Chicago South Loop Hotel

Front desk employees were very nice. Hotel did not have breakfast available. Room had stains on the wall and hair in the shower drain upon arrival. The smoke detector was gone from the wall. Only one elevator worked. Free parking was nice. Not too far of a walk from McCormick. Overall the hotel was dated and rundown.

Positive: free parking, its great breakfast is now offered, centrally located Negative: fitness equipment always broke (treadmill). Stayed 3 separate occasions, treadmills (2) never working. Housekeeping policy is terrible; if stay 3 nights expectation bathroom to be cleaned and fresh towels at least once without asking or insisting.

The folks working were so kind and helpful, it really almost made the rough time we had with the room worth it. But, when your mini fridge doesn't work, the heat has the room at 100 degrees when you get in, the shower/tub are warm at best with bad water pressure, the ice machine and vending machine don't work, and the tv is smaller than most computer monitors these days, I can understand why the rooms were $75/night. If you're okay with roughing it for a couple nights, I've been in far worse, and the location is close to some great food and venues to walk or get a taxi. But it was a tough couple days.

The hotel is in a great location. 5 min from Chinatown. 15 to navy pier. However the hotel itself is pretty sketchy. There are 3 elevators in the hotel and durning our stay all three broke down. The elevator inspection was past due by years. I think it said it expired in 2019/2020. There was also no working ice machine on any of the 5 floors so we couldn’t get any filtered water at all. Loud music and smell of weed in the hallways. You know this is definitely a hotel book to hook up. A car was broken into on our last night here and we saw people taking with the cops durning our checkout. The staff was so kind and welcoming. The hotel is affordable in a good location. Can’t check all the boxes.

For the price, this is an amazing hotel. I used this hotel for RSNA at McCormick Convention Center this year, and this will be my go to hotel every year. The staff is incredibly kind. The room was clean. Its a bit of a sketchy appearing walk to the convention center but there are plenty of cars driving around so I never felt unsafe.

One star only for comfortable king-size bed and soft pillows. Everything else was horrible: no shampoo and shower gel in dispensers, only 1 tiny soap bar and lotion for 2 people who stay for 3 nights. We have asked twice on reception to fill them, bring more soap and screw a lightbulb in the bed lamp - nothing was done. Blanket was with pee and blood stains, empty minibar, runny tap in the bathroom and weak pressure in the shower. Poor heat and noise insulation so I could hear loud music from other room and my husband got sick. Elevator was working from time to time, so we had to bring down our luggage using stairs. Breakfast was poor as well with not fresh products and how am I supposed to add frozen milk to porridge to brew it?! Baking goods were with mold smell so we didn’t eat anything except fruit and tea. Regarding location: too far from center and we didn’t feel safe, I was always worried about our car as on the parking place near the hotel were cars from the neighbourhood but not hotel guests so in the evening it was fully parked and management carried no responsibility if smth would happen to your car. We have been to 13 countries and we ran to check out earlier for a day because we couldn’t stay anymore in this neglected place. We really regret choosing this hotel and no one will refund you all the discomfort caused.

Honestly, I was worried about staying here after reading the reviews for this hotel. However, my stay here was generally a pleasant one. The lady at the reception was welcoming and very kind. The elevators worked. The electric room key worked. The room was very clean. There were no cockroaches or bugs. The lightings worked. There were new soaps in the bathroom. There were functioning amenities like fridge, iron, and A/C. Room was quiet and the curtains worked. Oh, forgot to mention you get free parking. Only downsides would be that due to the location it required a bit of walking to subway (but you can catch a bus right outside), there were no facilities, the interior was bit outdated and sometimes there were homeless near the entrance. Otherwise, for the price, I felt like it was a bargain.

