Post Malone Gives Away Free Crocs at the Chicken Express in Southlake | Eater Dallas

"Located on Highway 114 in Southlake, this fast-food restaurant is where the musician worked for about two years in high school and later returned for a 2018 documentary tied to his album Beerbongs & Bentleys; he described it as his “first and last job” and said he was working there to save up for a pair of Versace shoes. On December 4 the location hosted a daylong giveaway (which kicked off around 10:30 a.m.) handing out hundreds of pairs of his new Crocs — the artist himself was not expected to attend — and heavy crowds were anticipated after similarly long lines when his first Crocs collaboration launched earlier this year. Staff recollections include a manager saying the young worker was the only one required to wear a hat and that his long, stringy hair made him seem unready for fast-food work. The event was another high-profile merch activation in the DFW area following a recent Bud Light collaboration." - Amy McCarthy

Google
Honestly the food is great, usually hits the spot! Ordered 3x #1’s and they were all correct. Different sides. One of the chicken tenders looked a little lightsabered. Didn’t eat it but everything else is 11/10

Google
In a rush came to the drive thru. Kenneth, I think that was the guy that took my order. Very rude when taking my order, get to the window taking for ever to give me the food. Mind you the only had two people sitting in the drive thru. Open my food give me a nasty cold Mac cheese. Then have to go back to a line thru the drive thru because the employees took forever because they were on their phone. Horrible! At least the manager was nice and fix it but omg

Google
This is a Fantastic place to eat ! Super friendly people. Food simply wonderful Food !

Google
The service is less than stellar. I don’t really expect a lot from fast food but we got a bit of attitude and part of our order was missing and when we asked for it they didn’t apologize and weren’t friendly at all. The food was not good at all. We got chicken tenders, fries, cheese sticks and jalapeño poppers. The poppers were the best tasting thing and I’d say they were a 4/10. The chicken and fries and cheese sticks tasted old.

Google
Tryed the gizzards again after jaw numbing experience a couple weeks back this time they were pretty good. Still chewy, but without the jaw pain. Livers were also good both cooked to order and fresh. Got to take away one star because of the fish. I ordered fish twice in the past month both times it was pretty salty, dry and thin.. too expensive for fillets that tastes like a salty roofing shingle

Law M

Google
I think it was really good. I got the spicy tenders and they were great

Andy M.

Google
Last two times with takeout about a month apart, they only provided this tiny spot of gravy in the mashed potatoes & gravy. To happen twice is a trend if not a practice. They used to include a reasonable amount. This is barely a teaspoon. Very cheap practice on their part. Is this their standard practice now?

Google
I’ve tried to give Chicken Express (Southlake location) multiple chances to fix an issue with an order of chicken strips and catfish, but the service has gone from bad to worse. I’ve reached out on several occasions, only to be hung up on multiple times in a row. When someone did finally answer, the employee’s attitude was dismissive and rude—as if customer service didn’t matter at all. I used to order here several times a week and even catered through this location, but I’ve had enough. If they don’t value my business, I’ll gladly take it to other restaurants that do.

Yelp
When your order is served fresh out of the fryer the chicken tenders with gravy are 5 stars but when you get luke warm chicken tenders it's just ok. Wait not ok. I get that they prepare food in advance of the rush and it sits under the heat lamps but bring on the served fresh out of the fryer and you have a winner. Will I be back? Yes and I will ask for freshly cooked chicken tenders.

Yelp
Why did they raise Tea prices. Keller still is at a dollar. Sad that they gouge what people like.

Yelp
The drive-thru customer service was top tier!! The prices are fair the food is hot and good. I even got an extra dinner roll even if I didn't get one they deserve a great review. The lady that took my order waited patiently allowing me time to decide if I wanted the 8 piece corn nuggets or 24. The guy that took my money was equally as nice. Thank you to everyone at CE it's not easy helping hungry people. PRO TIP for customers: Be kind to people and they'll be kind to you!

