Chick and Beers Review - New Malden - London - The Infatuation

"Our favourite thing about New Malden High Street is the high saturation of charity shops—hello trinkets, hello turquoise jewellery, hello Marmite merch from 1996. Our second favourite thing is the crispy Korean fried chicken at Chick and Beers. A casual solo dining and dinner with mates spot, it has a short menu that consists of chicken in its various forms and Addictive Carbohydrates Covered In Nice Stuff. But don’t get too distracted by the jalapeño poppers because you’re primarily here for a tender moment with some chicken that’s so gloriously crispy that it would make for some truly hypnotic ASMR." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

The food is great . Chicken wings was very crispy and lots of favors . They need to train their staff better . Slow and unfriendly staff . They try to seat us under the tv. There was plenty and of tables open. 4 guys trying to eat wings and watch football .

Google
Wasn't really impressed by anything in this place. Was looking for a place that had fried pickles and I found it. Unfortunately pickles were NOT great. Overly salty, and everyone of them had a hole in it. Service at the bar was terrible. Bartender was rude to the point I didn't order anything but the pickles and a margarita which was marginal. Neither bartender was friendly or welcoming. Definitely won't return to this spot.

Google
The Daily Oklahoman had an article highlighting all the restaurants Guy Fieri has been to OKC. I now see why he went here. The wings are absolutely amazing. I had the Gochujang, Lemon Pepper and Mango Thai Chili. All were phenomenal. I will absolutely be back. Guy nails it again. Even the kids meal was delicious. Wings were crispy and the sauces perfectly balanced the wings. Made you want more every bite.

Went with a party of 4, 2 of us needing gluten free dining. Loved the level of options available. Our waiter was very enthusiastic about sharing which apps were GF and was sure to mention their GF beer options as well! We ordered wings and fries for the table. Dedicated GF fryer meant everything was safe to eat. The sweet potato waffle fries are super yum. We got the Lemon Pepper, Yellow Curry and Mama’s sweet and salty. All were fantastic. We even ordered a second round of wings. Location is super cute. Floors were a bit sticky but that won’t keep me away!

Google
Used to be great, but last several times we’ve been in the “wings” are tiny. They’re half the size of what you expect from a typical wing. Service has really dropped off as well and the restaurant is in need of a massive deep clean. The floors have a layer of grease on them that actually make it a major slip hazard.

Google
The service was good and the drinks are good too. I have tried this place before, guess I am not much of a wing girl cause I didn't think my wings were very flavorful. Fries could have been a little crisper but not a bad place. Looks like it would be a good first date place.

Google
I had high hopes for Chick N Beer, but this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The food was subpar at best—my chicken was dry, overcooked, and lacked any real flavor. The beer selection looked promising, but the one I ordered was flat and tasted off. To make matters worse, my waiter seemed more interested in pushing his political views than actually doing his job. I came in to enjoy a meal, not get lectured on politics. It was uncomfortable, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary. If you’re looking for a good meal and a relaxed atmosphere, I’d suggest going somewhere else. Chick n Beer is a hard pass for me.

Google
Pros 1. Clean interior 2. Fast to seat on visit 3. Not crowded at visit 4. Good portion sizes! 5. Chicken was good and sauce too though not super spicy 6. Friendly and astute service 7. Not a long wait for food 8. Music selection or station was nice for the environment / they matched Cons 1. The parking lot is small and needs work 2. The place is easy to miss from the busy road 3. The tables were okay but nearly too small for all the food 4. Appetizers were okay 5. Music was somewhat loud 6. Staff spoke loud I suspect due to loud music Final Thoughts I may return sometime. It’s not a place that stands out food wise to me to say “Oh let’s go there! Their chicken is to die for” however if you do decide to give it a try know the chicken isn’t bad and the service may very well be great!

