"Chi offers traditional and elegantly plated modern variations on traditional Chinese food. Chef Di Long adds delicate complexities to common Chinese dishes like walnut shrimp lightly brushed with cornstarch and steamed broccoli smothered in honey-sweet cream sauce with a hint of lemon. Long previously owned La Magie pastry shop, and her talent carries over to the dessert menu; don’t miss the pastry case on the way out if dessert wasn’t part of dinner. In the summer months, outdoor dining is available on a fenced patio. Once a month, Chi is also the only place to get house-made dim sum in Bend; keep an eye on Instagram for details." - Barb Gonzalez, Jeffrey Stull

My husband and I came from Coos Bay for a little trip and decided to stop because sushi sounded good. Ended up being the best sushi place we’ve ever had. Could not stop talking about it after we left. We will definitely make the drive just for this place. Wonderful service, amazing food, and great atmosphere.

Google
Chi is great. Very delicious and fantastic service. It's always busy, so the staff are always juggling people, but it never feels like it. They're all so good. We had appetizers and sushi rolls. The haystack appetizer was super good. Mushrooms and steak in a delicious sauce, they were the perfect bite. The Yakuza sushi roll was also perfect.

Google
Food and service are amazing. Our server Kristina was very knowledgeable and shared her favorites which are now our favorites. Every item we ordered brought delight to our palette. Wish we could eat it all. We will tonight. We were there during dim sum, so need to make a reservation.

David Takeuchi

Google
Super delicious. Everything. The sushi is made with real snow crab and fresh fish. Attentive and friendly service from Julie. Thank you!

Matthew Toepfer

Google
I like coming to CHI for sushi and cocktails. Their spicy margarita with avocado was really good, and the sushi was tasty. Wish they were open for lunch. Prices are a little high but the food was good! I would definitely come back!

Laurie Cima

Google
If I could give this establishment 10 ⭐️s I would! From the ambience, decor, food, 🍱 was a solid 10 out of 10. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. Our server seemed to be having an ‘off’ day but aside from that it was a most enjoyable dining experience. The varied flavor profiles were so exceptional. We made reservations for our next visit already!

Rey Gonzalez

Google
Great food and great service! Spent over $100 but it only seemed right because I had to take some to go! Haha probably coming back soon! Vibes where right and they have cool bar

Rachael Davee

Google
We went for a family meal to try the dim sum Sunday special and it was exceptional! Every item was delicious and carefully crafted. The shrimp stuffed crab claws, fried rice dumplings and pot stickers are shouldn’t be missed. The icing on the cake was an impressive selection of beautiful desserts that are very well priced. Can’t wait to come back!

Yelp
Good (Not amazing) food and ok service. Always busy and loud and takes a very long to receive your food. Probably a result of insufficient staffing. IDK

Yelp
I vacillated between 3 and 4 stars because this place can be great and then suck the next time. The food is delicious, the drinks are well made, and that is consistent. But, the service can vary wildly. The front desk is usually rude. If you have a reservation they will tell you, rudely, if you arrive 4 minutes late that your table will be given away if you are 5 minutes late (?). Sometimes you are greeted promptly at your table, sometimes you wait 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge you. Sometimes, you order sushi and it comes out in 10-15 minutes, sometimes you order and it takes 30 minutes and when you inquire, your rude server will tell you it has only been 10 minutes (?). I would never arrive very hungry, you may wait an hour for dinner. And, it is usually $150 for dinner for two with 2 drinks per person.

Yelp
Food was great, service is good unless you get BRADY. I'm not sure why Chi has him as a server. We were there for a nice Father's Day dinner (family of 6) felt like he didn't owe us anything because tip was included. Didn't stop to ask how food was or if we needed anything more, had to call him over and he was irritated by it. OVERALL the worst experience I could imagine, unfortunate.

Heather K.