I stayed at this hotel from Dec 31st to Jan. 2nd. Upon entering the room my first thought was, it was clean, no ironing board for the iron, no microwave, but did have a refrigerator. Goes to the sink, boom!!! No Hot water!!!! My friend called it t in, and was told they will have it taken care of. Next day awaken to no hot water. This is New Year Day 2025, no hot water, my friend called the desk at 8:00 am, and was told the boiler was out and the maintenance guy is coming to fix/ repair it, and she stated , “ we can’t make them come out or hurry them. At 11:30 I myself called, because it felt frisky to me, “ something just ween’t right. So I asked the female receptionist why we still don’t have hot water, and that the water had to be already off prior to us arriving here. She stated it going to be fix when the guy gets there. Then I said to her, the building can’t have just one boiler, therefore the whole building can’t be out of hot water. Her reply: half the building got hot water. I said that can’t be, then she said, “ almost the whole building got hot water.” I said to then give us another room. She stated it will be on the 5th floor, I said that fine, and thank you. When my friend picked up the key card, they had switched from the 5th to the 3rd floor. We gets to that room, nice and warm looking rather clean. Boom!!!’!!!!!!!!!! My friend notice immediately, No chair at the desk, No ironing board, No coffee maker ( just the tray with coffee and pack ), No lamp cover on the lamp between the two beds. The lamp on desk didn’t work. TV didn’t work!!! The heater motor were loud. Remind you we had a two-day say. I failed to mention, in the first room upon awakening I noticed a raised bump on the back side of my upper arm ( big fluid filled). When I gets home more, back of neck, and other arm, and my hip more are appearing down my arm. Never again this hotel or any Pls don’t go by the other good ratings. Pls take the bad experience into consideration!!!!

I really enjoyed my stay here. Checking in was a breeze and the staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby area was very classy, well decorated and comfortable. I found the room to be clean, quiet and spacious. It had lots of natural light, high ceilings with a mini-fridge and office area, the beds were comfortable and all the furniture was very modern. The parking was free, had a locking gate as well as night security, I felt very confident with my vehicle there overnight. I would highly recommend!

No hot water, smells like a nursing home, elevator broken on and off, fitness center has weights thrown all over the floor and some of the equipment doesn't work. The bathroom in our room is dumpy and rusty. No storage space by the sink or any shelves. It looks barely cleaned. There's no hot water? And apparently this happens a lot? Wi-Fi is terrible - we can barely use it. There's also no service in the hotel anywhere so there's no way to even use data instead. Some windows on the inside are covered in brown paper like they're abandoned businesses. The phone in our room doesnt work to call the front desk about any of the (many) issues. The rug in the room is torn up so there are giant strips where it's partially detached. The AC is from about 1970. The IT guy was really nice when he came to fix our tv (which also didn't work).

No one was at the desk when I arrived. The security guard stated she was on lunch and didn't know when she would arrive. I waited a few minutes then she finally arrived. The elevators are down at times and I could not locate a staircase. Also, when I called for late check out the late night manager refused.

Stayed here for the first time and did not like it! Paid more than $200 a night but it was not worth it! Upon arrival, I was greeted by a rude and unfriendly short African American young lady. Beside her overall poor attitude, she never gave me information about their free WiFi and I had to call from the room to get that information. Entire hotel smell with weed and other drugs. Some areas are very stronger than the others. Entering the room, I realized that AC was not cooling as it is supposed to. Fridge was also barely cooling. Water flow in the bathroom's faucet was very low. Shower pressure was fine. Their free Internet is horrible. Extremely slow speed and it would disconnect often. This is a big hotel yet pretty much everyday I stayed their elevator would go out of service! They don't notify or put any notification in the lobby or anything like that. Our toilet flush started to leak and it turns out that it had heavily worn out flapper. Our shower soap ran out and it was never refilled. They also charge $100 deposit for any damages. Hotel is conveniently located next to the major freeway and very close to the downtown. They have an ample free parking on site. Train and bus stops are within reasonable walking distances as well. They do have microwave but it is in the lobby. This hotel is old and worn out. Drugs smell are everywhere. It needs to be renovated. Specially internet needs to be fixed. I will pay more and stay somewhere else.

Staff were friendly, rooms are okay. Downside of things, there are no electric outlets near the bed (you have to walk across the room to charge your phone). The internet and television service didn't work. There was 1 main elevator working and it kept going down, everyone had to use the service elevator. Upside, parking is included and the location is convenient.

The Good: The rooms were clean and decent. Not sound proof by any means. Check OUT was fast. The Bad: The front desk person Ms. Jackie was incredibly rude to everyone, not just in our traveling party but everyone checking in. She would not let anyone check in one moment before 3 pm on the dot. There were probably 60 people waiting for check-in in the lobby and she wouldn't service anybody at all. She answered questions very rudely and didn't put the guests first at all. There is no breakfast here. There is no extras. Parking is a nightmare. Even in their lot. The elevator takes forever to get to you. You will have to take stairs. Conclusion. We will be back to Chicago. We will not stay here. Ms. Jackie needs to retire or find a job not working with others.

