The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich at Chicken N Pickle sounds bold on the menu, but the spice level is surprisingly mild. For something labeled “hot,” it barely brings any heat at all. It looks like they only add a small drizzle of hot sauce — maybe half a teaspoon — right on top of the chicken, and that’s the entire source of spice. There’s no seasoning throughout the breading and no real kick, so the sandwich never reaches the level of flavor most people expect from a Nashville-style hot chicken sandwich.
That becomes even more noticeable when you compare it to other popular spicy chicken sandwiches. Places like Popeyes, Chick-fil-A, and Buffalo Wild Wings all deliver a fully seasoned, intentionally spicy bite from start to finish. Their sandwiches feel complete and well-crafted. At Chicken N Pickle, it ends up tasting more like a regular chicken sandwich with a quick splash of hot sauce added at the end, leaving it underwhelming for anyone expecting a true spicy option.
The skirt steak entrée also falls short in a different way. While the flavor itself is solid, the amount of actual meat on the plate is minimal. The slices are very thin, and the portion looks small next to the tortilla and sides, which makes the dish feel incomplete. With a heartier serving or thicker cut, this could easily be a standout menu item, but the current portion just doesn’t live up to expectations.
