Best beet salad I’ve had in a while. The teriyaki chicken was delicious as well. The ingredients are fresh, high quality, and you can taste it. We ordered the Shrimp Beet Salad and Maui Chicken Bowl and they both hit the spot. Our server was super sweet and efficient. Will definitely be coming back again. Thank you for having gluten free options!

Quality restaurant located in a strip mall. The restaurant was well laid out and nice. Service was great. The bar area in the front was well stocked and had tvs. There were plenty of diverse, great sounding food choices. We got the burger and Maui chicken (teriyaki chicken in a pineapple), and the house chardonnay. All were excellent. I highly recommend the teriyaki chicken and it was enough for 3 meals. There's something for every taste. We will definitely be back.

I fun restaurant/ bar that I'm glad I found. I had a "Facebook Special" quarter pounder and a cucumber salad and modelo. Except for the one very green unripe tomato in the salad, the rest of the food was great. It's a bit ridiculously cold in here, like 60 degrees but other than that, the place is big and clean. I had to ask my server to wipe the table I sat at & he did a cheezy cleaning job so I cleaned it myself. That's my reason for 4 stars vs 5. The menu has some awesome looking dishes that I want to come back and try. A bit pricey but everyone seems to be pricey nowadays.

You know a restaurant is good when the locals treat it like a second home—and that's exactly what Copper Spoon Tavern feels like. The bartender remembered my drink after just one visit (an old-fashioned with a twist of orange peel), and the burger? Hands-down the best in town. Cooked medium-rare just as requested, with that perfect crispy edge and buttery brioche bun. I usually sit at the bar, chat with regulars, and watch whatever game is on. It’s not just food here—it’s a vibe.

Food was great. Chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The pickle with Dr Pepper beverage was interesting. Only down side was the extremely slow service. We waited twenty minutes just for someone to appear so we could ask for the check.

We went to this place last Saturday on our way back from hiking, which is why we stopped by. We needed something healthy, so we opted for salads and grilled chicken, which were really flavorful and moist. I liked what we ordered, and the staff were very friendly! We went quite early, so there were no people around us, but the place was getting busy when we left!

If you’re looking for a place that gets brunch, Peachwood & Co. is it. Got there around 10:30am, and though there was a short wait, it was worth every second. We shared the lemon curd pancakes and shakshuka, and both were beautiful and delicious. They serve coffee in hand-thrown pottery mugs, which is such a lovely detail. Also—every server had a smile, even though it was packed. Real pros. The plants hanging from the ceiling give the whole place a fresh, relaxing feel.

Yelp
The first time I visited Chicken Charlie's at the Del Mar Fair I tried a fried Twinkie.  It was amazing.  Each year I looked forward to seeing what new delicious treat he would fry up.  Later he opened a sit down restaurant in Clairemont and I looked forward to his Facebook specials which featured a discount or something not on the regular menu.  Sadly that location closed.  The Rancho Bernardo location opened up and it was the fanciest yet.  Now I visit this location to see what awesome treat Charlie is cooking up. This visit the Facebook special was 4 pieces of fried chicken with mashed potatoes, and a biscuit.  Biscuit looked like ones from KFC.  It was fresh out of the oven with a thin crispy outer layer and fluffy goodness inside.  Loved how moist it was and the delicious mild flavor. Fried chicken had a thin crispy outer layer and tender juicy chicken beneath.  Loved the southern style batter which was seasoned with salt and black pepper.  This is one of my favorite places to eat fried chicken. For dessert Chicken Charlie fried up a pair of Twinkies.  There was a crispy outer layer while the middle cake part was fluffy, and the center was filled with sweet cream.  Fried Twinkies were very sweet and delicious.  The fried process changed the flavor a bit. Customer service was excellent.  Servers checked often to see if I needed anything.  Charlie fried up Twinkies for me although they are not a menu item.  Chicken Charlie's is one of my favorite spots to eat as you never know what awesome culinary creations Charlie is going to whip up.

Yelp
We came here for a fundraising event for the local high school. I appreciated that there was lots of staff because it was a pretty big group and our service was fast. The portions here are pretty large. We tried the chicken and waffles as well as a chicken sandwich with the fries. The fries are really, really good. The other items were equally as good but not as good as those fries! Fried Oreos also seem to be a big hit with the younger kids

Yelp
Chicken Charlie's was a staple at the Del Mar Fair when I used to visit so I decided to try this place out. Service was very friendly and quick, but the prices are a bit too high for what you get. My son got a $9 strawberry shake and had two sips. I guess he didn't like the chunks of sprinkles inside, but that's his personal preference. The bacon wrapped pickles were way too salty, but the fried chicken dinner was yummy, with both the Mac and cheese and coleslaw sides tasting great. Parking was easy and the sangria was good, but based on the pricing I'm not sure I'll be back soon.

