"Owners Kristina and Greg Gaardbo have earned high marks and a devoted following for their Texas-style barbecue. Before the pandemic, the couple sold limited quantities of brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and other smoked meats on the weekends. They’ve since expanded into a full-fledged restaurant with an extensive menu of craft beer and weekly specials." - Naomi Waxman, Eater Staff

The wife and I did the BBQ Bourbon & Beer class/dinner this past Tuesday. Learned a bunch, ate incredible food paired with great bourbon choices and finally found an IPA that I will drink! Greg & Kristina are great hosts and the staff was awesome! Highly recommend the experience. PS. the amount of food that comes home with you makes the best lunch the next day. My coworkers were very jealous. Can’t wait to do another night class!

Came here yesterday for dinner and ordered the brisket, half rack of ribs, cornbread muffin, coleslaw and Mac salad. This was more than enough food for my fiancé and I and everything was delicious! The brisket was tender and juicy and the ribs mostly slipped right off the bone when eating. Definitely a go-to spot for American BBQ for us!

Been here quite a few times and have loved the food I’ve had, especially the Oklahoma Burger. But yesterday I went a got a Lobster Roll that was on special, quite possibly THE BEST thing I’ve ever eaten! If you see it’s on special next time… GET THERE! Owners are awesome as well

Stopped in for a pulled pork and was blown away. Everything here as in point. Prices were worth every bit and not too expensive. Awesome list of various food and beer. Atmosphere was soo fitting. Suaces were great. I'll be back again very soon.

Paella!!! Paella!!! Paella!!! CCK made a take-away Paella for our Mother’s Day get together. It MADE the day!!! The mothers didn’t look at their children or grand-children, just at the Paella. Then, we dug in. It was fantastic. Chicken, rib, and sausage, all kinds of delicious veggies, and saffron rice. I felt like I won the food lottery. It was the only topic of conversation. We had/have so much left over. I was calling close and distant relatives to come over and eat. The price was more than fair, they were extremely GENEROUS. And I didn’t even mention the delicious appetizers it came with… I’d been wanting to get to one of CCK’s paella events for a while and now I HAVE to go. I’m already looking to schedule my next Paella party at home! Enough words, let the pictures do the talking. Thanks for the love CCK!!!

Google
Chicago Culinary Kitchen Finally a BBQ joint that isn't filled with country music. It's a rock all the time ! Nice selection of meats. The brisket is moist nice seasoning in the bark. Sauces are ok, nothing special. But the rib tips didn't need any more they were great. And those PB&J pig wings are fantastic. Totally different and delicious. Only down falls...soda is all off brand stuff..better than Pepsi but not Coke. And it's mostly family style seating, long rows of tables. So if you don't like sitting on the community table it has limited other seats

Here’s a concise yet comprehensive review for Chicago Culinary Kitchen in Palatine: Chicago Culinary Kitchen in Palatine offers an extraordinary BBQ experience that left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment I entered, the enticing aroma of smoked meats set the stage for an unforgettable meal. The service was outstanding. Smoked Brisket: Incredibly juicy and packed with deep, smoky flavor. Ribs: Perfectly tender, with a delightful smoky crust. Pulled Pork: Rich and flavorful, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Google
Chicago Culinary Kitchen has quickly secured its place as one of my favorite BBQ joints. Known for its delectable offerings and inviting atmosphere, this establishment has become a go-to spot for those seeking a memorable BBQ experience. The menu at Chicago Culinary Kitchen boasts a variety of BBQ delights, each dish showcasing the skill and passion of the culinary team. From succulent ribs to flavorful brisket, every item on the menu is a testament to the artistry of traditional barbecue preparation. The savory goodness is complemented by a well-curated beer selection that never fails to enhance the overall dining experience. While the taste and quality of the food undoubtedly make Chicago Culinary Kitchen stand out, it's worth noting that the prices lean towards the higher side. The flavorful journey is, in essence, an investment, and those seeking an affordable BBQ option might find the cost a bit steep. However, for those who appreciate the art of BBQ and are willing to splurge for an exceptional experience, the expense is justified. Chicago Culinary Kitchen is undoubtedly a neighborhood gem for BBQ enthusiasts. The warm and inviting ambiance, coupled with the attentive service, creates an environment that feels like a true BBQ haven in the heart of the community. In conclusion, if you're in search of mouthwatering BBQ that tantalizes the taste buds and a cozy spot to savor it, Chicago Culinary Kitchen is the place to be. While it may be a bit pricey, the BBQ experience it offers is well worth the indulgence.

