The 38 Best Restaurants in Markham, Ontario | Eater

"This sister restaurant to Chiang Mai in Etobicoke brings the same sort of elevated and gorgeously plated Siamese dishes to Markham. It doesn’t necessarily push the envelope, but it presents the standards in fine form. The tom yum pad thai fuses two classics into one, while the khao soi is more than just photo-friendly. The space is also quite fetching. [$$]" - Faiyaz Kara

Loved every bit of our meal. Their service, taste of the food. Most importantly the presentation. We loved everything about the restaurant. The servers seemed to have enjoyed their work also take care of the guests. Would definitely be going again. The desserts were not 100% to the expectation but all other food exceeded the expectations. Pricing a bit more competitive would definitely motivate more people to visit frequently.

It was an amazing experience! The hospitality and food quality were top-notch. We were starving, and since nothing was open due to the snowstorm, we made a last-minute call to the restaurant. Despite that, the servers were incredibly accommodating, and the food was exceptional as always. I can’t wait to visit again and highly recommend it! I went to the Markham location, and everything was truly first-class.

After a relaxing head massage, my wife brought me to Chiang Rai Thai Kitchen and Bar in Markham, and it was a fantastic choice. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm and attentive, making us feel truly welcome. The food was outstanding, with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors in every dish. We tried a few different items, each beautifully presented and packed with bold Thai flavors that didn’t disappoint. Prices were very reasonable for the quality, making it easy to enjoy a great meal without breaking the bank. Overall, a wonderful dining experience we’re already looking forward to repeating!

I came in hungry, left in love...with the food. Let me just say, the Pad Thai here isn’t just a meal; it’s a hug for your taste buds. Seriously, who knew noodles could spark this much joy? The ambiance? Perfect for someone like me who enjoys eating in a place that makes you feel both worldly and comfortably at home. The decor is chic, but not so chic that you feel like you need to whisper while chewing. The staff? A+ for their patience, especially when I had a minor existential crisis deciding between the Green Curry and Red (Spoiler: I got both because life’s too short to make hard choices at a Thai restaurant.) Pro tip: Don’t skip the mango sticky rice for dessert. It’s like a sweet lullaby after a spicy tango. All in all, this place didn’t just feed me; it nourished my soul—and gave me enough leftovers to keep my fridge happy too. Can’t wait to come back and “research” the rest of the menu. Highly recommend!

Chiang Rai Thai Kitchen is seriously my favorite spot for Thai food! If you’re craving something authentic and full of flavor, this place needs to be on your list. The vibe is super cozy and relaxed, so it’s perfect for a low-key lunch or a chill dinner with friends. My go-to is the Famous Pad Thai, and it totally lives up to its name. The noodles are cooked perfectly, and the sauce is that sweet-savory balance with a little tang—exactly what Pad Thai should be. They finish it off with crushed peanuts and a squeeze of lime, which just takes it to another level. I usually get it with chicken, but they’ve got other options if you want to switch it up. Funny enough, my boyfriend used to think authentic Thai food was basically Thai Express, but after coming here, he’s completely converted and won’t touch it now. Safe to say Chiang Rai changed the game for him! The staff is super friendly, and they really know their stuff. They’re great at helping you pick something new if you’re up for it, and it’s just one of those places where you feel welcome every time. If you’re hunting for some legit Thai food, you’ve gotta check out Chiang Rai Thai Kitchen. Whether you’re all about that Pad Thai life or want to explore more of the menu, you won’t regret it!

Google
Came for a birthday and the food was amazing, the portion sizes are huge! It was great for sharing dishes and we left with plenty leftover for another meal. Lots of value for what you get! Service was awesome and the Thai Iced Tea was to die for! Will definitely be returning with more people for sharing. Favourite dish was the pineapple fried rice with beef!

Google
Came here for an early dinner and this place was beyond our expectations! To start, the dishes were beautifully arranged, very cute and creative. Calamari was crispy and delicious, the cashew chicken and chicken pad thai were so flavourful and cooked perfectly. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Interior is clean, although the floor is a little slippery so do be careful if not wearing non-slips. Definitely coming back to try their other menu items!

Google
Brings me straight back to Thailand. Absolutely delicious Pad Thai. I could this every day honestly. Aside from the fact that the food was delicious the decor and atmosphere was just like back in Bangkok. Staff was super attentive and very nice too! Portion was so big I had to get a take home container. For the shrimp pad Thai it came out to $26 - a steal for quality, quantity, and service.