Yelp
My hubby's friend said these are the best cheesesteaks ever--WRONG! More like the worst I've had. It may be rib-eye but the meat was tough, dry, over cooked and seized up. Roll was crap. And you can't pick up the sandwich- who eats a cheesesteak with a knife and fork. Food took a while. Place is nice for what it is. Service was good, but the food - not so hot.

Yelp
First time at Chicken Charlie's on Easter Sunday. We were driving around the area to see who was open during the holiday and landed here. Every customer was at the bar except us that day. I really enjoyed my Fried Chicken Dinner which had pieces of breast, thigh, wing, and drumstick plus choice of two sides. I picked mac n cheese and side salad. The skin was well seasoned, fried nicely, and not greasy, while the chicken was juicy. I loved it! Mac and cheese was good but nothing out of the ordinary; reminded me of the one they have at other restaurants like El Pollo Loco. It was also happy hour when we went, so we ordered a margarita, beer and cheese balls off that menu. Cheese balls were a good choice; nice cheese pull. My family enjoyed their sandwiches as well. The restaurant is pretty spacious with a lot of seating. It was decked out in Poway High School decor when we went. Service was friendly, no complaints. Food took about 20 minutes to all come out together.

Yelp
We love the Maui Chicken Bowl so much we drove from OC to San Diego. I know it is offered at the fair's in the area but the fair parking is less than favorable. Great service, great food at this location. We will be back!

Yelp
On 1/25/25 my family of 4 was eating dinner at a corner table in the restaurant. The only customers were my family, a man on one side of the bar and one standing on the other side. As we were finishing our meal, the man standing at the bar walks ALL the way over to our isolated table and just STANDS in front of our table and doesn't say a word for a good 20 seconds. We all proceed to not entertain this drunk man and ignore him as he literally just stood there looking at each and every single one of us. My family is really not the type of family that you should try any funny business with, so we were truly hoping that he gets the hint to walk away. It is not until he begins to make comments to us to the point where we just say that we are trying to eat our dinner. He proceeds with saying he is not bothering us and ignores our request for him to leave and intentionally stands there and continues to stare. I can see the workers watching the situation with concern and as we flagged the servers I can see their urgency in them trying to get this man away from us. Once he was removed from our table, the manager apologized for the situation, checked in on us, and compensated with a free dessert. I do not blame Chicken Charlie's for this experience. I was thankful for the workers but, I do think that there is a time and place to refuse service to someone. Unfortunately it was just an odd experience that I felt had to be shared. On a different note: Overall food was good, I would say Happy Hour and/or lunch deals are more worth it. The inside was clean and it is a good location for watching sports with a meal. The price of everything is fairly expensive, but some things are more worth it than others. The crispness/fried food is a staple piece that is worth trying. The bathrooms were tidy. This is definitely a place that can sit some bigger parties if needed. Funnel cake, tater tots, crispy chicken and onion rings were all fantastic! I do not think I would willingly come in again, however, think it is definitely a place to for sure try at least once if you have never gone to Del Mar Fairgrounds to try this food.

Yelp
Came here for some light bites on a recommendation for something local. My friend and I ordered a handful of apps-- I had two tacos which were pretty decent- one chicken, one beef. They were fresh except for the avocado which looked like it had been sitting out for awhile. I also had the buffalo cauliflower- it was crispy but very overbreaded and vinegar-y tasting so I scraped the breading off and just ate the cauliflower. My friend had buffalo wings- her usual which came out as expected. If you are the beer and buffalo wings kind of person, you may be totally satisfied with this place that offers standard fare and an easy way to watch games and grab a bite.

Yelp
My Boyfriend treated me to this place after trying it with his longtime friend. Loved the Fish n Chips and we took the Maui Chicken home in the pineapple. Only con was the rice content was smaller that what we are used to. Great food!