Yelp
food smells great, very inviting space... I'd like to see some outdoor seating, it's a beautiful day out here in Chicago, but I'll walk across the street to the Menards and eat over there. It's very nice... My server was kind enough to forget my utensils, so I returned to the restaurant, and restaurant. I asked the follow behind the counter, if it's normal to leave utensils out of takeout orders... I was fairly frustrated and annoyed and, I was about to ask him for some sort of compensation like a free drink, because my entrée and appetizer were $30 just for myself ... The fellow, casually remarked, oh, it's right over there... There are a couple of towers inside the evening space, for the weight staff, and customers I guess... Seems a little out of place to me, but everybody who warned me about eating here was right,

Yelp
This Saturday was the second time we tried going here. Unfortunately this time the bathrooms were out of order. I'm not sure how you can operate a sit down restaurant with no bathroom open. Hopefully the third time will be the charm and we will actually be able to try the food we've been waiting so long for.

Yelp
Bad name, good food. Visited here for the first time on a recent Friday night at 6:35 pm. The parking lot is large but services 5-10 businesses so it can get crowded. We parked on the other end of the lot and walked over. Not too bad. There was a line when we arrived and it took approximately 10 minutes for us to get to the counter to order (orders are placed at a counter and food is then brought out). The girl at the counter wasn't pleasant and did not smile or welcome anyone. She was efficient at putting orders in though. There are items, not shown on the menu, written on a chalkboard over the counter. We ordered at 6:44 pm. Seating is communal except for a few smaller tables. If that's not your thing, get it to go. There is an outside area as well but we didn't check it out. People were lingering even though this is a place where you should scurry off once you're done so that others can sit. The restaurant should encourage people to move on when done, especially when busy (they have other rules/expectations posted on the walls...maybe they can add this one). We got our food to go based on the crowded area but it did start to open up while we were waiting and we would have had a spot to sit. We got a chance to look around while we waited. There's some black light art on a wall, heavy metal/rock themed stuff and skulls all around and they had Thundercats episodes playing on a projector (that was cool). The music wasn't too loud and it was a decent environment. Overall, not too big, and possibly kept small enough to keep it manageable for them. If you wait for your food, and all the tables are full, there isn't a good place to stand; you will be in the way of people walking around. Looking into the kitchen, the guys preparing food looked to be sanitary except for one guy that kept touching his hat with his gloved hand. The girl working in the bar wasn't sanitary and was fingering everyone's straws, glasses and contents with bare hands that never got washed. The food came out at 7:22 pm...a very long wait for stuff that's already smoked and ready to go. The man calls out your number and then walks the food over to you. All was packaged well. If you want sauce, ask the bar for a cup and then go find the one you want and fill it up. We ordered a half chicken, brisket, fries and coleslaw. The bill was $44; not too crazy considering how things are lately. The brisket was very good. Not a ton of fat but enough to keep it moist. The 1/2 lb didn't look like a lot but it filled me up when combined with sides. I would order again. The chicken was tender, juicy and tasty but the skin was awful, stretchy and slimy. Probably would not get this again. Both entrees came with a few slices of white bread under the meat and several sliced pickles (coin style). Fries were plentiful and basic but the gochujang sauce kicked them up a notch. Nothing real original here but a good side. Coleslaw was made in-house and was tasty. It's a wetter slaw and had some good seasoning. At $5, a bit expensive for cabbage but I liked it. Overall, good food and decent prices. I will visit them again.

Yelp
BBQ is important to me, in the same way that gills are important to fish, and martyrdom is important to my mother. So, when I say that CCK is some of the best BBQ around, it's coming from a place of deep consideration for me. Husband and wife team up for a rock and roll concept that combines an edgy (but not pushy) atmosphere, friendly service, and mouth-watering, crowd pleasing, slap-yo-momma tastes. A variety of sauces add an element of depth and (slight) heat, and I'd encourage you to add different flavors to each bite to find your own personal nirvana. It was so delicious that I went back the next day and had the same meal, adding on four different net-new dishes to try.

Kim M.

Yelp
Updating this review from having gone a few more times: 1) the Fried Pork Belly is fantastic and worth every cent 2) Smoked Prime Rib was great 3) If I'd known how amazing the blueberry banana cream pie was I would have ordered 2 more slices 4) The Not Your Fathers Root Beer Float was so delicious 5) The service continues to always be on point, even when it's busy like it was today. We typically have stuck to their events because it's so far away from where we live, but be it their events or just a regular meal - I highly recommend coming to visit Jay and Team - and definitely don't forget Betty Rocker's pies.

