I had the hainanese chicken with liver over gingered rice, really well executed and super delicious. Absolutely loved the taro in coconut milk too , not too sweet, lands all the flavors I wanted in taro. Service was speedy and attentive, I highly recommend this place.

A taste of authentic Bangkok in the heart of Astoria. Had the fried chicken curry plate where the aromatic rice was so delicious I couldn’t stop eating it. We also had the spicy Tom yum chicken soup.. it was like a hug for the soul. Along with the Som Tum pla ra (papaya salat with anchovies 🥰) Just what we needed after walking around Astoria. The customer service was impeccable. It’s always an exceptional dining experience when the people who work there genuinely love what they are serving. You can genuinely taste the love in each bite! We will definitely be boarding from here a lot more and trying everything else on the menu. This is a local business you want to support. Trust me!

Took me awhile to find this place because it's not exactly on Broadway but on the corner so it's fairly easy to miss if you're not aware of the location. Other than that, this place is sublime. A tad on the small side but I dig the theme of the restaurant for it gives off an authentic Thai feel. The server was very courteous and kind which made ordering a pleasant experience. All of the dishes are very reminiscent of whenever I go to Hainan Jones for lunch because the menu is very similar to that. I ordered the Roasted chicken with rice, dumplings and Iced Tea. Their Iced Tea is an unusual but interesting beverage. It's your standard Iced Tea but mixed with milk, at first I was thrown off a bit like "Who mixes Iced Tea with milk?" But when I took a sip, it was surprisingly good, it was enjoyable. The main dish and the side were oh so tasty and filling, it definitely hit the spot. Some stuff on the menu were more pricier than others but worth it nonetheless. I totally recommend this hole in the wall spot with excellent cuisine.

Second time trying this place and was just as amazing as the first time. We had The Original, The Roasted, and Som Tum Thai (Papaya Salad). Highly recommended!

Was craving some Hainan Chicken rice so came here for it. For the price, they gave me so much chicken which I always appreciate. The food was delicious too. Definitely recommend!

So I 'Chicked it out'. Honest opinion. Not impressed. Passed by this place many times and finally decided to give it a try. Was craving a chicken dinner. Went in around 830pm, they close at 930pm. Did not think that would be an issue. I ordered the fried chicken cutlet over rice it looked good from another reviewers post. After ordering the lady in the kitchen said something in another language to the lady taking our order. Then we hear from the lady taking our ordee that it will be about 15 / 20 minutes as if they are bothered by that order. I see they sre actively cleaning the kitchen. There was a guy scrubbing pots. I was so hungry I went with the non fried chicken instead. What could go wrong, and I felt like it was the healthier option anyway. Took the food to go. Verdict. It tasted bland. Not flavorful at all. I had to force myself to eat it. Didn't taste anything like I would have expected. I didnt enjoy it. For 32 bucks, not worth it. I also ordered a thai mango ice tea for 4 dollars. The cup was full of ice... very little tea. Seriously, check the picture i attached. I didnt feel welcomed, they rushed us out. They are supposed to close at 930. If they dont want customers at 830, then they should say they close at 830pm. I hate that. Wasted my money. I do not recommend ever! Doesnt taste like thai food, chicken is bland.

I got takeout this time, and the menu has more than doubled since the last time I ate here. I got the Singaporean Hainanese Chicken Rice which comes with a fragrant and light broth. I got this with poached chicken to absorb the broth. The chicken liver was good but they give you a lot of it - as someone who likes liver, this was still a lot of liver. They have choice of ginger rice vs sticky rice. I also got the pa lo moo sam chan, a pork belly dishes that was similarly flavorful but light, but a different flavor profile. I thought it'd be too salty but that was not the case. The pork was tender but my only complaint is that they give you really fatty pieces. It comes with mushrooms, tofu, and an egg that was unfortunately not runny at all. Comes with ginger rice. I also tried the coconut custard which was very good. Not sure what to do with the actual bowls though.

