My partner and I ordered our wedding cake and cupcakes from Sugar Daddy and it was a wonderful experience. First, we were able to do our tasting in the shop alongside some close family members. They provided an assortment of cake, frosting, and filling flavors for us to mix and match and try out. It was such a fun time and really helped us narrow in on what we wanted for the big day. Second, Rayan and James worked well with our wedding planner, caterer, and venue to ensure the logistics were sorted out clearly. We didn't even see them during our wedding day, but they were able to move the cakes in quickly and efficiently. Not to mention, they did a wonderful job addressing our request for something simple and delicious. All of our guests raved about how tasty everything was! We've used them for other occasions before and we're so glad we were able to book them for our wedding. 10/10 - will work with them again in the future.

Their German Daddy cake is so delicate for a chocolate cake! The balance of the lightness of the icing, the richness of the pecans, and the depth of the actual cake is incredible and the presentation is absolutely gorgeous. James and the team took such good care of me and even offered me birthday candles upon pick up. This lovely cake was a delightful and elevated way for me to enter the end of a decade. <3

My wife surprised me with a cake from Chicago Sugar Daddy for my birthday and it was delicious! We also asked them to re-create our wedding cake for our first anniversary in 2024 which was also great. They not only make delicious cakes, they also make a bunch of Filipino desserts and cupcakes. Highly recommend!

I discovered Chicago Sugar Daddy Patisserie through the Halloween Baking Championship (season 9), so when my husband and I were visiting Chicago this past weekend we were delighted to visit. We bought 3 sweet treats, and they were so delicious. Our favorite was an Ube cookie- mighty flavor and perfect texture. I was so starstruck when I had a chance to meet James! He was incredibly kind and genuine.

This review is long overdue, but Chicago Sugar Daddy is AMAZING. I ordered a cake for my husband's 30th birthday and they created a cake that was beyond perfect and tasted even better! The hidden gem was that it was gluten free and vegan. You would have never known! All of the guests loved the cake and raved about it for days afterwards. Thank you for creating a great cake for us!

Sweet, tasty treats. Not too sweet, which is a plus. Quite a few Filipino flavors as well, from dulce de leche to pandan to ube. Would go back!

We ordered a custom cake from Sugar Daddy for our baby shower and it was spectacular. It looked exactly like I envisioned, and was so beautiful. And most importantly, it was incredibly delicious. Our guests were raving! Everyone in the bakery was so lovely and helpful. They worked with us on exactly what we wanted and it could not have been easier. I will absolutely return to Sugar Daddy the next time I need a cake, and if I’m ever walking past their storefront I will definitely stop in to grab some cupcakes to go!!

Best darn sausage roll I've ever had. It was so flaky, sweet, fresh, and made with quality ingredients. The young gentleman working at the registers with the earrings was super sweet to us too. Loved the spooky season decor too. Great service. Would absolutely go again.

A great neighborhood pastry shop with a talented chef who ended up Food Network. The place itself is pretty small, with only a few tables. It is definitely geared towards take-out or delivery but they have a nice selection of smaller treats. I stopped in and ordered two cookies and a latte, both were excellent. The staff was very extremely nice and checked to see if the espresso machine was up and running as most people only stop in for the baked goods and not the coffee. The Snickerdoodle sweet, buttery and the cinnamon really came through. The edges were nice and crispy while the middle was still slight soft. The My Ooh-Bae (Ube) Cookie was my girlfriend's favorite.

When they make pastries fresh for you, how can you not give them all the praise. We especially like the sylvana. Sylvana is like a giant macaroon only lighter, less sweet, but creamier and infinitely more Devine. Shout out to James and Ryan the proprietors for taking care of us.

So excited that I discovered Chicago Sugar Daddy while running errands in Lakeview. Friendly employees. I am a big connoisseur of Filipino baked goods, especially those that incorporate ube. Chicago Sugar Daddy delivered to my expectations! There is some seating inside so you can take a break while enjoying your pastries.

Great addition to the neighborhood! My friend ordered a birthday cake and had a wonderful experience, so I immediately made a note to pay a visit and am so glad I did! The shop is a quaint hole in the wall, and at 4pm on a Saturday the goods were almost all sold out - a great sign! The employees were super friendly and offered cake samples. I tried the ube cake with pandan frosting and WOW! Delicious, and not the easiest flavors to find in Chicago. Will be back for that alone. They also offer a slew of cookies, bars, scones and savory buns in both classic and adventurous flavors. This time, I opted for the vanilla cupcake with strawberry filling and vanilla buttercream. As a shortcake fan, it hit the spot and was light and not too sweet. I did wish the cupcake had more filling, and although it tasted fresh, it seemed just slightly over-baked. Maybe a fluke. Will definitely be back to try more of the great looking pastries, and definitely recommend making a stop if you're in the area!