Yelp
Ordered Thai salad & Garlic parm wings for pickup. Got back to my room, and my salad was missing the mandarin. Salad was still good, but check your food and make sure you're getting what you ordered. Wings were good, meat was cooked perfect. But they were Szechuan garlic parm wings, and it just tasted like garlic parm. Was expecting more of an Asian spice. Still good with ranch.

Yelp
When I first saw the menu, it isn't all that broad, and you're pretty much going to have to like chicken wings if you're going to eat here. But let me tell you, they know how to do chicken right! Double fried, these wings are crunchy, and absolutely delicious! I got the spicy Thai wings and devoured them so quickly, I wish I had ordered more! I did order a side of fries, which were good, but definitely not the star of the show. My boyfriend got the sliders, and they were really good as well. The chicken was pounded and fried, which made for a really crispy slider. I wish I lived closer, because I'd be eating here every week! Highly recommend!

Yelp
This place is centrally located which makes it super easy to visit. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable! Now to the WANGS, I got the honey wings and the flavor was amazing! Very messy but what should I expect with honey wings! The sweet potato wings were very good as well. I will definitely be back and hopefully try a different flavor!!

Yelp
Someone help I can't stop ordering from here it's so good!!!!!!!! Garlic Parmesan and honey lemon pepper!!!

Yelp
Chick-N-Beer offers different flavors than other chicken wings shop. Whether the flavors are flavorful is a different story. As with any non-franchise restaurants, Chick-N-Beer charges their customers a higher price than a franchise chicken wings shop. This is usually the case and that's fair as long as the tastiness of the food justify the higher price. After all, quality of the food is just as important to consumers. This is where Chick-N-Beer would like to improve. I got to try three flavors: honey lemon pepper, Thai Chili, and Goujang (don't remember the spelling). Out of the three, the Thai Chili was the best and the Goujang was the worst. Unfortunately, even the Thai Chili was not as great as mango habanero or Asian Zing from BWW. So now, I am at a dilemma, do I go to Chick-N-Beer just for different flavors or do I go to BWW for my old favorites? The answer is clear for me but it may not be for you. You could give it a try for yourself and come back and like this review if you agree.

Yelp
I had been hearing about this place for many years and finally decided to check it out. We started with beer and the Nacho Average Chick. The nachos were SO GOOD. Then we each got boneless wings, and they tasted very fresh. The vibe inside is cozy and comfortable. It's an old house that's been converted into a restaurant, and in the back there is a beer garden that you should definitely check out after you eat.

Yelp
Lunch at Chick and Beer on Saturday. We had been to Chick and Beer not long after they opened a few years ago, so it had been a while. The place was humming with a cool vibe. Even though they were busy, the service was great. We started with fried pickels. I was a little disappointed. They were OK, but lacked the robust flavor that I had anticipated. They definitely fell flat on the palate. We each order the six piece wings. I ordered salt and pepper that come tossed in sauted jalapenos, onions, and garlic. Very nice! Jan ordered the honey lemon pepper. I thought here we go again, girl gone lemon. Wow, was I surprised. They were excellent. Where the pickels fell flat on the palate, the honey lemon pepper wings exploded my taste buds. Chick and beer is a fun, lively restaurant. If you're looking for a wing place with a good beer selection, this is your place.