Aly M.

Yelp
Very well prepared meats. Dishes were thoughtful and simple enough to taste the quality of the meat. Baked beans were really good. Highly recommend the brisket. I really liked the quality of the meat and the fact it was not overly sauced or spiced. This allowed the true flavor to come out and showcased the cooking of the meat itself.

Yelp
This was my second time at Chicago Culinary Kitchen. The first time was outstanding and this was the same. Earlier, I'd been lucky enough to go with other Yelpers. This time, it was family. Their barbeque is as good as I've had it in Texas. The Brisket is perfect - moist with a beautiful bark. My favorite, though, is their smoked chicken. It's wonderfully flavored - smokey, moist, with crisp skin. We also had their baked beans, truffle fries, and their candied bacon for dessert. The decorations are really fun, and you can see them in the photos posted to Yelp. They don't have many tables and have long picnic benches. The service is also very good. And, they have a small well-stocked bar. We went early, so there was no wait to be seated - a real plus since wait times can be long. Chicago Culinary Kitchen definitely rates in my top 10 barbeque restaurants in the USA. When the food arrived, it looked so good we jumped right in. By the time I realized I took no photos, we were half done.

Yelp
Back again and I had to get my regular Brisket and Sausage!!!! Still as ahhh-mazing as ever! The Brisket melts in your mouth! The Sausage is sooo good. They also have weekly specials that I need to try. So will be back for more! Service is great! Love everyone! Happy eating!

Yelp
Overall 4/5. I loved the metal theme when you first walk in as well as in the dining area. They also have cool props outside. I found out about this place through social media. One star was taken because the prices are expensive and I wished they extended their houses to like 9 pm at least. There are tons of parking spaces. This place is popular so you might have to wait for people to leave if you plan on dining in. -Smoked rib tips 2/5 - too chewy not enough meat -back alley sticky ribs 5/5 - i love these ribs. I love the flavor with honey and dukka. -brisket 5/5 - very moist and melts in your mouth -jalapeño cheddar link 5/5 -f'n mac & cheese 5/5 -pig candy 5/5 i wished i had more

T. B.

Yelp
The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the price. The food was fantastic, this goes for the main dishes AND the sides. Great BBQ and cool atmosphere. We got the rib tips, shrimp, The Tornado, and The El Jefe. All great! Those four meals plus drinks (sodas) and a couple of sides cost our family of 4 $121!! Yikes. I don't mind splurging from time to time and the food was definitely delicious, however due to the cost, we could only go maybe a couple times a year rather than make it a regular thing. The only other thing that was a bit of a disappointment was no soda machine. We all had to buy off brand sodas in bottles. Definitely worth a visit if you have some extra cash.

Yelp
Chicago Culinary Kitchen: A Meat Lover's Utopia in Palatine Nestled in the heart of Palatine, Illinois, Chicago Culinary Kitchen emerges as a carnivore's paradise, where the art of Texas-style BBQ is celebrated with a passion that's almost palpable. From the moment you step in, the aroma of smoked meats slow-cooked to perfection invades your senses, promising an experience that's as authentic as it is mouthwatering. The Ambiance: A rustic charm envelops you, with an ambiance that's unpretentious yet inviting. The decor pays homage to the simplicity of a classic BBQ joint, while still providing a comfortable space where families and friends can gather to indulge in the pleasures of good food and craft beer. The Food: The menu is a testament to BBQ done right. Each meat cut, from the thick, juicy brisket to the tender rib tips, is a masterpiece of flavor, smoked lovingly overnight to achieve that perfect balance of smokiness and succulence. The 'F'n Mac & Cheese' and 'Esquites' are standout sides that complement the meats beautifully, but make no mistake, here, the meat is the star. The Beer: Beer enthusiasts will find themselves at home with a selection of craft beers that are as carefully curated as the meats. The knowledgeable staff, including a beer connoisseur in training for Cicerone certification, ensures that each pairing enhances the dining experience, elevating both the brew and the BBQ. The Service: Service at Chicago Culinary Kitchen is as warm as the BBQ itself. The staff are not just employees; they're advocates of the BBQ culture, eager to share their knowledge and ensure that your meal is memorable. Final Thoughts: Chicago Culinary Kitchen is more than just a restaurant; it's a celebration of flavors, a place where BBQ is not just food, but an experience to be savored. Whether you're a BBQ aficionado or a curious foodie, this kitchen is a must-visit destination. Just remember, come hungry and leave happy, because Chicago Culinary Kitchen doesn't just serve meals; they serve up joy on a plate.