Yelp
Literally the worst service I have ever received. After my order was wrong!!! I called the lady she me put on hold for 10 minutes. And them told she couldn't help as rude as possible I used to spent a lot of money there on my office staff. But I never eat or buy chicken there again!!! Stay away from location per service and bad attitudes

Lynn K.

Yelp
5/20/25 @ 3:43pm Ordered a 7-piece chicken tender dinner with fried okra, mashed potatoes and gravy and a roll. Several issues with my food: 1. White gravy is as thin as water and cold. 2. This watery gravy was added to my mashed potatoes - hence making them inedible. 3. Of the 7 chicken tenders I received, 3 were the size of my thumb, which is very thin!!! 4. The fried okra was greasy. --On the bright side, the taste of/crispiness of the chicken tenders was very good, as well as, the roll tasted fresh.

Robert C.

Yelp
The absolute worst customer service at the drive up window during lunch. Attitude says it all....when I asked why it took so long for my order. I had asked "up front" when placing my order if it would take more than 5 minutes. At the time of order they said it would be "ready as soon as I got to the window". Well, 20 mins later I ask why so long after being told 5 minutes and I get "attitude" with no answer and refusal to even talk to me. Goodbye Chicken Express. This location is Terrible. Expect crappy customer service.

Doug G.

Yelp
So I was very much turned off of chicken express until I came to this location. Spicy chicken tendered were succulent! Spice was just right. Pieces of tender were consistent in size not like the nuggets I have got from the Decatur location. I'll be back to this location. I talked the manager here and he said it was a supplier issue but the reality is they can get a another supplier or sell the nuggets as nuggets and the tenders as tenders. Nice job at the Southlake location.

Yelp
They should call it "Inconsistent Chicken," because no matter which location you visit, the chicken may be hot and fresh or near cold and clammy. It's a gamble every time, no matter the hour. When the chicken is hot and fresh, it's really good, especially the spicy version -- it's a five-star hit! But good luck timing your visit to get it fresh from the fryer. Whenever I visit, I look into the kitchen and ALWAYS see mounds of chicken strips sitting under heat lamps, even when the place is not busy (that's usually a sign you're going to get a lukewarm meal). I know it's a fast food place, but I'd be happy to wait for a made-to-order entre. Raising Cane's can do it; so can CE.

Yelp
If I could give negative stars, I would. This evening, one of the workers was cleaning and picking his nose. I asked for the manager and told the manager what I witnessed. As I'm talking, the same disgusting employee started adding items to boxes that were waiting on food. I told the "manager" Kenny what was happening since he was facing me in the window. The "manager" helps prepare my box and he along with all of the employees start laughing. When he hands me my order, I ask what they were laughing about and he says they were laughing at me, because I'm a joke. He offered a refund so I gave him the food back. He threw the order on the ground and refused my refund. I called the non-emergency line and had an officer come out. Apparently, the police can't make them provide a refund. I will be contacting corporate. Stay away from Chicken Express in Southlake. They are not only disgusting by allowing employees to touch food without washing their hands, they are also rude, combative and thieves.

Yelp
Good food, would stop by here often, I just got some today, still pretty good. But I have one small problem with them. The packaging. We put the food into a plastic bag, we got home, opened the bag, and the heat made the chicken box and bag a bit wet. Good food, nice service.
google avatar

Tim W.

Yelp
Sat at the drive-through for 5 minutes and nobody ever said anything. decided to pull around and found people at the window, but nobody wanted to talk to me on the intercom. 230 on a Monday. there was anybody even dining inside.

Kris O.

Yelp
They NEVER have catfish ready to go!! It takes about 7minutes to fry. When you only have a 30 minute lunch that's too long.

ava b.

Yelp
COOK YOUR CHICKEN. Literally just got pink chicken tenders. Could not eat any of it. And saw your employees working without gloves, touching the food. Gross. Gross. Gross.
google avatar

Bam M.

Yelp
I went to the CE in Southlake yesterday it was terrible. You can tell the chicken was sitting in the warmer for a long time. I am equally an disappointed with myself for not returning it. You all have to do better!!! I specifically ask the guy at the drive thru if the chicken was freshly fried he said yes. ‍. This place is very inconsistent.