Yelp
Last week my wife and I were watching old episodes of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri. He'd reviewed this place. I was flying into OKC on Sunday and decided to give it a go. I bellied up to the bar, which was sticky, and ordered an IPA, Gochujang traditional wings, Mango Thai Chili traditional wings (both recommended by the bartender), Traditional Fries, and House Pickles (cucumber). I noticed the bartender was pouring essentially foam into a glass, transferring some IPA to another glass, and doing this until I had a full glass. I asked him about that and he said something about when it gets warmer outside he has this problem as the lines are long from the kegs. I've watched enough Bar Rescue episodes to know that 1) yes, that can be the problem, and 2) that shouldn't be a problem in a reputable establishment. I mean, after all, doesn't it get even hotter around here in the summer? The IPA ended up being a bit warmer than what I'm accustom to and the carbonation was almost non-existent. But enough about that. The wings: I suppose I expected more since this was on Guy's show and he was impressed. I assumed tender, meaty wings. The Gochujang traditional wings were not. They were fairly tough. Not sure if it was the Sunday night chef overcooking or what. Flavor was great! The Mango Thai Chili traditional wings were more tender and they were flavorful as well. The traditional fries were a bit soggy. They were, however, hot and editable. The House Pickles were delicious and a great complement to the wings. I decided not to have a second IPA since I wasn't happy with the first one. And finally, when the bill came I noticed I was charged $0.50 more for the wings and $0.25 more for the pickles. I know, I know, so what, it's $0.75. It's something I wouldn't generally notice, but I ordered the pickles because I saw they were only $1.25 on the QR-only menu and that number stuck in my head. I pointed this out and the bartender did discount me the three-quarters difference. Bottom line: sauces are really good and flavorful. Place needs some work to be squeaky clean. Not sure I will be back.

Yelp
If you want service don't go in Friday night. Sign said "wait to be seated" we waited, we were told they'd be right with us, we waited, we approached the bar and were told we could order there, no menu was offered, we tried the QR code and it didn't work. We left. No one seemed to notice/care.

Yelp
This looks like a locals favorite spot. Located down town but not too far off the interstate. We stopped on our way out of town since the gluten free reviews were wonderful. We did get our order to go. Next time we will hopefully have time to sit, enjoy a game on the TV and the ambiance of the venue. We ordered the sweet potato waffle fries, traditional wings, one salt and pepper, the other Parmesan garlic. I missed getting a pic of the fries and salt pepper wings . The salt and pepper were packed with flavor from the onions and jalapeños, we would easily order these again. Same with the Parmesan garlic, I can see why these are a favorite. The wings were wonderful. Crispy, flavorful and safe for this celiac body!

Yelp
A little upset that this little biz didn't respond to my review. My return may take longer, do better.

Yelp
This my favorite chicken place! I wish I lived closer to their location so I could have it more often! They have the best, good sized, flavorful wings! The hot gochujang is my absolute favorite of the flavors, I prefer boneless, but I have heard that their boned-in is fantastic! I always pair my wings with a side of Hot Sweet Potato Waffle fries! They have a ton of our local beers...Lively, Vanessa house, Roughtail...and many more. We have always had quick and friendly service whether eating there or getting our food to go. If you haven't tried, I recommend you make it your next stop!
google avatar

Yelp
I think to give this place a negative review would have to mean one of two things. You either didn't order the right thing or you just didn't get chicken and beer. The chicken is out of this world, but my true favorite is the fried pickles. They are not like any other that you have had the sauce that comes for dipping is also delightful. I'm already craving this place again so I will be back very soon.

Yelp
First time coming here and was not disappointed! The service was great and they have a really nice outdoor area. Our food came out very quickly and the wonton nachos were amazing. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Some of the best wings you'll find in the OKC metro. Their sauce selection is top tier, the beer selection is on-point, and you know you'll be in for a great meal.
google avatar

Yelp
Recently returned to Chick-n-beer in my travels and it was much improved. Wings and sides are tasted, service is fast and friendly, and the smol space is still small. Can now recommend!

Yelp
Run, don't walk! This is a top notch Diners, Drive-In, & Dives spot with amazing service! We went around 1:00pm on Wednesday for lunch. There were a few small groups of people inside, definitely was not pack by any means. We sat at the bar. Jaesen, Our bartender, let us know that she was the only server & bartender in today. Jaesen is amazing!! We really appreciated Jaesen's service. We are from out of town so she helped us find a local beer that we both enjoyed (which was her first choice of beer for each of us based on what we said we liked/didn't like). She went over the menu, told us what was popular, & what her favorites were. We ordered 6 traditional lemon pepper (Jaesen's favorite), 6 traditional Szechuan garlic parm (wings that Guy Fieri ate on DDD), & 6 boneless gochujang. They were all incredibly delicious! The Szechuan was my favorite! We also got the hot sweet potato waffles - I could have ate them all by myself because they were THAT good. Definitely will go back when in town again! Thanks Jaesen!