Yelp
I was already impressed with my first visit to this Thai restaurant at the North York location, so when I found out there's a Markham location, I knew I had to try. All the dishes we ordered were so flavourful, the presentation was on point, and considering the portion and how much protein was included in each dish, the prices were very reasonable. We tried dishes with curry flavour, Tom yum flavour, and soy sauce flavour, and honestly I couldn't pick a fav cause they were all so good and different! The mild spice level was also perfect with just a little kick. I would highly recommend this restaurant and make sure to make a reservation. We came on a Monday night and it was almost fully packed! It was a little loud though since there was a few large parties there. Visit Jess.feed.me on instagram for more food adventures!

Yelp
I am a huge Thai cuisine fan ! And I have tried many Thai places , however , CHAING RAI is phenomenal by far the most flavourful mouth watering dishes I have tasted in a while. The aroma itself when you enter takes you to Thailand ! Do yourself a favour and visit this wonderful restaurant

Yelp
This restaurant is located in a small plaza which is very hard to find parking especially during lunchtime as a lot of spots are reserved. I came here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy but luckily we didn't have to wait for long to get a table. I ordered the pad thai w/beef (mild) and a Thai iced tea. My friend got the khao Soi, and we shared a sweet potato fritter. The pad thai was very flavorful and saucey. I loved it however I think it was a bit pricey for $21 The sweet potato fritter was extremely crunchy, I wasn't a big fan of it as I got really thirsty after eating it. Overall, the service and food was great. The waitress was tentative to our needs. It's a nice restaurant with nice decor. The only downside of it is it's usually hard to find parking. I would certainly come back again.

Yelp
I actually visited this place twice, with the most recent time being a week ago. Food: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 5/5 I came with my partner and two friends for dinners it was on a Thursday evening. We ordered a couple of appetizers and one entree each. I had the pad thai with the highest spice level The food was great, except for the roll. Because we opted out of the shrimp inside the rolls, I felt like a horse munching on grass. There was no flavour and the whole thing was dry. The sauce was somewhat of a saving grace, somewhat but not that much. The pad thai was really flavourful on the contrary, although I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't spicy enough. My partner ordered the pineapple fried rice with the same spice level and somehow it was a lot more spicy than mine. Maybe the spice just hits rice different to noodles? I have no clue. The servers were extremely attentive, coming to refill our waters constantly, which was a very nice gesture. Overall great place, though I'd steer away from the appetizers especially given the price point.

Yelp
Update recent visit. We came here with my wife's family. We recommend making a reservation as the restaurant is not very big. The food was really good and presentation on point. Nice heart-shaped mold for the jasmine rice. Royal pad thai and the Drunken noodles were really good. Nice diverse flavors. Medium spice is the right level for these noodles. The pineapple fried rice with beef was a masterpiece and almost every table ordered it The service was nice. They used an iPad to enter the orders. The food came out pretty fast. Crispy chicken was addictive. It's kind of like a Thai version of chicken karaage. Nice ambiance and bright dining space. I have referred lots of family and friends to eat here. Definitely try this restaurant if you're looking for some elevated Thai food with beautiful presentation.

Yelp
Seems to be the same or sister chain as Chiang Mai! One of my favourite Thai spots... Overall: 4.5/5 Food: Beef Salad - 4.5/5 so flavourful for a salad, I loved it. Tender and juicy beef with the lettuce made it a great balance. Coconut rice 4.5/5 I love coconut rice with my food and they did it just with the right amount of sweetness! Khao soi with beef 4/5 very flavourful and tender beef; the sauce was delicious, would definitely recommend it. Green curry: 4/5 very tasty and one of the better green curries I've had in Toronto. Pineapple fried rice: 4.5/5 love the aesthetic and flavour of this dish! Went so nicely together with the subtle sweetness of the pineapple along with cashews and chicken. Service: 5/5 very friendly and patient staff. We stayed a while and nobody rushed or kicked us out. Ambiance: 5/5 Authentic vibe and just a perfect ambiance for Thai food!