Yelp
This is my 5th time at Chicken Charlie's. When I ate here 3 weeks ago with a large group. I had not heard of Chicken Charlie's before until the large group posted that they were having their monthly social get together here at Chicken Charlie's because people liked it so much when they came before it. Well this visit I ordered the daily dinner special which is Maui chicken for $15 instead of $18. It was heavily review and dark meat is the best if it were white meat I wouldn't even order it but I verified it was dark meat and they give you a decent pile of chicken on top of half of a pineapple with some of the chunks down at the bottom and my I'm making it four stars because one of the Maui Chicken reviews is right they don't give you enough rice for all the heavenly sauced chicken that is a very intense and flavor the white rice is not enough to eat that chicken with but I told my server. When she asked the manager about bringing me another scoop of white rice for no extra charge, he said No. Another complaint and I told the owner... he came to my table and I said I have some feedback about this Maui chicken I'm eating for the first time. The extra teriyaki sauce that they bring you is freezing cold and he was like he was not aware that it was being served freezing cold. I said I asked my server to bring a heated up teriyaki sauce. He said he never thought about heating the teriyaki sauce. I said when you go to a barbecue place they heat up their barbecue sauce and he acknowledging that was true, and he thanked me for the tip. But I don't know if he'll follow up on making all teriyaki chicken servings with heated up barbecue sauce. But at least I gave my feedback because when you dip the chicken in the freezing cold teriyaki sauce is quite a rude awakening. So I downgraded my review from five stars for last time if you read the previous review about the Fried Chicken special I had for $10. It was terrific! I was euphoric over the coating being crispy like a potato chip. This time whoever cleaned the table just wipe the crumbs onto where I would sit. That happens often in restaurants they just brush the crumbs off onto the seating area. I went another time, for Daily Special which was 4 chicken legs and rice for $10, no rice substitutions, and at 5 pm, they ran out already. I did not stay to eat something else, cos I don't wanna pay full price. I went on EASTER Sunday March 31, and only 1 table had people sitting. I ordered the daily special which was 2 pieces fried chicken, dark meat, and fries. I really like Charlie's fries, crispy like the chicken coating. Everything friend tastes great here. My server was sooooo attentive, came to check on me at least 4 times. Took trash from my table as it accumulated, not when I leave the table and go out the door. I am moving my review back from 4 stars to five stars. Bathroom was so clean this time, too.

Yelp
First time here and food was great ! Ample portions for one person, I feel most of the entrees could be shared to leave room for dessert . Service was good , a little slower than expected though . Ambiance is that of a all age sports bar . We did have the desserts , we ordered funnel cake and fried cookie dough . These desserts are designed for two people to share .. would be too much for one . I will definitely come back if I'm in the area .

Yelp
I've now been here maybe 10 times? I'm obsessed. Unpretentious, amazing vibes, incredible customer service, epic happy hour, and recipes that are obviously made and created with passion. Every time I'm out near RB, I exclusively choose to go to Charlie's.

Yelp
I'm familiar with Chicken Charlie's from the local fair food every year. On my lunch trip here I decided on the crispy shrimp and fries. It was what I expected and was overall sufficient. Our server was attentive and friendly. The only issue I had was the wait time for the food. I believe there were only six other patrons at the restaurant for lunch. Our party's orders (there were 5 of us) took over a half hour to get. It seemed a bit extensive. They appear to have a full bar here and a happy hour deal from 2pm-5pm beginning on Tuesdays. I forgot what day that deal cuts out though.

Yelp
My family visited Chicken Charlie's Table and had an underwhelming experience. Overall the service was disappointing. When we arrived the person near the hostess table seemingly didn't want to seat us and appeared to be avoiding eye contact. Our waitstaff service was underwhelming. She never came to check on us after bringing the food (no offer of refill, condiments, "how is the food?"). Given that it was 2pm and there were only 3 occupied tables, and she was seen standing around appearing bored, this was disappointing. The food was fine but not anything particularly special. A positive note was that parking was ample and convenient.

Yelp
Ordered fish and chips today. Fries wasn't appetizing and the fish was just mediocre. Got the funnel cake and I thought it was just like the one at the fair. More hard pieces than soft. It was a quick $30.00 meal that wasn't worth it.

Crystal W.

Yelp
Absolutely Delicious! I came in today and ordered the bacon wrapped pickle! You definitely must try the bacon wrapped pickle. It is so deliciously mouthwatering perfect! They have a lot of amazing things on their menu. One of a kind place. It was clean and friendly. the service was great. I will definitely be returning! It was so good. It didn't even make it to my destination I ate the whole thing in the car.

Yelp
Came in with friends 1 of which was SUPER late. And our server was so nice and didn't make us feel bad. The shrimp appetizer was awful. So l bland and over cooked. The rest of the meal tho was bomb. The buffalo blue chicken sandwich was perfect. The onion rings were a big hit. The pineapple chicken dish was yummy and creative. Would return.
google avatar

Yelp
ramen burrito was incredibly bland with very little chicken. i was disappointed i chose this at the fair. much better fair food options.