The juiciest and most flavorful Khao mun gai located in Astoria. We tried the original and the roasted, the original will always be my favorite as I love the simplicity of the poached chicken, but the roasted offered a really nice umami bite and crunch from the skin. Honestly so good, crispy like a fried cutlet but still light, juicy, and savory. Highlight was def the ginger aromatic rice, SO flavorful. Dipping sauce was nice and gingery as well and only enhanced everything, while the broth was light and perfect to sip on with the meal. Love how strong the Thai iced tea and coffee was too. They have a smaller storefront with 4-5 tables inside, so that is good to note if you are coming with a large party. The owners/workers are extremely sweet and attentive as well. This is a must try if you're in the area and need a quick and healthy bite, I can't wait to return! Support this place :)

My fave Thai chicken and rice spot ever! The portions are big, and I love that I can decide how healthy I want to be depending on whether I get poached, grilled or fried lol. They have a wide variety of items other than chicken and rice which I think sets them apart from other similar restaurants. The papaya salad is very good, but I actually prefer the spicy chicken salad if I'm trying to go no rice because they give so much chicken with a delicious tangy dressing. I haven't eaten in the actual restaurant but this is a go-to food delivery meal for me.

Thai spots in Queens have been popping up like crazy especially in past 5 years or so , but Chick It Out stands slightly apart because it focuses mainly on chicken in this cute hole in the wall. We were craving Hainanese style chicken and finding a place that makes it a central part of the menu made it seem like a pretty good bet. It paid off. After searching for some places that do Hainanese style chicken many were less accessible being in crowded areas with difficult parking I was happy with what I found here. We arrived knowing what we wanted which is good because you order and pay before you sit if you are eating in. If you are eating in be aware there are 4 tight little tables here so this place is perfect for a duo - seating and portion wise. This was indoor spot, but the temp was the same as the chilly weather outside the Saturday we dined here. We each received a soup and salad with our combo - I went to work on the fresh salad and saved the soup for when the chicken arrived. We got a couple of curry puffs which were flakey and tasty. I enjoyed the firm curry which was more paste than liquid. We went with a fried chicken and Hainanese chicken and both were really good. The dipping sauces that came with combo were really good along with large mound of rice. My Thai Iced coffee was the perfect accompaniment. The meal was well made, generous and reasonably priced. Couldn't ask for much more - go ahead, Chick It Out!

***NEW*** Chick It Out - Thai-style Hainanese chicken and rice dishes. They have sweet, flavorful, and colorful drinks and teas, to go along with their delicious, one of a kind meals. We found parking right in front of the place. Next Time, we also have to save room for dessert. The service was impeccable. We didn't know what everything exactly was on the menu, but the waitresses explained it all. It's a quiet, room-style café, where there is indoor and outdoor seating.

This is a very legit Thai restaurant I would 100% recommend to anyone in the area and would definitely go back. They have five different options for how you like the chicken. We ordered Khao Man Gai Tod Kra Thiam and Khao Man Gai Zabb. The sauce and spice were perfect. Definitely has the Hainanese hint in there, too. We ordered togo so it was about. 15-20minutes tops to get our order. There's a 4% discount on cash. (Minus one star because they didn't tell us about this, found it out through receipt)

This was my first time trying this type of Thai chicken. It was amazing! Love this little hole in the wall spot that is women-owned and women-ran! The restaurant is cute and quaint but it is small. There is few seating and is more of like a grab and go place. I did sit to eat and the women were so welcoming and quick on their feet. I got the khao mok gai which had grilled chicken and turmeric rice. It was perfect in every way. The chicken was cooked perfectly - so soft and juicy. Eating it with the tumeric rice was a great combination! The broth on the side was lovely to have as well as the salad. I didn't really eat much of the salad because I wasn't in the mood for one. But drinking the broth after some bites of my chicken and rice was seriously the cherry on top. I got to also try to roasted chicken and fried chicken.... Both equally amazing!!! You can't go wrong with choosing any one of these. I enjoyed their Thai tea options. I ordered the Thai lime tea and Thai lychee tea. The lime one was perfectly refreshing. It was more on the bitter and sour side but I like that while the lychee tea was sweet! I loved how strong their Thai tea is... like on the level of coffee. lol. Overall, aammmaazziinnnggg spot in Astoria. It has easily become a favorite of mine.