Yelp
I never do reviews, so that's how upset I am. We have ordered here for years and the quality of service has declined, and it's so sad. We are disheartened. Our most recent delivery over $100, as always, and it came with no soy sauce, no chop sticks, no napkins... not the first time that's happened, unfortunately, but this time we're in a rental due to a busted pipe at our house, so we don't have those things here. When we called they said it would be 30 min to bring us the items that should've been included, but she'd speak to the owner. After she did, she called us back and offered us $5. When I asked her how she would eat sushi without soy sauce or chop sticks, she said "honestly I don't know." But here we are eating sushi plain with our fingers and I declined the "I don't care about my customers" $5. Bad on you Chi from your formerly loyal patrons... no longer patrons.

Sean R.

Yelp
Food is good, always has been. But they keep taking away from what they used to deliver. We've been ordering from them for years and all deliveries used to come with almond cookies, soy sauce and chop sticks. Then, arbitrarily, the almond cookies weren't included. Now, they don't include chopsticks or soy sauce. We called to complain and the person who answered (doing her best) let the owner know that we've had multiple negative delivery experiences and has asked for a make-good. Their offer? An insulting $5 credit. Moving forward, we'll stick with the best sushi place in town - Kanpai.

Jen K.

Yelp
The food was absolutely the best Chinese/Japanese food I have ever had. Drinks were so delicious. And the decor was inspired. I don't live in Bend , but I will be back. We ordered Mu Shu Pork Kiss of Wu Tang sushi roll general's chicken( with fried Tofu) Cooked to perfection!

Daniel And Estella P.

Yelp
Food, ambiance all good. However, tonight 6 of us 3 couples had dinner, visiting and having a good time. This visit to Chi was about our 5th time sharing a meal and drinks among friends. After eating and still having drinks the hostess came to our table and asked how long our conversation was going to continue? We were a little taken back . So after about 10 minutes we got up preparing to leave, still at our table, A young man swept in and started cleaning our table. On our way out we shared our concern with the hostess. She said the owner asked her to ASK us how long our conversations were going to last. We had only been there an hour and a half. Wow just wow. Im sure we won't be back.

Yelp
Originally popped in to this place just looking for a bar so I could get a drink. Upon walking in, the ambiance was great! Very upscale looking restaurant inside. From the outside you'd really have no idea what was inside. Pretty good size inside. Bar area was a good size. They have sushi chefs lined up overlooking the main area of the restaurant. I ordered a Hennessy and then decided to look at the menu. I decided to order a starter which was the Haystack, was $12.00.. and the dish consisted of enoki mushrooms wrapped with steak, pan seared, green onion, and a garlic sauce. OMG, it was soooo good! The sauce was a great addition to the steak and the enoki mushrooms. I then decided to order a sushi roll and I got the Dragon Lady Roll.. which was $16.00.. the roll consisted of tempura shrimp, cucumber, avocado, topped w/unagi, jalapeño, sriracha, and unagi sauce... When I tell you the flavors that hit my mouth were beyond amazing! And to be honest I never order Unagi, I didn't read it correctly and thought it was just unagi sauce.. it was so good, I'll be eating more Unagi from now on. Please try this place out if you haven't. I've found quite a few great restaurants in Bend and this is definitely one of them. They are on the pricier side, but definitely worth it. And the staff were also very helpful and all had great customer service. It was super busy in there too.

Yelp
We go to Chi about once per week, it's definitely our favorite Chinese in Bend. We like their potstickers, Yakuza roll, lo mein, Mama's chicken and broccoli beef. Their ambience is good and service is typically good as well. It does seem a little pricey for a Chinese food place but at least portion size is large!

Sheri B.

Yelp
This spot has a definite vibe, but I'm not entirely sold on whether it's worth paying for the ambiance. Maybe giving their sushi a shot will change my mind. It's clear there's a demand though - I arrived at 5 pm and there was already a line out the door when I left. So, who am I to judge? Time to explore further!

Brian O.

Yelp
We've been eating at Chi for many years and really love the new location and how much better it's laid out and the parking situation is so much better. The food is excellent and you need to try their sushi. The service is always outstanding with plenty of smiling faces and polite attentive staff. The ambiance is always laid back but definitely not lazy. We always enjoy our time at Chi and even have small family gatherings here with a reservation which is great and everyone can find an amazing dish that keeps us coming back.

Ron M.

Yelp
Came in because they were open. I had no idea how good this was going to be. The most tender bbq pork I have had in a long time. Their salt and pepper shrimp was fantastic. Their service was fantastic as well. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place. I will be back!!!

