The 18 Best Bistros In Paris - Paris - The Infatuation

"Mounted boar heads and a seething taxidermied fox stare you down as you sip a natty glass—it was chosen by the waiter who’s a walking line list and just set down a marrow bone heaped with steak tartare. Are you at a wine bar? An osteria? A bistro? A fever dream? Chez Marius keeps you guessing, and that’s part of the fun. Tables almost buckle beneath the organized chaos of the meat-heavy Italian- and Asian-influenced small plates shared by groups of mostly locals. (Rehearse your “Je prendrai comme eux,” or “I’ll have what they're having,” in advance.) The housemade pasta is always excellent like the tagliolini coated in broccoli rabe sauce and generously dusted with ricotta salata, and the veal’s brain served in a pho-inspired broth heaped with fresh herbs is a must. The menu changes daily, so get ready to become a regular." - emily monaco

Our friend, a chef, sent us to this spot and it did not disappoint. The fried shrimp (eat the whole shrimp) and the mussels in wine sauce was outstanding. The steak dish was fine but nothing to rave about. Our server help us pick a wine and she was a delight to deal with. The entire staff was fantastic and friendly. We will ABSOLUTELY be back.

Little restaurant brimming with charisma and top of the game hospitality… set a very high bar for the rest of my five day trip as the first meal I had in Paris. It’s a lively spot but you could also have a slow quiet lunch there. The transnational background of the team made for a fresh take on some traditional dishes; seafood based dishes and the pasta stood out.

Absolutely wonderful, cute tiny restaurant full of passion for good food and hospitality. We arrived late in Paris, and stumbled across this place - it was after they were supposed to be closing up but they insisted on feeding us anyway. And I'm so, so glad they did. Food was lovely, simple dishes done perfectly. And the hospitality, so warm, great chats with the owner, lovely camaraderie between all the staff. A real gem

When you walk in, you're greeted like you're heading into an Italian grandmother's house. You take your seat and stare at the massive wine menu on the wall. The aromas from the kitchen waft into the dining area with wonderful fragrances. The owner or one of the employees brings over the board with the offerings for the night. You choose 6 or 7 and trust me you will want dessert. The buzz of the restaurant sets the mood for a party environment. The food arrives and it's simple and amazing. The flavors of everything are aromatic and transformative. The wines pair perfectly with what you order. You will be extremely happy you made reservations here. No instagram madness, no major marketing, just amazing food and a great atmosphere. The beef tongue, bone marrow and beef tartar, tuna fish and tomatoes, linguine, veal kidney with black truffles were all amazing. You need to go here when in Paris.

Cannot recommend enough! You feel like family here from the moment you walk in. It was all laughs and love in this place, followed by impeccable food from a small but thoughtful daily written menu. And despite the tastefully classic atmosphere, they have delicious affordable natural wine and inventive flavors! A true delight, repeat, cannot recommend enough!

Had a beautiful meal at this delight with my husband. We were so lucky to be accommodated as we hadn't made a reservation and the restaurant was packed. We are so happy to have eaten real authentic French cuisine and can't wait to go back. Lovely kind friendly staff that explained the menu and made great recommendations

Chez Marius is definitely worth a visit. Tasty and authentic French food in a cosy environment. It’s quite close to Gare de l‘est, so it’s perfect for enjoying a nice lunch or dinner before your departure or directly after your arrival. If you’re an early bird you’ll get a table. But be quick. We had bone marrow, fish, sausages and cheese along with a really good Chardonnay. I can absolutely recommend it!!!! 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Straightforward service and really yummy food (maybe the best fried zucchini flowers I’ve ever had). The french/italian menu has both decadent and comforting options, so you can choose to keep it simple or go hard and get tartare on bone marrow 😍

Yelp
Such a wonderful true local experience. It doesn't get much more Paris than Chez Marius. Great staff, they speak English but the menu is all French. Don't worry! The duck entree was amazing and so fresh. It was not farm raised, but sustainably harvested in the wild. So tender and great flavors. Wine was local and amazing.

Yelp
Chez Marius is a must eat at restaurant. We just happened to stop by for dinner without any prior knowledge and WOW!!! The food is fresh, made to order, and the wine selection is fantastic. The staff was also fantastic and very knowledgeable. This restaurant is family style, meaning you select multiple dishes and share amongst your group. Our first course was a perfectly cooked whole onion, was mouth watering. Our second course was a bowl of mussels, also yum. Our third course was beef tartar on bone marrow, arriving in a large bone cut in half length-wise, was fantastic. Our fourth course was pasta with lobster, very very good. For desert we had french toasty bread with a scoop of coffee flavored ice cream on top, you can say YES to that anytime. The wine selection took up an entire wall (with additional choices not shown) and the wine was chosen for us based on our food selection, which I liked a lot, and the chosen wine was so good. I can't say enough about Chez Marius, so enter and you will not be disappointed. Superior food that won't break your bank. I wished I had more time to spend in Paris just to be able to eat another meal at this restaurant.