Yelp
Food was amazing and we found many veggie options - corn ribs were by far my favorite. Love the decor and great patio for the summer

Mike S.

Yelp
First impression, sat down and my arms stuck to the table. Tried to wipe it, the substance just grabbed the napkin. It was like someone spilled a beer, smeared it all over both tables and let it dry. Luckily I had baby wipes with me. Should've read other reviews before I ordered the street corn, even the kid wouldn't eat it. Truffle fries had good flavor, but this is the first place I've seen that didn't add Parmesan or something to the truffle fries. Ribs were ok, had good chew and decent flavor but not amazing. They have a few different sauces which were all good. The brisket tamales were decent, but again not the 4-5 stars I'm seeing in some reviews. Overall kinda average bbq with cool decor

Sherwin C.

Yelp
A solid choice for barbeque if you're in the Palatine area. The meat portions are thick, juicy, and tender and there's a good smoky flavor to the meat. The service isn't the fastest as this restaurant is generally busy and you can generally expect a line to order food. There is a good amount of seating available but it can be challenging to find a seat during the busiest times. With the lighting inside it can be difficult to take good food pictures, but you can also choose to go outside if the weather permits. On my visit I tried the brisket, PB&J Pork Wings, and fries. I found the meat to be generally tender and flavorful, though it was just good for me and not anything particularly special in comparison to other high end BBQ restaurants. Portion sizes were alright though maybe a bit small in comparison to the price paid. The fries were a bit disappointing in how soft they were, and a bit oversalted for my taste. The BBQ sauces were also alright as well, mixing fairly well with the meats but none stood out as particularly memorable or special compared to what's available at other highly rated BBQ restaurants. Overall, I'd probably visit again based on reputation to try a few more different items on my next visit. I found the food to be pretty good, but wasn't exactly wowed by what I tried.

Eddie C.

Yelp
Review is just for the food since I had it delivered but with that said... I normally don't review just "food" but I gotta say - the bbq here is mind-numbingly good. The brisket was fatty, juicy, and melts in your mouth. The Amish chicken is also the best roasted chicken I've ever had. It looks totally scorched so I thought it would be dry but it's super moist and the flavor is incredible. Also loved the fried zucchini with the creamy tzatziki sauce. I honestly can't even imagine a smoked bbq place being any better than Chicago Culinary Kitchen. I just can't believe it's taken this long for me to try this place since it's totally in my back yard!

Ryan D.

Yelp
Average, forgettable food + outrageous prices + unwelcoming atmosphere = disappointing experience. I have heard rave reviews about Chicago Culinary Kitchen for years, so I was excited when I had the opportunity to try it for myself. When I walked in I was hit by a wall of loud noise. The combination of loud customers and obnoxiously loud music does not mix well. I was lost as to how to order because there are no signs directing you where to go. When I finally did find where to go two rude customers cut in line in front of me. I found the prices to be very high and I was hoping for excellent food to justify the prices. I can tell you that the food is average. Absolutely nothing special. The prices do not come anywhere close to matching the quality of the food. Chicago Culinary Kitchen gets an F when it comes to value for money. We ordered the brisket, French fries, and the PB&J pig wings. The brisket was warm and moist but had no flavor from the smoking. This was very disappointing. There was noting special about the French fries except for the salt content. It tasted like an entire can of salt was dumped on the French fries. The PB&J pig wings was the only item with any flavor. I'm not sure how they flavored this or what type of pork they used but it did have a peanut butter and jelly flavor to it. I will not be returning to Chicago Culinary Kitchen.

Pickle Rick J.

Yelp
Mind blowing! Every dish they serve is made with pure love and enthusiasm! Everyday they offer unique dishes in limited quantities. You need to follow their social media to get the inside scoop on the daily specials. Ive eaten here countless times and never had anything less than 5 stars ! Bring your appetite and your friends. Their unique take on BBQ puts this place in the history books of the Chicago Suburbs!

Emily W.

Yelp
Great service. Friendly staff. Great food. I like the brisket sandwich a lot, a little bit sweet and not too salty.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
The meats here are very well-prepared, showing real skill and care. Each dish is made to highlight the quality of the meat. The baked beans were very tasty, and the brisket is especially good and highly recommended. I liked that the meats weren't overly sauced or spiced. This let the natural flavors of the meat come through. You can taste the quality and the careful cooking. The dishes were simple, letting the true taste of the meat shine. It's clear a lot of thought went into making sure the flavors were pure and showcased the chef's talent.

Lan N.

