The Meatpackers Takes Over Encore Space in Meatpacking District | Eater NY

"A new American brasserie called the Meatpackers will be taking Encore’s place, and I was told it pivots to American fare focused on seafood, meat, and vegetables rather than the playful French dishes originally planned. Jean Imbert is no longer involved; instead, chef Richard Farnabe — who worked at Picholine when it earned two Michelin stars and spent time at Daniel and other upscale French establishments — is behind the new menu, which includes steaks, seafood entrees like roasted salmon and lobster mac and cheese, a raw bar, and brunch staples such as matcha French toast, eggs Benedict, and a smoked salmon bagel. Atmosphere is good inside but outside you experience the jaggedness of late night Frankfurt... Food was amazing, had the Ribs and Chicken wings combo and besides the Ribs being LATHERED in Sauce they were very good, Drinks were very good aswell although this is on the pricier side, you'll be sated nonetheless. NY style cheesecake was abit sour imo but not bad for Germany.

We visited the restaurant on an afternoon. The location is very convenient as it is right between the Hauptbahnhof and Hauptwache, Central but still a bit isolated. The amosphere and the service are good. The food on the other hand is really nothing special. iPhone the prices a bit steep.

We visited yesterday. Our experience started fine; the food was good . The burger and sides were oke, and the drinks were fine, making it an enjoyable meal up until the end. However, after we finished eating, we noticed a small mouse hiding directly behind the booth table next to the radiator, running in and out of the wall structure. A nearby couple immediately and clearly notified the waitress about the rodent, but she showed complete indifference. She simply acknowledged the sighting and continued working, leaving the mouse to roam freely. When we left the restaurant, the mouse was still visible in the dining area. While the kitchen staff seems to produce good food, the presence of a rodent, combined with the staff's complete lack of response and inaction, raises a major and unacceptable health and hygiene concern.

First we entered , no one was there to give us a sit , we waited and then a lady showed and said one second , she left us standing there while moving around us for more than 5 minutes , then she showed us to our table. The second waiter came to take our order and she wrote it all down. The food took 30 minutes and came with a missing item , so we called the waiter and asked about it , she looked at us and ran into the kitchen and came out after some minutes and moved around us with no words or explanation . Time passed by with no show for the missing item , so we finished our served incomplete items good and decided to pay. The waiter came with the bill no explanation of the missing item ! Up till this moment , we did not get the missing item butv- much to our surprise / it was there on the bill !! When we asked about why was the missing item on the invoice that she put the price of the missing item in the invoice , she looked with the same look on her face and said sorry !!!!!!!! Very disappointing service

I recently visited Chicago Meatpackers in Frankfurt and was quite disappointed with the service. We ordered nachos along with our beers, but the nachos never arrived. The waiter seemed indifferent and, after we pointed out the mistake, she apologized but still didn’t bring the nachos. Eventually, they tried to include the nachos on the bill despite us never receiving them. It took multiple reminders before they finally corrected the issue. Overall, while the food and ambiance might be decent, the lack of attention and care from the staff really ruined our experience. I hope they can improve their service in the future.

Absolutely love this place and will be returning again. Fantastic food and drink options and the taste is on point. We ordered 1.5 liter beers thinking they would come in a large stain but it’s just a pitcher of beer. We also had the wings which are good but sauce comes on the side instead of on the wings. Waitress was the best and spoke perfect English for us non-German speaking folk. Food came out super fast . Highly recommend

We had a great experience today for my sons birthday! We made same day reservations, and were seated immediately. Our server was amazing and even recognized our some for his birthday which was awesome and unexpected. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. Really enjoyed the salmon and the chicken wings. English menus were available and the waiter spoke English. Great vibe, definitely recommend!

Was a Thursday afternoon with very few guests when I entered. Service was extremely slow. Food was so so, waitress never returned. I finished, sat there for 10 min, went to the kitchen to ask for someone, cook said I need to find them. Took another 5 min until the crew came up from the basement.

The ambience is very nice. The food is palatable and delicious. Wish the steak was an inch thick, either way it was themer and juicy, despite cooking it to medium. The Chicago plate comes with burger patty with egg and bacon, 2 chicken sheets and Angus steak. It was delicious and we'll seasoned. The chicken is also tender and oozing with juiciness. It came with the Chipotle cheese fries. Wished the fries were crunchy. The baby back ribs was fairly good. The BBQ sauce was a little too sweet though. The East coast platter was a pile disappointing as far as the size and portion of the red snapper. But the whole service was gay so it more than make up for it.

