Chicken Holiday

July 25, 2024 My brother from America brought me here for the first time. The chicken is very fresh and fried after you order it, so you can eat it hot and fresh. It was crispy on the outside, very juicy on the inside, and the seasoning was excellent. I'd like to eat it again.

Called ahead and had ordered a 12 piece family meal with mashed and gravy, coleslaw and mac n cheese. The guy on the phone was nice. Close to $82 with driver tip. Mac and cheese was good but the mashed potatoes are cheap, instant ones. The gravy was ok. The cole slaw was cafeteria-grade. The chicken was hot but very dark/burned. Would never order from this place again. Very bad first and last impression. How dare you send such black chicken out the door like that!

I went to Holiday Chicken on a rainy day. My experience made it feal as if it was truly a holiday. The owner was extremely outgoing and cooked my food in a rush. He wasn't trying to get over on me, but he really cared about my experience and the look of the business. I rate this restaurant 10/10. It is a wonderful place to go out with the family or just a needed lunch. Thank you for your service.

This is our favorite place to order food for large parties. Everyone always asks where we got the chicken from because they love it so much. The corn nuggets are spectacular. They are always super helpful when placing large orders and everything is always on time for pickup.

This chicken guy is *at* *your* *service*, and boy, does the chicken deliver. He refuses to give you anything but the freshest, and that brining he does makes for the tenderest fried chicken you’re likely to come across. Is it perfectly brined, or is it just a little over the edge? You decide. But don’t skip this place.

The chicken is what you want! Nothing over the top. Amazing fresh, next day, and cut up and thrown in a sandwich. The broccoli bites are incredibly good. Didn’t know what to expect, crushed all expectations for a little bite food of that nature. Slaw is crazy good too.

Easy to miss, even easier to come back for more! This was one of those places that I would drive by many times each month, but never once thought to stop in. On a cool, late winter day, after leaving another store in the same plaza, I decided to stop in and see what they had. I was surprised by the menu variety, honestly a bit taken aback! I didn't expect this much food from such a cozy space. The tables were clean, as was the kitchen (which sits in plain view). The person working the counter was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered one each of the boneless tenders and spicy tenders. They were fried to order to a perfectly golden and crispy texture. Honestly, I couldn't pick my favorite between the two. They each had a unique flavor profile, textures, and appearance. If my first visit was any indication of the rest of their menu, I can't wait to try the rest! They have earned a new customer, and I will be telling all of my friends about it!

The staff is why you will always go back but the food is so good so fresh so much flavor it's cooked quickly and the hours are good. I grew up eating it and it's consistently delicious

I'm a home-grown, native New Yorker, and growing up in NYC, I didn't venture beyond because I really didn't need to, but once I discovered the amazing depths of the Jersey Shore: very authentic, unfussy, pure beach vibes, good food is everything, and it has been my unsecret guilty pleasure. I love Spring Lake (Victorian Palm Beach, just beach, no amusement park), Cape May ("White Lotus" IRL), Ocean City (clean and endless boardwalk), Wildwood (fun!), and Point Pleasant (walkable, beautiful aquarium, gateway to the Jersey Shore). Sure, these individual pieces of Fried Chicken Drumsticks at Chicken Holiday, near Asbury Park- great live music, concerts, just look exactly like any other fried chicken. But I promise you, they are infinitely better. Gorgeously juicy, crispy, crunchy, just wow! I'm obsessed with Chicken Holiday's overachieving, epic, regular order of Chicken Nuggets, lightly battered white meat, 6 count. It's so good that it's hard not to overindulge.

I don't pretend to be a connoisseur of chicken, but I know what I like and what I don't like. This is the first time that I have ordered from chicken holiday in a long time. I give the chicken a 10 for it being juicy and tender. The skin however, was not crispy, but I'm not sure if that's what they were going for with their chicken. I like a little bit more flavor to the skin but once again it's my personal preference. My tendency is to like bold flavors. I say give the place to try and decide for yourself.

Service was cheerful and friendly. Unfortunately, this is where the the good quality ends. The ambience was horribly dirty and cluttered to no end. The coupe de grace however was the chicken which was mediocre at best. Oily, over cooked beyond crispy and pungent. I'm now running our high output Honeywell air purifier on high to get the acrid smell out of our house. Most of the chicken was mercifully thrown in the trash. Sorry but the nice service here could not offset the negative aspects of the dining experience. We were big fans of Chicken Holiday in East Brunswick back in the eighties. But, times are a changing and not for the good!

This place is Delish..... highly recommend this place if you're looking for some good chicken ..................

Sorry but Chicken Kitchen is Shrewsbury, NJ is much cleaner and less expensive than Chicken Holiday.

Good chicken. Good sides. Cooked right. Can't beat the prices. Service was good. I would order from Chicken Holiday again.

As far as fast food chicken is concerned, this place is the best! Tasty food, fast service.

The staff was cool, very polite. The chicken was awesome!! We did the family meal bucket and got it with mashed potatoes and pasta salad. Great fried chicken.