Yelp
Overall a wonderful lunch experience! Yes they do serve cocktails! Plus they have two different flavors of kool-aid on tap! Ordered a drink with the blue kool-aid (including vodka, lime juice & orange juice). Pleasant surprise on how delicious and smooth it tasted. Not too sweet at all. I'd definitely order it again. My lunch order was The Jessica salad. A tasty cheeseburger salad (which is the only way to eat a cheeseburger with no guilt) surrounded by bacon, avocado and veggies. Love this idea however wish they would serve it in a big bowl to accommodate mixing everything together with the dressing. Next visit I'd like to try the loaded breakfast tots or perhaps the Philly fries. Our servers were just fabulous in every way.

Yelp
Hubby chose this because he had seen it on TV and proposed it for lunch. I saw the Maui chicken on the menu before we even drove there and got real excited It is in a shopping center and there were plenty of parking lots available. When we first opened the door and stepped in, they responded that they were coming soon. After 5 minutes , they told us to pick a table. They would come over with the menus. There are a variety of seating available. There are booths, seating at the bar and regular tables. It felt like there was an industrial- like cool vibe. It gave me the feel like a fast food restaurant with a bar. We picked a table and sat for about 5 minutes before they came with the menus. They took our drink request and the drinks came about 15 minutes later. The restaurant wasn't very busy. But it appeared that they were still struggling to serve in a timely manner. I ordered colada on the rocks. This was a little dilute I feel. I thought I didn't stir it enough so I borrowed the straws from my husband's margarita and stirred it. After stirring, I still felt it was dilute. It wasn't bad. it just lacks the oomph. I snuck a taste of my husband's maragarita. That was really good. So it was just my drink. My husband ordered margarita without the salted rim. It was really good compared to mine. We ordered the kicking shrimp. The shrimp utilized was definitely fresh. The battered shrimp was placed in a bed of lettuce. I feel the batter was not crispy enough. The sauce was not spicy enough for both of us. Also, it would have been great if there was more sauce. The entre we ordered to share was Maui chicken. This was to die for!! The chicken was served in a halved pineapple. The pineapple bowl had sweet cold chunks of pineapple in it topped with grilled chicken thighs and a bowl of jasmine white rice. The meat was succulent and had a sweet and savoury sauce reminiscent of teriyaki but not as sweet as that. Between the two of us, we still had chicken leftover. This was a good meal. If service was a little more timely, this would be perfect. We would definitely come back again.

Yelp
This is my go to place to just pop in for a beer and a bite. The staff, especially Makayla, is friendly and takes good care of you while you're there. Food is delicious and plenty. The ambiance is relaxed and perfect for a neighborhood joint.

Yelp
This review is overdue. We were not impressed at our first few visits, but this last visit a few weeks back had me wishing for more, more, more. The chicken was so good! and those French fries were some of the best we've had in a long, long time. Everyone was super nice, and it was very pleasant experience. Now, I can't wait to visit again, and luckily, we live close by.

Yelp
I don't understand why this spot doesn't have more five star reviews. I'm thinking probably because of the price but there's ways to still enjoy the food at a better price. I've been to their booth at the fair once and didn't know they had a location in Rancho Bernardo. I'm in RB a lot so I have to make this one of my spots. The location may not be the best as it's tucked away in a neighborhood. I think because of that it's usually not too busy but I don't mind because there's always a table available when I get there. The food is pretty much the same as the food at the fair. I love the food here plus they have adult drinks that aren't on the cheap side but they have a Happy Hour. Some of my favorite dishes are the chicken and waffles, the onion rings, tacos, and the hazy IPA from Modern Times. I still haven't tried the chicken teriyaki with pineapple but I will soon enough.

Yelp
I want start off by saying that up until today I've always had a good experience here. Today I was in the area and stopped in for lunch at 3:30 to catch some of the baseball game, I order a drink and asked the bartender if she could put the game on. She checked her phone and said that it was at 6:40, pointed out that it was 6:40 eastern time 3:40 pacific. She then got a VERY bad attitude and started saying things what I couldn't hear because she was turned away but people next to her were all looking at me trying to figure out what had happened because they all heard the interaction. She then left to the kitchen where we could all hear her yelling. A few people turn to ask what happened because they all heard that I didn't say anything wrong and an older guy even came up to me saying that he talks to the owner and he has his concerns about the service saying that he tells his friends that if they're "looking for good service, this isn't the place, but the food is good". I tried asking the bartender if I said something to offend her so I could apologize (even though I knew I said nothing wrong) then she answered in a very aggressive tone saying that I was "condescending" when I pointed out the time. It was a very uncomfortable situation where she even asked another person to deliver my drink. I decided talk to the mama who recognized that I do stop by from time to time and after explaining the situation she offered to not charge me for my drink which I refused. I did not ask to talk to her because I wanted a free drink. I understand we all have bad days, however, this person should not be making people feel bad when they're just trying to relax and be nice.