Douglas G.

Yelp
Good food, great service, very fun ambiance...Great job and great service from the staff

Andrew K.

Yelp
Ordered takeout and this is some of the most overpriced and unsatisfying chinese food I've ever had. 13 dollars for 4 dumplings. I am going to repeat that 13 dollars for 4 whole dumplings. You have got some nerve. 10 dollars for 3 spring rolls. Sesame chicken had a strange hot sauce like after taste (did not order spicy), soggy chicken not crispy. Mongolian beef was more like mongolian soup, grey bland beef in again a sauce that tasted like a hint of frank's red hot. BBQ pork lo mein was bland as hell. All this underwhelming food was 130 dollars with tip. A complete ripoff, just get some panda express it will honestly taste better and won't destroy your wallet.

Kylie R.

Yelp
This place is amazing every time. The walnut shrimp is my favorite but everything I've had here is great. The service is always amazing too

Margo V.

Yelp
I came here for my birthday and loved it. So far, Chi is my favorite sushi place in Bend. There wasn't a lot of variety of sushi to choose from, but even the simple spicy tuna roll was flavorful. We forgot to make a reservation and the wait would have been just over an hour, so we decided to sit at the bar. The bartender had a fun personality and gave us great service. They do little cakes for birthdays! We saw someone else with a little cake with a sparkler in it and asked about it. That was a fun end to our night.

Marin K.

Yelp
I've noticed the last few times I've been to chi the service is SERIOUSLY lacking. Sat at the bar, no silverware or napkins, even when our food came out...The bar tender or "bar back" had to ask us twice what cocktails we wanted. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but it was not a busy night. On a separate evening I went with family, slow service, server seemed uninterested, slow to no water refills. Unfortunate considering how expensive Chi is. Great service makes a great experience!

Carrie B.

Yelp
We've been to Chi when visiting Bend before but this was our first time at their new location. Reviews said it can be pretty busy so I made a reservation and got right in! Happy to report that they are still as amazing as ever. The food was delicious, our server was prompt and very helpful, and the decor is very modern. We ordered an assortment of appetizers and sushi and everything was delicious! We can't wait to go back again.

Ana C.

Yelp
The front desk employees are very incompetent. They don't know how to take orders and they loose them. Specially a guy with curly hair in the front he needs another type of job. The owner needs to I Prove the customer service and be careful who he puts in the front desk. They are not representing the business very well. I am. It going back and will not refer this place because of these employees.

Veronica C.

Yelp
Ok so this place is super flashy on their decor but I was disappointed at some of the customer service and the taste of the food. This place really makes you feel you're in a fancy place specially with its prices but the quality isn't there. When I first got there I was greeted by the hostess which she was really nice and told me there was a wait. I asked if there was a bar and they sat me at the bar. I was ignored by the two bartenders for a good 10 mins after I was seated and it's not like it was busy. They would literally go over me to the people next to me! I did the stare and nope, didn't work. The people next to me had a dish I wanted to know what it was so I waved the bartender which he thought I was ordering and I said "no, I just want to know what that dish is" and he answers (spring rolls on a sweet sauce) and I ordered it. Finally the people next to me paid and left and I was still waiting on the full menu (yes, the bartender didn't give me one when I ordered) and he comes with my appetizer and asked if I was ready to order and I said no, I don't know what to get and he realized I didn't have a full menu . He gave me one and leaves me to explore. I decided to go with the noodles with bbq pork. The spring rolls were good and the lo mein too but the pork was so dry it hurt my mouth . I'm not too crazy about this place. I will only come back if it's the only place near to where I'm staying. Come at your own risk.

Yelp
My party of 7 had a CONFIRMED RESERVATION at 6pm. I showed up at 5:45pm to check in. Checked again with the hosts around 6:20pm to see what the deal was. "Sorry we're running a little behind. Your table will be ready in 5 minutes..." Meanwhile other parties who had shown up after us were seated before us. By the time we finally got a table, we had been waiting in the (tiny) lobby for over an hour past our confirmed reservation time. The host said they would speak to the server and comp a few of our items to make the situation better. After viewing the bill, they did NOT comp anything. 1 star service when it comes to hosts/ reservations. Food was good. Server was nice and friendly. The table we sat at had a big lazy Susan making it easy to share food family style. Ambiance was pretty cool inside. But the treatment from the hosts left the worst taste in my mouth.

