Iconic Rosemont Bar Chez Roger Announces Its Closure | Eater Montreal

"After 80 years in business, I learned the iconic Rosemont bar will close permanently after owner Normand Guérin—who has run the place for 20 years—announced on Facebook that the building owners' “obstinate refusal” to renew the lease on acceptable terms left him no choice. While he thanked staff and partners and acknowledged that the coronavirus crisis added strain, Guérin emphasized that the primary reason was the owners' refusal to offer lease conditions suitable for this kind of business; city and tax records identify the property owner as Richard Lalonde and management company Gestion Cellini, who appear not to have had notable disputes with tenants before. The closure makes Chez Roger among the first hospitality businesses to decide to shut permanently during the pandemic, even though the owner did not cite COVID-19 as the main cause." - Tim Forster

We enjoyed an evening on the Vieux-Port of Marseille with a breathtaking sea view. We ordered seafood and it was good, and the service was pleasant. The prices are on the higher end for this type of restaurant.

Excellent oyster, oven-lobster, clams. After lunch I was told by my friend their shrimp is the best, so I may come back again! Server has no smile, but in a busy and hot day, what can you complain? And he is super efficient. Love this place will come back again

Highly recommended! Despite some negative reviews I've read, they're unjustified. I had delicious seafood here, a nice selection of different oysters, and large langoustines. And on top of that, very friendly service. Definitely not a "tourist trap," but truly one of the better fish restaurants. I will definitely come back

We had such an amazing time here, superb location, we ate amazing food and we had so much fun. The staff is wonderful specially guy(g) we stayed for a few hours and we wished we stayed longer!! Best experience in a restaurant I had ever had in Marseille!! I will come back for sure! 100% recommend!!

Extremely rude and racist establishment. People should not support such a racist establishment and the food is actually so fishy and left a terrible taste in my mouth for hours. Everything tastes like salty sea water that's extremely fishy

Super simple. Fresh. Highlighting the seafood. Hot dishes are non existent. Can't really understand how'd anyone would have a problem with this place if you've done your research. Shellfish towers are reasonably priced and Devine. Great views and friendly service.

Great service! The muscles are DELICIOUS. Salmon tartare was really really good and fresh as well. I would definitely recommend Chez Roger.