This has been the worst hotel stay ever!!! We used to stay here pre COVID-19, but now the hotel's service is sorely lacking. They did not consistently clean the hotel room, and when they did, they never brought sufficient towels for two people. They instituted a new rule for cleaning rooms in the middle of our stay, but we were not told about this new rule. They locked us out of our room because they put down the wrong departure date, which just underscores the sloppyness and general disregard for customer service experienced during this stay. We are very disappointed but can pay a better-run hotel our thousands of dollars.

Great place! My husband and I love road trips and we have been in different hotels for 2 weeks. This is one of the best so far. Starting with FREE parking that's a plus when we talk about Chicago were parking is so expensive. I called around 6 hotels asking for parking and all of them were $50+ parking fee per day, so yes it's a great deal. Location is great, near to the Millennium park and Chinatown. The room is big, very clean, smells good, the bathroom is clean and have the necessary stuff. We stayed 2 night and the price was pretty good and the staying was pleasant. The place was quiet and the service was good too.

When we arrived to check in, we were informed that the internet was down and we would not be able to check in and would have to find a new hotel to stay at.

One of the worst hotel experiences ever. Rude, inattentive staff. Zero respect for cleanliness and customer service.

I booked this hotel for this week through a travel partner associated with sports housing. The allure to booking this hotel was that it was listed as a Wyndham hotel McCormick center. Since we were playing at the McCormick center and it's proximity was best, I felt it would be the best choice for my family. I was wrong! This hotel is not attached to McCormick center, it is about 9 blocks/15-20 minute outside walk. The area in which this hotel was located led to experiences that I did not expect my children to have to witness. This is why our 4 night stay turned into a 2 night stay and moving hotels, at a higher cost. While our room was functional, despite the broken closet door, it was not very clean. We did have one of the better rooms, as our friends dealt with non functioning televisions, air conditioner units, and insects. The staff at this hotel were very accommodating at every juncture! They allowed our friends to move rooms and offered assistance in every way that they could. Ultimately, we made the decision to vacate the hotel. The staff was understanding and refunded our money for the last two nights that we had pre booked/paid. We will not stay at this hotel again in the future.

This hotel was recently acquired by Wyndham and I stayed here for my daughters volleyball tournament and the rooms were filthy with food pushed all along the walls from previous guest. The old stained rug was sticky and somehow wet. We were moved to a different room with the air conditioning not working while the temperature outside was well into the high 80's. The room was soooo hot I was impossible to sleep. the hotel really makes me never want to stay at another Wyndham property again

Pretty solid place and a great deal for the money. Free parking too. Couple of things that kept it from a five star rating: we walked in and there was a to go box with someone's half eaten sanwhich on the desk, the clock wasn't flashing but it wasn't even close to right and tthe water pressure was somewhat intermittent, so it could get real hot real quick. The staff was wonderful and we will definitely try this place again.

The location of this hotel is terrible. If you have kids I suggest not staying here. This hotel is good for just a one night stay. You get a hit and miss with the ladies in front meaning some are mean some are really nice. The key card always deactivates so I had to go downstairs twice and it still would not work. The TV does not work. It needs satellite and it doesn't even reach the rooms. The rooms look old and not that clean. Pillows suck and they only give you two. Don't expect much here. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It was not worth the $650 for 3 nights. Could have booked a more decent hotel with that price. Parking is free though which is nice but the area is not in a safe area so theft can be possible. They didn't even have conditioner. It was a 2-1 shampoo conditioner.

I caught a Lyft here from the airport. The hotel was easy to find. I prepaid so check-in was easy. The room was really big and housed all 4 of us easily. The hallways were very quiet and front desk staff were friendly. I dont think the hotel is in the safest location. I asked the hotel staff if there was a restraunt in walking distance and she said she wouldn't recommend that a female walks by herself in this area. I was SUPER appreciative of her response. I am so happy she thought about my safety first. The hotel could use a really good deep cleaning. Our room was really dusty. The walls had soooooo much dust on them. The carpet did too. Our room faced the train so every 5 minutes or so we would hear the train. It was very annoying and loud at first but afte re awhile, I got used to it. This is not a fancy hotel. There is no toiletry items so if you forget something, you are out of luck. Oh wait, they did have shampoo and a body wash dispenser in the shower. Speaking of the shower, the tub was deep and very long. The water pressure was perfect. If you need a decent place to stay, this Is your place. It was really affordable and the staff had great customer service. There is a small cafe on site. The breakfast food was affordable and good. It's really small so only about 10 people can be in there at a time. If that. I wish I could give this place a 3.5 because overall, I think that's the rating I would give them.