Chris A.

Yelp
Mobile order placed for pickup. Arrived at restaurant at designated pickup time and there were no employees in sight. No host, bartender or waitstaff. People in line at the host station. When the host came in from outside the restaurant he had an attitude like we were interrupting his cigarette. Fries and wings were cold in the Togo box.

Yelp
They had such delicious wings and the staff were very nice! The place was looked really clean would definitely try again

Yelp
The music was fantastic although a bit loud, made it hard to hold a conversation. Ya know how it feels when you rent an air bnb and you walk into a super old small house that has been cheaply renovated and has an odd smell? That's the feel of this restaurant. The toilet in the women's room was broken and couldn't be flushed. The back of the door looked so gross, it needs to be painted. Onto the food. I was so disappointed. I ordered 6 Szechuan garlic parm wings. The ONLY flavor on these wings was Parmesan. I didn't even taste a wisp of garlic and Szechuan wasn't even in the building. My husband had the honey lemon pepper. They were sticky and had some odd red sauce over the top and just weren't very good. The sweet potato waffle fries were good, the regular fries looked mediocre. Everything is ala cart, wings don't come with fries. The Brussels sprouts were really good but nothing I'd return over. The kids meals weren't worth the price. They didn't have apple juice but the menu listed it, the chicken nuggets were huge chunks of chicken, not true nuggets, and the fruit cup was a dole fruit cup with all that juice in it and the lid still on the cup. They just plopped the dirty cup right next to the chicken. The service was okay. My husband's water cup sat empty and when the food came I had to remind them about the ranch I ordered but they were friendly. I went in with such high hopes because of the positive reviews but I just didn't see anything here worth a return visit especially with the bill being $60 before tip.

Yelp
LOVE!!!! Best wings. Appreciate the local beer selection but also the $5 PBR and shot... The cauliflower wings were very good also -- I had heard rave reviews from friends. Service is always solid. They bring big ice waters pretty immediately, keep up with you, and can recommend things like sauces. I've been three times so far, and all have been good.

Joseph T.

Yelp
This place has one of the worse services ever. I've never had to wait so long for a to go order that was placed 20 minutes prior. I've been here for 35 min and still have not received my food.
google avatar

Megan J.

Yelp
Long wait to get sat down, but once we did service was fast. The wings are amazing, love the honey lemon pepper. The fries are very bland and fried pickles taste like fried cucumbers. I would say come for the wings and beer only.

Michelle P.

Yelp
First time I came here over a year ago it was good now it's dirty and just okay. I also couldn't get past how dirty the women's bathroom was. See pics. What does the kitchen look like if they never clean the bathroom. Also it doesn't flush easily. We had to wait longer than I thought and chicken was good but nothing spectacular and fry's were cold.

Terry A.

Yelp
Just ordered the nachos and a beer taster. Beer on draft was warm and the nachos came out cold. Sent them back remade and said they were straight out of the oven, but the meat was still like warm at best. Service was slow and I waited for 5 min just to get a fork. Usually they are better. Won't be back for a while.

Yelp
This is a gem. We ordered the salt and pepper fries and fried pickles for appetizers. The fries were inventive and delicious perfect balance of salt, heat, and sweet onion. We ordered 3 types of boneless chicken BBQ honey red curry (not hot just great balance of flavors), Gochuiang (hot but such great flavor), and Mango chili (a little sweet but great contrast to the other two and one order of cauliflower in yellow curry (I found this hot but no one else did). Alex our server brought us samples from the great selection of local brews on tap. I enjoyed the Stonecloud neon cloud Belgian and hubby had the Prairie bomb stout both so flavorful and great accompaniment to the chicken. Have to go back and try the shishito peppers and Brussels sprouts. Ambiance is very casual and friendly.
google avatar

Bryson B.