Heard about this place after hearing Chef James competed on Food Network! They also incorporate filipino flavors into their pastries! This is a cute little pastry shop in Lakeview! The pandesal is a must! Pandesal is a filipino sweet bread usually eaten for breakfast with butter and/or cheese. I was hoping to try their sylvannas but they were not available when I went sadly. Id buy the Carmelita again because it was heavenly!

I was starving and just wanted something to snack on, so popped in and got a cupcake. The presentation looked delicious...however I couldn't even eat it. I had a knife and fork, and the cupcake and frosting was so dry it actually broke the plastic fork!! Honestly the worst cupcake I have ever had. It was a chocolate cupcake with blue frosting, with no flavor. Would never recommend this place.

Not very friendly and their display cases are almost always empty and it's not because they're sold out..they just don't bother to stock them

We stumbled upon Sugar Daddy randomly while on a day trip to Chicago. I bought 4 cupcakes and a piece of edgewater cake. In retrospect I should have bought every goddamn thing in the case. Every. Single. Bite. was literally the best bite of cake I've ever eaten in my life. Like literal heaven.. you know.. like when your eyes roll back in your head and you have a complete mental orgasm? The cake was SO moist and the cupcake flavors were SO good together. If I was on death row and I had a final meal choice I want a cake from Sugar Daddy then you can kill me. We were beyond amazed with our cake/ cupcakes and we are considering another 31/2 hour drive soon to buy more. Well done Sugar Daddy you completely rocked our world.

The strawberry short cake cupcake was so fresh tasting with whipped cream on top and fresh strawberries!

I used to have chocolate chip cookies a lot more than I do now. But I remember a basic rule that the cookie itself should be flavorful apart from the chips. This is the case at Sugar Daddy. Excellent cookies. If they can knock a chocolate chip cookie out of the park, it's a good sign. Not the one-note sugar bomb I've come to expect from bakery cookies. We'll be back, I'm sure. Very friendly and chill on a Sunday afternoon. So small that it's almost anxiety-provoking. But fine for picking up a snack to walk around with on a nice day.

I've been craving cookies but making a batch would be far too many so whilst I was around the corner from Chicago Sugar Daddy it seemed kismet, that I should stop in to grab something. They had lots of yummy-looking goodies, so I ended up with several somethings. I picked up a Zesty Daddy cupcake, a pride cupcake (chocolate), and a couple snickerdoodles and triple chocolate chip cookies. Surprisingly, I liked the lemon cupcake better. It had some poppyseeds in but not so packed full of them that it was a bother (I am not a huge fan of poppyseed). It was fairly moist and had a bit of filling... maybe lemon curd? Unsure. On the other hand, the pride cupcake looked pretty but wasn't very tasty at all. It was much denser, drier. Surprisingly lacked flavor for a chocolate cupcake. The cookies were the best of the bunch. The triple chocolate (I think that is what it was) had white and milk chocolate chunks, but I may have the name wrong because I'm not sure what the third was. My favorite was the snickerdoodle even though they were both quite good. In general chocolate chip isn't my favorite of all cookies so I'm not surprised I liked the 'doodle better. I didn't eat them both the same day; I saved the snickerdoodle for the next day and it was still quite moist (I put it in a ziplock bag). I actually saved half of the snickerdoodle for tomorrow and am looking forward to enjoying it then! This area of Lake View is short on parking but you could try your hand at it. Service was good; it was the people in front of me with a decision-making disorder that were annoying. They have a few seats at a counter at the window, and a couple tables, but probably you should plan to take your food to go.

Chef James - you are absolutely amazing lol. I ordered a two-tiered custom cake for my boyfriend's birthday and we're still in awe looking at it hours later. If you need a custom cake that is creative, funny, and somehow beautiful at the same time, this is 100000% your place. Rayan helped coordinate my ideas into the best cake of all time. Omg, I cannot thank or recommend this place enough. THANK YOU Chef James, you are the artist of all artists!!!

I've ordered a cake for my birthday for the last 2 years here, and they have both been amazing! This years was for my 80s themed party and I absolutely loved it! The staff is always so friendly when placing the order and picking up the cake! I would recommend for everyone to get their cake from Chicago Sugar Daddy! Not only did the cake look amazing, but it was also so delicious! All of my guests loved it!