Yelp
Whenever I heard Chicken Charlie, I thought of the half cut pineapple with rice and chicken (Maui Chicken). Chicken Charlie's Table has always been a staple seen in the San Diego County Fair amongst others. Their restaurant in Rancho Bernardo was beautiful. It was huge, had some outdoor seating, and just a lot of open-ness. I like the ambiance of the interior decorating. The menu choices were quite extensive, and on the weekends, they have brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 9AM - 2PM. I expected the rest of their menu to be completely fried items (due to what I've seen at the fair). Which the menu did meet expectations (brunch options, family dinners, burgers, baskets, etc.), but they also offer hearty salads. Another discovery was that you get sucked back into childhood nostalgia with the kool-aid that they add in to mix with drinks. DATE: August 2023 11:30 AM for 4 people We had Samuel as our waiter, but he was also working the bar. He was awesome and friendly! -My husband, L, ordered the Kool-Aid Old Fashioned, which consisted of Bulleit Bourbon, Angostura Bitters, Cherry Kool-Aid, Orange peel, and a cherry. -I went for a Citrus Fizz, which consisted of orange, lemon, demerara, aquafava. -He created the drink, the Maggie (after one of our members in the group). We did see him add in like orange juice, tito's, blue kool-aid, pineapple and cherry on top. Our food came out promptly at a good pace. They also have other interesting drinks like Anna-Elsa, The Poway Mom, Bernardo Bloody Mary, etc. The food we ordered were definitely worth their price. They were all very hearty and huge. - My husband, L, ordered the 'Chicken Fried Steak' - Tenderized Ney York steak, breaded, fried, topped with country sausage gravy, served with two eggs, tater tots, and sourdough toast. He managed to finish off most of it, leaving behind the tater tots and sourdough toast. And was complimented by Samuel that, it is a quite a feat because most patrons can't find it. - I ordered the beet salad. I enjoyed it with the crispy chicken (+$5) on the side. It was humungous. The beets were definitely big! I did ask them to remove the feta and tomatoes. - Yelper Maggie had 'The Jessica.' The descriptions was Cheeseburger Salad: chopped half-pound burger with cheddar cheese over romaine, Tomatoes, Red Onion, Crispy Bacon, an Half an Avocado. Topped with Ranch. Basically a deconstructed cheeseburger without the salad. Also hearty plate of food. - Yelper S ordered the fish n chips, which was 12 ounces of crispy battered wild caught Cod, served with tartar sauce and lemon. Our group had a nice time at this location. It shares the same parking lot as the Albertsons and a few other shops. My only complaint is the salad plating It's great to see how they display all the things in your salad. But, it's pretty hard to mix all of that on a plate. If all the salads could be moved into giant bowls, it would be SO much easier to eat. I would come again to try other things on their menu, if I'm in the fried mood. They also got deep fried oreos.

Yelp
Come on Chicken Charlie, first time here, but you can defeather the chicken before serving.

Yelp
Been here a few times now. I enjoyed the lobster and shrimp basket, fries were crispy and the fish from the fish and chip plate was pretty good and flakey as well. Food takes a bit long which is why I docked one star. Will be returning though

Yelp
So, Chicken Charlie's is that wild looking place at the San Diego County Fair with the crazy concoctions every year. Deep fried Twinkies? That's old news. How about Deep Fried Kool-Aid? They will basically deep fry anything there that isn't tied down. Well, they have a standalone restaurant which has a spacious interior and patio. They have some of the crazy deep fried stuff on the menu, but for the most part, it's straight ahead, normal, fried grub (although, to their credit, you can ask for your food to be grilled, too). The portions are generous. Our server was friendly and right on top of things. We tried the Buffalo Bleu (fried) chicken sandwich with fries. The fries were very crispy and absolutely delicious. The sammy is a big boy and the chicken was juicy. I wish there were just a few more blue cheese crumbles on it, and I wish it was a little spicier, but these are tiny complaints. We also tried the Rodeo Chicken sandwich which comes with BBQ sauce, cheese, bacon, and an onion ring. It's a delicious huge mess of a sandwich. it also comes with those excellent fries. Finally, we had to get the signature Maui Chicken which, while not trip, is absolutely delicious. Just like at the fair, it's pineapple and a ton of tender teriyaki chicken served in a half pineapple with a scoop of white rice on the side. It ain't cheap but, by God, it's wonderful. I had somewhat low expectations because all I knew of them came from my experiences at the fair but Charlie's definitely exceeded them. I wouldn't go way out of my way to come here but if I lived closer, I would come back. This is a popular place and I can see why. They are family friendly but they've got beer and booze, too, so all bases are covered. Your arteries and waistline won't thank you but if you want or need some comfort food, Charlie's has got your baby got back.