Yelp
Thai Cuisine with upbeat atmosphere, transforming your experience to one of south east Asia. I've never been to Thailand but I've seen many YouTube videos and consumed enough social media to know that Thailand is a hustling and bustling country. Like Vietnam you've got the sounds of scooters scooting, vendors selling, cars passing and people trying to make a living on a daily basis. The restaurant is busy, Monday evening nonetheless and it is packed at 7:30 in the evening. Diverse crowds are in the space and the aroma of lemongrass fills the air. Service was exceptional. Our hostess initially seated us at a tiny table for the 5 of us but gladly accommodated us when we asked to move to a bigger table. Food: Rich, creamy, crunchy, aromatic, spicy, sweet, flavourful. Tom Yum soup: portion was on the smaller side for our table but enough to share since we ordered many dishes. Broth was flavorful and very aromatic. Good combination of sour and sweet (but more so on the sweet side). Preference personally is more of a combination of more sour than sweet is what I'm used to (maybe I've never eaten authentic thai but I love sour notes) as a Spicy beef salad: beef was well seasoned and marinated, the presentation of the dish was very well plated. The salad was a spring mix which I enjoyed but felt something lackluster in this dish. Panang curry with Beef- good balance and blend of flavours and aromatics. The amount of herbs used was enough and the portion for this dish to share was similar to the Tom yum soup. Dish is paired with steamed white rice. Chicken wings - crunchy, hot from the deep fryer, no need to dip in the sauces it comes with as the wings are juicy and flavorful enough on their own. Khao soi shrimp - rich and creamy with the use of the coconut oil. The noodles were chewy, presentation was very well done and the thickness of the dish was a nice contrast to the other dishes we ordered. *this dish is super rich. It will fill you up just be mindful if you want to try other dishes! Pineapple fried rice - my favorite of the evening. The wok hay and essence of the flame can be tasted through each bite of the rice. Smoky and aromatic. Balanced. Salty. Hostess was right this is a fan favorite. I'll come back to try the pad thai and pad see ew and the other dishes but overall great experience

Yelp
3.5/5. Came as a group of 3 and we ordered 2 apps and 2 mains. It was more than enough food and we even had leftovers. The apps were ok meaning nothing stood out. The spring rolls were freshly fried and crunchy but the filling was bland. There was nothing special to the chicken satay either. The mains were delicious though, Islamic noodles and tofu/vegetable fried rice. Great presentation and every bite had amazing flavour. Each dish had a little kick to it spice wise and the hot sauce on the side was very tasty as well. The complaint I have is the service. When we called to inquire about making a reservation/ walking in, the person who answered the phone was very rude. In addition, it felt like they were rushing us in and out. Reminding us of the 1 hour and 20 min seating limit. I understand it's busy but good service is apart of dining in. The food was good but I'm not sure I'll be back, considering there's many good Thai places with better service out there.

Yelp
MAKE SURE TO DOUBLE CHECK YOUR BILL!!! Came here on a weekday with a group of 3 for lunch. We were seated quickly. Overall, everything tasted authentic and wonderful. Service was friendly and helpful. However, be sure to check your bill - they charged us a drink which we didn't order. While it could be a genuine mistake, it's always a good habit to double check and not get "scammed". Ordered the following: Chicken satay - 3/5 Tom Yum Soup w/ shrimp - 3.5/5 (portion was way too small for the price it's asking $11) Red curry with beef and bread - 4/5 Pad Thai with chicken - 4/5 Mango sticky rice - 4/5

Yelp
Pretty good and cozy Thai spot in Markham. Service was quick and they were attentive. Food was also tasty. We ordered pad kra pao, pad Thai, and khao soi along with a few drinks. The drinks were a bit sweet for my taste but they were not bad. The kra pao was a bit salty but had a good flavour to it. I was hoping for more basil though. The pad Thai and khao soi were decent. Overall, the experience was great and would definitely visit this place again.

Yelp
I came here on a Monday, The service was good and the food came out in a faster than I expected rate. I got: - penang curry chicken - pad Thai chicken - khao soi beef The bill was $67 before tip I would come here again but not order the penang curry. I took leftovers home and tried to eat it on Wednesday (2 days later) and the curry texture completely changed. It was slimy and goopy. Wasn't appetizing and I had to throw it away. Imagine like okra slime. I called the restaurant and they said it may be because of the coconut milk or the chicken that'll make it slimy? But it's safe to eat apparently. Regardless I didn't feel happy with wasting food.

