Sambal Shiok Laksa Restaurant Will Open Malaysian Takeaway Next Door | Eater London
"Planned as a distinct, community‑minded Malaysian takeaway at 169 Holloway Road, this rice‑first concept is inspired by Malaysian 'economy rice' stalls and aims to offer affordable, portable hot meals for students and local residents rather than sandwiches. There will be no laksa; the menu will center on rice with tasty stir‑fries, braises and curries — including nasi campur, Malaysian chicken curry with potatoes, vegetables stir‑fried with bean paste, and soy‑braised chicken with honey and ginger — served in single‑meal portions (vegetarian curries or braises around £4.50). Food will be cooked on site, the operation is planned to run weekdays (about 12:00–21:00) with an opening targeted by March, and the owner intends the new outlet to complement rather than cannibalise the neighboring restaurant while broadening access to casual Malaysian hot food in the community." - James Hansen
The chicken wings were inedible. Completely overpowered by a chemical/plastic smell and taste from the new Voxi packaging that seemed to transfer onto the food. Had to go in the bin which is a big shame. Chips were nice and crispy.

Chips were not hot, wings were not fresh and the chicken fillet burger was dry. The wait time was about 25 minutes and for some reason there was only 1 staff member on a Saturday afternoon. The member of staff was clearly trying his best though.

How can a chicken shop be telling you they are not cooking any more chicken at 8.30 of a Friday night. Then tell you wings are fresh. Take a bite stone cold. This place is worse chicken cottage.

The wings were excellent and the jalapeno bites were really good. The Algeria sauce I've also never had but was lovely! Found our new spot!