Yelp
I've been here for an event and everything I had was soooooo good! So I took my fiancé here to try. The Texas sauce is probably one of my favorite thing here. In hindsight, we should have gotten the Texas one and then one jalapeño cheddar one, but guess that could be for next time. The brisket is tender and juicy. Some pieces were drier than others, but it's still good. The patatas bravas were soooo good! Crispy on the outside and soft and supple on the inside. The aioli's complemented it so well too. We loooved the corn bread! It's sweet and soft. It was bigger than we expected, but idk why we were surprised cause everything is large portions here. The staff were all super friendly. We sat outside by the patio, it was kind of chilly that night but they also have heaters. It'll be nicer when the weather is warmer! Highly would recommend stopping by here!

Emily T.

Yelp
This is one of the most highly recommended BBQ places in the area. Sometimes the line is out the door. For good reason- the interior of the restaurant gives industrial rock in roll & they have a great covered patio. The menu is extensive (counter service) & the food really is great bbq. I like the presentation of all the food in big platters- it makes sharing real easy. However, it is pretty overpriced imo & if you come here on the weekend you will be waiting for over 30 minutes to get food. We tried the pulled pork, brisket, corn, cornbread, potatoes bravas & beans. Potatoes bravas were undercooked & gross. The corn was great & really flavorful; along with the beans! Actual meat was solid- but again really overpriced. Cornbread was decent, I've had better. Would I return? Probably, but just know you will be paying top dollar for this place

Annette M.

Yelp
We brought our BBQ loving friends here and we all had a great time. Between us we had several mouth-watering entrees and sides along with a few craft beers and a couple of Old Fashioned cocktails. We ordered at the counter and talked with the manager regarding the daily specials. He was very helpful. We sat down at the communal style table and our drinks & food were brought out promptly. Plenty of BBQ sauce styles were in squirt bottle containers on the table along with a huge napkin dispenser. Take out boxes were provided for leftovers as the portions were generous. Music is heavy metal so if you don't like it oh well then, because it goes with the rockin BBQ & decor. (they do a brisk take-out business too) We all agreed that we will return soon.

Mirella K.

Yelp
I could go on and on about this place. Chicago Culinary Kitchen is the restaurant you didn't know you needed until you go! The ambiance and vibes of this place - immaculate. Skulls, wall humor, a few neon lights - it's truly the perfect place for some incredible barbecue, beer, bourbon, or any cocktail for that matter. Owners Greg and Kristina are so personable and the most knowledgeable pitmasters I've ever encountered. The meats here are beyond quality and smoked to perfection. Some take all night and then some to smoke perfectly. They get their amish chicken from Indiana, too, which I love! I highly recommend taking their barbecue, beer, & bourbon class - you get a LOT of different meats paired with some sides, bourbon, and beer. I was a sucker for their ribs, brisket, amish chicken, Mexican street corn, baked beans, and cornbread. The portions were more than generous and you definitely take a lot of it home (super nice they offer to-go boxes)! Greg and Kristina would tell us how they prepare and cut their meat, and also where they get it from. Most of it comes from Texas which is neat! You already know I'll be coming back here very soon. They also have a new seafood place called Pink's which I will be checking out, as well. Thank you Greg & Kristina and CCK staff for one fantastic class! What an incredible eatery!

Tina C.

Yelp
This place is amazing !! We discovered CCK about 3 weeks ago and wondered why we had not tried it sooner! The smoke on their meats have it melting in your mouth. We have been back twice now and not disappointed either time. Next visit I will have to take pics but it hasn't lasted that long

Greg

Yelp
Terrible location. Order was wrong. Food was inconsistent. Workers are very rude. Missing ingredients on burger

Melissa S.

Yelp
Went here today with my husband. Now, fair warning, I'm currently 8 1/2 months pregnant, so we ended up ordering a lot! We originally tried this place during COVID, and had their Cinco De Mayo to-go special, and ever since then we have wanted to try them again. The inside of the restaurant has awesome vibes and good music. It is counter service, which is common for most BBQ places. We had their daily special brisket sandwich, potato salad, truffle fries, daily special buffalo shrimp, and daily special beignets. The brisket sandwich had a jelly on it with pickles on a brioche bun, and my goodness was it delicious! The jelly was a nice touch to the brisket, which was tender and juicy. The pickles on the sandwich were crunch, and the bun nice and toasted. What I truly liked about the sandwich was that their meat does not come with sauce one it (they mention this on their menu). I always prefer no sauce on BBQ meat, because I want to taste the meat, and not the sauce. If a place has to sell their BBQ meat with sauce on it, then they don't trust their meat! Anyways, the do have several selections of sauce on the tables, and they all looked good. The truffle fries were exquisite, and definitely a favorite! The potato salad was good, but nothing exceptional. The buffalo shrimp were crispy and were not over cooked. They came with crumbled blue cheese on them, which was a nice touch. The beignets...oh those beignets! Crispy on the outside, fluffy and flaky on the inside! So good! The only thing I would say is I wish they came with a sauce, but they were tasty! Overall, this is a great place that has a lot to offer. If people complain about the prices, you have to remember that smoked and BBQ meats will always cost more, which is nothing new. The portions are good, the food delicious, and it's always a good sign to see the owners there and helping! We will definitely be back!