The Chicago South Loop Hotel has both good and not so good qualities. It's a great location, adjacent to several Chicago area attractions and close to the L if you want to go further. They also have free parking for customers, which is a great perk. The hotel itself is welcoming. The lobby is clean. Our room was spacious and while it was clean, the fixtures were looking a little on the rough side. We got to our room at night and in the light of the day it looked far scruffier than it did the night before. That said, the beds were clean and comfy. The bathroom was also clean and they had a huge tub. The room had all of the basic amenities except for a microwave. Definitely consider this property as an option. The price is competitive and the location is great. If they'd just upgrade some of the fixtures I'd easily give them another star.

When we checked in we had two other people ahead of us in line. both asking to cancel their reservation because the hotel air conditioning was broke and the room was filthy. I checked in and was given a room that was occupied (by people who I walked in on.) It was very embarrassing. I was given a room that wasn't clean, the sinks and drains were plugged so it was disgusting taking a shower or washing my face. While the front desk was kind and accommodating. We witnessed homeless people walking in and out of the building yelling random words and making us feel very uncomfortable. Fireworks were going off all hours of the night right outside our room by locals who kept us up all night. We didn't get any sleep. There was what appeared to be a homeless man sleeping in the parking lot near my car. There was no security on the property. We left after the first night. I wish I trusted my gut when I was in line to check in. The graffiti on the walls and the location of the hotel with the Wyndham flag placed over top of the hotel sign out front was my first clue. I should've listened to my gut. Paying $230 a night was just about the stupidest thing Ive ever done. it wasn't worth $50. We were also told not to leave the hotel at night as it wasn't safe.

I stayed here for one night on a Tuesday. The check in process was fast and the staff was nice. They have a gated/secure parking lot - you scan your key to open the gate. After 8 pm you need to use your key to unlock the doors to the building as well. The hallways look pretty dated but inside the room looked nice. The room had a full length mirror, which I thought was a nice touch. The bathroom floor was icy cold - but the bath tub and shower were the best thing about the room. The water pressure was great and the shower was tall. I loved that the bathtub was much bigger than the usual hotel bathtub - both in length and height, so you could comfortably take a bath, even if you are tall. Our room was on the second floor, I'm a light sleeper and was surprised how quiet it was, except a little sound from the train -but then there was beeping/honking from construction at 0700. I noticed the lobby and connected hallways have a scent, I'm sure it's an air freshener however it's just a little stronger than I would think is normal. If you're scent-sensitive, you will want to keep that in mind.

Very clean and well kept. Front desk very polite and friendly. Very disappointed the housekeeping staff went through our closed bags when we were out and stole around $300 cash. The hotel manager did handle the situation very well and worked it out with us but very disappointed that even happened to begin with. There is not a safe that comes with the room so I suggest you bring something to lock if you plan on leaving anything worth value. Be aware of the area before you book the hotel, we did not have any issues and had a good stay but a cab driver said not to go walking any further in one direction past the hotel for safety reasons.

Chicago South Loop Hotel Camille checked us in quickly ad efficiently. Free parking is always a plus! The hallways was nicely lit, but a bit cold. There was full Directv for channels, some hotels usually just have the basic channels. I liked having a Mini-fridge in the room since we stayed for multiple nights. There's a microwave in the business center. I didn't use the computers but they're macs for all my Apple lovers out there. There's a cafe and salon in the hotel. I didn't make it to the cafe but I did pop in to get my hair and nails done. It was so convenient having these services right downstairs! The room was spacious, almost awkward to have the tv so far away from the bed so we pulled it up. Two of the hand towels weren't clean, my boyfriend said one of them looked like it had a boot print on it. Ya know, like when you use your foot to push around a towel so you don't have to bend over to clean up a spill. The fitted sheet had these black marks on the corner of the bed and the sheets were turned inside out. I don't want to believe that housekeeping saw the marks and put the sheet on inside out to hide it but it still showed through so that's how I thought to look under the sheet. The less than clean towels and linens made me a little paranoid but my boyfriend and I have stayed in so many hotels that unfortunately this isn't the first time we've seen this or had any of the other issues I've mentioned. But the hotel staff honestly responded very quickly and decently to all concerns. Like when our hot water didn't fully come out, maintenance came and fixed it as soon as I made the complaint. The staff really made the experience, that and the dark wood furniture. I'm a sucker for good looking furniture. We would stay here again.