This is the best fried chicken you can find in New Jersey. Fresh, crispy , perfectly seasoned. And best part next day it is even better. Service is exceptional, friendly and absolutely fantastic. You have to try it!!!!

Amazing food and service. Fred took care of 8 of us during that crazy tornado last night. Great chicken and fries. So good it didn't even need sauce. A very homey atmosphere too.

Nice people and delicious food! I put in a large order for my family and it was ready in less then 20 mins! They even carried it to the car for me since I'm pregnant.

Five stars for the chicken. It is perfect. Mashed potatoes???? No. But this is Chicken Holiday. And they deliver. And the service is 20 stars. Love this place.

Great service, delicious food and good conversation. I almost had everything on menu. I was driving through and had lunch, then picked up dinner for family. Only thing in photo that is not from Chicken Holiday is mash. I had chicken, shrimps, calamari, fish, sweet potato fries, peach cobbler and pecan pie. Will be returning!

I do not know what happened but I had the worse chicken ever there on Sunday 6/23. I thought something was wrong when I did not see the chicken before it was bundled up and the bag was stapled It tasted old and refried. I actually through it away Shrimp were good. It is sad because I watched him fry another customers food and it looked great. My chicken was burned and yucky Shrimp were okay but sad to say not coming back there

I love fried chicken and have tried every venue within striking distance of my home seeking to find the best of the best since KFC closed its doors in Neptune City. Several weeks ago, I discovered Chicken Holiday in a strip mall off Sunset Avenue, in Ocean Township. My preference for fried chicken is the breast. Accustomed to eating 2 chicken breasts because of the size offered by most chicken places, I ordered 4 breasts; 2 for me, and 2 for my wife. The breasts I got from Chicken Holiday were so large and beautiful, with a golden crunchy crisp that I now order just two breasts. I got to know the owner, Fred, who explained to me why his chicken was so much better than other chicken places. He uses only the freshest best chicken, cooked in carefully timed pure oils that he changes frequently in order to create the delicious, scrumptious chicken that is so consistently "finger-lickin' good." The best part is that Fred's prices are so reasonable that for the price of a ground restructured chicken sandwich from a Fast Food joint, I can get two pure, fresh, wholesome, real chicken breasts that have me returning to Chicken Holiday several times a week.

Delicious! Had the chicken nuggets and fries, and the pickle spears- all insane. Only wish we could have my picture up on the wall.

Best place to get chicken in the town hands down. Best chicken tenders along with AMAZING Mac and cheese nuggets. Not to forget the owner Freddy is the best and nicest guy around always making sure you get the best of the order. 5 out of 5 easily.

He's been here for 29 years now!! So he's gotta be doing something good. Food is good and he's so friendly, stop by and enjoy.

A hidden gem on the way into Asbury Park. We stopped in Friday evening to pick up dinner. Staff was friendly and helpful. We kept it simple just getting an 8pc bucket and fries. They have a wide selection of other interesting options and sides. The chicken was delish. Pretty good value as well. We will definitely be back.

Great service, on time pick up, the food is yummy. A great selection. We enjoyed chicken, fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, ribs! If you're looking for healthy, you are in the wrong place

This place has the worst customer service. Tried to order via phone and whoever was taking my order kept messing it up and then would get upset when I corrected him. He kept telling me to hurry up because he had a line and finally I told him to cancel the order because I just couldn't take his rudeness anymore. You can't talk to people who want to give you their money that way. We are all struggling, we are all under a lot of pressure. Now's not the time to lose patience and take it out on your customers. We happily took our business elsewhere and can't recommend enough that others do the same. You don't deserve our business. It's that simple.

I'm not a fried chicken connoisseur but I know that I love flavor and unfortunately this place didn't quite do it for me. No, I'm not saying that I'd rather have KFC but the food here was just bland. Maybe the food has changed since my visit (last summer). If you're coming here to dine in, you should know that there's only two or three tables that each seat two people. The prices are just okay and the manager will work with you to kind of create your own combo which is helpful if you're ordering for a large family. I really wanted to like Chicken Holiday but maybe my expectations were too high based off of these Yelp reviews. Perhaps I should've tried At The Table instead. Live and learn I guess. Also, you have to love that there's a Crossfit in the same plaza as a fried chicken place haha.

We picked up some ribs and wings from Chicken Holiday for lunch today. I'll start with the good: the wings were big. And the meat was quality. They were honey BBQ and the sauce was not very good- it was undesirably tangy. The really bad part however was the ribs. The first bite I took, I felt like I was chewing my belt. The meat was so tough I could barely pull it off the bone. Not only was the meat incredibly tough, it was super fatty. These ribs were really not good, very disappointing. I would not get food from here again.

It was tuff. Great guys, good food. Great on game days or if your hungry. Great portions

I love the chicken here. It's delicious every time, always crispy and fresh. I wish there was one close to me but then is gain about 100 pounds. So yummy!