Katherine K.

Yelp
First off, I absolutely love the decor! I came in October so they had some Halloween decorations on top of their normal decor. I honestly wanted to steal a bunch of these! I love skulls and the place was beautifully decorated with a ton of skulls and rock and roll style decor. Lots of fun! Even the bathroom was cool to look around. The man who took my friends and my order was actually pretty rude. He was incredibly impatient with us and looked annoyed as we asked for more details on the menu items. I honestly wanted to turn around and leave at that point, but my friends like it there and wanted to stay. Thankfully the food made up for it. I really like how they have different specials every day and I wish I was able to come here more often to try more of them. I don't remember the exact name of the brisket sandwich I got, but it was delicious and that's all I care about! It was huge! Absolutely overflowing with the amount of meat and whatnot on it. The meat was fresh, flavorful and juicy. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better piece of meat! I also got their Hot Cheetos Mac N Cheese. Once you mix it together, it has a really great flavor and texture, but it isn't anything special. I liked it, but I wouldn't get it again. I would have given this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the rude staff member. Such a shame. Hopefully I don't run into him next time I come.

Doc K.

Yelp
Arrived on a Saturday around 1:00 p.m. crowded, so we sat at the bar. The stools were the most uncomfortable things I have ever sat on. Was not impressed. They only have custom beers, could not get a Miller Lite? They serve a quart container of fries and have NO KETCHUP, only gochujang? Brisket sandwich was OK nothing to write home about. The smash burger was a total mess of a sandwich. Don't order that on a first date! The plastic flatware is helpful with all the mess, NOT. The lighting in the joint does not show the RED that is in the pictures? Not sure what that is all about. Subliminal mind conditioning along with the music. Will not recommend or visit again. Was very disappointed.

LucysBrother P.

Yelp
Went there for the first time Thursday night. We all got different things and shared with each other. Here's the breakout: Brisket - pretty good, mostly point so a bit fatty 4/5 Amish chicken - very good 5/5 Back alley ribs - very good 5/5 Cornbread muffin - dry, no flavor - meh 2/5 Zucchini fries - no flavor - meh 2/5 Texas sausage - no flavor - meh 2/5 18 hour pit beans - pretty good 4/5 Mac n cheese - very, very good - 10/5 Fireball bread pudding - sounded good but - no fire - no balls 0/5 I had hoped to get the award winning smoked Moroccan lamb chili. I asked if I could get a sample but was told no. I wasn't about to spend $16 for a bowl of chili without having a clue what it was going to be like. Next time, we'll have to try the Oklahoma burger sandwich and the bone-in pork chop sandwich.

Jeff N.

Yelp
I highly recommend that you enroll in one of their classes. The husband/wife owner team conducts an informative and fun 2 hour session explaining just about everything you wanted to know about BBQ, beer and bourbon. Each meat is expertly paired with a beer or bourbon. You try each product and drink each spirit. To go boxes are ready because it is impossible to finish everything. The passion for cooking and the passion for the arts is amazing and admirable. Great vibe, great owners and staff. Fantastic products!

Anna P.

Yelp
A fun and interesting experience. The decor and atmosphere is like no other in the area. The food aligns well with their ambiance. Fun place to stop in for a quick lunch.

Yelp
I came back to try their ribs. I picked up a carryout full slab of their St. Louis ribs for $27.95. OMG! They were meaty, tender, and flavorful, and right up there with "the best ever"! If you want sauce (they have 4 flavors with Legacy being their mainstay), don't forget to ask for it. I only wish they were closer to my home.