Steph A.

Yelp
There is a reason you need a reservation. Best Chinese we've had in our lives, any city. We were there at 6pm Saturday with a reservation and there were lines out the door. Hands down every dish was phenomenal and came out piping hot. The decor and open ceilings makes a beautiful space. Our server was busy and prompt. The best drink I've had in years the delicious Peachy, citrusy, frothy "Golden Girls". We ordered the appetizer plate, the crab Rangoon was the best thing I have ate in years. The appetizer plate has 5 different items each with a perfect accompanying sauce. We ordered a sushi roll which was great. The main dishes that we ordered to note: Crispy Orange chicken, so crispy, excellent sauce, an absolute must and GF! Mongolian beef stir fry was perfect and the pork fried rice. This will be added to the top of the MUST have list while in BEND.

Yelp
This place kind of makes me sad. $13 for (4) potstickers. $10 for (3) pre-wrapped mushu pork with a weird, gluey, gummy thick flour wrapper. $22 for pan seared noodles. and I think they charge another $1 for takeout containers and a fancy bright red resuable bag I didn't ask for. TOTAL= $46 (not including the gratuity) They are charging top dollar for maybe only slightly better than average Chinese food that is not particularly authentic or good. If you're okay with paying for decorations, ambience and fancier the usual takeout containers, you might be okay with this place. But if you've ever had good chinese food in the SF Bay area or other major cities or even suburban areas in Cali or on the east coast, you will be disappointed. Is it unsreasonable for me to expect authentic Chinese food in a former mill town in Central Oregon? Well...I don't expect authentic Chinese food here, but I do expect prices to be on par with the quality. Having said that..the number one obligation of ANY business is TO MAKE MONEY. So I can't really fault them for that. If this is what people in Bend want, well this is what we get. But I wouldn't bring my mom here. She would deifnitely say, "Aiyah". Sushi is good, although pricier than say Sora sushi downtown. Closer to Kanpai in price point but not quite the same level in quality. But if I want to avoid downtown or the puffy jacket crowd on the westside, I'll get my sushi takeout here without regret.

Anne L.

Yelp
For Bend it is pretty good. Super expensive and very popular on holidays and such. It's a very light way of making most of the dishes

Erin S.

Yelp
The service was lacking. They did not clear a single plate. They did not come back to get food nor drink reorders in a 2 hour timeframe. Food was good. Only reason I would give 3 stars

Carol B.

Yelp
Very nice place for special night out or have Yummy sushi. Our serves was great also.

T D.

Yelp
Support staff here (hostesses, water boy, woman at the dessert stand) were rude. Sushi (salmon) was nowhere near fresh. Smelled like a Vegas hooker's 5 day old panties. Food was mid and overpriced. Will not be going back.

Brian F.

Yelp
Was a big fan but reservation system continuously messed up and last 3 visits have been a s___ show. Front staff rude and lobby is overrun with people waiting for to go orders and people waiting for 45 minutes beyond their reservation time to get in. Food is good though.

Donna S.

Yelp
Tried Chi for 1st time tonight. -could only order online and prepay with credit card - "spicey " was tasteless - container of Kimg Pao chicken was 1/2 full, as well as the small container of rice Not worth the m ok money...very disappointing

Alyssa K.