Yelp
This is the same Charlie's Chicken that is at the Del Mar Fair!! Yes, that one!!! I'm giving 5 stars for the overall uniqueness and just love that there is a place where I can get fair style food at a sit down location that has a great beer selection and TV's everywhere!! Everything's fried, just like the fair. They have salads but I'd say come here if you're reSh to enjoy what makes them special. I got the fried chicken dinner with onion rings and coleslaw and mini corn dog bites. They do fried chicken really well, it was delicious. The corn dogs were super fried, but that's what they were going for. My boyfriend and I had a great time splurging on fun food and good beer while watching basketball. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great, very attentive and friendly. They serve Kool Aide on tap, it's carbonated just FYI. I got cherry Kool Aide to go in a cute bottle. They have a limited stock, the bottles are left over from last years fair. The location was easy to find and there was ample parking the shopping center. The restaurant felt great inside with the doors open and was very clean. I can't eat like this too often but I'll surely be back. I think it's a fun place for friends or dates. The have plenty of seating if you are in a group too.

Yelp
"Kinda" WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER (3.2 stars) The atmosphere is like a neighborhood restaurant for Rancho Bernardo. Very chill. Super nice staff. Food was generously given and a nice list of cocktails available. MAUI CHICKEN ($18) - had to order after seeing it's popularity. Presentation was spectacular, chicken was good, rice was horrible. The chicken was like typical teriyaki chicken but nicely stacked on top of a half cut pineapple with the cubed pineapples at the bottom soaking in the glaze that drips down from the chicken. It was ripe! But the rice... sorry to be sick a stickler on this, I'm Asian and obviously have to judge hard on the way the rice was cooked. I don't know what kind of rice they used but it was mushy. They definitely need a lesson on cooking rice. But overall this dish was good but the price in my opinion was a little more than what it's worth. RECOMMENDED. They offer koolaid cocktails! Unfortunately, I didn't order one. Next time for sure. Until the next review...

Yelp
To start, the prices here are not budget friendly. Once I looked at the menu to verify the prices, I was reminded of the fair food that I avoid. If you have visited the fair, you know exactly what I mean. Chicken Charlie's is selling 6 wings for $11.75? No sides, just the wings. Even if the food is excellent, I would not recommend CC due to the extremely high prices. Now the food is just okay if the prices are affordable. With the prices they charge for the quality served, it's outrageous. I am surprised the community would support this business. I won't. I am a big believer in quality, and value. If you are too, avoid Chicken Charlie's.

Yelp
So we are back at Chicken Charlie's in RB. Long drive from the coast of Carlsbad. But always worth every mile. This time we were treated to one on many surprise dishes Charlie puts out. Teriyaki ribeye with fresh stir fried vegetables. So perfectly cooked and flavorful. I was able to cut each piece with a fork. As a added bonus we got there at 2:00 and happy hour just started. Craft brew $5 ! Looking forward to coming back for the best fish & chips in town. Now available with their incredible lightly battered shrimp.

Yelp
Worse than Jack in the Box, costs twice as much and takes ten times as long. Also, the staff will expect a tip.

Thank you Megan A for providing great service and being patient and answering all our dumb questions. Charlie .... You run a tip top place that's perfect for us middle class folks. See you again soon !!

Yelp
Hot, tasty and fresh is my best description. Service was super fast for a Saturday night, the fish was flaky and tasty and the chicken fingers were moist and yummy. Substituted onion rings which was a good decision because the rings are delicious

Yelp
Our first time! We were in the mood to be "bad" so came here. We tried to order unusual food and drink we wouldn't find other places. Food was great! Sophia our server was wonderful. Prices are good. We see why it was so packed. Fun place for a quick date night!