You may die of diabetes but it'll be worth it. Maybe the richest tart/sheet pan brownie ever! The Sylvana is also quite amazing in flavor (flaky light and creamy). 1000% need to come back, everything looks to die for! Ps: definitely on the pricier end but this is chicago!

Love Sugar Daddy!! And the owners so adorable and welcoming, it just makes you want to support the business even more. With that aside, the sweet treats are absolutely phenomenal. I tried an assortment of baked goods, but one of my favorites was the carmelita. It's a brown butter cookie base topped with caramel and ganache. A must try!! You can place more custom or larger orders, but you can also swing by the storefront for some premade goodies and drip coffee. I've also placed a larger order here and the team was responsive and so wonderful to work with! They even let me borrow some tiered dessert trays. Great people and yummy treats. So happy to have Sugar Daddy here in Chicago!

The aroma as we Walked in was an experienc in itself! The service was attentive, attendant was engaged & made us feel welcome. Now the product! Is absolutely amazin, we had the chiffon coconut cake every bite was fenomenal!!! The mango cheesecake was Delicious as well as the tres leches cake absolutely 100% recommended my new found spot!! Better than molllys way better

I've been so grateful for Chicago Sugar Daddy since their opening! Having a bakery just a few steps from my apartment is both dangerous and delicious, but I'm so happy I get to support local whenever I get a craving! I went in today with hopes I might find a paczki and man...did I get lucky!! They were just putting out fresh ones, I grabbed a strawberry, raspberry and cookies and cream. All out of this world. I've also tried their cookies and those always hit. Staff is so friendly, I just can't praise this place enough. If you're in Lakeview East give them a try!

Didn't know I needed a Chicago Sugar Daddy in my life, but here we are! I was walking down the street when I noticed this bakery and decided to pop in. Every person in line in front of me got multiple items, but always with a slice of the coconut cake so that's what I went with! There was a great variety of items to choose from, including cupcakes, cookies, and even some Filipino desserts. My slice was ~$7 but it was enormous and so worth it. After eating bite after bite I literally yelled out loud: "why is this so delicious?!" The frosting was not too sweet, the cake perfectly soft, and the coconut lightly toasted. Rounding up to 5 stars - even though the interior is a little plain, they at least have some seating and the baked goods are the star of the show anyway. I will 100% be back to try more treats!

I'm a home baker, and I pride myself on my cakes. In fact, when it comes to cakes, I'm a very hard grader. I have OPINIONS. I needed a special cake for a family event, and I didn't have time to make it myself. One of my friends (who knows how picky I am about cake) suggested Sugar Daddy, so I placed an order hoping we'd end up with an okay cake that could get the job done. When I went to pick up the cake and saw how beautiful it was, I thought, "If it tastes even half as good as it looks, we'll be fine." The baker was so kind - knowing that we had a nut allergy in the family, he went out of his way to reassure us about the care they had taken while making it. Later that night, we served the cake and ... it was perfect. Literally perfect. I was absolutely blown away. The crumb was moist and rich without being heavy, the frosting was delicious without being too sweet, and every bite tasted like the best thing I've ever eaten. That may sound like an exaggeration, but it's true - the cake was literally the best I've ever had. My entire family has not been able to stop talking about this cake. I have not been able to stop thinking about this cake! The cake is the Platonic ideal of cakes ... like, all other cakes are just shadows on the wall of the cave. The only problem with this cake is that it basically makes it impossible to eat any other cakes for the rest of my life. Thank you, Sugar Daddy, for making our family celebration so special. Your cakes are epic.

I wanted to hate the place. I think it was because I didn't like the name and I really didn't like Vanille that was in this location beforehand, BOY WAS I WRONG. I went in and saw they have cake and I ordered a slice. He said it was $7 and change which was expensive.... but the cake is 2 servings so it's actually completely reasonable. Especially if you're are going to be going on a date or binge eating (and crying) before you take the bar. The cake itself was amazing. It tasted like an Andes mint, crisp mint flavor, lovely chocolate cake that was moist and denser than most cake but really lovely and obviously homemade. In addition there was a beautiful ganache on top which was literally the icing on the cake. Perfect. The guy at the counter (I assume the owner? Possibly sugar daddy himself?) was SUPER NICE! Super helpful! Just a great experience!

You can try ube flavored pastry such as sylvannas which are cookie made of cashew-meringue wafers filled and covered with buttercream and dusted with cake or biscuit crumbs. And the size that this place offers is humongous. If you're into them you're in for a treat. I for one think that is a bit too much. I feel guilty biting into so much butter. They have some kitchy names for their cupcakes. I like the ube white chocolate cookie best but again the size is just too big to finish off in one sitting. It's way too indulgent.