Yelp
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Have never left a restaurant so dissatisfied and disappointed in my life. If I could give negative stars I would give the maximum negative stars allowed. The waiter did not pay any attention to my order. When it came up that I had not received everything I ordered, she called me out saying that I did not order what I said I ordered and that I was given wasn't my order but another person of the groups order. Was told I was incorrect with what I ordered even though everyone heard me order 2 orders of sushi along with the mamas chicken. (The waitress also went to talk to the other person and said she would comp it for him and get him another order even after I gave the plate to him after eating only one piece and apologizing because I thought it was mine) She was extremely disrespectful to me and everyone else at the table. This has been by far the worst experience I've had at a restaurant and we will not be going back due to the unprofessional, and disrespectful manner in which we were treated. When I went to talk to the manager I was told he is "too busy to speak with me" and then was informed the waitress we had was also a manager. She then confronted me asking if I had something she could help me with and I said no I will talk to the other manager. She then said "well then I can't do anything for you". I will be telling everyone what a horrible experience I had. The waitress was also very short with us while ordering and rushed us when ordering. I don't know what her name was but she said she was a manager and had blue ends in her hair. Very disrespectful and rude. Also very disappointed with how both managers behaved even though I hadn't done anything except to talk to them about what was going on.

Anne M.

Yelp
I believe this is one of the best restaurants in BEND but I become disappointed with their sushi rolls. They are rolling with half the rice basically you're getting seaweed and the fish. How costly is rice, may I ask. We noticed down sizing of everything I'd rather you raise your price slightly then make the portion smaller . We notice what you're doing cutting portion You will lose customers because of it..

Philip Y.

Yelp
This more like an Americanized Chinese restaurant with Sushi options. The Sashimi sampler was way too pricy, so I decided to order Something else. My picks were Saigon Spring Rolls and Twice-Cooked Pork Belly. The Vietnamese rolls was good, just the dipping sauce was slightly salty. The Twice-Cooked Pork Belly was prepared with cabbage, red pepper, scallion, Shitaki mushroom and carrots for stir frying. The flavor was okay and the sauce was kind of heavy. Ideally, the pork belly should be prepared with leek to bring out the best flavor.

Jackie M.

Yelp
We discovered Chi three years ago and LOVED it. Ate there multiple times a month. Then the prices started going up. Then the portions started going down too, so reduced our visits. Now the price is still high (2 appetizer + 2 entrees + Fried Rice for $89 before tip), portions are still small, and the quality is gone. Soggy spring rolls and inconsistently battered Sweet & Sour Chicken. Sad to say but this will be our last visit to Chi.

Gabriella W.

Yelp
I must start my review by confessing that I was having a major craving for sushi, so likely east to please. To start we ordered edamame which was perfectly garlicky. They had a great selection of drinks and our martini ordering members reported a fantastic cocktail. For dinner we ordered 4 different rolls. All were unique and full of flavor. The fish all tasted fresh. Presentation was amazing. To top it off excellent service and delicious cookies you can pick up at their bakery on the way out!

Gem T.

Yelp
We had a wonderful first time experience at CHI last Sunday. I have to admit, we were not very optimistic going in but left satisfied, happy and $100+ poorer as well. The decor and ambience was impressive. Food was fresh, well prepared and seriously delicious. We have a picky nigiri eater in our group and this is the only place in Bend that impressed her. So impressed she had 3 orders of Sake nigiri. Our server, Gina H was really nice helpful and very friendly. FYI, they have discontinued their happy hour until they are fully opened. Their prices for sushi/nigiri are a little higher than other places we have tried in town but I think it's worth it, quality wise (for special occasions). We'll have to come back and try other items on the menu. Items we tried : 1. Shrimp & vegetable tempura - delicious 2. - Sake nigiri -so fresh and so good 3. Oregon Coast roll - my favorite 4. Dragon Lady - pretty good 5. Spicy Tuna Roll - nothing special

Judi L.

Yelp
We've only gotten take out, but the food is always fresh and hot and very high quality! The chicken is always tender - which is so important to me!

Molly I.

Yelp
Not great. Got takeout. Sushi was salty and bland in flavor. Not particularly fresh tasting.... Honestly, had the oomph of a grocery store sushi experience. Wouldn't recommend....which isn't totally shocking considering we're in the high desert in Oregon... But still.

Kathy H.

Yelp
If you want to be treated poorly, this is the place for you. Looks nice, food is so so, it's very noisy, can hardly hear the person next to you, our waiter never came back to see if we wanted another drink, and they want you to dine and then leave asap to get the next patrons seated at your table to make their next $$'s, even if your visit is a short one. Since they don't open until 4:00 it's all about how many people they can serve as quickly as possible.

Sami E.