Yelp
If your trying to find this place there's no big Las Vegas type sign pointing to it, you just need to slow down an you'll find it. An slow down you will when you open your pie hole to there amazing flavors of wings and appetizers etc. Try the Dip duo with won ton chips, the flavors will smack you in the face like a ufc fighter. Also we got the six piece boneless with a sweet bbq sauce that had root beer flavor to it OMG off the charts good. Along with six piece traditional in an Asian sauce that I couldn't spell out if I tried. There's a reason Guy Fieri has come here, an so should you!
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
If exotic flavors and chicken wings are your thing, this is the place for you. The variety of Asian inspired wings are a splash of freshness often missed in the southwest. My personal favorites include the mama's sweet and spicy, the yellow curry, and a side of the spicy sweet potato fries. Feel free to mix and match flavors for your own preference. I have never had a flavor I didn't like. The service is solid especially considering the heavy traffic during peak times. It also is a decent location for and casual meal. It is a staple in my catalogue for date nights.

Yelp
Pros: Been hearing about this place from non Asian friends. Great atmosphere. Loved that the weather was nice and all the windows were open. The only thing I liked eating was our appetizer (hot and sweet potato waffle fries). Decent bathrooms. We found parking easily. Cons: This is not an Asian wing place. I should have known when we got there and no other Asian people were eating there. Mistakenly thought this was a Korean chicken wing place? I mean I thought I read somewhere they used the potato starch? They do not. Korean chicken wings are crunchy and flavorful. These were not. So I got the fish sauce wings. Too much fish sauce and not sweet enough. Cucumber pickles were not the cucumber kim chi we were expecting. My husband was unable to eat the gochujung wings he ordered. Dry with a weird flavor. My husband didn't like the waffle fry appetizer, but It was the only thing I was able to eat. Service was OK. Our waitress was super busy and inattentive. No one came by for drink refills till we were on our way out? There was a lady working in the kitchen wearing sunglasses. Isn't that dangerous?

Yelp
Probably my favorite place to eat in OKC. The vibe is laid back but fun, I feel like I could have just as much fun with my friends here as I could my young daughter. I especially love sitting on the porch when it's nice out. They have a GREAT local beer selection. We stumbled upon this place by accident and fell in love. Everything tastes good but my family's personal favorites are the Szechuan Garlic Parmesan boneless wings and the hot sweet potato fries (with the Gochujang hot sauce). The wings are insanely crispy, even after a day in the fridge. I don't know what voodoo magic they are doing to that wing batter but I'm all for it. And the fries! The sweetness of the sweet potato compliments the sweet tang of the Gochujang sauce, then comes the heat. I could not recommend this place enough. Please do be cognizant of wait times at food rush times of the day. They are currently understaffed but do their best.

Yelp
Winging our dinner after a quite heavy lunch. We ordered the 18-piece traditional wings in 3 different sauces - Mama's Sweet and Salty, Szechuan Parmesan Garlic and Honey BBQ. All of them are excellent! The Asian in me loved Mama's Sweet and Salty, yum! The Thai Crunch Salad was phenomenal! Very fresh and crunchy, indeed.

Yelp
Wings were great gouchujang and salt and pepper Will return again Great sevrvice!!

Yelp
First time going here and it was great! Interesting selection of food and was fun to go outside of comfort zone! Loved all the food we got!
google avatar

Taryn K.

Yelp
Great wings, great beer, and good vibes! What more could you ask for? Chick N Beer is probably one of my favorite places to go for unique and tasty wings. A large part of their menu has an Asian twist, so it's perfect for those who love a little bit of spice! My favorite wings are definitely the sweet chili. They are SO GOOD. They've also got really tasty sweet potato waffle fries! And you absolutely have to get the kimchi fries. They are famous for a reason!

Destiny B.