Jack F.

Yelp
The service was unbelievable, whoever took my order deserves a raise. 9/19, beard and mustache guy, thanks man you made my week. Food was good too!
google avatar

Anthony E.

Yelp
This is onne of the older CE's but the food is fresh, hot and the staff is friendly. I had the 4 chicken tender dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy with a roll. It came out fast and fresh. They dont have Coke Zero so I had unsweetened tea which tasted fresh and I love their ice! Free refills like most fast food places and the rolls are great. Good food, good price and fast and fresh.
google avatar

Brock F.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Love there sweet tea and biscuits! Service is friendly and fast! Highly Recommend!
google avatar

Eric T.

Yelp
Kudos to the black man, wearing the knit cap, who provided outstanding customer service while I waited on my fish to fry (11:20am, 1/22/22). Courteous, polite and responsive ... well done and thank you!
google avatar

Danny C.

Yelp
Really good fried chicken from this spot lately, they are stepping up their game I think! Hot and fresh can't beat it.

Daryl E.

Yelp
Chicken tenders were cold and didn't taste very good, mashed potatoes and gravy were cold. I won't be going back to this one anytime soon. You'd think if they charge $19.90 for some tenders and gravy and some mashed potatoes and a drink, they would server hot food not luke warm. Very sad service, I remember when this place was the bomb at service, I guess the management and employees just don't care anymore. I forgot to mention the roll was also not good, usually the rolls are delicious, not this time.
google avatar

Eric H.

Yelp
I love chicken express, this ones customer service is awful! Waited 15 minuets for express chicken and okra. It's 11:am on the dot no one is in here. Lady at the counter is rude, said roll she gave me biscuit. On a positive note, food taste great and sweet tea is sweet.
google avatar

Gil B.

Yelp
My credit card got cloned. Since I regularly use my credit card at the same places I'm pretty sure it's because of this place. After coming here the first time I get an alert from AMEX same day. I thought it was odd that the drive thru held my credit card a minute after they gave me my receipt. I remember a few years ago a Chicken Express employee in Tyler got arrested for duplicating credit cards...
google avatar

Glenn M.

Yelp
Nothing bad, nothing good. When a place provides seasonings for the chicken it pretty much explains the flavor. If I want crust that is fried flour and nothing else I would eat a piece of fried bread which is not on my list of things to eat unless it is Indian Fry Bread which is not what I came here for. I ordered the okra extra crispy and that was the best part of the meal along with the biscuit. But once again this is not Okra and Biscuit Express it is Chicken that I came for. The service was very good and they explained the wait for the okra, but I see no reason to return when there are other chicken places available. For the price they charge for tenders I assure you this is my last visit.

Brad J.

Yelp
Every Chicken Express I have ever been to charges $0.99 for 32 oz sweet tea. This place charges double that price. I will never be back to this location again!
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
I enjoy eating the chicken strips, okra, rolls, & the best thing is the jalapeño poppers. You can order to go or sit and eat. The only reason I gave a 3 stars is that I've gone a few times when the food can be soggy. Overall the chicken is tasty.
google avatar

Kristen W.

Yelp
Food was great! I ordered a 40pc family meal and everything tasted so good! Staff was super friendly and even thanked me for supporting them! Love this chicken express!

Robin L.

Yelp
We live between Southlake and Grapevine Chicken E stores. Hooray for choice. Lately we've gone to the Southlake store. The chicken was hot and fresh this time, but a little saltier than normal. The gravy was lumpy and salty...yuck. It's an inconsistent store. I think I'll go to Popeye's the next time
google avatar

Amber H.

Yelp
I am very disappointed to write this. Tonight we delt with a number of issues. Our order was incorrect, they served the tea out of jugs because of how early the drained the self serve container, the food was cold, environment was loud, workers were inconsiderate of the people in the dining area, and while we ate, a man came in and complained about how his order was wrong. The manager refused to replace his food. Eventually another worker made him something else. After the confrontation, workers continued to talk about it loudly. Not satisfied with the service.