3.5 Second time staying here. This experience was a lot different than the prior experience. I loved the free and gated parking lot with key card only access. All of the front desk staff that we talked to or worked with were friendly and responsive. It was quiet during our stay (Wednesday through Friday) and common areas like main lobby were really clean. The location is great as well! In our room, the ac was awful! It never got really cold or stayed consistent. It would get cold and then cycle around to the fan and then get back cold. Our room wasn't the cleanest. We found old candy behind the night stand and lots of strands of hair on the floor that should have easily been picked up with a basic and thorough vacuuming. We never had ice in our machine so my husband had to go to other floors to get ice. Front desk buttons on our phone didn't work so that should be updated on the phones. WiFi was also pretty spotty throughout our stay.

The location of this hotel makes the stay worth it. Here are a few tips... Request a room the faces the parking lot. Otherwise, you'll be hearing sirens all night. Housekeeping didn't seem to come every day. If you see them outside in the morning grab fresh towels from them just in case. The front desk takes a long time to answer when you call. The gate to enter the secure parking lot is very narrow. Go slow so you don't scrape your car. ***The tub is DEEP! with no grab bar of any kind! Be careful you don't slip and fall down the drain :) They are Jacuzzi tubs without the jets. That's weird. This should be a safety concern. Great location. I stayed here before so I know what to expect. Great value for the price. Not a luxe location, but it is clean and decent. The restaurant is closed for renovations.

Not sure where to start. Stayed here for 4 nights and couldn't wait to go home. Usually hotel stays are relaxing but not this one. One of the people we were traveling with got locked out of her room for the entire night. They tried to use a crow bar to get the door open, but that didn't work. She had to sleep in another room for the night without her belongings. They finally got her into her room the next morning by removing the door from its hinges. To me, this poses a MAJOR safety concern. If a child got locked in a room, if someone was having a medical emergency, and they have no way to override the lock to get into the room? Very strange. Rooms were very worn down. No real AC, room was hot and stuffy, shower had no water pressure, towels were itty bitty, no liquid hand soap, bed was TINY, I'm 5'2 and my feet were hanging off the edge of the bed paid over $1000 for 4 nights so not like it was a cheap hotel for a cheap rate. I'm not high maintenance by any means but this hotel had nothing going for them. Would not recommend.

The moment I walked into the spacious lobby I knew this would be an excellent stay. The Chicago South Loop Hotel proved to be a beautiful and comfortable place to rest in the center of a bustling city. Each common area was tastefully decorated and the rooms spacious and comfortable. A short Uber ride to anywhere downtown or you can use their available shuttle to reach the nearby convention center. Reasonably priced, consider this property when you are planning your next visit to the windy city.

Honestly can't remember a better hotel experience, from the time I checked in, until the time I checked out. The staff is absolutely amazing and so is everything about the hotel! The hotel location is awesome. It's close to everything and getting around is easy. This property is clean, super nice and well maintained! The room was so spacious, clean and quiet with a very comfortable bed, a living room area and the bathtubs here are so big, you can take a relaxing soak. They have a very large business center with a few computers/printer and coffee machine! The staff was so helpful with whatever I needed during my three day stay while I performed at Zanies Chicago. It was the best experience on my Midwest tour and I can't wait to go back and stay here again!

Chose this hotel solely on location and price- It was the only decent place not too far from the stockyards, where work called. Something was going on in town because all my usual haunts outside of the Peninsula were booked or charging $400+ a night. So, this place- No bar, was under construction- Zero aesthetic value- no attempt whatsoever to give any style. Reminded me of an old tired, courtyard by Marriott from the 80's. The room had a freakin miniscule flatscreen, like maybe 16" vizio from Costco. One of the earlier models from like 2006. It was semi-clean and showing a lot of wear and tear. Did not get bed bug bites, but the carpet in the room was looking pretty dodgy. I doubt I will stay here again.

Hotel was unremarkable, but it was ideal for my purposes. Just needed a place to sleep while visiting family, didn't use any of the hotel ammenities. Bed was relatively comfortable and room was clean. Bare bones supplies in bathroom: shampoo dispenser and body wash dispenser in the shower, small lotion and bar of soap. Lobby was clean. Staff friendly and accommodating. I needed to extend my reservation by one night and they made that happen even though they mentioned it was booked. $144/night. Free Wi-Fi worked great. Free parking lot for guests and I found a spot easily each night. I had access to a car, just a heads up that there is no train/public transportation nearby. The hotel is kind of in the middle of nowhere and borders a run-down area. Cabs are probably the way to go for access to rest of the city.