So yummy and affordable! I got to try the traditional hainese poached chicken along with the spicy crispy chicken dish. Both were great, and the actual chicken portion is quite hefty with some leftover after the meal! Just fyi, food comes on disposable paper plates. Keep in mind the actual seating inside is very small, maybe 6-8 people total. Would definitely return when I'm craving hainese chicken! also really wanted to see if their drinks were good.

This is a gem of a place! The food was really good and affordable! We got 2 of the combo, khaomangai2way. I believe all of the chicken is dark meat, but they do it 3 ways: grilled, slow-poached and fried. All of the chicken and rice dishes came with it's own sauce, broth and a side salad. The broth was savory and mild, and the side salad was decent. The traditional khao man gai is the slow-poached and it was my favorite, especially with the sweet garlic sauce that came with it. However the fried chicken was super crispy and was my partner's favorite. The grilled chicken was grilled well and had a crispy skin too. I went here for dinner on a Friday night and it wasn't busy. It is a smaller fast casual restaurant with about only three 2 person tables. You order and pay at the register. The staff are really nice. I'd definitely come again for both a quick and filling lunch or dinner. I want to come back to try their curry puffs and their traditional thai drinks that you don't get to see very often like Nom Yen.

I can't speak to service and ambiance because this is a delivery order, but the Original Khao Man Gai is such a great comfort meal. The soup isn't too oily, and it's light. The salad is simple but offers a balance of meat, rice, and veggies. The rice is flavorful, and not too wet or dry. The chicken feels fresh as well.

Recently got to try chick it out and it was so delicious! This little spot has seating both indoors and outdoors. We were served very quickly and the workers were so nice! As for the food I tried the fried chicken while my friend had the original poached chicken. Both were delicious. I especially liked the fried chicken because it was so crispy on the outside but still very very juicy on the inside. The curry puff was also so delicious, very flavorful and worked well as an appetizer. We tried two drinks one mango and one lychee thai iced tea. Both were very refreshing. Lastly, they have mango sticky rice for dessert and it was the perfect way to end the meal. Also their chicken dishes come with a salad and soup - basically everything you need for a filling meal and it's only $14. Definitely check this place out!!

Chick It Out serves khao man gai aka Thai style Hainanese chicken. It's a small restaurant with about 10 spots and is primarily a takeout place. If you're looking for a quick and satisfying meal, this is the place to check out. For apps, we started off with the steamed chicken dumplings and chicken curry puffs. The dumplings were juicy and packed with flavor and it was great with the vinegar soy sauce. The chicken curry puffs had a pleasant spice and were perfect for starters. The highlight of the show is the khao man gai at Chick It Out. We were interested in all the khao man gai, so we ordered two combo platters. One was fried and roasted chicken, while the second plate was fried and poached. My favorite is the fried chicken, it's crispy and I'm always a fan of the sweet sauce. The ginger sauce with the poached chicken was a pleasant combo. And the rice was nicely flavored with ginge We got their iced thai tea and thai iced coffee. The flavors were strong and it's good for those with a sweet tooth. Of course we have to end the meal with the most classic dessert - mango sticky rice. The sweet mango paired with the sticky rice is always a perfect combo.

Got the Combo with Roast Chicken and Poached Chicken along with Curry Puff. Maybe coz I got it togo?, overall thought was basic not tasting the 5 star review here.

Reliably good and fast! Whenever I want a somewhat healthy but delicious option, I order their poached chicken over rice. They also serve their rice dishes with a little bowl of chicken broth. I like to get a spoon of their chicken rice and dip it into the broth! I also recently had their chicken tom yum and oh my.. will definitely be getting that again! It's the perfect sour soup.

The poached chicken is the standard way to get this dish but since I've had that before, I decided to go with the roasted and fried chicken options. Both were delicious. The roasted chicken was a little sweet, tender, and succulent. The fried chicken was crispy, and the batter was light. The ginger rice was well-made and was probably made with the same chicken broth - it was aromatic with lots of subtle flavors. The Combo is beyond filling; it can easily be split with someone or save some leftovers for later. Great addition to Astoria food scene!

This is a hidden gem! I enjoyed eating here so so much. I see a lot of people take out for this restaurant as this place only has a couple of tables. First time trying Thai style hainan chicken and it did not disappoint! The cutlet was fried well and came in generous, flavorful pieces. I love that it also comes with a side soup and salad. This is a perfect lighter, yet very filling meal.