Yelp
Everything there including the ambiance was wonderful. Had a really great server, and the food was excellent. It's a little expensive but my friend and I just split some items on the menu and that worked out fine! Highly recommend.

Maryfrances G.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the people are even better! They helped us celebrate our engagement!

Lindsay W.

Yelp
I cannot believe i had never been to Chi until last year, but now it is a regular in our dining rotation. I am celiac so eating out can be tricky - many places just don't get it. So many options here that are gluten free- my favorite is the Orange Chicken (sorry my photo doesn't do its justice). The sushi is easily the best in Bend and the cocktails are incredible with the Thai Chi being my favorite. The portions are ample - the orange chicken always is enough fir the next day My friend got the cheesecake and said it was the best she had ever had! They do delivery, to-go and you can get desserts from the case in the front to take home.

David L.

Yelp
Very good food. The dumpling tower was incredible and super tasty. Very busy but the service was still great!

Kindra N Chris K.

Yelp
Honestly.... It's overrated. There are a few good dishes, and some flavorful items. But the portions are small for the price you pay. The restaurant is beautiful inside and makes for a nice date, but the food is subpar and leaving much to desire or a higher priced bill when you to purchase more to finally j l

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Amazing food! Get environment! Prices were good! The staff is great! Perfect date night!

Jetamio H.

Yelp
Just had the best sushi of my life here, I dont have a picture because I ate it so fast. The sweet mama I think its called was oh so delectable. So rare to find an affordable roll with real crab! The crab cakes were amazing too! Wish this place was open 24/7 to satisfy my every craving. The rasberry chocolate cake was perfect! Creamy, raspberry taste but still not too sweet. The caramel they make was so rich and delicious you'll have a hard time going back to giradelli chocolates. Id suggest sitting at the Sushi bar and watching them work, the chefs were very skilled, detailed and hardworking. Very friendly and good working vibes all around.

Mason J.

Yelp
Fantastic quality food and authentic Chinese flavors. Only downside was the long wait to be seated. Even with a reservation we waited an extra ~45 mins. Also when making the reservation they asked me if there was any special occasion, told them it was my wife's birthday. They didn't do anything with that information with regards to our meal or service. Wasn't expecting anything particularly special but not sure why they ask for occasion for no reason?

Ali S.

Yelp
I have gotten take out from "Chi" 6 times. The quality & quantity has continually diminished over the years. Last night the Mooshoo port was pre rolled & COLD (I live half a mile away, the order came straight from the kitchen). The egg flower soup was mostly the salty broth. If you order online, the "app" charges and extra $3 for a convenience & service fee. I called in the order to secure an allergy obligation & when I picked up the lame food, there was no $3 extra charge.

Dawn S.

Yelp
We ordered the chow mein at the bar. It was 98 percent noodles with a few scraps of grated carrots, half a green onion and scraps of indescribable green stuff. The chicken was very overcooked and dry. When we commented to the server about the lack of vegetables, she brought a small bowl (with our permission) of cooked but cold veggies ten minutes later but charged us $7 for it. I will try this restaurant one more time, ordering something else for sure. It seems to be a popular restaurant, the tables were about 3/4 full. The servers were very rushed.

Pam N.

Yelp
This review is for the sushi. We did not try the Chinese food. I hate to give such low stars, but I have to be honest. Really pricey joint for bland food. We ordered 3 sushi rolls and a crab purse (rangoon) appetizer. All three rolls were bland. The sushi rice was not even a bit sour and the fish was flavorless. It was really disappointing. The crab purse appetizer was really expensive! $15 for 5 tiny fried wonton purses that if it was a real coin purse could hold maybe 2 quarters in each miniscule bag. I bit into it and it was mainly cream cheese. For that price point, I hoped to have found some recognizable crab, but none to be seen. They gave a nice cloth to go bag with our takeout, but I would rather get a paper bag and a more substantial crab purse appetizer. I don't recommend it here if you've had good sushi elsewhere. You know it's bad when after you finish your meal, you wished you went to a fast food joint instead and saved yourself alot of money.

Jeff P.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Love this place. The food is not your typical panda express type Chinese food. Very high-quality with high-quality ingredients.