Yes, we went to an American style restaurant in Germany! Guilty as charged! We were walking around the town and wanted to get warm, so we ended up here. The decor is really fun, with even a toy train track near the ceiling that runs. once we got warm, we ordered, of course, some Hefeweizens. Served ice cold and the bartender was friendly and spoke English fluently. Free wifi as well! We returned the following day with some clients because they were craving steak. We did not have reservations so we had to wait for about 10 minutes for a table. Giving some advice, Germany is BIG on reservations, even during the week. Our waitress, Kassie, was fantastic. She was attentive and checked on us often. Our food was ok, nothing to rave about. There are vegetarian options, so I had a caesar salad and tomato soup.The dressing was a little odd and it was served in a fried tortilla bowl, which was weird. The tomato soup, though, was delicious. All at our table said the food was ok, but none cleaned their plate. In a nut shell, I would recommend Chicago Meatpackers for beverages and the fun decor, but the food was sub-par.

I came with a big appetite and ordered the ribs and wings platter. I savoured the sweet bbq taste of both, it's almost perfect. Except that neither falls off the bone, which makes all the difference. I can't say I didn't enjoy it though, as my tiny self still cleaned up the plate. I also highly recommend the orange-something else-lemonade, soooo refreshing! If you must have alcohol, go for my order coming up next -- P.S. thank you miss waitress who taught us bartender slang - zwei Caipi, bitte!

Go there if: - you are a big, loud and active group - you want to enjoy/live all the american sterotypes (meat, meat, meat) - Love burgers and beer - If you need a safe option, where nothing to big can go wrong - you want to behave like a real man (Bring Meat! I eat Meat! HUAR!) - are american DONT go there if: - You want a nice, lovely and romantic ambience - You have a vegetarian in your group - You want to eat something healthy - If you working hard to get in bikini shape PS Totally not-german-like: enter the meatpackers and wait to be seated. Veggie-Test: It's not the best option for having a veggie-day, but it'll work.

We had our dinner late, around 8-8:30pm on a rainy Monday, so this may explain the great service and food we had. The place want very crowded, the service was VERY fast, and the food is top notch! We ordered the grilled chicken, grilled chicken salad, and original burger. Both the grilled chicken and the burger were very juicy, tender, and delicious! We both got the grilled veggies and they were well cooked and only lightly flavored. Not a fan of the salad, which was served in a fried tortilla bowl (more Mexican than Chicago). Note on the burgers - most places don't allow you to order cooking level, so just expect well done. I am a typical 'medium' burger person, but they did a great job because it was still really moist and tasty Only notch in the 4 out of 5 starts is the noise level. Could barely hear conversation at the table.

I went here for dinner via recommendation of yelp. The place is easy to find and is in the bank area. Really a lot of people inside. it'weekend. But there is still place for single person like me. I was here to try ribs. Last time I tried ribs was in Berlin for business trip. So I want to make comparisons. the rib in this place is really good, juicy which tastes sweet, perhaps with lemon and honey in the sauce. The size of the rib is not that big and long compared with other places where I tried before. But I like it because it is easier to handle with folk or bare hand. The fry is too big per chip you can tell from my photo uploaded. I don't like but the fry's flavor is impressive. anyway I will try again in next trip.

I am not a Frankfurt fan. It is one of the most boring cities, ever... Been there for 3 days work training with other colleagues and we tried to have dinner on a normal week evening in the city centre, just like that, without reserving a table. BIG MISTAKE, after we were rejected in 3 different restaurants ("sorry, we have no free table before 22:00...) we came across the meatpackers. The place was packed (sorry for the pun) and they told us that we have to wait 5-10 minutes, but luckily we got a table shortly after. Unbelievable, but we had the nicest and the most professional waitress from all the waitresses that we had had in Frankfurt during our stay. It a very crowded place, she was just charming, efficient and professional. Regarding the food - well, an American Diner... no real surprises.... (but not that bad either...)

Well. I can confirm most of the different opinions written here. The time of the day is besides of the waiter's quality an important factor. When we regulary went here after our weekly bowling sessions the nonverbal communication with the bartender worked perfectly through the whole restaurant. The onion loaf is smashing! And the burgers are great. That's what I call a real american burger. (**) Unfortunately they missed to serve some baseball bats to the patrons so they can remind the waiter to do their job! () The standard drinks like Mai Tai, Zombies and Margaritas are good. The Planter's Punch was well different. It is a little bit strange that they serve cocktails in pitchters - but you get used to this after a while.