Hainan chicken rice is such classic and simple dish with so many variations now, you'll never get bored! I had a friend who orders take out from here all the time, because it's the most bang for your buck, nutritious and filling! Finally got around to trying this place and I had such a difficult time choosing between their variations of khao mun gai. I opted for their original slow poached chicken, because you can never go wrong with a classic. They have a roasted and crispy option as well! For a few dollars more, you can choose two options. All of these come with a serving of chicken rice and a soup. They also have an egg noodle option instead of rice that comes with roasted chicken and some fish balls and tofu. The broth it comes warms the soul and is so comforting; honestly was pretty sad when I cleaned the broth out of the bowl. The slow poached chicken was delicious and clean. The house made sauce it came with paired really well with the chicken and rice. The crispy chicken is a solid choice too! They give a good amount of it and the breading is light and crunchy. The restaurant itself is pretty small. There's about 3-4 small tables there and they move around the tables when your group is bigger than 2 LOL. But you can definitely grab and go food here! I would def be ordering from here again.

Oh this place is good. Talk about tender chicken and flavorful rice, this is the place to be. The portions are abundant -- I couldn't even finish my food. You also get a small side of salad and soup. I took a third of my food to go. The ginger rice perfectly complements the chicken and the sauce. You get different sauce options based on what type of chicken you get. I got their original khao man gai and got the garlic/ginger sauce and this is probably my favorite of the bunch. Also would recommend getting the Thai tea! Service is fast and easy. The waiters are kind and attentive without being too much in your face. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so it's a great grab and go and quick munch if you're in Astoria.

The Khak Mok Gai from Chick-It-Out is easily one of my favorite meals to get in Astoria. Everything in the meal is executed perfectly. The roasted chicken has a great crisp and flavor baked in throughout. The curry rice is soft fragrant. And the dipping sauce is bright and sweet. It even comes with salad and soup on the side, so it ends up being a pretty filling meal. The other items on the menu are also great. Staff is attentive and friendly. Not too much seating space but I come here primarily for the food.

Yato LIVES FOR CHICKEN. So Yato, brought in by the name indeed decided to "Chick It Out." Yato's stomach decided to check out after eating here. It's almost as if there was a WW3 being fought by chickens inside of Yato's stomach and it raged for days following his encounter here. Was it the poached chicken? The fried chicken? Ultimately we'll never know what side prevailed, but in the end, Yato was the loser here and his date ruined by this places built on lies. Yato will never eat here again because he doesn't want to be a veteran to another chicken war. His stomach couldn't handle it.

There aren't many places to get Thai style Hainanese chicken in Astoria so it's nice to see this type of restaurant open on 35th Street and Broadway. The restaurant is small with about 4 or 5 tables. I love the aesthetics inside with the exposed brick wall and the hand painted mural; very cute. The menu is small with only 6 chicken dishes to choose from. In fact, there are more beverage options that food. After chatting a bit with the staff, I went with their recommendation and got "The Combo" Khao Man Gai 2 Way. You get to choose two kinds of chicken from poached, fried, or roasted. I ended getting "The Original" Khao Man Gai (slow poached chicken) and "The Roasted" (marinated chicken thighs). Both the poached and the roasted chicken were tender and delicious. The chicken was both lean and fatty, as in the meat was juicy but without the fatty pieces. I was given three types of dipping sauce: a chili tamarind and garlic ginger soybean and ginger scallion sauce. With Hainanese chicken, I think that the sauce makes the dish, and the ones here really highlighted the chicken well. The chili tamarind wasn't spicy at first, but it does have a slight kick after a while. The accompanying ginger rice tasted very lightly of ginger and was garnished with sliced cucumbers. They serve the meal with a light daikon soup and salad. Overall, the dish is a nice healthy option and a change of pace for the usual fried chicken dish. Also, they offer one dessert, Mango Sticky Rice, which is not listed on the menu. When I asked about this, I was told it's because it's a seasonal dish and they will not be offering this year-round. Next time I'm here, I'll have to remember to try that.