Yelp
Chiang Rai is one of Markham's most popular Thai restaurants. The restaurant itself looks like a tropical paradise, with beautiful murals and pops of colour here and there. Service is good, however I did come once and I think the server forgot about my food, and I ended up waiting almost an hour to eat while all my friends got their dishes. However, this thing happens from time to time so this incident is not an indicator of their service as a whole! I've been here a few times and nothing has ever missed so far. This time, we ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and the Shrimp Pad Thai, as well as Thai Iced Tea. Both Pad Thais were ordered mild, but it was still pretty spicy (my spice tolerance has become pretty low though)! Amazing flavour, with some added crunchiness from the peanuts. Also thankful that they provide lime for an added element of tanginess! Portions are quite large as well, I'm always taking almost have of the plate home! The Thai Iced Tea was decent, on the sweeter side for my taste. Next time I'll definitely be ordering some of the side dishes to try out! This place does Thai food justice! Especially for those who have never had Thai before, I think Chiang Rai is a good place to start. Can't go wrong with a classic Pad Thai!

Yelp
I came here with a group of friends and waited for an hour to be seated. We were surprised since it was a Sunday evening but took it as a good sign that the food would be good. We got the sweet potato fritters, shrimp spring rolls, papaya salad and a fried rice. The dishes were on the sweeter side that I preferred but the flavour was all there. I also appreciated that they don't shy away from spice. We were looking forward to the tamarind beer but sad that it was no longer available, and apparently hasn't been for a long time. I'm not sure why they don't cross it off the menu since I imagine they get requests for it often, given how unique it is. Another thing to note is that they are safe for those with celiac. There is parking in the lot outside.

Yelp
Shrimp rolls were decent. They had a lot of shrimp but were a bit small for the price. Islamic noodles (chicken) were good: they were rich with coconut milk & umami flavour. Beef panang was good: rich & a little spicier than Islamic noodles. They don't serve pork here.

Yelp
Very tasty food great flavours! Staff are very helpful fast pasted. Ambiance is hipster modern Massaman curry lamb- Great flavours Royal Pad Thai- Vermicelli style noodles. the tamarind sauce was very tasty Tomyum soup Ask for the house chili oil

Yelp
The food is tasty and served with great presentation, service was also topnotch. They are truly a place to try for people craving for Thai cuisine.

Yelp
Chiang Rai has become the go-to Thai restraunt in the area. They good decently good food, but some do outshine other dishes on the menu. The amount of people who are willing to wait for the restraunt is a testament to their food quality. There is no doubt that I will be coming back again, but trying out new dishes might now always yield a satisfactory meal. Sweet potato fritters - Still very, very good. Crispy sweet potatoes with a sweet chilli thai cause and a tamarind sauce. Both very tasty, would recommend! Tamarind beef with rice noodles - The flavour of the tamarind beef is very flavourful, almost too much flavour. I wished that they incorporated it into the noodles and made the stirfry or fried rice out of it. Would only recommend if they allow to do a quick stirfry of the carbs.

Yelp
Great portion and tasty!! We came here in a group of 3 during lunch hour on a holiday and we were seated immediately. I've seen friends visiting this spot a few times on Instagram and wanted to find out if it lived up to the hype. IT DID! They don't cheap out on proteins, you can a good amount of meat! Our favourite was the pineapple fried rice. It was refreshing and full of flavour. We didn't order any appetizers and left with full stomachs.

Yelp
Location/Service This place is right in the corner plaza of Kennedy and 14th Ave. Because there are other restaurants within the plaza, parking can be very limited. Interior is pretty modern - similar layout and feel to other modern style Thai restaurants. Service was great, staff were friendly - in particular for take outs, which was very organized and easy to order/pick up. Food I've been to this place a few times for take out mostly - during the pandemic they had pretty good deals. A few items I would reco is their Pad Thai or Pad See Ew. It's very flavourful and very good portion size. For takeout, you can choose your choice of protein - whether it's soy or chicken or beef or seafood - that is extra, so just need to note. Their mango sticky rice is also good if you like desserts - again, good portion size. With inflation, prices have gone up a bit for this place - so a standard meal is almost $20. I do think it's worth it based on the solid consistency and portion size. Indoor dining is always a bit of a wait, so I usually opt for take out if you feel it's easier!

Yelp
On a Friday night, we waited patiently over a hour for a table for 3...luckily we had a great experience so it was worth the wait! Be sure to make reservations as this place seems to be always busy. I did call to make reservations but they said that they didn't take reservations for less than 4 people. I only found out when I got there that you could make reservations online so I'll definitely book a table in advance next time. We came here craving for curry and we were very satisfied with both the Green curry chicken and Panang curry beef. My fav dish was the Royal Pad Thai which was quite flavourful with glass noodles. I much preferred this noodle dish over the rice noodles which they had as well called Famous Pad Thai. We really enjoyed all the Thai food so we'll definitely be back.