Yelp
After a long day of Shopping yesterday we were looking for a quick food that we could eat and we decided to swing by to "CHICKEN CHARLIE'S TABLE " We were greeted right away by the sweetest server named MICHELLE. We got our Table close to the Owner (CHARLIE) who was dining with his business friends. And when he got up to get something in the kitchen he went to our table and welcomed us and make sure that we were being taken well care of. For our food we orderedd: * MAUI CHICKEN - This is Charlie's signature Pineapple bowl (Pineapple chunks, white rice, and grilled teriyaki) *RIBS & CHICKEN - 8 bones (2/3 rack) of baby back ribs and 2 pieces of white or dark meat w/ 2 sides *FRIED CHICKEN DINNER - 4 pieces of Fried Chicken w/ 2 sides *PINEAPPLE SENORITA - Tosco Tequila, triple sec, pineapple juice, and a splash of beer. * FRIED OREOS - 4 fried Oreos served w/ vanilla Icecream, powdered sugar, house made whip cream, and choco sprinkles. My MAUI CHICKEN one was so good, it was soft and had the right blend of sweetness, and it had perfect TERIYAKI CHICKEN ! My husband's RACK of RIBS with the side of Onion Rings , were also tender and well seasoned . The Fried Oreo is something you must get after eating those Chickens and Ribs . My drink was good, but I think that next time I will ask them to add more alcohol in it. The 3 of us have different opinions about the seasoning on the Fried Chicken, I think that the Fried chicken is way too salty, my husband said it needs more seasoning like more on the salty side , and my son said that it was just perfect. So I will just leave the Fried chicken seasoning opinion to others ;) And if you guys swing by here look for a server named Michelle, I guarantee you that she will do her best to make your stay satisfying. And look for CHARLIE, the owner, he is such a wonderful person, we met him multiple times before at his other branches. We will definitely come back and try their Breakfast menu next time.

Yelp
This establishment appears to be a local favorite. However, I'm not a local. I first discovered Chicken Charlie's at the San Diego Fair. This year for my birthday I wanted to do something special. I took a 3 hr drive to SD to visit Chicken Charles. It was just as good the first time I had it. I cannot describe how good their pineapple chunky sauce is. If they were smart they'd find a way to sell the sauce in a bottle. I also had their shake. This place is Highly recommended. Great portions for the money and yummy is the food.

Yelp
!!! Love it when an establishment DOES NOT disappoint! This place was on point! This was my first time visiting this place. I've driven by many times and heard good things about it. But last night I experienced the hype! The location is prime on the corner of Rancho Bernardo Rd and Pomerado. And I think we did one better because they hosted The freshman/jv football banquet. Right as we walked in we walked into a great greeting and a bar! Floor plan was strategically laid out and had an out door area as well. We packed that place with the Scripps Ranch football program! Servers were hustling and the bartenders didn't stop. (great service) We ordered the Maui Chicken and let me say.. "Delicious!" Grilled up chicken teriyaki served in a 1/2 pineapple with a side of rice accompanied by some teriyaki sauce. We truly enjoyed ourselves and would, will visit again.

Yelp
The sodas were flat. The food was greasy. The service was poor. It wasn't busy & there were more than enough servers. The staff was just more interested in socializing with one another at the bar than they were in serving the customers. When we mentioned that the fish was greasy, the server replied, "Well, we ARE known for being fair food. It isn't for everyone." (Highly priced fair food at that.) We won't be back.

Yelp
I generally do not like posting negative reviews but this was the worst food that I've had in a long time. The chicken sandwiches were overdone and almost all breading, the mashed potatoes had the texture of play-dough and were awful and cold. The fries were limp and tasted like old mcdonald's fries. The side salad was even bad, it had the most bitter greens I have ever tasted. I will not be coming back. VERY overpriced for the terribly quality of food.

Yelp
Just came for some deep fried cookie dough they also do deep fried Oreos ! And i had a glass of wine. They're at the Del Mar Fair every year and now have a permanent location! Our server was so nice and even though they were super busy she had us in and out and checked on us 3 times!

Yelp
If you're 13 years old and up. No matter how big the party is. You can't order on the kids menu. Not coming here again. They simply look at the child and judge themselves if they can order a kids meal. If you are dealing with local problems, don't put it on the ones actually want to eat there. That's discrimination for a freaken kids meal.

Yelp
We have been to Happy Hour but today was our first time for lunch. The food is fresh and delicious with very generous portions. What put our experience over the top was the service we received from Samuel. I had the beet salad with shrimp and needed many to go boxes. He brought a selection for me to choose from so that I could package them as I wanted. He was friendly and attentive but not intrusive. In short, one of the best servers I've ever had.

