivre—cooked perfectly, super tender. Even the bread they brought out at the start was amazing—crusty, warm, and with their own butter (the good kind). One of those dishes that you think about later and wish you could eat again. For dessert, we had the dessert of the day (I didn’t catch the name, but it was creamy and light with pears) and it was just the right way to end the meal—simple, elegant, and so good. The service was friendly and relaxed, and the whole experience felt like it was put together with real care.

A wonderful & delicious new addition to W11. I ordered the fried artichokes to start followed by the steak, both were very tasty. Great service & gorgeous decor. I’ll be back!