New spot called "chick it out" and worth checking out. They have original, roasted, and fried Hainanese chicken. I enjoyed the fried chicken the best, and did not taste any noticeable difference between the original and roasted versions. It is a decent amount of food for their combo size and includes salad and soup. If you're looking for a quick meal, I would recommend. As for iced tea, they have original, mango, and lychee Thai iced tea. I tried their mango Thai iced tea, and it's a hint of mango! Not too sweet and refreshing on a warm day, but I'd probably get their original next time to compare.

The chicken rice here is fresh and tasty. The workers here are very kind and were attentive to what we needed. I enjoy their noodle dish (both the dry chicken noodle with fishball and the wet Tom yum) were delicious and filling. I could not finish it. Their lychee Thai tea was refreshing and not too sweet. The only caution I would have is my daughter got hives from her chicken rice. She has a sensitivity to peanut so the worse thing that happens is a rash around her mouth or her eczema gets worse.... But this time she broke out into full body hives and she only ate chicken rice. So for anyone who has peanut allergy or sensitivity- this may not be the best place to eat.

This place is so good like, I cry every time I take a first bite from my meal!!! My friend visited me once and said it'd probably one of the best poached chicken over rice he's had. The value is slightly better than the really popular place in Elmhurst too. This spot is closer to me. Comes with radish soup (delish) and a little salad. Good portions too. I love the roasted chicken! I always do take out and staff are always so friendly and quick. From what I can see inside, the place is small but good for a quick meal (with leftovers).

Chick it out is a great spot in Astoria. I've never eaten at the restaurant but got take out and delivery multiple times. They have a variety of chicken and rice for a pretty good price considering how much chicken they give. The soup and the sauce also are great. I recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

All of the reviews are true... This place truly serves up some delicious chicken. Wildly juicy and the dipping sauce are all amazing as well. It's simple, clean and tasty - what more could you want? They've gained a forever customer for sure.

New spot that just opened up right off of Broadway in Astoria. Authentic Thai food that was so delicious. My fiancé had "The Roasted" Khao Man Gai Yang while I had "The Original" Khao Man Gai. We also ordered curry puff balls as an appetizer. The portions were very generous and the food was fresh. The Thai iced tea was also very tasty. Highly recommend coming here!

I have to say I was treated like a king at this Thai restaurant and have to give them five stars) Raj, who was the cook, not the owner as I first thought gave me a menu in advance of my visit. Still I needed to sit down and take a look at all the options in advance. Chick it Out is a lovely casual diner specializing Hainanese chicken. From the outside they are a little hard to find as they are following the trend in almost invisible awnings. Only the outdoor street dining indicates their location, and they are really a hole in the wall eatery with about a dozen or so chairs I am no expert on Thai food so I needed recommendations. I wanted something non spicy and a cool drink at the end of a long day. A Thai Ice tea (in fact I ordered two of them) and a light vegetable soup were recommended as starters. The Combo Khao Man Gai 2 Way -combination of poached chicken and roasted chicken over ginger rice was excellent and filing, not too spicy and not over portioned. I came away very satisfied with my meal. At the end of the meal I got a little bonus which looked a very small rice cake. A great way to end the night! One minor recommendation I suggested. Just abandon KHAO MAN GUI and just keep the name to Chick it Out! Chick it Out's atmosphere (not ambience) reminds me of eating in a small noodle house. Groups of diners cluster round tables eating bowls and plates of hot food. They definitely get +1 on ambiance as well. What looks like a Thai elephant on the wall really stands out in a small cozy environment. Finally, it was great to get a real send off at the end of my meal. Chick it Out is a worthy addition to our area. I will be back!!

New Thai Spot in Astoria! Cute little spot for some good comfort Thai street food. This reminds me of my mom home cook meals especially the complimentary soup they give you. I haven't had that in a while! I missed it so much! The chicken dishes was delicious and flavorful and the sauces they give you to put on top was outstanding! Love the ginger rice it was packed with flavor. Customer service was excellent, the owner was very nice and accommodating. Will definitely come back again!

Wow. The grilled chicken and curry rice plate was deeelish. It came with a small soup and salad, and the portion was generous. I got a Thai iced tea as well, and I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't taste quite like every other Thai iced tea I've had; it had a lighter feel and bolder flavor. Good ambient music, too. The prices are higher than I expected but that's offset by how much you get, so still a 5/5 to me!