I just stayed at the Chicago South Loop on a business trip ... And i enjoyed every moment especially this one house keeper who was very nice and always giggles i believe her name was Mari ! She was a such a free spirit ! My room was always clean and smelling fabulous everything was in order and put in place very sweet lovable person we need more like her . Thanks so much A.C

I was in town for a funeral and only needed to stay for a night. The employees were very pleasant. Easy check in. Free parking. Now this an old dated hotel. First impressions made me want to cancel and go on a search for other lodging but I had come many miles and I already knew that would be close to impossible.... there were no rooms in the area due to the Bears game so I had no choice but to stay here in the first place. So, I walked in the room and it was old and dated like I expected. It appeared to be clean. I decided to relax and take a shower. When I showed the water failed to drain so I'm showering in standing water...Gross. I know when housekeeping cleaned the tub they knew this...unless they didn't clean it. Anyway, I decided just to go to bed, which was ok. Bed was clean and comfy cause I checked the linen. Relief! Well, the air conditioner went out in the middle night. My husband got up twice to try to get it to work. It was not a good night sleep. The remote didn't work unless you stood directly in front of the TV. No channel surfing from the bed. Also, they hold a $100 incidental fee on my credit card...on top of the $239 I paid to basically have shelter for one night. Let's see how long it takes to get my $100 back. So, if you're in need of an over priced roll of the dice accommodations then this spot is for you.

Really solid hotel for the value. Paid about $140/night, as opposed to over $200 downtown. The location is a little farther away from the city if you don't have a car, as it is a 30 minute bus ride to the city on route #29, which stops just outside the hotel. It is also on the South side of Chicago, so kind of shady outside, but never felt unsafe while I was there. The building itself is old, but the inside is still fairly nice and has a gym, bar, business center, and even a salon. The staff is accommodating and had no real issues with them. The room I stayed in was enormous (definitely an older style) and the new Serta mattresses on the beds were comfy.

The lobby looks like a three star hotel, but little else is. The location is pretty much in the ghetto. I'm pretty sure there are some projects behind the hotel and there are overgrown, nasty empty lots immediately adjacent. One spot in the fence around the parking lot is bent up, like someone tried to break in. It is about 15-20 minutes from downtown, and frankly the price tag of $200 is not worth the horrible location and lack of amenities. It is worth it to get a downtown hotel, which you can find for about the same price. Other than the location, the inside of the hotel is nice. I liked the tasteful art and decor, however the amenities were sparse. There is no pool, sauna, or jacuzzi, which was very disappointing as my husband packed the bikini he loves me to wear. The workout center and business center were acceptable and about average. The cafe, restaurant, and gift shop were never open and breakfast was not available. Parking was free, unless you have two cars ($10/night/extra car). The rooms were nice and clean. The beds were very comfortable, and the size of the suites were acceptable. The bathrooms were average for a 3 star. There were plenty of windows and good lighting. There was a refrigerator but no microwave.

A nice experience with a friendly staff capable of accommodating us upon a very late night arrival. Even under the conditions of errors under the reservations they rapidly and pleasantly assisted us to meet our needs. Pleasant lobby booming with relaxing plants and comfortable couches all over. Rooms were up to par with several other larger chain hotels and as clean and comfortable as you can get. This hotel is what I imagined a big city hotel would be like as a kid. Big glossy floors and large original paintings, and a cool tile mosaic compass rose in the elevator. There is a cute coffee shop downstairs with super friendly service and delicious breakfast! We had a beautiful view from our window and could get around town easily from this home base. I booked the Chicago South Loop Hotel solely based on the availability of free parking, so I was a little wary when I read the reviews here on Yelp. However, when we arrived, I felt comfortable and safe, not at all worried about the area the hotel is in. The night we checked in, the hotel computers were having some issues, but the staff handled everything pretty well and we were able to check in after a short wait. The hotel itself is pretty dated but the room we were in was large, with a lounge area with a couch and a mini fridge. The bed was really comfortable and the room was clean. I didn't notice much street noise so that was good. The free parking was great! Fortunately the lot was nearly empty so we had plenty of spaces to choose from. Be sure to read the instructions for parking carefully as they seem to have a lot of rules (i.e., you aren't supposed to back into a space as you might be towed). I did have trouble with my key card upon checking in - fortunately, there was a maintenance person who happened to be in the hallway as I was trying to get in to the room. He said he thought the time change messed up the keys and door system if they were off from each other. He was able to fix it and even changed the batteries in the door lock. My group and I only stayed one night, but as we were driving around nearby we noticed quite a few restaurants within walking distance. It's not too far from downtown - about 10 minutes driving without traffic. I would probably stay here again for the convenience of parking and proximity away from downtown.