Yelp
We went for lunch. Surprisingly they did not have a lunch special but anyway, we ended up getting stir fry veggie with chicken and Tom Yum chicken fried rice. Both of them were really nice and the service was fairly good. They did mess up the order I did order chicken stirfry veggie and got tofu instead.. But it was OK place is nice and vibrant with lots of light and also interesting drawings

Yelp
This place is popping! On a Friday night around 7:15pm, we waited approximately 20-25 minutes for a table of four. I ordered the tom yum pad thai and our table shared a fresh roll (6pcs). The pad thai spice level can be picked from mild, medium, and up. I went with medium and wow my tongue was on fireeeeeee. I also have a low spice tolerance so... haha but I enjoyed the kick. The noodles were done well and I enjoyed the tom yum flavour. The fresh rolls were indeed very fresh. I probably would not get it again though. There was a lot of bell peppers inside. Might try their other appetisers next time. Our table also got the royal pad thai which was very interesting. Glass noodles instead and it came wrapped in an omelette style egg crepe! Overall the portions were huge and flavours were good. Will be back!

Yelp
I work 1.5km from Chiang Rai Thai Kitchen and drive past it almost every day, yet I've only eaten there once, when they first opened three years ago. I don't know why I've been denying myself their delicious Thai food. Don't ask me to explain it. I can't. I recently stopped in with my friend, Jennifer, to celebrate her (belated) birthday. We feasted on their delicious, authentic Thai food and it was all delicious! We started with the Spicy Beef Salad, before moving on to Pad Kra Pao (Holy Basil) with Tofu, and Pad Ki Maw with Chicken. Every bite was delicious! Of course, what's a birthday celebration without cocktails? She had the Chiang Rai Aloha and I had a Classic Mojito. Both were very refreshing. Happy birthday, Jennifer!

Yelp
I've driven pass this place repeatedly and finally decided to give it a try, after the insistence of someone. I am not a Thai food fan so I hesitated. On arrival, the place was full even though it was a Wednesday night! We were fortunate to be able to get a seat right away. The place had a good energy about it. We were seated at a high table which fine, however, the stools could have been more comfortable. The seat was small - but not a major problem. As we don't usually have Thai, the wait staff was more than happy to assist with descriptions and explanations of the dishes and flavours. We ordered the Famous Pad Thai with chicken and the Tamarind beef stir fry. Both dishes were very good. The serving size of each dish was very good. Both dishes were beautifully presented. I also saw the presentation of other people's dishes and they were lovely. For the tamarind beef stir fry , you had the option of regular or breaded. I went with the regular. You also chose the spice level. The beef was tender and good balanced flavour. The pad thai was also well done and the taste was good. It was my dinner partner's birthday and they gave him a birthday dessert at the end!! That was a nice surprise. That was yummy - yes I had a piece. :) Service was very attentive. I was impressed.

Yelp
Overall a 4/5. Came with a group of 6, waited about 40 mins for a seat. Once inside, we all ordered the pad Thai and one had the pad see ew. 10/10 on flavour, portions were a bit odd. My friend next to me got the same thing and her plate was full and mine was less than half, but still 10/10. It was very very busy and they had a ton of takeout orders so we waited about 25 mins for food to come out and even then it came out separately. There were nice enough to mention rust they will comp is for the wait with desert. Once we were done eating, the waitress brought out one tiny piece of cheesecake, so that was disappointing , but nonetheless, I would come back for the food.

