Sherbrooke Coffee Roaster Faro To Open Montreal Café | Eater Montreal

"After packing up its mechanical bull, the rowdy Mile End sports bar Chez Serge has moved south on the Main into the former Portuscalle space, taking advantage of a bigger footprint and even incorporating port-a-potties as an element of décor." - Tim Forster

This place is a gem. Incredible food, service, and atmosphere – you're partially inside and outside which gives a cozy vibe. They offer vegan dishes, and a truly French cuisine experience. Waiters were beyond attentive and accomodating. Do yourself a favor and come here to try it for yourself!

Fabulous dinner here , great service and a lovely atmosphere. We both had the pork fillet which was delicious and moist . It came with puffed potatoes and a pea puree . For desert I had an apple and pear , deconstructed Mille feuille, which again was great .

I would say that although the setting and ambience were great, the food and service mostly fell a bit short of expectations and the whole experience lacked a bit of that extra touch you usually get with tasting menus. There was no introduction or description of the dishes when they came, no grating of the truffles at the table or showing the table a whole truffle. The veal dish was excellent but none of the other dishes really stood out. We kept having to try and catch the staff’s attention to order more wine when the bottle was empty.

This is one of those little gems you come across while traveling. Chez Serge is already something of an institution, and you are almost obliged to visit when in Carpentras. Restaurant as such is located in a beautiful building and tastefully decorated (we didn't have the opportunity to visit next door Petit Serge). Food is good, even if servings are on the larger side, but hey, when is that a problem? Had a risotto for mains, very good, my wife had a stunning fish 🐟 and my son took the same lamb he had the day before (so good grades there!). I then had a lemon tart with merengue crumbles on top for dessert, but the lemon 🍋 taste was a little too explicit, almost sour. My son had chocolate with cream that, according to him, was "too big and too chocolaty" ... again, not a huge problem eh.. Service is a bit slow in the beginning and it's quite hard to get the attention from waiters. You really have to look out for them and catch them! As soon as you have been able to make your order, dishes arrive fast-food-place fast... A little too fast in our opinion actually! I dont know if it is that the place is small, has few seats and they want to keep a high customer turn-over, but I for one would like to sit a few minutes, sipping my wine, talking to friends a little, before food arrives at the table. The entire situation feels a bit forced, or even hurried or rushed when food is dished out within five minutes of having ordered it... That said, and all in all, a nice little place.

We only came to Carpentras due to the restaurant. This was a big mistake. Worst service ever! We booked our reservation 3 month in advance. Chez serge does not even bother to call or write confirmed reservation that they are exceptionally closed. The lady on the phone was rude and insisted that we had no reservation. The only thing here is the poor Mmanagement and hospitality!

Waited over an hour for our food, and when it finally arrived, every dish — regardless of what we ordered — was completely overpowered by truffle. Instead of enhancing the flavors, the truffle overwhelmed them. Felt like the chef used it as a gimmick rather than with care. Disappointing.

The establishment was very lovely tasted the complete truffle set menu and it was ok. The pasta serving was too much and cannot finish the plate

Serge is awesome! We went to his bar/casual dinning first, and he showed my wife to the restaurant himself! He also gave us the business card with his personal phone number written on it, and a magazine with his story. The food is also great! No wonder he is called the truffle master!

Yelp
Great food and the service was excellent. A definite gem in Carpentras! The proprietors Serge and Annie are truly delightful and incredibly gracious. If you like truffles, indulge in the tasting menu. If not, you can't go wrong with other choices. We stumbled upon this amazing restaurant and were so glad that we did.

Yelp
We went there for lunch. The service was fast and cordial. The food was fresh and really tasty. Prices were a little high, but I was invited, so no complaint there. We'd definitely be back!

Yelp
Very nice setting in an outside cosy courtyard. Beautiful decoration. And the food... Great menu with good value for money. Try the summer truffle menu it was great and that are very generous with the quantity of truffles you are getting. Dessert were also delicious.

Yelp
The food was fantastic, but the service not so great. There were three tasting menu options - a 27 euro, a 37 euro and a truffle meal menu that cost 84 euros. I ordered the truffle meal but asked if I could change the starter to a pescatarian option as I don't eat meat. Our waiter, with whom we had some difficulty communicating, said that was no problem. Instead of the truffle prix fixe meal, our waiter brought me a different meal (the 27 euro), did not say anything about the switch, but then tried to end it with the two final courses (the cheese and dessert) from the truffle menu (and presumably charge for the truffle meal). I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to a language miscommunication, so I had him bring out the menu and pointed to the meal he had given me. He finally agreed on the one he had given me (after a lot of back and forth), the 27 euro menu. In the end, however, when the bill came, he charged me for the 37 euro meal -- when I had eaten none of those menu items. He clearly knew what he was doing as we had gone through it with the menu in front of us. The experience left a bad taste as it felt intentional... It's a lovely restaurant with wonderful food, but just be careful when ordering and pay attention to your bill.