John M.

Yelp
Not what they used to be. Rude management and low quality product. I hate to say goodbye, but at least there is Raising Cains.
google avatar

Darci G.

Yelp
I went to this Chicken Express thinking it would be better than the one in Grapevine. It was not. The lady at the drive through had attitude. We got home with all of our boxes missing one side and the fries were super stale. We will not go back again and were out 30.00 for a horrible experience.
google avatar

Haley M.

Yelp
I will never go back again. It might be a small thing to some but the lady taking my order would not LISTEN to me and kept cutting me off. She rushed me and then when I asked for 4 ranch and NO OTHER sauces at all she made me pay for it. I ordered a family popper, a family Corn Nuggets, a 4 piece tender meal and 2 additional tenders. There is nothing that drives me more insane when I ask for nothing more than some ranch that I feel I have more than already paid for when i spend $22 and you make me pay for that! Never again. You will never get my money again.

Kenny E.

Yelp
The southlake chicken express always has great food and the customer service is top notch. I have gone here now 5 times and every time I go, every employee super nice. The food has always been good every time.

Trojan Q.

Yelp
Yeet this place gooood ahh hell Chicken is good food is awesome gravy smacks and mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy

Michael M.

Yelp
Someone. Needs to quality control the tea! Ordered a 4 piece spicy tenders (which were suprisingly good) and half and half sweet/unsweet tea in the drive through. Got rolling back down 114 and took a sip of my tea. It was beyond disgusting. It had a sour/spoiked/wangy taste. I've had soured tea before, but this was at a new level. Would they have given me a new one had I went back - sure. It should have never gotten that bad. Time for a deep cleaning on their equipment and storage containers.

Lexi J.

Yelp
This was my 1st time at this Chicken Express, so I asked what specials did they have...there was a young lady that appeared to be new, so she had to get assistance from the manager (Jackie) to get the information....I asked did they have any combination type deals with chicken and tenders and asked what the price was. The young lady stated that she had to ring it all up in order to give me the price....the amount was more than what I was looking to do so I asked did they have something similar, just in less quantities...You then hear Jackie in the back spewing off things to tell me. I went ahead and got the deal and added an additional fry to the order which totaled over $40..... Jackie was the one to give me my food, so I asked if I there was dipping sauce in the bag for the tenders...she yells and says....WELL WHAT KIND OF SAUCE DO YOU WANT.....I asked her what were my options.....she says the options and I asked could I have a few of them all... She slams the window...and tells out....WHAT AN IDIOT...DONT WE ALL KNOW WHAT KIND OF SAUCE WE WANT WITH OUR FOOD...I HATE THESE KINDS OF CUSTOMERS..... So I drive around and go to the inside to let her know that I could hear what she was saying...I never once yelled...I never once seemed aggressive..... When she came to the counter with a bag of items...and I told her I heard what she said.....she immediately says....SO YOU DONT WANT YOUR FOOD...and snatches the bag out of my hand...storms off and begins to talk bad about me to her staff....she comes back out and flings a piece of paper at me saying it was a copy of my voided transaction....I ask for the person over hers name and number...she puts the bane Tommy with a number that routes to a generic voice mail! Needless to say...I will never visit that location again!

Yelp
Fried Catfish sounded good the other day, so I decided to give Chicken Express a shot. I've been to other locations and have been less than impressed, but stopped nonetheless. Like past experiences, it's just too dry. I'm ok with crunchy, if the fish inside is tender, but I guess it sits under the lamps too long, because it's over-cooked and doesn't offer much flavor. The best part of my meal was the Corn Nuggets I selected as my side. They were quite good, but far from enticing enough to bring me back.

Steve C.

Yelp
I really liked their chicken. The people are friendly. But two out of three times they got my order wrong. That tells me they don't care.
google avatar

Hilary N.

