At Chicas Tacos in Culver City, you'll find Mexican pizza, along with the usual fare of tacos, burritos and bowls, created by Chef Eduardo Ruiz, a James Beard Award nominee.
Food is packaged in rectangular pink boxes for on-site dining and takeaway. Tacos range from $4.19 -$4.99 with fillings like chicken and beef to the more unsual jackfruit and Impossible Meat, served on La Princesita corn tortillas. For $10, you can get their two taco combo, which comes with chips and salsa ($1 upcharge for each Impossible taco).
Their famous fish taco comes with a hefty piece of fish, beer-battered and fried, salsa morita, and caesar salad with garlic breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. My taco was a little dry since the salsa was missing and the salad was very lightly dressed. I liked the pork taco better, with a decent serving of slow-braised pork, topped with salsa verde, caramelized onions and cilantro.
Chips and salsa were fairly standard. If you're a light eater, the two taco combo is plenty, but being a healthy eater, I could have easily eaten one more taco.
Chicas Tacos offers Taco Tuesday specials like a two taco combo with chips and salsa, and a beer for $13.95, as well as beer and margarita specials. On Thursdays, a side of chips and salsa comes free with your purchase of two tacos. Although indoor dining is not currently available (hopefully soon), there is an outdoor patio area and a large beer garden sponsored by Golden Road Brewing (with Happy Hour specials) where you can eat and drink.
Metered parking available in the lot on Culver and free 1-hour parking in the public parking garages on Washington and Cardiff.