The Chicago Loop Hotel is a diamond in the rough. Located about 15 minutes from downtown Chicago depending on traffic. Free parking in rear. Very clean space. Nice lobby area and great staff. The manager is very friendly and accommodating. They take care of you here.

The Chicago South Loop Hotel was a perfect stay for our group. We were greeted by the friendly and experienced Ms. Jackie at the front desk who checked us in and told us about the many amenities that the hotel had. She was the best. Pool, breakfast cafe, work out room, and large public seating areas in the lobby. The rooms were large and spacious with great light and a large desk/work area, Comfortable beds with really nice pillows. The area was quite and our stay was relaxing.

The Chicago South Loop Hotel is far cheaper than many downtown properties; however, it's not worth the discount. Among the positives are its free parking and relatively convenient location if you'll be attending events in the South Loop, Bronzeville, or Hyde Park. Further, the rooms are rather large and offer a "lounge" area and refrigerator. With all that said, I found my room to be in a state of disrepair and dirty. Specifically, the exposed piping below the bathroom sink was noticeably broken, and a dirty dishrag was positioned between cracks without care. In addition to a large number of scuff marks and chipped paint, there were actual drippings on the bathroom wall. I'm sure that attentive cleaning staff would have been able to clean these off. Dust covered the window sills, there was a piece of hair in the shower (I showered with flip flops on), and the bureau desk did not appear to have been thoroughly wiped. I also noticed stains on the couch. For obvious reasons, I wasn't at all comfortable with sleeping. Luckily, the linen appeared to be clean and I wasn't bitten. All in all, stay if you must-but, beware.

The wifi doesn't connect on all devices. You cannot stream ANYTHING from this hotel. The refrigerators hardly work. Everything is just old and out of service. A 60$ motel would be exactly the same quality.

Very disappointing for what you pay. It's not in a great neighborhood, needs A LOT of updating, and 90% the the staff we interacted with were rude and/or not helpful. Carpets in rooms had tons of stains and our closet door wouldn't close. The front doors were supposed to be locked and only accessible with a hotel key, but the entire lock was removed from the doors so anyone could enter. Not a safe environment! The bath towels were child-sized so each adult needed 3-4 to cover their body. We only received (3) so when we asked for extra towels and our room to be serviced, and our request was met with eye rolls, ridicule or just told 'no.' The only person who was friendly & helpful was the "bodyguard/housekeeping/janitor" (yes, that's right...he said he was the hotels bodyguard who also was housekeeping & the janitor!!). DO NOT STAY HERE!!

The Chicago South Loop Hotel offers a unique and delightful experience. This hotel is a blast from the past in all the best ways. The south Loop hotel offers a homey retro experience. The lobby is very comfortable with a spacious layout of nice leather couches and ample lounging areas. Retro jazz art is featured all throughout the hotel to accompany the old school but modern feel of the south loop. The front desk is kind and offers an array of snacks and beverages. The housekeeping staff was exceptionally nice and attentive. The room was incredibly spacious with two queen sized beds and two arm chairs with a coffee table. The bathroom was large with nice shower/tub combo equipped with hair care and body wash dispensers. The South Loop also offers a hair Solon, a cafe restaurant and a business center with several computers and printers/copy machines. the fitness center is nice offering free weights, a multi gym and treadmills and ellipticals. The Chicago South Loop hotel is a wonderful and retro experience with all the modern accommodations you desire.

Our company booked this for a convention and it's was pretty awful. Nearly on top of the train so there is no way to sleep. Sketchy people walking around the hall. A lamp without an outlet to plug into. My husband Suggested I put a chair in front of my door after seeing the sketchy people in the hall. WTH! The people working there all nice but the hotel and location were bad news-Don't let the lobby pics fool you.