Yelp
Best wing spot in OKC, try the gpchujang and honey lemon pepper. Both traditional and boneless are good so you can't go wrong. Ranch is homemade and fireee
google avatar

Trinity J.

Yelp
Small portions, high prices not too surprising these days but still not great. I have given this place several chances over the years and it's just not worth it. You'll be happier going to wing stop.
google avatar

Mike Q.

Yelp
What an amazing place for wings and beer! We sampled almost everything when it came to wing flavors! All the flavors we had where amazing. I'd also like to point out how good the homemade blue cheese dressing and ranch are there too. The craft beers on tap paired well with the wings we had. I can't wait to come back to Oklahoma City and eat here again!
google avatar

Savanah F.

Yelp
Food was decent! Nothing special but was good. Service was good but slow bc they seemed to be short staffed.
google avatar

Genevieve F.

Yelp
I dropped in here and got an excellent Old Fashioned with Basil Hayden. It was so good I ended up having two (lol). I sat at the bar and definitely enjoyed talking with an awesome bartender who's name I failed to get (my bad). I ordered six wings with two sauces on the side. I got the "Sweet Chili" and the "Bourbon Teriyaki." The "Sweet Chili" is described as a "zesty sweet and sour sauce." It tasted too artificial and was not my favorite. However the "Bourbon Teriyaki" was bomb. It was a thin Teriyaki with Bourbon and sesame seeds and was exceptional.

Rebecca L.

Yelp
My first visit to OKC and my daughter brought me to this restaurant. She wasn't kidding when she said these are the best wings ever! We order gochujang and the bourbon teriyaki wings. They were crispy and sauced to perfection. It's a quaint little establishment and our waiter (Dakota) was friendly and efficient. If I ever get back to OKC, I'll definitely come back.
google avatar

Hedda D.

Yelp
Everything tasted like it was dipped in water. The ranch was super watery, i'm not sure why they come in such small cups I feel like it would save money to just have bigger ramekins. Also thinner ranch is fine but i'd like it to like... stay on the food y'know? I had the root beer boneless wings and they were okay for the first piece and then i realized it just tasted like really REALLY muted barbecue sauce. They serve fries but the only sauces they have are the wing sauces (watery) ranch, spicy ranch (tasted like hot sauce with milk in it), ketchup, and bleu cheese. Also they were out of to go cups?? Which is fine but odd. Kinda dim in there and the acoustics are weird but it is an old house. The staff was wonderful though!!! :)
google avatar

Codi W.

Yelp
For all my celiac peeps!! This place has a great gluten free menu and procedures in place to help protect against cross-contact. GF items clearly marked for guests.
google avatar

Leslie D.

Yelp
I love this tasty spot! Not only do they have traditional and boneless wings, they also have cauliflower wings. The service is always great, the vibe is laid back, and the food is delicious. My favorite sauce is the gochujang, but I've loved every sauce I've had here. There can be a long wait sometimes, so if you are in a rush takeout may be your best option.
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
We were super excited to try this place. Waitress didn't know what was on tap. Said look at the menu. We ordered 4 flavors of wings. When brought out the waitress told us what was what. Well my honey lemon pepper ended up being my husbands sweet chilli. She said well they look just alike so.... Honey lemon pepper tasted more like honey ghost pepper. Horrible. Asked for blue cheese and got a ranch cup with some blue cheese crumbles. I will say the Brussels sprouts were good, but not good enough to come back here again.

Alexandria B.

Yelp
Food is great but the last 4 times I have been here, they have been out of kimchi.... At 11:30am
google avatar

Gina T.

Yelp
The five stars is honestly for their fish sauce wings (Mama's Sweet & Salty). They're kind of mind-blowing. Definitely go for those. We also ordered the gochujang and the buffalo sriracha. Both good, but the fish sauce ones are the stars. My one critique is the kimchi. For having a Korean theme, the kimchi is unfortunately not good. Doesn't matter though, it's only $1 and the bomb wings more than make up for it.