Yelp
Adorable restaurant with amazing food! Ambiance: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Food: 10/10 I must say I am impressed! What got me coming here is the first time I went to their sister restaurant Chiang mai in Liberty Village to have some pad thai and absolutely loved it. So when I found out there is a sister chain close to home, I had to go dine here. The restaurant on the outside does not look the most appealing place to be dining at, but the interior is what is super adorable. They had seasonal decorations up already, halloween themed for the month of October. There's booths and high tops for dining and a bar area. Service was great, they were attentive and was quick to bring me my food and drinks. Onto food: Thai iced tea 8/10 There's no adjustments that could be made with this drink. Asked if i'd be able to get it less sweet, the answer was no. Still pretty good though, not too sweet, it's still a pass! Fresh rolls 2/10 I wanted to like these so badly but unfortunately this did not pass for me. Perhaps I should've added shrimp for some extra $ but I just wanted the veggies. It's beautiful, don't get me wrong, but it sort of tasted like dirt. And I know exactly why it tasted like this - some of the leaves were starting to go bad. So wrapped into the the fresh roll, you could really taste it and it was not very pleasant to eat. Chicken pad thai (mild spice) 10/10 Love love love. I love pad thai and this one was really great! Super saucey, just the way I like it. Sweet, salty and tangy all in one. Mild was not spicy as all which was great and what I love also. When the peanuts and bean sprouts are mixed together into the dish you get the perfect bite. Make sure to get this dish as it won't disappoint at all! Chicken pineapple fried rice 9/10 A little bit on the wetter side for a fried rice but it was so delicious. Chunks of pineapple, cashews, chicken and rice - YUM! I really can't wait to come back to eat more pad thai here. Trust me - don't share it. Have it all to yourself!

Yelp
Solid solid solid. Tom yum pad Thai was a nice twist on the conventional and I recommend. Fish cake flavourful but consistency is extremely soft and not crunchy. May not be for everyone but I enjoyed it. $14 for 4 fishcakes is expensive though. Husband liked the wings but $18 for 1 lb is a bit steep. The appetizers are expensive. Loved his basil beef dish. Rich sauce. Pineapple rice was the winner.! Loved this and the presentation. $100 for dinner for two ( appetizers and mains only) without drinks. Again, overall prices are a bit steep compared to most other Thai places but quality is pretty good. Would recommend but just understand you'll spend money. I also found the 1hr 10 min seating cap for a Monday night was a bit heavy handed. Feels a bit " rushy" which I did not appreciate. They told us this as they were walking us to our table. Not sure if they make adjustments for larger groups but I would imagine they do. I still don't like this policy though. I feel like a number rather than a customer. Food comes out lightning fast though. Decor is nice and good for large groups.

Yelp
4.5 Great quality Thai food here! They have halal meat which is awesome. Lots of authentic dishes. I liked the pad Thai, but the Islamic noodles were my favourite! Such a unique and flavourful dish with coconut milk base. Can't get enough! I will definitely be back again.

Yelp
This place has improved significantly since the pandemic started and it's about time to give this review a new update. This has become a new favourite of ours when it comes to Thai food - it doesn't disappoint. The quality and taste is great, authentic and most importantly, consistent. Whether its a date night with the husband, or girlfriend, or a group of friends or family, the ambiance is perfect for any outing. The presentation of the dishes are also social media friendly. The only downside is the parking in this plaza can be challenging during busy hours. They also advised us that reservations are not accepted for parties of two.

Yelp
It would have been a Solid 4 ,authentic Thai food with relaxing atmosphere. The food are good quality and beautifully presented!. Service wise is what bring this place down. We came in before 4pm and it's only one table occupied, and the waitress sent us to the table next to the washroom, and we asked her twice for another table, she's not very happy to accommodate our request. When we start ordering the food, since this is the first time here, we were hesitating between different options. And the girl showed very impatient said she will come back when we decide.. And they were gathering together chatting loudly when we were dining. Staff really need training for customer services. The other complaint is that I always love the Basil stirred fried eggplants at other Thai restaurants,so I was trying to get the same here. The waitress suggested we can order the eggplant at additional cost, so I take her suggestion. It turned out the additional cost only give me 3 tiny pieces of eggplants, what a disappointment! We ordered : 1.sweet potato fritters, crunchy and good portion 2. Pineapple fried rice: nicely presented , tasty, for me it's a little bit too sweet 3. Basil Stir fried beef : excellent 4. Panang curry chicken- excellent, Creamy with coconut milk fragrant and red curry

Yelp
Pretty small restaurant but food is not bad. Serving portions are ok abs taste is a bit on the salty side. Quick service. I enjoyed all the dishes I ordered such as the pad Thai, mango sticky rice and green curry.

Yelp
Ordered the Khao Soi, sooo creamy and good! Perfect portion and similar to the one I had at pai. I wished it was slightly more spicier though. In addition, I ordered the Tom Yum soup. I loved the soup! But I wished it was bigger, the dish looked big but the portion was slightly smaller. Presentation was fancy but literally ate three bits and finished it. lol Overall love coming to this place! Great Date place!