Yelp
This place is like none other!!! Real hardwood smoked BBQ right in the middle of Palatine, IL!!! We tried the pulled pork, the rib tips and the sausage. For sides we selected the pasta salad, fries and corn bread. All of the sides were shareable size, so there was plenty of food for our group. The craft beer was amazing!!! The in-house made varieties of BBQ sauce were soooo yummy and the vibe was biker bar meets hard rock meets neon. At this place you order and pay at the counter, then grab your seats and they bring the food out to you. This allowed for a super fresh and hot delivery. We were there at about 2pm for a late lunch and the place was hopping!!! I suspect it's a vibe no matter when you go. We will revisit for sure!!!!!

Yelp
I was here with a good size group for a Yelp event. What a treat! Thank you Mirella for organizing this. Everyone really seemed to have a great time. Owners Greg and Kristina were our hosts for an evening of really good food and some culinary education. Kristina was introduced as a licensed Cicerone (see? I learned something new right away). A certified Cicerone is acknowledged to have an exceptional understanding of brewing, beer, and pairing. It was obvious that she really knows her stuff, as she detailed the various beers and bourbons that she paired with every course. Maybe I was hypnotized, but I'll be darned if every one of her choices seemed spot on with what we were eating (including the cornbread). Greg gave details on each of the meats that were served, explaining cooking methods, very specific cooking temperatures, and meat choices. Like Kristina, everything he spoke about proved to be reflected in each delicious course. These main courses included Texas sausage, chicken, St. Louis style ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. Scrumptious sides were cornbread, Mexican street corn, Mac n' cheese, beans, and bread pudding. Now Greg told us at the beginning, that although there were ample bottles of bbq sauce at the tables, he asked that we at least give the meat a try without the sauce to better appreciate the quality of the prepared meat. I really like sauce, but found out that this food really doesn't need it. The ribs in particular were outstanding, with the perfect balance of being meaty, yet so tender. The Texas sausage was tasty, the chicken moist and delicious, the pulled pork and brisket were also to die for. The servers were well organized and friendly people. They have a great system. Their full menu has so many other temptations that I know I'll be back here again to try them. Excellent food, highly recommended!

Yelp
Wow! The complete package. We attended the Wine and Swine dinner. Multiple courses of food including chicken, pulled pork, brisket and ribs. Along with sides, the Mac and cheese is soooo tasteful. It appears they keep the menu fresh by adding items and offering specials so you can always get something new to try. The bar is great lots of beer options. The owners pictured here are so nice and approachable. Answer your questions and just great people. Must try. If you are in the city it's worth the drive.

Yelp
All the food is wonderful! It's a wild and crazy atmosphere. You need to order when you come in and choose a drink. Then you can sit and wait till they call your number. You may wait a while if it's busy. Good for carry out. Served on paper on metal trays. Choice of barbecue sauces. Very loud.

Yelp
Love the vibe and attitude, pulled pork with sausage and bacon was good, but soooo fatty burping all night.

Yelp
Great BBQ/ The brisket was outstanding. Pork good as well. Had a nice onion flavor. Mac and cheese yummy. Only drawback is the place is very loud so it is hard to hear people over the din. Did like the rocker motif though. Very cool. Will come back to try other items.

Yelp
CCK had an amazing wine and BBQ pairing. With Lynfred Winery tonight. Absolutely over the top great food and wine. I highly recommend this place if you want great BBQ.

Yelp
Very disappointed in the rib tips. My dog Boo is going to have to eat for me. Rub tips are supposed to be tender and fatty. These rib tips were so tough, I had to chew and chew and chew. Baked beans are great, but don't order the rib tips. I think they cost $18.00 al la carte, not worth it.

Yelp
Fun vibe in this BBQ restaurant. I'm basically a vegetarian but joined my son in trying out this restaurant knowing they had some fish/shrimp options. I ordered the Bloody Mary and it was so good, made with calmetto and Aquavit which made for an interesting twist on the old standby. The fried shrimp was delicious and the Mac and cheese with sprinkles of flamin hot Cheetos was so good. One comment is that the portions are on the smaller side, for the price points I feel. I think I got like 6 shrimp, I was still a bit hungry :( My son had a Sammy that looked yummy. We sat at the bar. There are lots of fun things look at in this space and in the ladies room too! I recommend!

Yelp
I have never physically been here, but I've eaten their food, and it is amazing! Everything I've had from here is absolutely delicious, particularly the brisket. Based on the photos and reviews, I'd love to check out this place in person sometime.