Yelp
Been meaning to try CCT for months. So here's what happened. First thing you notice when you walk in is the big red Charlie sign on the far left wall. I'm a big signage guy, maybe I'm just over-visual but it sets a cool vibe and quite frankly Rancho Bernardo is lacking on cool vibes. We sit down and sweet and spunky server Vanessa comes over with menus and water. For some reason I was super thirsty and I swallowed my water like a dying camel in the desert! Glancing at the drink menu the Balboa Mule caught my eye. Had one of those. Not bad. Had a nice kick of vodka. Usually they drown out the booze with ginger beer but this was above average. Or maybe it was my thirsty inner-camel badly needing refreshment. My friends are semi regulars and they know everyone so we got extra awesome service. The special sounded irresistible: Buffalo chicken tenders with Mac and cheese and tater tots. Nine out of ten Americans would vote that a dream meal and I tend to agree so we took the dive and man was it tasty. Between the four of us the special lasted maybe thirty seconds as we were battling forks back and forth desperately fighting over scraps! Yum! I don't remember when I ordered my first Modelo. It was probably right around the time the Special arrived at the table. Andreya ordered lumpia. Now lumpia holds a special place in my heart because over the years I've been blessed to have wonderful Filipino friends and I've been fortunate enough to have sampled amazing Filipino food and the centerpiece of Filipino cuisine for me has always been those beautifully crispy egg rolls stuffed with meaty, veggie goodness. I really wish I could say Charlie's lumpia was great but it wasn't. Crispy and crunchy on the outside but the inside was mushy dough. Not lumpia in my opinion. But the sweet and sour sauce served on the side was nice. I'm jumping around here because it was just that type of night, lots of fast paced conversation and fun. Ordered a second Modelo, because honestly, why the hell not? My first Charlie experience was a good one and I had a really good time and would definitely go back if they'll have me.

Yelp
Where do I begin? I was on he road driving for over 8 hours and really needed some food. I saw Chicken Charlie's and got excited as there used to be one I went to often to Clairemont. They were always yummy and service was always kn point. Not this place. First thing, I had to hit the facilities, needed to wash up. I sit at the bar, a good 5 mins pass, I finally get a menu (no drink order) it was approaching 5 the end of happy hour. It was 435. 445 hits and still no drink order or food order. I'm famished , obviously not getting served here so I leave. The place was not busy, maybe 8 people in the bar area and 4 parties in the main area. It's a Sat evening and this place was empty, should have been a sign but like I said, I needed food. People who walked through the door well after me got service faster. Maybe they didn't like my suit, my hair cut, my skin color. Who knows? Either way, never again.

Yelp
My son and his high school volleyball team had the entire Chicken Charlie's Table (CCT) restaurant to themselves and their family members for their end of the year banquet. If you're a regular attendee to the Del Mar Fair aka San Diego County Fair, then you're familiar with the deep fried mecca called Chicken Charlie's. This is his restaurant and I would agree with the 3.5 overall Yelp rating, but I'll reassess this rating after we order from their full menu. Our banquet had pre-selected entrées. For those who have experienced Chicken Charlie's at the Fair, they specialize in deep fried savory and sweet dishes. I've had their deep fried vegetables and fries. Chicken Charlie's is famous for its deep fried Oreos and deep fried Krispy Kreme burger. CCT is located in Rancho Bernardo and can be reached via the 15 freeway exiting off Rancho Bernardo Road, heading east, and found within the Albertson's shopping center. It's next to a Papa John's, a Starbucks coffee, and across from a Valvoline. There was plenty of seating, both inside and outside, to hold our party of 84. The casual restaurant is clean, the decor is chic, there's a full service bar with tvs to watch sports, and there's a large chicken mural representing the restaurant name. They were understaffed evidenced by some of the diners receiving their food late. My wife's cheeseburger was missing the cheese and mayo. Definitely some opportunities, but the staff's friendliness helped ease the frustration. As I mentioned above, the banquet's menu was abbreviated, so I couldn't check if their restaurant menu contained Chicken Charlie's iconic fair food. One of their meals that put Chicken Charlie on the map is the Maui Chicken, which is Charlie's signature pineapple bowl featuring grilled teriyaki chicken, pineapple chunks, and white rice. After I took my first bite of the teriyaki chicken, I instantly knew why this plate was one Charlie's most popular meals. The chicken was grilled to perfection, it was tender, and I savored each bite of chicken with rice. My only issue with this offering is that there is not enough rice. My wife ordered their Good Ol' Burger, but it was missing the cheddar cheese and had no mayo on the bread. For dessert, the staff brought a plate of 4 deep fried Oreos. I enjoyed that sweetie goodness and deep fried Oreo so much that I wish I had more than one. This was our first time visiting Chicken Charlie's Table and I wish our first visit had included perusing the menu to see what else they served. If my delish Maui Chicken was indicative of the food you can eat here, I definitely want to return to try their other grub.