Yelp
I mean... What more is there to say, seriously? LOOK AT THIS PRESENTATION. The food looked so good I didn't even want to eat it, like I felt bad for destroying such a masterpiece. After eating, I thought I had people spying on me from there on out. In all seriousness, great meal. It's amazing to eat art like that. You can't call that food, it's art. I couldn't believe the flavor's going in my mouth. If you ever see anything less than 5 stars, they're automatically disqualified. Service was amazing and location is perfect (because they're across the street from me) 5/5

Yelp
Came here on a weekend for lunch. Ordered the Khao Soi, Pad Thai, Beef Salad and a Thai Iced Tea. The presentation is great, everything looked amazing. The Khao Soi was a little heavy on raw shallots for me, but good flavour. The crispy noodles, while looking very nice and decorative, was quite stale. The Beef Salad was very tasty. A lot of beef, a little sour, a little spicy. Good textures. I'd recommend this. Price was reasonable and service was great!

Yelp
Enjoyed the food, ambiance and great service while out with two of my nephews. We all agreed that we would come here again.

Yelp
Authentic Thai restaurant. Real Thai cuisine. All dishes are tasty. I order takeout twice. Never eat in because the place quite busy. Uber eat with special discount is cheaper, otherwise order online is better. But be careful when order spicy level, it's real Thai spicy. you can request mild, medium, hot or Thai spicy. It's tasty anyways. The Thai Fresh Rolls is very fresh and refreshing. Price wise on a bit high side but it worth. Recommended Next time when I try the eat in and see the service..maybe I will add one more star

Yelp
It has been a year since we last visited. This restaurant is always popular and was full tonight. There was a queue waiting in front of us, but we were lucky to get seated quite quickly. Overall the servers were attentive, efficient and polite, we were offered water and menu once seated. However waiting time for food was a bit long and the dishes didn't come continuously, we finished one dish and had to seat and wait for another dish to come, but the server noticed this and followed up for us. Dishes are nicely garnished, but still the pad thai was soaked with tamarind sauce. The bbq chicken satay together with the peanut sauce was good, the beef salad, the basil chicken fried rice were also fresh & tasty. The ambiance was good and we had a good dining experience. It's hard to get authentic Thai food in Toronto but Chiang Rai fares better than many of its counterparts.

Yelp
Just went for a quick lunch. They were quite busy and service was good. I was surprised they didn't have a lunch menu but I guess when ur packed for lunch it's not necessary. The food like usual was very tasty and the medium spice on the pad Thai was perfect (for me). Definitely come back with more guests so I can try more dishes!

Yelp
This location is much better than the sister restaurant in liberty village downtown. I was pleasantly surprised about their dishes. The Islamic noodles, glass noodles and pad Thai are the highlights for me. The pad see ew was too salty and too sweet compared with other places, it's usually my favorite dish so I'm extra critical of it. The pineapple fried rice presents very beautifully but it was a miss when we had it, most of us didn't enjoy that dish and thought the taste was off that day. The service was great but there was a 10-15 wait in between serving half the dishes. The place wasn't super busy that night, 70% Full and no one came to explain what happened until we asked them.

Yelp
Finally had a chance to try this restaurant. The food was good but some dishes weren't as flavourful or unique as I expected. My expectations were also a bit high since I heard so many great reviews. On the other hand, the dishes were visually appealing and service was great. I also recommend making a reservation as they get quite busy.

Yelp
Take Out Experience We decided on Thai for one of our Saturday family dinners. We wanted to eat at home and all of us were craving Thai food. I decided on Chiang Rai as I have eaten there before and not had their food in a while. We decided on Chicken Satay, Crispy Chicken, Thai Calamari, Pad See Ew and Pineapple Fried Rice. The order came quite fast and it was still steaming hot when Uber-eats dropped it off. The portions were a good size and there were leftovers. All of the dishes were amazing, just like we were eating at the restaurant. Everyone was happy and full after their meals. We are certainly going to go back and eat there sometime in the near future.

Yelp
Food- AMAZING. The taste was so good, and the ambience was very modern. The portion were definitely for sharing- so the price makes sense for this. If you're each getting your own dish, it will look expensive. Now look at my photo, do you see how pretty the Khao Soi looks??? They tied the noodles and fried them so it could stand on the knot. Such great presentation. That's one thing I love about Thai food- its so colourful. The servers were very nice. We didn't use it in our group but they did have beer on tap!