Yelp
My honest opinion, not my favorite Chicken Express -- they all have different tasting chicken and gizzards. These gizzards are always strangely chewy. However, this little place is around the corner and we settle. Our favorite Chicken Express is in the ghetto -- I'm telling you, it always tastes better there. And every trip includes a $4 gallon of sweet tea because we're southern like that. And a family sized order of corn nuggets! Yum!

Larry D.

Yelp
A couple of weeks ago, we tried the fried fish for the first time. There was a 15 minute wait, but the fish was nice and hot and very tasty. Went back tonight - same 15 minute wait, but the fish was cold and very tough. Extremely disappointing.
google avatar

Meyunn D.

Yelp
blow my horn and I asked the young lady that comes to the window.! If that is sweet tea that shes stirring in white bucket the girl pause that look on her face as if I shouldn't of asked that question she said yes.

Wesley D.

Yelp
While they do begin to close early, the staff was very polite and respectful. I believe they just wanna get home as fast as possible after close, nothing wrong with that. I buy here all of the time, and have reason to believe that the good reviews would outweigh the bad if everyone had to write one
google avatar

Kyle H.

Yelp
I like this place a lot. Never had a problem here and the service is pretty damn quick considering that the food is actually fresh. I work pretty close to this place and only swing by every now and then but it's really good every time.

Rebecca W.

Yelp
We drove thru Chicken Express in Southlake Hwy 114. Complained about my order bc the chicken was cold. The lady at the cash Register was like Shock that the chicken was cold. She Said well it will take 20 mins to make chicken. I guess she didn't want to make more to please her customers. Just rude!!! The man that got our order together just stared n act like it was no big deal. I think he was the manager. We got home n sure enough the chicken had been setting n was cold n dry. This is not the first time this location has ruin our dinners. I will never return.
google avatar

Yelp
If you have are having a hard time choosing which fried chicken place to eat at, this is the place to choose. The fries and chicken tenders are levels above Cane's, and their biscuits are a close second place to Cane's toast. They have plenty of different combos that allow you to choose between smaller amounts of food or larger amounts, with delicious sides such as their battered fries or their fried corn nuggets. They also have livers and gizzards which are surprisingly better than they sound. I would highly suggest asking for some sides of seasoned salt, because if you're already eating fried chicken then why not add some more delicious flavoring to the gravy or fries? The sweet tea is definitely sweet, so unless you are needing a sugar fix, I suggest getting a half/half iced tea. Enjoy the best fast-food fried chicken you've ever had!
google avatar

Phillip N.

Yelp
I always love coming here once in a blue moon for their tenders. Not sure what is in them, but I think there is a little bit of crack that is sprinkled in their seasoning. Normally I just go through the drive by to order and take home, but today, I just wanted to sit in because I travel a lot and work out of my truck. Staff was friendly and interactive, and the dine in facility was clean. its always nice to find a Chicken Express.

Clint S.

Yelp
The attitude sucks at this place. It was once great but has fallen rapidly. Not sure what's going on but I won't be back. I'll be headed out of the way to grapevine from now on. Even if it's only for a tea. Get your act together and stop being so rude.

Terry S.

Yelp
Called ahead for fresh gizzards and tenders. Order, total $14.00+ and was ready when I arrived although it had apparently been boxed several minutes earlier. When I got home i found the gizzards were old and dry. The tenders were cold as was the gravy. I called back to complain and was told that the gizzards weree fresh but they would drop some ew ones. I did not nor would I drive 25 minutes round trip to get properly prepared food. This place is VERY hit and miss. BTW, the owner also operates the Grapevine store. At least the mgr. there is pleasant unlike Jackie at Southlake. What a grumpy old broad.
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Why am I reviewing a fast food place you might ask. Because this Chicken Express is better than the other Chicken Expresses. The food is fresher and the service is better than other locations where the staff of 45 high schoolers pick their noses and flirt while 2 Hispanic dudes pull chicken strips from yesterday off the hot lamp.

Gary B.

Yelp
Waited 25 minutes at the pay window to get 2 pcs of chicken. Tapped on the window to find out what was taking so long, after 15 minutes, and tattoo girl seemed peeved that I would ask.
