Chez Sophie Montreal

We enjoyed a lovely meal at Chez Sophie. The tasting menu offered consistently interesting and flavorful selections and wine in a pleasant, upscale setting. A bit out of the way, but well worth it for a terrific experience.

Overall I would say this place is a two star for me. The food was good but not something that would bring me back. Bunch of things impacted this rating so it’s gonna be a long one. TLDR: bad seating, unremarkable apps, decent food, exceptional drinks, and good service. Would skip the apps next time. Starting with the not so goods… Seating was terrible, for a place of this price range and caliber they really shouldn’t have included the seat in front of a mirror next to the door entrance. Definitely big no no. We didn’t really think the appetizer was that great, the salmon dish was a bit everywhere and not consistent in taste. Some areas was super spicy other areas no spice. Some areas super salty other areas no taste. Avocado could’ve been a bit more ripe as well. Continuing with the bone marrow, it was pretty good until after a few more bites and you realized how soak in oil/grease/butter the bread was. It was like a greasy oil bath for the bread. Onto our favourites now… The drinks... Amazing drinks, I would comeback for the drinks alone. Tons of flavour and characteristics you can taste. The main dishes was good, you can tell it was quality ingredients and meat being used. I prefer my beef grilled normally but the way this was cooked and sauce was really phenomenal. Would try their other mains next time for sure. Overall, not sure if I would comeback again but it’s definitely worth a try if you never been here before. It’s a place where you’re paying premium price for a exceptional experience, but a place of this caliber and price range shouldn’t have a seating arrangement like that as it disrupts and impact the overall experience significantly.

Jennifer’s cocktail is the best cocktail I’ve ever had!!!!!!! I’ll suggest don’t order something on the menu but ask Jennifer to recommend one drink for you. Every time I went to western restaurant I will order one cocktail but none of them is good enough for me to finish. However I finished 3 cocktails here! Strongly recommend Apple Sour & After 8(after you finish the meal!) The meal is extremely tasty too! Duck spring roll & bone marrow are must-order!!

It was such a great experience! The service was exceptional and the food was simply out of this world. Everything was top notch. Food enthusiasts must try this place.

Pricey but excellent food presentation, great staff and service, and good food quality. About decoration there is a touch of middle eastern(more precisely say libanaise crafts)there. it’s a combination of french-middle eastern atmosphere. If you wanna treat yourself out to a nice service and good food highly recommended!

Service was excellent, from walking into the restaurant to finishing the meal. We loved everything we ordered. Greatly recommended!

Service above and beyond. Food excellent. Not many choices in the wine list under 100$ a bottle. Nonetheless we found something very good and enjoyed the evening.