Yelp
I have been to this restaurant many times when it was in their previous location and while I appreciate their new location is bigger I have to say the quality of food has gone down. The staff we interacted with was very nice so no complaints there. We tried a few different things and there was nothing to write home about. The Buffalo chicken sandwich looked cool and delicious but unfortunately the chicken was hard and over cooked, the pulled pork had this huge piece of straight fat in it there wasn't even meat attached to the fat. The crispy ribs were really crispy... the first bite had a sliver of a bone sticking out. The Mac and cheese with flaming hot Cheetos crumbs was so bland it was disappointing along with the corn bread. The cornbread at their old location was way better. Also the bread they gave us with our food was stale. The cake and beignets were not great. The beignets are a frozen box of puff pastry with powdered sugar( this should be a yeasty dough not a pocket of air) The brisket was good as always. But for the prices being charged you shouldn't walk away so disappointed.

Yelp
We got the el Jeff, the pork U and the giamt buffalo chicken sandwich. As well as mac and cheese, beans, corn, Cole slaw, and corn bread. All the meat was dry by its self especially the pulled pork, the brisket tasted weird and was salty. The beans weren't good nor was corn both had really weird flavors. The mack and cheese and corn bread was the only things worth getting again

Yelp
Today was my 1st eating here and trust me I wasn't expecting the service, atmosphere, and the food to at an all time high. It was a group of 12 of us and the service was the same for all of us. I definitely recommend trying this place.

Yelp
Stopped in for a sampling of a lot: meatball sandwich, spicy brisket tamale, cornbread, pulled pork, brisket, beans, potatoes, and coconut pie to finish. Okay, it was A LOT!! Everything was good or awesome. The pulled pork was Ah-mazing and I would go back just for the coconut pie! 5/5

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for ages and seeing that they were going to have a lobster roll special on Friday was the tipping point to get in my car spur the moment. I got there 30 minutes after they opened there were lines, very busy glad I got there because shortly after cause it sold out. the staff is very friendly professional. It's a biker bar and rock 'n' roll feel very edgy, but comfortable and clean. The food was well worth the wait and the price because I've had a lobster roll in Boston, and it was on par.

Yelp
I literally have nothing Positive to say. I had a pretty bad experience when I went for my first time. As I've been reading all of the different reviews on Google, including the one I've already put on there. I've noticed that the replies are very gracious and and kind to anyone who gives them high stars... But to those of us who had negative experiences and voiced them in our reviews so that we could maybe consider coming back, We were responded to with disdain and frankly, I felt insulted by it. I know it's hard to receive negative reviews And it can make you mad, but sometimes you need to hear them so You can learn from them and grow in the process. I do wish the owners good luck and continued success, but I will never go there again.

Yelp
I had tried this place when it was at its original location and finally got to stop into the newer location and glad I did! The inside gives rocker theme and some cool/funky art pieces. Really loved the old pay phone on the wall by the bathroom (which were very clean btw!). Stopped in with my husband and sister and the first thing we heard was "nope we don't carry vegan unless you want to try our pickles" from the guy talking to someone on the phone LOL! He quickly became our favorite to talk to while we were ordering. I asked about the special pb&j wings and he said it wouldn't disappoint - he was right! They were darn good. Brisket and pulled pork were also super tender and seasoned great. Hot Cheetos mac n cheese is my favorite. Fries were crispy and tasty. Not pictured: the true housewives sangria drink that was yummy but creeps up on you if you're not a big drinker. It was also a Sunday and they had a live band that you can request songs to play off their set list (The Red Berettas). Overall loved the new location, food, and service!

Yelp
I stay away from this place as much as possible. Especially Mondays and Tuesdays. The service is NON-EXISTENT. Incredibly hard to get a table. Much less a seat at the bar. Thankfully the kitchen is fully-stocked and the bar is ready to go. There's even a couple cords of high quality wood outside. So if you are handy with a standard strip-mall door lock, nifty with knives, and know something about starting up a kitchen... this is your place ESPECIALLY MONDAYS & TUESDAYS. If not just don't come on Mondays or Tuesdays. Or else you won't like it. Promise ya that! The only thing that could ever negate the aforementioned would be showing up ANY OTHER DAY OF THE WEEK... with your wallet. Don't bring the kids and sit at the bar where you can watch Tom & Jerry... the GOOD ONES, too! I don't care what you try... it's great. Is the... YEP. What about tha... UH HUH And their... WTF have I said? This place never sucks. Except Monday and Tuesday. But really, every place sucks on Monday and Tuesday. Especially this place. Are you going for the bar? Trust me, it's more fun there. Unless you have kids... then it REALLY MORE fun there. And, NO... the wood is not free to take... they have gift bags, though, I'm pretty sure, so on Mondays and Tuesdays you can go smoke your own sausage. Details at the counter.