Yelp
When I walked in the restaurant looked pretty packed but there was still a table open for us. It is pretty hectic in here with a crowded dine in area and a steady stream of takeout orders. Unfortunately that was reflected pretty clearly in our wait times. It took around 20 minutes just to get Thai Shrimp Rolls, and it took 40 minutes total to get our Pad Thai. Despite the wait times, the food was pretty good. The Thai Shrimp Rolls were great, the shrimp was juicy and tasty! We really enjoyed sipping on the Thai milk tea throughout the dinner. The Panang Curry was delicious, though it got pretty heavy by the end from all the cream. I would have liked if they gave more rice to make it more filling and to help use the sauce. For how small the portion was I can't justify the $19 price. The Famous Pad Thai was amazing too and it had a much better portion size. The sauce was very tasty and the bean sprouts and peanut crumbs were a great topping. I think I'd come back here again some time, but it won't be one of our regular spots. The food was really good, but a bit overpriced and the service was a little too slow.

Yelp
Chiang Rai is leagues ahead from it's take-out days during Covid. It was lively and poppin on a Tuesday. This was the second time visiting and it did not disappoint. Service was fantastic, made sure I always had water without asking. My wife was craving for their Papaya Salad. The slightly crunchy texture swimming in their sweet house sauce was just like we remembered from the first time. It got our appetite going for the other dishes. We tried the Khao Soi Wrap with chicken. It was a great combination of mixed salad with tender pieces of chicken drizzled with curry. The roti was soft and soaked up the rich sauce very well. But it was served more like a open taco than a wrap, which made it messy to eat. Definitely going to try the Khao Soi noodles next time. Next was the Royal Pad Thai. The flavour was just as delicious as the original pad thai but uses glass noodles instead and had a egg crepe wrapped around it all. The wok hai was top notch! The glass noodles reminded me of Salad King's but done much better. Will come back again to try other dishes and their drinks. We didn't have to wait to be seated but this was a weekday...hopefully it stays that way lol. This is our go to spot for Thai food uptown.

Yelp
I love coming to Chiang Rai. The food is always good but the customer service is mid. On one recent occasion, I made a reservation for 5 people a week in advance. When I showed up at the restaurant, they had not reserved a table for us, and instead tried to fit 5 adults into a booth which was not possible. Their solution to this was to add another chair at the end of the table. However, this chair was taken from another table - that table ended up complaining that their replacement chair wasn't adequate, so the staff took the chair from us and gave it back to the other table. In the end, the staff pulled a few tables from larger settings and set it up in the middle of the restaurant. I found that we were a bit in the way but couldn't do anything about it. I also felt that the staff was trying to rush us out because of this - asking if they could take away the dishes when we weren't done yet.

Yelp
Found this establishment thanks to Uber Eats and I have frequent this establishment FOUR TIMES this month. Great food, good service and amazing value. The outdoor-look of the restaurant adds the feeling of authenticity of the meal. Highly recommended.

Yelp
A neighbourhood of mine... I love getting my Thai cravings at @chiangraito ! Their food is fantastic- We took my parents there for dinner the other day and they loved it as well! The food is authentic flavours - from their mango salad, chicken satay skewers to their curry, pad Thai and pineapple fried rice, everything was pretty much perfection. Thai iced tea was also really delish! I also love the way they plate their foods - just so beautiful to look at and I love it when food taste just as good as it looks Oh and a hint for spicy lovers - their make their own chili sauce in house and it is wickedly amazing as well!

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night for dinner with a group of friends after seeing how pretty their dishes are, with some interesting and diverse Thai menu items. Overall, I would return for any Thai food desires... their food was flavourful and the presentation is on point! This restaurant was busy the entire time, but we were prepared and made reservations. It's a fairly small space, and I saw quite a few people waiting or leave due to limited spots so definitely make reservations if you plan to come. I ordered the Tom yum pad Thai with beef as I found it pretty unique, and not something I've seen before. I really enjoyed the dish- it was flavourful, the spicy kick was just enough (I got mild), and it really satisfied those pad Thai cravings. I won't speak to things I didn't try, but in general all the dishes were really beautifully presented, though some dishes (e.g. the curry items) appeared to be smaller in portion. Price is relatively steeper than what I've been used to for Thai food ($19 for the pad Thai) but I think that's the case with all places now. The service was spotty... it started out almost non-existent, with no one really coming to acknowledge us and not too proactive with refilling drinks. But as the night progressed our server came by a lot more often and made good recommendations to my friends when they asked questions.
