Chicha San Chen 吃茶三千

I've had Chicha San Chen in L.A. before and absolutely loved it. I recently had the pleasure of attending a free Lishan Oolong Tea Tasting with Lucas and it was a fantastic experience. Lucas did a wonderful job explaining the origins and unique characteristics of each tea. It was so much fun learning about the different types of tea in such an engaging way. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

First time having Chicha a few months ago. I had the Mango Green tea with konjac. At $8.25 a drink, I found it pretty wild for a smaller cup also. I was able to sample the Passion fruit green tea (which is usually my go-to), but wanted to try something else. In the future, I will definitely order PFGT since the flavors seemed quite good on the sample. Overall, flavors are decent but a bit over-priced. Parking can be difficult in the plaza. Also, be prepared to wait. You can order on snackpass at times too.

TLDR: Long wait for slightly overpriced drinks with moderate tea flavor. Could be due to my high expectations upon coming in, but the tea flavor was not as prominent and strong as I thought it would. Each drink averaged to about $8. I got the Cassia Milk Tea with boba and did not think it stood out compared to other places. The Dong Ding oolong tasted slightly stronger in tea flavor but still was subtle. I thought the passion osmanthus tea tasted the best, but could be found cheaper at other places. The service was great despite how busy it was and they do offer free tea tasting at certain hours with reservation in advanced.

Super busy in the morning. They offered me tea testing and it was so well explained. Loved the experience. Their milk boba tea strikes the perfect balance of creamy sweetness and chewy texture, making each sip irresistible. The staff is exceptionally friendly, adding a personal touch that makes you feel right at home. While the place can get busy, the lively atmosphere only enhances the experience, making it a great spot to grab a drink and catch up with friends. If you’re looking for top-notch tea in a vibrant setting, San Chen won’t disappoint.

This place let's you see some of the process of how the tea is made when you are in line to order and also there is a tea demonstration and tasting around the corner. I didn't sit in on it, but I was close enough to get a glimpse of the tasting. I think it's unique as it's the first place I've seen it done. We ordered Milk Tea w/ Bubble and Taro Paste, Dong Ding, regular Bubble Milk Tea. We all liked our drinks. And they come with a "fancy" holder with strings. I thought the strings were a bit gimmicky, but it's different.

Been to this spot a couple times now. The tea’s good not mind-blowing, but solid. I liked the oolong, but the high mountain one was just kinda... fine. Like, just not bad. There was one drink can’t remember the name but it had a strong coconut vibe. Not really my thing (coconut and I have trust issues), but if you’re into it, you might actually enjoy it. They’ve got this tea tasting section too, which is a nice touch. Feels a little fancy, like you’re about to make an important decision. Overall, it’s a decent spot. Not my go-to, but if I’m in town and feeling like mixing it up from the usual, I wouldn’t mind dropping by again.

Stopped by on a whim today to introduce my mom and brother to Chicha San Chen--everyone raves about how good their tea is, and it is always a treat to have! What I want to focus on is their tea tasting experience. As we were waiting for our order, Lucas asked if we were interested in a complimentary tea tasting experience. We weren't pressed for time, so we decided to participate. Lucas was very knowledgeable and thorough in introducing their award winning Lishan Oolong. Each participant was able to try one of 5 different roasts, each with a different flavor profile. Through this tea tasting experience, we were given a glimpse into what's behind every cup of tea served at Chicha San Chen. Thank you for such a special time! We appreciate your tea even more now~ If anyone has a few extra minutes to spare, I'd definitely recommend trying it out!

I tried their oolong with the creamy foam and the citrus summer tea, they are both very interesting and good. I like the cute little handle that comes with the cup sleeve, but not exactly willing to pay a dollar more for it. The drinks come in smaller cups and are priced higher than most boba shops in the area.