Their website states "Custom cakes doesn't need to be very expensive. Cakes are a big part of any celebration." Believe you me, cakes can get expensive. I was happy to find that they were indeed reasonable in pricing without skimming on quality! I needed a cake for my toddler's Zoom birthday celebration. After pricing out some bakeries, I seriously considered making it myself but I didn't have enough time to take on such a project. Chicago Sugar Daddy to the rescue! James has amazing cake artistry skills and we were super happy with our fun and playful Recycling Truck image on the cake. The vanilla chiffon with pastry cream cake itself was incredibly light and tasty with fresh blueberries. Don't hesitate to contact them to see if they can make your cake dreams into a reality. They certainly were up for the task for our toddler.

My new favorite bakery!!! I came across this bakery on social media and since realizing it's on my way home from work AND the gym, I've decided to stop by a couple of times. Ambiance: Currently in the Get in the Kitchen! store, it's a pop up counter and kitchen. I've talked to the owner James and he said they'll be there for a few more months before getting a more permanent location. Service: Both times I went James was working the counter. He went above and beyond with customer service! He told me multiple times what each flavor the desserts were (there were no labels) and was just a super nice guy. Food: Things my friends and I have tried... -Salty Ex: my friend said the cupcake was too dense and the frosting was a little sour -Yaaas Kween: nice, light citrus cupcake. frosting wasn't too heavy or too sweet. Perfect! -She Vers: tasty red velvet cupcake -Chocolate Raspberry: chocolatey goodness with fruit filling. Great cupcake for chocolate lovers! -Ube Brownie with white chocolate chips: my cousin said it was delicious. Second time we went she was looking for this, but the owner said a lady had bought all of them cause she loved them that much! -Mango-A-Go-Go: light and flavorful cheesecake. The Manila mangos on top add a nice touch. I'm not a big cheesecake fan but I would 100% get this again!! -Ube Silvana: I never knew the Filipino sans rival cake had a cookie version! This was light, soft but had a good crunch. Not my favorite but if you like sans rival, you'll defin *Tip- ask for the punch card and Lakeview coupon book!

There's something weird going on here. I mean i go to these fancy restaurants who say things like "here is our famous chocolate cake". And it's always fine. Meh. But always a bit of a let down. So I never get chocolate cake from anywhere. So you can maybe understand my surprise for my birthday when my wife gives me a slice of chocolate cake from Sugar Daddy. Ugh. Not this again. Wait. This isn't normal. This chocolate cake is maybe the greatest chocolate cake I've ever eaten. And the brownie she also brought home? Also not a huge fan of any store bought brownie. But HOLY HELL is this thing amazing. What on earth is happening at this place? How are you making this stuff so good!? I feel terrible too because I've completely neglected the joint until now. But thanks to these delicious incidents, I cant get enough. I can't wait to get my next fix of one of these treats. And now I'm ridiculously proud of James finish on the Halloween Baking Championship. He deserves it and so much more. Run to this place and don't let your preconceived ideas of dessert stop you from trying everything they're putting together. But damnit James, you're doing something wrong. I don't want to love cake this much. :)

They did my birthday cake for me this year and it was amazing!! The cake was delicious and a hit with all my friends. Many even said they will come here for their future parties now. Taste: 5/5 - I ordered the she-vers and it was delicious. Not overly sweet, very moist, and perfect ratio of cake to cream. Service: 5/5 - very responsive and easy to work with to get the design to match the oops I did it again music video theme. I love the ombré effect of the cream frosting. They also let me borrow a serving knife since I couldn't find any at the store!

Let me tell y'all...if you haven't had the Ube Coconut cake (or plain coconut cake if Ube isn't your thing)...YOU ARE MISSING OUT. My husband works nearby and I begged him to stop by after seeing the Ube Daddy on The Food Network's Halloween Baking Championship. He raved about how kind everyone was and thought the shop was super cute! The cakes are 10/10! We are regulars now :)

The only sugar daddy I need in my life is right here. The cookie was the best snickerdoodle I've ever had and it definitely will set your sweet tooth on blast. I couldn't eat more than 1/4 of it but it hit the spot. The pork bun was super fluffy and the meat filling was so flavorful- wish there was more meat but still delicious nonetheless. Service is great as well. Go check them out anytime your sweet tooth hits!

I am extremely late in writing this review. I bought the Salty Ex for my friend's birthday dinner and it was outstanding. Customer service was above and beyond, including last minute delivery to my house. I can't recommend them strongly enough and am about to order another cake for their birthdays again.