Went there w/ high expectations as the restaurant was highly rated. First challenge was the drinking menu - strange choice of beers. OK, you could order a couple of them in a bucket, but mostly Anheuser Busch crap. I ordered a burger and asked for "medium". Unfortunately when the burger arrived, I figured out, that the burger meet was pre-produced and not cooked as ordered. The burger was worth only "one" star maximum. The service was slow, but friendly. So "two" stars are good enough for the experience. I will not repeat the visit!

we ordered a supreme nacho platter and it came out cold with the cheese half melted. So we sent it back to have the redo it and make a fresh platter. When we got it back, they I am certain they just stuck it back in the microwave because the cheese was too hard and I had taken a picture of it before sending it back and they didn't move anything. asked them to take it off the check as we sent it back the 2nd time. the other food we ordered which was a steak and burger was not that bad, but we have had better! don't know if I'd come back here.

Well I must say, that the name is catchy, no argument there. But beeing a real cocktail fan I must say they simply don't make good quality cocktails. For starters the glasses are smaller than I would expect, and definitely smaller than at other places. Food is good though. And the location is not that bad either: opposite to the ECB. So what we usually do is go to the Meatpackers and then move on to Living (it is virtually across the street) :) cheers

A four star for looking for American style food in Franfurt (though would be a 3 in the US)... Service was GREAT! Portions substantial and a fairly good value for the food, though perhaps not the drinks. Good atmosphere and fun to watch the trains.

Being that I am an American living in Germany I was looking for a place that served authentic American hamburgers for a long time and was delighted with not only the hamburgers, but also the fries at Chicago Meatpackers. More importantly, we had gone there on my wife's birthday so we were in a celebratory mood that the server only made better with his helpful advice and friendly service. We'll be back ... often!!!

If you are a foodie and like burgers and meat is not the place for you. Is more decor than a real burger place. Got tasteless wings and boring cheese burger. Disappointing as I went there thanks to Yelp reviews.

Quite tasty steak restaurant. But you should order the steak without sauce. So that you can enjoy the real beef taste. Portions are big and very US authentic. Just a little bit too noisy environment.

The wings, the beer and the bar maids are good. But the ribs and the burger just aren't. Burgers come out of the freezer and the ribs have been on the grill for 2 hours making them dry and extremely chewy. And then they tried to cover everything up by adding tons of sauce to everything. Not worth going there.

I dont know why other people gave high scores but my beer was warm; i had the coldest beer in the main touristic area. So there is no excuse for that . I have ordered vegeterian wrap ; all inside the wrap was lettuce and red & green peppers with the salad sauce u can buy from supermarket. I can also chop vegetables and put salad sauce in a wrap even though im the worst cook and mine would be better as i would put avacados, courgettes, aubergines and all other vegetables that can count as vegatable.

I went there with a friend on a Friday noon in February 2016. The restaurant is well decorated and the meal choices are diverse and interesting. However, even if the restaurant was almost empty, we had to go look for the waiter to order and then go look for him to pay. Each time we succeed to make him come to our table, he was much unpleasant. With my friend we decided not to tip that guy. What was his reaction? Repeating very loud that tips were not included in the bill. Then, he left us and started complaining very loud in the whole restaurant about us not tipping him. Man, before asking to get a tip, try to do your job correctly and be nice with your customers!!! Never again even if the food was alright and the restaurant quite nice

The restaurant looks and feels old and the waiters seem uninterested and undervalued. Food was ok but it tasted pre-cooked and warmed up on demand (apart from my wife's as her dinner was cold) Menus were sticky and dirty and the general ambience was poor. The owners need to invest quickly to ensure longevity.

For homesick Americans, this place is very authentic. Only the icewater on the table and the immediate check are still German style. We had ribs and a rump steak; ribs were great but a little salty. Steak was ok. TGIFridays decor but better; lots of stockyard theme memorabilia befitting a place named for the famous Chicago stockyards and the workers who labored there. The onionblossom that so many rave about below seems to be off the menu. Portions are huge. We had a great time and waddled home with full bellies.

Ordered 2 burgers. They were not hot. Tasted terrible. Not real meat, almost like frozen and microwaved. I told the waiter, he said sorry and walked away. Although I did not eat, we were still charged for the burger. I was never offered to change it to something else. Would never come back here again.