I sometimes dream about this chicken when I'm not in town lol Perfectly broasted chicken - made to order(call ahead or get it delivered because rarely is there chicken just sitting around! It's THAT popular) Have ordered for parties and have even taken $100 worth to an event in PA - always a huge hit!! Owners are the coolest guys ever !! Always happy / friendly and eager to satisfy! Best chicken in central nj - period!

Five stars for a Chicken Holiday? Yep. Unabashedly given. I used to live just a few minutes away from here, and having to give this place up as a regular take-out source was a genuine source of consternation when deciding to move. I don't know what it is, or why it's different or better than any other, but it just is. So much so, that it is worth an occasional hour drive just to relive those glorious times when it was but a mere five minutes away. I realize that's not overly helpful or descriptive, but the deep fried crispy goodness exceeds my command of the language.

I've never given five stars to a simple chicken place but if you're in the Township of Ocean, NJ, you really need to stop off here and get some chicken. It's nothing at all to look at, but the chicken is the best around. I ordered some legs and thighs on my last visit. The meat is so tender that it literally falls off of the bone into your mouth! The breading is just right, not to soft, not too crispy. To top it off, their french fries are first rate! Better than the fries I've had at any restaurant in New Jersey.

The best buffalo chicken strips in the world. I've been coming here for 15 years and the guys are awesome.

This is the best place for fried chicken on the Jersey shore (in my opinion). My wife and I had them cater our engagement party. After sampling 5-6 different places we (and other family members) unanimously found their chicken to be the best. Since then, every time we call in an order the staff knows us by name and each time thank us for letting them cater us in the past (which was over a year ago). They are remarkably nice and the chicken remarkably delicious. AND an EXCELLENT price. Can't say enough good things.

What a great find! The chicken was tender and lightly battered. Calamari flavorful, sweet potato fries delicious, mac & cheese nuggets yum. I'm glad I stopped in here. I can't compare this place to others in the area but it is damn good chicken and wish they are in my home town!

The people are great. Very friendly, down to earth and real. Chicken is amazingly delicious! I highly recommend eating here if you are in the mood for good fried chicken.

I came here because the construction company I currently work for leans too easily for McDonalds or Chinese food. I found this hole in the wall restaurant on Yelp, saw that it was the closest to the job site,l and gave it a try. Needless to say, I was impressed. The chicken is so light in its batter, you can actually taste chicken (not like your KFC or Bojangles where the majority of the food is fried batter. Their steak fries are also great! Because I'm feeding 10+ people most times, I get a ton of fried chicken and fries (they give me free ketchup bottles and Texas Pete for being a repeat customer). The people that work there are also extremely amiable! I would have honestly given this restaurant a 4 star for what it is, but the kind natured workers there definitely are worth that extra star. This place is barely busy during lunch rush and I feel really bad that they don't get enough business. They sound almost too thankful that I stop by. Go here if you're in the mood for fast food! It's pretty fast, and they fry everything fresh for you!

Pressure cooked fried chicken perfection. Came in today to get the "chicken jubilee", 16 pieces of tasty fried chicken, French fries, cold salads (macaroni and potato) and some rolls. All were extremely good, flavorful and hit the spot. If I lived closer and wanted something fried, I'd be coming here.

I picked up my fried chicken for tmw's fishing trip and it smelled delicious- it sat in my car for 30 minutes while I did some shopping, and when I got back in the car the smell was so good I had to grab a leg and devour it- if the owner was smart, he would figure out how to come up with a car air freshener that would replicate the smell of his moist chicken and he could probably retire early!

Good, crispy, flavorful fried made to order chicken, sides disappointing. Mac and cheese tasted like it was right out of the box. Mashed potatoes and gravy were bland. Don't think I will be returning.

Over priced and the chicken was not clean well...plus they serve craft Mac and cheese as baked makes and cheese horrible

I have Chicken Holiday cater all my parties, and BBQ's. they have the best chicken and ribs in town, they put a lot of love in their bird! They even have awesome chicken/waffles and fried pickles! It is my favorite place to get take out.

The corn nuggets and apple crescents are amazing here. The folks behind the counter and over the phone are also exceptionally nice and perky all the time. :)

this is one of those places that you always drive by and notice the sign but never remember to try. Well finally I got to try this place and I loved it. The costumer service was amazing. We ordered take out so while the food was being made they told us that we could wait in our car and they would bring the food to us. How nice! We ordered some fried chicken with sweet potato fries and calamari. The chicken was well cooked and you can tell they actual marinate their chicken. The calamari was cooked to perfection, not too chewy like a lot of places serve it, YUCK. The sweet potato fries were delicious especially dipped in bbq sauce mmmm my fave. Just saw in another review that they have corn nuggets. Definitely have to go back and try those!

Likely the best chicken I've ever had. I was in Interlaken for 1 day and getting my nails done next door.....I just happened to walk outside and see this chicken place and I couldn't resist. The chicken was so amazing and juicy. Great job guys!!