Excellent desserts. Liked it so much we went back the next evening. Very friendly family owned business. Loved the mini cheesecakes mango and Oreo cookie. Raspberry cream cupcake was wonderful. Sorry we missed out on the chocolate layer cake. Someone bought it all before we got there. Thank you

Randomly came across Chicago Sugar Daddy Patisserie on Instagram and so glad I did. Ordered my bf birthday cake from here and I was AMAZING! I got him the Deadly Daddy which is Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Mousse, Ganache, Chocolate Truffles. The bf said the cake was freaking delicious! I will definitely be coming back to Chicago Sugar Daddy for my birthday cake!

Best chocolate chip cookies I probably ever had. The service has always been great too. My only complaint is I wish they had more cupcake flavors. Besides that I will be back again.

I live right in the neighborhood and can't believe it took me so long to check out this cute spot! I love the filipino baked goods that they offer and the person who helped me with my order was so sweet! I highly recommend trying the ube cheese pandesal and their ube cookies! It's a cute shop with some seats to hang out. Can't wait to visit again!

Had the slice of the pride cake from the cubs pride game. For the looks it was very pretty and tempting. But the buttercream was awful. Was like it was made with crisco or lard. Had no flavor and left a coating my mouth. Didn't have a taste at all. No vanilla. No sugar. The heart cookie were delicious tho.

I found Chicago Sugar Daddy online when I was looking for someone to make custom cookies for my honey's birthday celebration. I wasn't entirely sure of what I wanted to do with the cookies and James was super helpful in designing them. We went with a sports and cocktail theme - they were so fun! They came individually wrapped and easy for people to grab and nibble on (or save for later!). I highly recommend Chicago Sugar Daddy for their creativity, cost, and excellent customer service. I'll be back for future birthday treats!

Together with my MOH (sister) and fiance, we had our cake tasting this past weekend and this was probably the most at ease I've been with our entire wedding process. Rayan was so responsive in emailing while we set things up by checking in about the types of flavors we were looking for. James was incredible as he literally sat with us going over our vision for our cake and asking any and all questions we had about next steps and delivery. I was blown away by the cakes themselves! The ube cake was delicious but the buttercream stole the show; it was even better to learn that they make their own halaya from scratch! Along with that we went with the calamansi cake (delicious) with pandan cream (even better) as well as the Daddy Strawberry. We've got a lot of family coming in from the Philippines for this event and I'm so excited to share Rayan and James' creations with them.

I've given this place a few chances. They had to heat up the coffee in the microwave and the egg bun was ill-described and tasteless. What a waste of money. Really, it's as if they don't want you in the shop. I think the owners are rude too. I tried to like it because it's quiet but now I'm convinced of why that is.

We tried the ube cake and the chocolate chip cookies. Both INCREDIBLE. this is now our favorite pastry shop in Chicago. Owner is great too.

Absolutely delicious! Have been a couple times now and everything we've had has been amazing. I highly recommend the bourbon chocolate cake with maple frosting and bacon. It was so incredibly rich!

I had a last minute request for a birthday cake for my daughter. James was wonderful, talked me through all my options and offered some super suggestions. I tasted the cupcake and decided my flavors. The cake looked amazing and tasted delicious. All the guests couldn't stop talking about how it was perfect sweetness and light. Absolutely thrilled and will definitely stop by for more treats from there.

I ordered the Edgewater cake for my mom's birthday and it is the best cake I've ever tasted in my life! It's coconut cake which I normally don't like but the cake is amazingly light and the frosting is so good! I met the owner when I picked up the cake and he was the sweetest! Definitely recommend this bakery and I can't wait to go back and try more

I stopped in for a cupcake after seeing an Instagram post and ended up trying a Daddy's Bday cupcake (vanilla and chocolate). The cupcake was so dang good, but it was very funny and cute because they offered me a candle in case it was for someone's birthday. Such a fun and delicious place!

Everything here is so good! Everything is fresh and nothing is too sweet. They are constantly updating their menu with new and creative treats. The owner is super nice too!

I would have a great picture of our custom cake, but within seconds it was destroyed by the group out of deliciousness. Fantastic bakery. What I loved was the flexibility. They were willing and able to make us what we needed, and we had random ideas such as 'get some fruit someplace on there' - and they just got creative and made it. And fast. The cake we got was so so good. Light butter cream but still dense enough for flavor. The cake was moist and stayed fresh all day. Also tried the butter cookies which were great side throw-ins. Lastly, the staff here are beyond friendly and fun. The minute I walked in I was greeted with love. I'll be back for future bakery needs, they deserve it!