I got a room at the South Loop Hotel, it wasn't my first choice but there was a huge concert going on in the city and other hotels were sold out. I was visiting town for a friend's birthday and I wanted to have a "vacay" so I was hoping stay at a place with a pool and other amenities like a bar/ lounge and restaurant. Well South Loop Hotel has none of that. They had a cafe that is run privately by another owner and the times they are open are always "subject to change". They were never open! Lol. The front desk offered a few snacks and water but other than that.. no bueno. It was clean, the room was nice and so was the staff but it's nothing special with no special amenities.

I haven't stayed at a hotel since I was in 1st grade and I barely remember how that was. But my boyfriend and I booked a room here for the weekend of Lollapalooza! I had a great experience here! The hotel room was nice and cold, which I loved because I get too hot, especially in the summer. The staff was very nice and helpful. I was a little worried at first because I had called the hotel several times before we checked in and the staff members weren't that helpful. But when we got there, it wasn't a problem! The room was decent sized. But everything was super duper clean! The bathroom was very nice and clean. I loved the smell of the body wash provided in the shower! The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows! Check in was smooth and easy. Check out was SUPER easy. They have a luggage cart, which was so helpful considering we had a ton of stuff. We had a very cool view from our room too. Parking was free, which was nice! No tickets or anything to worry about. This hotel is located in a super accessible area. We took uber to and from Lolla/Grant Park. The room had a decently sized fridge in the room! Only downsides are there was no microwave in our room, but however there was a microwave located in the business center on the first floor! Not as convenient but I'm still thankful there was an accessible microwave! And the other downside was the garbage cans in the room are kinda small, we generated a ton of garbage and we kept replacing the bag. But other than that, the hotel was great! The service was great! And it was nothing but clean here!!

Nice location - friendly and helpful staff - great rooms with solid showers We were very excited to book this hotel in Chicago. Upon check-in, the staff was attentive and helpful, going out of their way to make guests feel welcome. The location worked very well for us--it was a very nice walk (and even quicker drive) to a super beach off Lake Michigan (which we took advantage of right away) and close to pretty much all the things you want to do in Chicago. We were uncertain how parking would be (we have gear in our car) but were super relieved when they gave us a parking pass to a gate-locked parking lot in back. Major plus. The rooms were nice--quiet with big beds, clean and the best part...a shower with amazing water pressure! There was also a giant tub, which we took advantage of as well. Both things that are hard to find in most hotels this price. The TV, fridge and air conditioner all passed the test too so the room really fit all of our needs. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Chicago and recommend it to friends/family.

I just stayed at the South Loop Hotel this past weekend and I must say it was a pretty okay experience. I relocated from Chicago to Houston (sadly) a few years ago. I always miss the food, the culture, my friends & family so I often venture back. The location of the hotel was crucial for me since most of my friends stay in the Bronzeville/Hyde Park area. Very easily accessible to 90/94 and 55! The highlight of this hotel was their free parking. Free parking in Chicago is as rare as a pink & black unicorn, so that instantly sold me! The room was pretty decent at best. There were no bed bugs, no mold or dinginess to it. I will say however that I would have enjoyed my stay much more if my room was actually cleaned daily. I stayed a total of 4 nights and the ONLY time my room was even touched was when I called and told them it needed to be made up. Disappointed in that light. I found a good deal on Priceline. Their regular rates can be kind of steep. I would advise shopping around for discounts and deals.

The Chicago South Loop Hotel truly has it all. It's right in the city and close to pretty much everything you want to do on your visit to Chicago, but yet it has free parking! It's also very close to the freeway. Plus, the rooms are incredibly spacious, as are the bathtubs (the water pressure in the showers is also top notch). This property also has a huge lobby and business center (complete with printing). And the staff was friendly and knowledgeable about various things to do in Chicago. We had a great stay!

I stayed at The Chicago South Loop Hotel this past weekend. I was only there for a couple of days but had a really fun time! Location was great, located in historic Bronzeville made you feel more of a local and not just some tourist. The hotel itself being close to public transit made it easy to navigate the city since I've never been there. If trains aren't your thing, downtown Chicago is a short Uber away. Everyone at the front desk was so polite it was a nice thing to come back to after a cold Chicago walk. And the staff gave out several helpful tips and recommendations around the city. The room was spacious and modern. The room layout was a nice change of pace from the boring layout of some other hotels. My favorite part may have been the cafe inside the hotel that cooked an amazing breakfast that didnt break the bank! Definitely will be back!
